Jung von Matt Limmat, Andri Ragettli and Ovaltine have an easy winter

Ovomaltine, Jung von Matt Limmat and Andri Ragettli, reigning World Cup leader in Slopestyle and Big Air, show how easy winter can be this year, too. The social-driven campaign brings Ragettli's adventures and stunts in the snow and on skis into the feeds of young adults.

andri-Bild_HighRes

Andri Ragettli is focused and daring. Accordingly, the freeskier's course videos regularly go viral. Together with Ovomaltine, Ragettli shows how "easy" life can be in the snow and on the slopes.

Highlight of the Social Campaign "Easy Winter" is a stunt video in the style of the #GotMilk Challenge by Tony Hawk. In the original, Tony Hawk skates through the halfpipe with a glass of milk - and the milk stays in the glass. Andri Ragettli's challenge: skate down the slope with an Ovo drink, over the jump and don't spill any of the Ovaltine. The stunt video on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok reveals whether he makes it.

Organic and authentic

The social content is played out on Ragettli's own channels and on the Ovaltine channels. With two million followers on TikTok and 500,000 followers on Instagram, Andri Ragettli ensures organic buzz. The content produced by Ovomaltine and Jung von Matt Limmat is also based on the well-known style of Andri Ragettli's stunt videos and thus puts Ovomaltine in the spotlight in an authentic way.

Fails and hacks

The social-driven campaign takes the next step with a mini-documentary on the making of the stunt video and a compilation of the failures during the stunt shooting - true to the legendary Ovaltine claim: "Mit Ovo chaschs nöd besser, aber länger. On Ovomaltine's social channels, the "Easy Winter" campaign is accompanied by hacks for the cold season. How do I prevent frozen windshield wipers? Or: How do I keep my hands nice and warm even in the depths of winter?

Where is Andri?

The conclusion of the social campaign is a contest in the Insta-Stories of Ovomaltine. Because Andri has had enough of standing around and would rather treat himself to a fine Ovaltine breakfast, he sends a cardboard cutout of himself on a Tour de Suisse. The mission: Andri's cardboard figure goes on tour with the Ovo intern and hides in various ski resorts in Switzerland. Whoever guesses in the Insta Stories where the cardboard Andri is and DMs the place to Ovomaltine has the chance to win an Ovo-Zmorgen-Päckli with surprises.

Facebook bans advertising for gun accessories

Facebook is banning advertisements for gun accessories on its platforms. This move comes in light of threats of violence surrounding the inauguration of the new U.S. President, Joe Biden.

facebook-werbeverbot-waffen

The ban is effective immediately and until at least two days after Biden takes office on Jan. 20, the group said Saturday (local time). The company operates social networking sites Facebook and Instagram, as well as messaging service WhatsApp. "We already ban ads for guns, ammunition and gun enhancements like silencers. But we will now also ban ads for accessories," Facebook announced.

On Jan. 6, hundreds of supporters of President-elect Donald Trump had stormed the U.S. House seat, killing five people. As a result, security forces in Washington are on alert ahead of Biden's inauguration next Wednesday. The Federal Bureau of Investigation, for example, warns of armed protests planned for Washington and all capitals of the 50 states.

Three US senators had written a letter to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Friday. In it, they called on him to permanently block advertising for products that are clearly intended for use in armed combat. (SDA)

The ambassadors: City of Wil invests in citizen dialogue

diebotschafter_Logo-hoch

Today, the authorities are much more challenged to bring their goals and projects closer to the population and to make them understandable. This is particularly true for larger infrastructure projects in existing settlement areas. "Wil Vivendo" is part of a complex, regional overall traffic concept that comprises around 50 measures involving the federal government, two cantons and several municipalities.

The city of Wil decided in favor of an active dialog with the population and evaluated suitable agencies in an open procedure. The agency Die Botschafter from St.Gallen convinced with its experience in the strategic management and operational implementation of challenging communication projects. Over the next four years, various information and dialog measures will be implemented, accompanied by acceptance monitoring.

Goldbach: first shopping campaign with SIMID standard for Luma Beef

Goldbach, Blue Billywig, and Luma Beef are joining forces to launch the first interactive shopping campaign using the new SIMID standard. This standard is designed to make video campaigns more transparent and secure, as well as to expand the range of interactive delivery options.

LUMA Shoppable Ad

In an effort to drive digital video advertising, Goldbach, Blue Billywig and Luma Beef are relying on the new video standard SIMID (Secure Interactive Media Interface Definition). Accordingly, the online butchery's shopping campaigns were migrated from VPAID (Video Player Ad Interface Definition) to the new standard in the last quarter of 2020. At the core of the campaigns were interactive shoppable ads, where the shopping cart was displayed directly in the video stream.

"For Luma Beef, we complemented our brand performance TV advertising campaign with interactive shopping video ads across our network. This combination of brand video ads with a transactional format has proven successful," explains Martin Radelfinger, Managing Director at Goldbach agency AdManufaktur.

Market acceptance still restrained

Although market adoption of the standard is currently slow, Blue Billywig is convinced of the benefits of SIMID - both for advertisers and publishers. For this reason, the video platform offers full SIMID support and has made it available to all users of its Interactive Video Ads Studio.

The IAB Tech Lab introduced the SIMID video standard in 2019 with the goal of replacing VPAID. This was intended to ensure a more transparent, secure standard while increasing the interactive capabilities of digital video campaigns. With SIMID, playback control is with the player, giving publishers greater control over their streams.

WhatsApp postpones the introduction of new privacy rules

WhatsApp is postponing the rollout of its new privacy policy by three months following criticism and a user exodus. Previously, users were required to agree to the new terms by February 8 if they wanted to continue using the Facebook-owned messaging service.

Whatsapp Datenschutzregeln

Now the new privacy policy will not apply until May 15, WhatsApp announced on Friday (local time). According to WhatsApp, the changes are primarily about creating better opportunities for communication with companies. The end-to-end encryption, with which chat content is only visible in plain text for the participating users, but not even for WhatsApp itself, will not be shaken.
Growth in the competition

It is also not about an extended data forwarding to Facebook. Outside the EU, WhatsApp user data flows to Facebook for advertising purposes or to improve products - but already since 2016.

WhatsApp is the world's most successful chat service with more than two billion users, followed by Facebook Messenger (1.3 billion). In the past few weeks, WhatsApp rivals such as TelegramThe company also reported strong growth in the number of new customers - because users left WhatsApp after the announcement of the new privacy policy. WhatsApp complained about the spread of false information about it, which they want to clear up more by mid-May. (SDA)

MRB launches Covid awareness campaign for Zurich vocational and secondary schools

The Zurich-based agency Metzger Rottman Bürge has created a poster campaign for the Office of Secondary Education and Vocational Training of the Canton of Zurich, designed to remind the young target audience once again of the well-known coronavirus safety guidelines.

Corona_Plakat_2

Slowly but surely, we are all tired of Corona. The official posters with the rules of conduct are hardly noticed in everyday life anymore and the rules are followed accordingly more and more carelessly - especially in the familiar environment of work, leisure and school.

MRB was commissioned by the Zurich Cantonal Office of Secondary Education and Vocational Training to create eye-catching posters for vocational and secondary schools that catch the eye of the young target group and remind them of the well-known rules of conduct.

The message is as simple and catchy as the rules: It's never been easier to be a superhero - or a supervillain. Because if you don't follow the simple rules, you endanger yourself and, above all, others. And thus, without meaning to, becomes a potential super-spreader. This message appeals to the common sense of young people in a surprising way.

To capture attention, the campaign uses the expressive visual language of Marvel comic book superheroes. A visually attractive world that is very familiar to the target group and gets to the heart of the message: Don't be a Super-Spreader, be a Super-Hero.

Researchers need to make more use of YouTube

Professional experts and research institutions need to make greater use of video platforms like YouTube to inform people about their work. At the moment, scientific video discourse on the web is mainly dominated by laypeople. Professionals are therefore urged to engage more with YouTube's recipes for success in order to reach a mass audience, as a study by the University of Trier shows.

rachit-tank-VLzAkbs5afg-unsplash

"A new and wide-reaching communication space with new players for science topics has emerged on the Internet. For science, this transformation is both a challenge and an opportunity, in that it creates competition with non-scientific communicators, but also new communication opportunities," says study director Hans-Jürgen Bucher.

The researchers analyzed the popularity of 400 German-language science videos on YouTube. Of these, 214 came from laypeople and 186 from professional experts. The 50 most popular videos included content produced exclusively by non-scientists. The amateurs were able to collect up to 500,000 views in a few weeks, while videos from research institutions reached no more than a few thousand viewers.

"Adjusting to media logic"

Two important success factors for scientific YouTube videos emerged in the study. The first factor is interactivity. Lay people often build a social network through their content and let their viewers actively participate in the discourse. The second recipe for success is a creative choice of video type. Animations in particular reach the most people with up to 140,000 views.

Professional science videos usually only show researchers talking about their work in front of the camera. However, this arouses little interest. "Established research institutions can only catch up in terms of publicity if they adapt to the media logic of YouTube and, for example, also rely on typical formats such as animated film and presentation film," advises Bucher. Survey: One in four Germans distrusts the media

In Germany, one in four believes that politics and the media are "in cahoots." This is the result of a representative survey by the Institute of the German Economy (IW), which the Rheinische Post reported on Friday.

verschwoerung1200

According to the survey, a total of a quarter of respondents tend to agree or fully agree with the above-mentioned conspiracy narrative. According to the survey, 23 percent of respondents think that there are secret organizations with great influence on political decisions. In a Germany-wide survey conducted at the end of March, significantly fewer people (eight percent) would have believed this narrative.

Around 70 percent of respondents under the age of 30 said they use the YouTube video platform to find out about politics. This means that the platform is more important than local television, radio or national newspapers.

Around 1,100 people were surveyed in September for the IW and Ruhr University Bochum survey. Conspiracy narratives were used to map the general susceptibility to conspiracy beliefs in the population.

257 new digital advertising spaces at Zurich public transport stops

The Zurich City Transit Authority (VBZ) is modernizing the advertising spaces at its stops. 257 previously analog advertising spaces are being replaced with digital screens.

1200_vbz_digitale_haltestellen_img_7008

The VBZ advertising spaces will be put out to tender for marketing from January 15, 2021. The invitation to tender is subject to the public procurement guidelines of the WTO. Bids can be submitted via simap.ch until April 23, 2021. The 1200 advertising spaces will be divided into 10 different lots. "This is to ensure fair and transparent competition between the different advertising marketers," says Martin Suter, head of stops and commercialization at VBZ. A marketer can submit a bid for a single lot or for several. With the division into lots, VBZ wants to give as many marketers of advertising space as possible the opportunity to bid for a lot. This also gives smaller marketers the opportunity to participate in the bidding process.

As the second-largest provider of outdoor advertising in Switzerland and a reliable partner to the advertising industry, VBZ also strives to develop further technologically. With the digitization of part of its advertising space as part of the "Smart Stop" project, VBZ is aligning itself with the changing requirements of the advertising industry - just as it strives to do in relation to the needs of passengers and employees.

For each digital advertising space, one analog one is removed. The approval process took into account ecological, urban planning and safety regulations. As a matter of principle, the most energy-efficient devices are to be used; the LCD advertising screens are operated exclusively with green electricity.

The basis for the selection was based on three criteria: Only stops with a minimum of 40,000 passenger frequencies per week or a minimum of 2 million frequencies per year that also have high pedestrian frequencies were considered. In addition, analog illuminated advertising spaces must already be installed and approved.

By means of a detailed analysis, it was concluded that a total of 64 and thus 15 percent of the total of 436 VBZ stops are suitable for the installation of digital advertising spaces. At these, 50 percent of the average daily passengers in the city of Zurich can be reached. This amounts to 849,000 passengers per day. 372 VBZ stops can continue to be covered exclusively with analog advertising space. The city of Zurich already operates some digital advertising spaces and has had very good experience with them so far.

The contract will start on January 1, 2022, and the lease will run for seven years. The conversion of the 257 previously analog advertising spaces to digital screens is to be completed by summer 2023 at the latest.
