Contexta for Bank-Now: This dog does real value work

An unusual testimonial is the star of Credit-now’s new campaign: a talking dog, with part of its fur dyed in the brand’s color, promotes the lender across various channels. The agency Contexta is responsible for the campaign’s execution.

The new brand ambassador is much more than an eye-catching mascot: One of his most important tasks is to communicate the newly defined brand values: Partnership, Flexibility, Thinking Along. These values are explained in the new campaign and thus brought closer to the target group.

In entertaining stories from life, Credit-now thus wants to prove why the target group should turn to it for financing. The new brand ambassador does not act as a bank-now employee, but rather comments on the situation from the outside and in a casual tone of voice.

The campaign, developed together with Contexta, was launched on Monday. The spots were directed by Briton Henry Littlechild, and the animation specialists from Sehsucht München handled production. The lead media TV and OOH are supported by social media and other measures.

Guests can now book their entire stay in Valais from start to finish on a single online platform. To make this possible, Destination Valais/Wallis Promotion relies on Alturo’s Destination OS.

With Alturo's Destination OS, the wide range of offers will be marketed centrally in a new marketplace, thereby driving forward the digitalization of the entire region, as detailed in a press release. Everything - from accommodation, ski passes, sports equipment rental and snow sports schools to activities and experiences such as wine tastings - can now be booked on Valais.ch.

"The centralization of the tourism e-commerce platform with Alturos Destinations creates synergy effects for all participating tourism destinations throughout the canton," explains Gilberto Loacker, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alturos Destinations. "This also allows smaller destinations to sell their offers online more quickly."

Valais is thus the first Swiss region to consistently take the step from promotion to commercialization, writes Valais/Wallis Promotion in a press release. Another first is the collaboration between several Valais destinations and companies to promote their products internationally under the Valais brand. Valais/Wallis Promotion intends to work even more closely with these partners from 2021 in order to position and promote the Valais brand internationally. "Our aim is to attract new customers to Valais. We want to unite the tourism and economic players in Valais behind this common vision in order to market Valais together internationally and via the digital marketplace," explains Damian Constantin, Director of the marketing organization. The platforms currently used by the partners will be coordinated and united at cantonal level in order to reduce the operating costs for each of them.

Focus on customers who know little or nothing about Valais

According to Valais/Wallis Promotion, initial results show that the platform meets a real customer need. The main target group is Swiss people who do not live in Valais, who mainly book their vacations online, who know little or nothing about the region and who are planning a stay in Switzerland in the next twelve months.

Through market research, Valais/Wallis Promotion identified a potential 1.5 million people who meet these criteria. The study also provided valuable information on the favorite activities, media consumption and socio-demographic data of potential customers in order to address them in a targeted and efficient manner. The digital platform encourages this new clientele to discover Valais, its diverse destinations, products and experiences.

Subtlety brings together the unexpected for Swissnex

Swissnex connects Switzerland with other countries in the fields of education, research, and innovation. To mark the network’s 20th anniversary, the Bern-based agency Feinheit developed a visibility campaign.

nex20

For many actors in the Swiss education, research and innovation landscape, Swissnex is a household name and highly relevant. Beyond that, however, the federal network is hardly known. To ensure that in the future even more Swiss startups, researchers and students are informed about the activities and operations of Swissnex and to reduce fear of contact, Feinheit has developed a visibility campaign. Bringing together the unexpected formed the core of the communication. Because Swissnex brings new faces together, connects the cultural with the scientific and breaks through classic bubbles.

Feinheit developed a cross-channel communication concept based on the principle of Human Centered Design. This has the added value that Swissnex can also use the findings from the audience research approach for future activities within Switzerland. As a result, Feinheit created a transformable Online platformon which the projects and events of the anniversary year were published.

On the platform and in display advertising, seemingly random combinations of words come together on a banner. On the one hand, you can find out which projects are hidden behind them on the platform via background stories from the various international locations, and on the other hand on social media. Because with the target groups in mind, a social media campaign with editorial operations under the direction of Feinheit was launched at the same time as the platform was published. Since October, the network has been providing information about its activities in four languages via LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram. Feinheit also advised and supported Swissnex with media relations.

Responsible at Swissnex: Roman Kern (Connections Explorer), Malin Borg Soares (Head of Department), Dante Larini (Project Manager). Responsible for fineness: Sophie Fauser (Human Centered Design and Implementation Platform); Moritz Friess (Project Management and Lead Campaign); Kristina Roder (Coordinator Conversion Platform); Martin Schweizer (Online Marketing); Rahel Grunder (Media Relations); Matthias Kestenholz (Technical Concept and Implementation); Paula Spörri (Graphics and Web Design).

With newspaper advertising, the environment makes all the difference

A recent study by Score Media Group shows that editorially designed pages featuring articles relevant to the ad increase the perception and impact of advertising.

It has been proven that printed content stays in the mind better. Advertisements in regional daily newspapers therefore benefit from cognitive engagement with the articles. But what influence do different editorial environments have on the impact of an advertisement? In order to investigate the specific effects of the interplay between advertising and environment, the Score Media Group created two fictitious brands from the pharmaceutical and smart home sectors and tested the impact of the ads in different editorial contexts: once in an environment tailored to the ads (Score Media Content Match) around the topics "common cold" and "smart home" as well as on newspaper pages with no reference to content. With this test arrangement, it should be possible to reliably attribute the advertising impact to an environmental effect.

The results show: The environment makes the difference. The combination of an editorially relevant environment and ad significantly increases the attention and impact of campaigns. Recognition of the tested ads in the content match was 47%, compared to only 43% for ads without reference to the environment. Furthermore, 82% of readers of regional daily newspapers like it when they receive further neutral information about a product, compared to 76% for ads without reference to the environment. A strong 76 percent (without reference to the environment: 55 percent) describe the topic-related articles as added value. As the study also shows, editorial pages with articles that match the content of the advertisement are also read more often than pages without reference (25 percent vs. 21 percent) and are rated significantly better (91 vs. 77 percent).

Topic-related environment activated

In addition to greater attention and increased reading frequency, useful and value-adding environments also significantly increase people's interest in a product or brand. For example, 47 percent of respondents want to learn more about a product after coming into contact with the ads in Content Match (vs. 39 percent with contact to the ad without editorial reference), 40 percent want to visit the website (vs. 34 percent) and 48 percent include the brand or product in their purchase consideration (vs. 40 percent). In particular, the editorial information leaves an impression on almost three quarters of respondents (73%) and helps with the purchase decision (vs. 65%).

"With the Score Media Content Match, i.e. the combination of an advertisement in a topic-related and useful environment for the reader, advertisers can effectively increase the positive effects of their campaign in the regional daily newspaper," comments Andrea Becher, Chief Sales Officer of the Score Media Group, on the results.

For the Study has the Score Media Group together with Annalect conducted a quantitative survey in the online access panel with 1811 online users and readers of regional daily newspapers (print, e-paper) aged 18 to 69 in October and November 2020. Score Media Content Match and Junior Page in the Göttinger Tagblatt were used as ad formats.

Immo Messe Schweiz and OFFA will not take place in 2021 either

The Immo Messe Schweiz and the OFFA spring trade fair have now also fallen victim to the ban on events issued by the Federal Council. Both fairs could already not take place in 2020.

Since the Covid 19 case numbers rose sharply at the end of October, trade fairs and other public events in Switzerland, which were possible in the meantime with sophisticated protection concepts, are again generally prohibited. At present, no forecast can be made as to when event operations can resume at the exhibition center. Due to the necessary lead time of major events, Olma Messen St.Gallen has decided to stop the preparations for Immo Messe Schweiz and OFFA and to create planning security for all parties involved with the cancellation.

Immo Messe Schweiz was one of the first major events in eastern Switzerland to be prevented by the Corona pandemic in 2020. Three weeks before it was to be held, it was first postponed to the summer and later cancelled altogether. With the second cancellation in a row, the real estate and construction industry is missing an important platform for information exchange, product presentation and new customer acquisition in direct contact between suppliers and potential buyers, as the Olma Messen St. Gallen cooperative emphasizes in a statement. The next Immo Messe Schweiz is scheduled to take place from March 25 to 27, 2022.

The OFFA will also suffer the same fate. The spring fair had to be cancelled in 2020 due to the Corona protection measures, and the same decision will now follow in 2021. The cooperative wants to hold the next public fair from April 20 to 24, 2022.

For Olma Messen St.Gallen, the cancellation of the two popular fairs in the spring represents a further setback in its efforts to regain financial stability through market-generated revenues, the cooperative's statement continues. The near-total shutdown of operations caused a loss of about 80 percent of budgeted annual revenue, and the cancellation of the two fairs severely impacted the company's financial planning, it said. As a total loss of sales is expected until at least the middle of the year, the management and board of directors are considering further measures to secure the trade fair location.

However, the cooperative is confident that normality will return to the event business after the summer and that trade fairs and events can be held again in the second half of 2021 as planned.

Scheu will support the Institute for Swiss Economic Policy (IWP) as managing director from mid-year, the media group writes in a statement. Under his leadership, the Debatten feuilleton has attracted a great deal of attention beyond the country's borders.

Smile and Equipe say "Bye Bye"

Zurich agency Equipe is igniting the next stage in brand awareness for direct insurer Smile following a successful pitch decision in December. The first work is already live.

Smile_Pressemitteilung_Bild_01_Keyvisual

Even in 2021 and after the recent pitch, Smile is sticking to its mission: The digital direct insurer has set out to rid the world of "blah blah". Or at least the insurance world.

Together with Equipe as agency partner, Smile wants to further expand awareness from 2021 and strengthen its own positioning as a digital brand.

A cross-media campaign in German- and French-speaking Switzerland is currently kicking off the campaign. This includes a topical Trump theme, which Smile used on Wednesday on the websites of Tagesanzeiger and 20 Minuten, among others, to bid farewell to the newly elected US president with a wink. The situational message behind it: Now is the right time for something new. Because unlike others, Smile offers a simple, uncomplicated and quick change, without any blah blah blah - according to the claim.

"We are very excited to continue developing the Smile brand together," comments Markus Hammer, Executive Creative Director of Equipe. "Because Smile is not only a very dynamic and exciting brand in terms of content, but also dares to break new ground and expose itself in terms of communication."

The launch was extended by targeted DOOH subjects, display ads and paid social media measures, including remarketing, which have been placed in the right environment for the mobile target group since the start of the year.

Media budget defended, creative budget newly secured

In addition to defending its media account, Equipe has now also secured the creative account of its long-standing client Smile in a recent pitch against renowned competition. Senlermedia continues to be responsible for the social media budget.
