Radio 24 closes anniversary year with 40 hours of live broadcasting

Radio 24 will celebrate its 40th anniversary on Thursday, November 28, 2019. To wrap up the anniversary year, the «Ufsteller» team—Dominik Widmer and Nina Roost—will host a 40-hour nonstop broadcast marathon.

40-jahre-radio24-1

The presenter duo will be joined by former Radio 24 presenters and guests such as radio pioneer Roger Schawinski, TV and radio legend Röbi Koller, Frank Baumann, Nik Hartmann, Patricia Boser, rapper Bligg and young talent Nickless. Together they look back on 40 years of passionate radio making.

On November 28, 1979, Radio 24, then still a pirate station, broadcast for the first time from Pizzo Groppera in Italy to Zurich, 130 kilometers away. From Wednesday at 11:59 p.m., the marathon can be heard on the Livestream, on the Radio 24 Instagram account or - as always - be followed on Radio 24.

Florian Wanner, Managing Director Radio, looks back on a year full of celebrations: "My respect belongs to Roger Schawinski, his team and their pioneering work. The emergence of the Swiss radio landscape is thanks to these pioneers and their sacrifice. I also thank the current Radio 24 team for their tireless efforts and creative ideas throughout the year."

Notch Interactive shows children's drawings that get under your skin

About 420 million children worldwide are growing up in crisis-stricken areas. Many of them suffer severe trauma. This year’s awareness campaign by SOS Children’s Villages documents this firsthand, offering an authentic glimpse into the world of children scarred by war.

nada_krieg_Trauma

The children's drawings, which were created as part of a trauma drawing therapy in the SOS Children's Village Saboura in Syria, also bear witness to the horror of war. In them, the children process terrible war experiences.

SOS Children's Village accompanies these children on site with trusted psychologists and supports them in overcoming their traumas. With the help of trauma drawing therapy, the children learn to express their experiences and fears and gradually find new courage to face life. Today, thanks to this help, the children are also drawing more hopeful pictures again:

nada_frieden_Traum

Such images make Derya Kilic feel positive. She is responsible for Digital & Marketing at SOS Children's Villages Switzerland: "The children, some of whom know nothing but war and destruction, can confide in their caregivers and talk about the past. That shows how progressive our work is."

The drawings and the conversations are at the heart of the campaign. This authentic and highly emotional content gives the donation cause a face.

The nationwide campaign is accompanied by digital and print advertising as well as out-of-home measures. The touching stories are also supported since the campaign launch, on November 4, 2019, by a media cooperation with 20 minutes supported. Notch Interactive is responsible for the optimal orchestration of all analog and digital measures. Among other things, also the campaign-specific Donation form and the individual children's reports, such as the story of Azzam.

Voima makes the underpants of two Zurich advertisers known

Two Zurich advertisers are now producing underpants. The Voima agency publicizes the new brand.

MotherNatureFatherJohnKiss_aussen

With the help of an attention-grabbing poster campaign, the Adliswil-based agency Voima launched what it called "the world's most comfortable underpants" at the beginning of November. The campaign, parts of which are still running, is aimed not only at men but also at women; apparently 60 percent of all women buy the underwear for their spouse, fiancé, boyfriend, brother, lover or milkman.

Posters as the backbone of the national campaign

At hundreds of classic billboard locations and on digital out-of-home screens - supported by Facebook and Instagram (#johnkissrocks) - John Kiss is presenting itself in a decidedly masculine way at the launch, but at the same time always with a wink. Thus, the new brand is clearly positioned as a "men's brand" at the launch with loud headlines such as "Not for Pussies" or "Got Balls?". At the same time, around two dozen lines such as "Rest in Peace" or "Black is the new Green" communicate various product benefits such as the extreme comfort and sustainable production approach of John Kiss textiles.

Two advertisers make underpants

The idea for John Kiss came to the two Zurich advertisers Tamás Kiss and John Leuppi during an agency afternoon. The brand name was born within seconds, and shortly afterwards an AD was brought in to create the logo - the fig leaf, the very first pair of underpants in human history. And after the two first looked at manufacturers halfway around the world, John Kiss underwear is now made in Germany by a traditional textile company in the Swabian Alb region - and all by hand.

The individual items - currently boxer briefs and briefs, optionally available in black or black, with the range to be expanded in the near future - are made of MicroModal from the Austrian company Lenzing. MicroModal is made from domestic beech wood and, according to the company, offers a whole range of advantages: This material is not only extremely skin-friendly, but also very easy to care for. Further it captivates by a "pleasantly silky grasp". Above all, however, its production requires twenty times less water than cotton - but at the same time it is able to absorb up to fifty times more moisture.

In line with the sustainable orientation, the packaging also consists of recycled and recyclable plastic as well as recyclable shipping cartons.

The world is not enough

John and Kiss have big plans for John Kiss: In addition to the webshop Johnkiss.com, they are currently building up distribution with selected retailers and online stores in all corners of Switzerland. At the same time, however, contacts are already in place to tackle distribution in a number of key markets around the world.

More than half the world will be using 5G by 2025

By 2025, 65 percent of the world’s population will be using 5G networks. With faster speeds and more reliable networks, 5G technology will change the way people use smartphones and Internet of Things applications. This is according to a report by the telecommunications company Ericsson.

5g-t

"All previous generations of mobile technology have changed people's lives. With 1G, salespeople suddenly had phones installed in their cars and could do business on the road. 2G moved phones into people's pockets. 3G made cell phones work everywhere, not just in certain regions. 4G brought with it the smartphone app economy. 5G will be the first generation that is made for consumers as well as businesses and communities," explains Peter Linder, Head of 5G Marketing at Ericsson.

According to Ericsson analysts, 13 million people will be registered on 5G networks by the end of 2019. Most of these registrations will come from China. The experts expect 5G to cover almost half (45%) of global mobile communications traffic by 2025.

Data traffic shoots up

Despite the imminent triumph of 5G, the previous generation will remain in place for longer. "With all previous generations, we used the same radio towers, 4G has about the same range as 3G had. The 5G towers, on the other hand, will initially be placed in areas where they are most needed. That's why not everyone will get 5G access as quickly as with previous generations," says Linder.

According to the report, the amount of data in circulation worldwide will continue to increase with 5G. Mobile data traffic already increased by 68% between the third quarter of 2018 and the third quarter of 2019. By 2025, it will increase by an average of 27% per year. This is due to the fact that text content is increasingly being replaced by images and videos. (pte)

TX Group: digital hub for Switzerland

The TX Group forms a network of media and platforms that provide information, orientation, entertainment and services and reach over 80 percent of the Swiss population every day. TX has its roots in the annual "Technology Exchange". This internal event, which was held for the first time in 2015, was attended by 600 employees from the areas of technology, marketing and product last June. This is how the TX brand came into being. TX stands for interdisciplinary collaboration, confidence in the possibilities of new technologies and innovation, according to a statement. With the claim "Uniting platforms," TX wants to position itself as a strong and accessible network of platforms that is ready for change and sets standards.

Pietro Supino, Publisher and Chairman of the Board of Directors: "With the new decentralized organization, we want to create good conditions for the continued dynamic development of our diverse activities. Market proximity and the cultivation of our different métiers with their own cultures are the starting point for this. Beyond their economic importance, journalism and publishing remain a central concern of the Group, to which I will continue to personally commit myself as publisher."

The new name of the Group as well as the associated amendment to the Articles of Association are subject to the passing of a resolution at the Extraordinary General Meeting of Tamedia, which will take place on Friday, December 20, 2019.

Pascale Bruderer and Christoph Tonini new members of the TX Group Board of Directors

At the next Annual General Meeting on April 3, 2020, the election of Pascale Bruderer and Christoph Tonini as new members of the Board of Directors will be proposed.

Pascale Bruderer is a partner of the IT startup Crossiety and a long-time national parliamentarian. The former President of the National Council, Member of the Council of States and President of the State Policy Commission has been involved in the Advisory Board of the Swiss Media Forum since its foundation. She holds a Master's Degree in Political Science from the University of Zurich and studied at Harvard University in Boston (USA) and at the Executive School of the University of St. Gallen.

CEO Christoph Tonini has been a member of Tamedia's management for 17 years. As announced, he will implement the introduction of the new corporate structure by the end of June 2020 and is to become a member of the Board of Directors of TX Group after relinquishing operational responsibility.

From July 1, 2020, President Pietro Supino, Samuel Hügli (Technology & Ventures) and Sandro Macciacchini (Finance & Human Resources) will form the Group Management. The Corporate Development department headed by Daniel Mönch (from July 1, 2020) and the Communications department under the responsibility of Patrick Matthey will remain affiliated to Group Management.

Martin Kall will become Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors and Lead Director as defined by the Swiss Code of Best Practice for Corporate Governance as of January 1, 2020.

Marina de Planta has announced that she will not continue her mandate and will step down from the Board of Directors at the Annual General Meeting on April 3, 2020. She has enriched the Board of Directors with great commitment and will remain Chairman of the Audit Committee until her resignation. The Board of Directors thanks her for the many years of good cooperation and wishes her continued success.

Subject to the resolution of the General Meeting, the Board of Directors of TX Group will be composed as follows: Pietro Supino (Chairman), Martin Kall (Vice Chairman and Lead Director), Pascale Bruderer, Pierre Lamunière, Sverre Munck, Konstantin Richter, Andreas Schulthess and Christoph Tonini.

Cooperation with Made Identity agency

The new brand identity was again developed in collaboration with the Zurich agency Made Identity.

Imprint calls for investment in journalism

The journalists' umbrella organization Impressum, meanwhile, is demanding that Tamedia executives keep their word. As early as June, Tamedia had promised that journalism would remain the core of the group, Impressum wrote in a reaction. The association now expects Tamedia to invest more in journalism.

It is time and justified that the profits from digital marketplaces economically support the still excellent journalism at Tamedia. After all, journalism has brought the company billions in profits and thus made the development of the digital marketplaces possible in the first place, said Imprint CEO Urs Thalmann in the statement. Four Paws launches new campaign against stuffing fattening

Although force-feeding has been banned in Switzerland for over 40 years, more than 200 metric tons of foie gras are imported each year. The animal welfare organization Vier Pfoten aims to raise awareness through its new poster campaign and shed light on the animal cruelty associated with foie gras.

VierPfoten_Stopfmast

Both trade and consumption of and with foie gras are flourishing in this country, because with more than 200 tons of foie gras imports every year, Switzerland is among the disgraceful top 5 largest foie gras importers worldwide. Vier Pfoten wants to counteract this and raise awareness on a large scale about the animal cruelty behind this supposed delicacy. On the occasion of World Anti-Foie Gras Day, the animal welfare organization is launching its new poster campaign and would like to encourage consumers to critically question their own consumption.

Status quo

In winter 2018/19, Vier Pfoten, together with the French-speaking Swiss organization Stop Gavage Suisse, commissioned a comprehensive survey on the subject of foie gras. The Swiss people speak clear words: more than three out of four people consider the production method of foie gras to be animal cruelty - and yet just under one in three people consumes foie gras at least once a year, mostly at Christmas. The fact that there is also animal-friendly produced foie gras is unfortunately a tragic misconception here, because stuffing is always associated with enormous animal suffering.

Even once a year is once too many

Even the supposedly negligible one-off consumption of foie gras at Christmas, for example, poses a major animal welfare problem. For Swiss consumption alone, an estimated one million ducks and geese suffer annually. Four Paws therefore appeals to consumers to reject foie gras consistently and without exception. Because: even once a year is once too much!

Hands off Magret and other stuffing mast products

It is also particularly alarming that a large majority of respondents do not know that magret (mostly de canard) is also produced by means of stuffing - and thus supports this to a large extent unknowingly and unwillingly. The labeling of goose and duck breast is crucial, because a distinction is made between fillet (unstuffed) and magret (stuffed).

Beware also of confit, graisse and gésier - these products also often come from stuffed fattening. Not to be forgotten, in addition to the meat, are the downs, because these can also come from stuffed (and live plucked) animals.

What is stuffing mast?

For foie gras, magret & co., ducks and geese are force-fed - literally stuffed - in the most brutal way until they almost die of exhaustion and are usually kept in the tiniest of cages. For up to three weeks and up to four times a day, a tube or hose is thrust deep into their esophagus and food is pumped directly into their stomachs. At slaughter maturity, their abnormally fatty livers weigh ten times their normal weight. Severe esophageal injuries, respiratory distress, and a mortality rate ten to twenty times higher often accompany this cruel practice.

Halder Record dovetails Reishauer's brand and values

Halder Record supported the gear machine manufacturer Reishauer in its communication rebranding.

Reishauer

In order to be able to react efficiently and agilely in the future, Reishauer has introduced a new corporate communication. Halder Record was entrusted with defining and developing the brand values. The result is an integrated corporate program around the Reishauer brand, communicatively accompanied by employee training, workshops, information material and the corresponding imagery. These complement the existing Reishauer "Circle of Competence".

The corresponding training program on the topics of "Basic Values" and "Leadership Principles", developed by Hophan Management Consulting AG and implemented by Halder Record, is currently being used throughout the company and in Reishauer AG's branches worldwide.

The newly defined values now form the basis for Reishauer's activities as well as its external and internal communication.

Bernese cantonal parliament in favor of Keystone-SDA support

The canton of Bern wants to strengthen the media with indirect funding. The Grand Council gave the green light for this on Monday. Among other things, financial support for the Keystone-SDA news agency is being considered.

bern-keystone-sda

The cantonal parliament adopted a corresponding planning declaration by the state policy commission on the government's report on the possibilities of media promotion by 105 votes to 41.

This will enable the Bernese government to consider promoting Keystone-SDA's two regional offices in Bern and Biel. This is intended to strengthen the regional reporting of those newspaper, radio, TV and online editorial offices in the canton of Bern that rely on the Keystone-SDA offering for their reporting.

Several speakers of the parliamentary groups pointed out the importance of the news agency as a provider of information. The abbreviation SDA stands for "sobriety, objectivity and good information," said EVP spokesman Marc Jost (Thun).

The SVP, on the other hand, did not see any fundamental need for action in media promotion. Moreover, Keystone-SDA was a profit-oriented company that had "sold off" its assets to the shareholders before the merger, as SVP spokesman Markus Aebi (Hellsau) said.

State Secretary Christoph Auer pointed out that the Keystone-SDA company was considering separating the agency services from the commercial part.

Parliament does not want a foundation

By 104 votes to 41 with 1 abstention, Parliament instructed the government to examine measures that take into account the "great importance of independent, diverse quality journalism for the functioning of the democratic state".

The government should consider specific measures to promote print media in the French-speaking part of the canton. A motion to this effect was uncontroversial in parliament and also met with approval from the SVP.

The majority of the parliament, on the other hand, did not want to know anything about the establishment of a state-supported foundation for media promotion or the co-financing of media training programs. The corresponding motions put forward by the SP were clearly rejected by the Grand Council.

However, the government may examine how the training of young people's media skills can be promoted. A corresponding planning declaration was accepted by 96 votes to 48.

The report on the possibilities of media promotion by the canton stems from parliamentary requests. The Grand Council was concerned about diversity on the Bern square after Tamedia announced in 2017 the creation of a central editorial office in Zurich and thus the end of the full editorial offices of Confederation and Bernese Newspaper announced.

Legal basis necessary

Nothing has been decided with the approval of the report. What is needed is an amendment to the cantonal information law to create the legal basis for the funding measures. State Secretary Christoph Auer emphasized that a democratic constitutional state is dependent on functioning media.

Neither the government nor parliament wants direct media funding - for example, in the form of financial contributions to online media. However, the government wants to examine the establishment of a digital platform.

In the final vote, Parliament approved the report and the planning statements by 140 votes to 4. (SDA)

Foundry puts Urban Optimists on the road for Lime

Foundry and Lime are launching the second phase of their «Unlock Life» campaign, which began this summer. This time, the focus is on the personal stories of individual users.

foundry_lime_header

The developed content concept portrays four Urban Optimists - people who participate in or contribute to urban mobility and urban life in their very own way: A poetry slammer, an actress-caterer, a climate activist and two rap educators tell personal stories and explain what "Unlock Life" means in their concrete everyday life.

For example, Stefan, a poetry slammer from Hamburg, talks about the importance of personal freedom as a source of artistic inspiration - and logically presents the whole thing in the form of a poem he has written himself. Or Julia, founder of the environmental initiative "Clean Up Munich": She talks about how important it is to finally follow up the demand for more environmental protection with concrete action - ideally by doing it yourself.

"The cinematic portraits, which like the launch campaign eschew traditional product penetration, tell authentic stories of inspiring people for whom mobility is more than just a ride from point A to point B. The film's content is also a source of inspiration. People who use e-scooters not out of convenience, but out of conviction," says Roman Balzan, Marketing Lead EMEA at Lime.

Sacha Moser, Foundry's founder and chief executive, adds: "The campaign is made for people who don't just blindly consume, and for whom an accumulation of possessions is not the measure of all things. We want to reach those who think about tomorrow today and start living change, reinventing mobility and doing the right thing now."

A total of four ambassador films and one overarching brand film were created in various lengths for a wide range of applications. Distribution is primarily via social media channels.

Scholz & Friends and IWC send watchmaking legend to smartwatch store

As part of an online video campaign for the Swiss luxury watchmaker IWC Schaffhausen, 85-year-old watchmaker Kurt Klaus visits a smartwatch store for the first time. Scholz & Friends is responsible for the campaign.

Kurt_Klaus_1

"With this campaign, we want to target tech-savvy people in particular and show that the 'smartness' of the purely mechanical IWC Portugieser Perpetual Calendar doesn't even have to hide behind so-called smartwatches - quite the opposite," explains Jörg Waschescio, Creative Director at Scholz & Friends Berlin. "In the end, however, we leave it up to the viewer to judge what 'smart' really means to them."

Features like update cycle, battery runtime, and user-friendliness are addressed in three spots.

The campaign will be rolled out worldwide - with the support of OOH motifs.
