Agency at the airport turns the Stadler site into the Altenrhein work center

The Stadler site will soon appear under the name "Werkplatz Altenrhein". The airport agency is responsible for developing the new brand for the former Stadler site.

logo

Until now, the Altenrhein commercial and industrial park known as Stadler-Areal has been closely associated with the name of its main tenant. The imminent partial departure of Stadler Rail changes this. The development of an independent brand as well as the communicative support of the marketing was transferred by the owner Swiss Commercial to the agency located directly next to the site at the airport. Together with a project team covering the areas of site development, leasing and strategic marketing consulting, Agentur am Flughafen has developed the brand "Werkplatz Altenrhein" and initial communication measures.

A coherent site name reduced to the brand essence and an image that matches the industrial character of the site were required. The quality of the industrial site was to be credibly signaled both internally and externally.

In addition to a profile-creating logo, characteristic typography and matching color schemes, differentiating key images were created to illustrate the size of the site. A website and target-group-specific brochures were also created, which can be individually filled with information. An initial newsletter for stakeholders was also sent out in physical and electronic form. The measures will be used from now until further notice, and additional measures will follow.

Deal worth billions: Sunrise major shareholder votes against takeover of UPC

At the end of February, Sunrise announced the acquisition of UPC Switzerland for CHF 2.7 billion. The decision to purchase UPC was made against the wishes of Sunrise's main owner, as the Handelszeitung writes in its latest edition.

sunrise-kauft-upc

"On February 27, as Freenet's representative on the Board of Directors, I voted against the planned takeover," says Freenet CEO Christoph Vilanek. The German telecoms provider holds around a quarter of all Sunrise shares. He had already clearly communicated to Sunrise managers in January that "we cannot approve the deal and its financing logic in this form".

Sunrise does not wish to confirm that Freenet has opposed the negotiated Binding Agreement in the Board of Directors. Meanwhile, Freenet warns of the negative consequences of the deal: "If the takeover goes ahead as planned, Sunrise's existing shareholders would suffer massive damage. There is a threat of losses of up to 30 percent from the share's former high," says Vilanek.

Despite resistance from the major shareholder, Sunrise is confident that a majority will approve the deal at the extraordinary general meeting in the fall: "Investors who don't like the transaction have already sold and new investors who see the advantages and value generation have bought," says a Sunrise spokeswoman.

It provides an up-to-date overview of the risks and opportunities. On the former, Brauer cites China's social credit system, for example, while on the latter he relies primarily on the visions of data scientist Hardy Schloer. They do sound promising, but this may also be due to the fact that they are based on the commercial interests of the entrepreneur Schloer. Nevertheless: a worthwhile read.

Anti-Semites hijack Adidas Twitter campaign

A campaign allowed users to have their names printed on the new Arsenal jerseys. Trolls exploited the promotion to spread hateful messages.

adidas-uk

A Twitter campaign by sporting goods manufacturer Adidas was hijacked in the UK by trolls who used it to spread anti-Semitic remarks. The campaign was subsequently deactivated. "Because a small minority misused the ad campaign to make offensive statements, we immediately shut down its function," he said. A Twitter team will investigate the matter," cites the HuffPost UK a spokesman for Adidas.

"Innocent Hitler" on Arsenal jersey

Called "#DareToCreate," the campaign was meant to promote new jerseys for British football club FC Arsenal. On Twitter, fans could request Adidas to create a picture showing their username on the new jersey. In a tweet, the user is greeted with the words "This is your home. Welcome to the team." According to Adidas, the campaign was meant to please avid Arsenal fans.

However, there was apparently no filter for which words and statements appeared in the user names. Some users hijacked the campaign, so that pictures with Arsenal jerseys circulated that contained anti-Semitic and racist statements. One jersey, for example, suggested that "Hitler was innocent." These images quickly became widely circulated on Twitter.

Adidas not prepared for trolls

Adidas earned criticism and ridicule on social media for its lack of control over its own campaign. One Twitter user wrote, "Someone should get out of bed and do some damage control." Another user said, "Yes, social media is great and fun, but it's still a job that takes skill. And you need to be prepared for trolls, which Adidas clearly isn't." Arsenal FC stressed in a statement that statements like those made by Twitter trolls have no place in football. Diversity is important to Arsenal, it said, and everyone involved with the club should experience the same sense of belonging. (pte)

Clear arguments, clear focus: Ogilvy advertises for Migros Bank

Following last year's campaign, Migros Bank is once again relying on Ogilvy as lead agency for its corporate client division. This year's appearance is intended to expand the bank's awareness in the corporate business and extend it to new segments.

A central focus is on the digital continuation of the campaign. With a comprehensive digital presence, potential customers are addressed in a tailored manner in target group-affine environments in the current campaign. Various subjects and messages are played out and optimized using A/B testing. The content will then be concretized on the bank's website.

For the current campaign, the messages about the core segments were further sharpened, additional sectors were addressed in pictographic form, and specific services such as the online leasing calculator were integrated. In addition to overarching themes for all sectors, the campaign also includes themes that specifically address individual, relevant customer segments such as doctors, dentists, and real estate or construction companies.

Committee of the Council of States wants to expand indirect press subsidies

The Council of States' Media Commission (KVF) wants to support the print media. It has approved two parliamentary initiatives calling for an increase in indirect press subsidies.

staenderat

The printed press continues to play a key role in shaping public opinion in Switzerland, writes the Commission in a press release issued on Tuesday. It is confronted with existential economic challenges. In order to safeguard their future prospects, the print media must both master the digital transformation and continue to be published on paper.

In the opinion of the KVF, they can be supported quickly and efficiently in this way with indirect press funding. The Confederation currently provides CHF 50 million annually for this purpose. This is used to subsidize the delivery of newspapers and magazines.

Radio and television fees for the press

With his initiative, Stefan Engler, a member of the CVP Council of States from Graubünden, is calling for the promotion of subscription-based daily newspapers, regional weekly newspapers and Sunday newspapers in the digital transformation. Funding should primarily be provided for the delivery and distribution of these newspapers. The Federal Council should be able to define criteria such as editorial content, advertising and national languages.

Engler's initiative was adopted unanimously by the KVF, another by Councillor of States Géraldine Savary (SP/VD) by 8 votes to 3. Savary is calling for part of the radio and television levy to be used to support press companies, for example in indirect press promotion. In addition, the press should also be able to be supported with the surpluses from the levy shares.

Finally, the KVF unanimously approved an initiative by Councillor of States Filippo Lombardi (CVP/TI). He wants to amend the media article in the Federal Constitution so that not only radio and television, but also press companies could be supported. Lobardi writes that the press remains demonstrably the most important medium for forming opinions in elections and votes.

The KVF states that the long-term horizon of a possible constitutional amendment can also be included in the future discussion on the exact form of press funding. The three initiatives will now go to the National Council committee. If the latter agrees, the KVF of the Council of States can draw up corresponding decrees.

Publisher satisfied

The Swiss Media Association welcomes the decisions in a statement and speaks of a "first important step towards preserving Swiss media diversity". It calls for an increase of CHF 90 million in indirect press subsidies. This urgent expansion should not be delayed by the discussion about a possible constitutional amendment. (SDA)

Commission of the Council of States does not want to exempt companies from TV levy

Companies are to continue paying a radio and television license fee. The Council of States' Committee on Transport and Telecommunications (KVF) does not intend to exempt them from this fee.

staenderat

The committee rejected a parliamentary initiative by SVP National Councillor Gregor Rutz (ZH) by 10 votes to 2, as reported by the parliamentary services on Tuesday.

The Commission points out that the electorate approved the new levy system in 2015. In view of the recent changeover, it does not believe it is appropriate to provide for a new change.

SRG should save money

The National Council Committee approved the initiative. If it sticks to its decision, Parliament will decide. The majority of the National Council committee is of the opinion that SRG should make savings. In addition, company owners and employees already pay a fee as private individuals, argue the proponents of a change.

Without the corporate levy, there would be a shortfall of CHF 170 million. Companies pay a graduated levy based on turnover, which is due from a turnover of CHF 500,000.

Exception for working groups

The KVF of the Council of States sees a need for action with regard to the taxation of joint ventures. It is calling for an exemption for these. It approved a parliamentary initiative by Councillor of States Hans Wicki (FDP/NW) by 9 votes to 2 with 1 abstention. This will now go to the National Council's sister committee.

Today, joint ventures also have to pay a tax because they are subject to VAT - and because the registration of companies subject to the tax is based on the corresponding register. The Commission notes that this simplifies the registration process considerably. At the same time, however, joint ventures formed by other companies for the sole purpose of carrying out a specific transaction would also be included.

In this case, the tax is levied both on the participating companies and on the joint venture. This would result in actual double taxation. (SDA)
