Agency at the airport thanks the superheroes with ZVV

In 2019, the ZVV BonusPass was replaced by the SwissPass, which resulted in some extra work for certain companies. For this reason, the ZVV wanted to show its appreciation with a small token of gratitude. The agency am Flughafen is responsible for implementing this initiative.

Due to the changeover, some adjustments had to be made in the processing and backend of various companies, which resulted in additional work.

The agency developed a superhero campaign for the small gift. In a mailing, each HR department was sent a personal code with the request to log in to the landing page and select a small team gift of their choice.

The end of an era: Last telephone booth goes to the museum

A 140-year era is coming to an end: The last Swisscom-operated phone booth in Switzerland was dismantled on Thursday in Baden, Aargau, and will now be placed in a museum. There are still 150 «Telecab 200’0» booths in operation, operated by APG|SGA.

telefonkabine-apg

Usually, telecommunications companies invite the media when they want to market a technical novelty. In the case of the telephone booth in Baden, it's just the other way around: it's the final point in the story of a public icon.

In front of running cameras, a crane lifted the last Publifon operated by Swisscom at Bruggerstrasse 164 in Baden into the air. The telephone booth, originally installed in 1962, will be reinstalled in the Museum of Communication in Bern - as a silent witness to a bygone era.

The end of the telephone booth has been a long time coming. The loss of importance began with the triumph of the cell phone at the end of the 1990s. Just under 25 years ago, more than 58,000 private and public payphones were in operation in Switzerland.

There was a telephone booth in practically every municipality - as prescribed by the Swiss Confederation to Swisscom or the former state-owned company "Swiss Post, Telegraphy and Telephony (PTT)". The booths, which often reeked of cold cigarette smoke, also always contained a number of telephone directories.

Phone cards as a collector's item

Those who made short or long phone calls paid for the calls with coins or a phone card. These colored cards with magnetic strips became objects of desire for collectors. Swisscom is taking back "taxcards" that are still valid until the end of February.

Between 2004 and 2016, the number of calls plummeted by 95 percent, according to Swisscom. For the public phones in the universal service, the number fell by a third in 2016. More than 1,000 devices remained unused for days. The costs for operation and maintenance could no longer be covered by call revenues.

Since last year, Swisscom is no longer obliged to operate "public payphones with prepayment (coins or phone cards)". Over the past two years, Swisscom has scaled back around 3,000 public telephones.

However, the company still keeps public telephones in operation on behalf of hospitals, restaurants, schools and private individuals. 150 round glass booths ("Telecabs 2000") remain: As operator of the booths, the advertising company APG|SGA finances free calls to Swiss fixed and mobile networks. The costs for maintenance, cleaning and calls are co-financed by posters, among other things.

Cabin as a greenhouse

The telephone booth from Bruggerstrasse in Baden is now going to the Museum of Communication in Bern. According to museum curator Juri Jaquemet, the last telephone booth represents a "kind of landline telephone guide fossil" for the museum. It is not only a technical artifact, but is also associated with cultural techniques and processes.

Around 650 other telephone booths have been repurposed or repurposed for other purposes. They now serve as vending machines for drinks or snacks, as locations for defibrillators, bookcases or bars. Swisscom even organized a competition last year with the ten best ideas for giving the booths a second life.

Ideas for a vertical garden house, for a tomato house, for a "do-it-yourself" gallery, for a mini-disco or for the smallest art stage won.(SDA)

Sir Mary designs typeface for Samsung Galaxy Fold 5G launch

For the launch of the new Samsung Galaxy Fold 5G, Sir Mary has developed a font, launching a teaser campaign with a coordinated influencer action.

20191114-Samsung-Fold-Shop-PM-cc

The font is folded like the Samsung cell phone itself and is intended to be a talking point in the fashion and lifestyle environment. Among other things, this is done with an influencer campaign.

In October, around 40 fashion influencers post pictures of themselves on the same day: all of them are wearing a T-shirt on which their first name is written in the unfolded font. What it's all about remains a mystery: next to the pictures, all that appears is #WhatTheFold and the link Dwyc.ch, which leads to an online store. There you can buy nothing but three unique T-shirts, labeled No3, No2 and No1 in the unfolded typography and horrendously expensive: 300 francs, 500 francs and 700 francs. The accompanying text points out that the buyers will be among the first three people to lead the revolution in Switzerland.

The T-shirts are sold out within minutes. The quickest to buy are Lisa, Crismiel and Rimay. Instead of a confirmation of purchase, however, they receive an invitation to Zurich. In a film studio, the three are received by London fashion director Boldizsár Cr and his crew. An exclusive unboxing begins: as they unpack, the three discover not only their T-shirt, but the future of the smartphone: Lisa, Crismiel and Rimay are each rewarded by Samsung with a Galaxy Fold 5G for their speed. The joy is correspondingly great.

The campaign reached over 700,000 people, achieved over 1.6 million impressions and generated over 100,000 organic interactions. At the same time, the new Samsung Galaxy Fold 5G went on sale and were sold out in Switzerland within one day. Sir Mary is currently accompanying the launch with additional posters.

Update implements relaunch of Aids.ch for World Aids Day

To mark World AIDS Day, Update has completed a comprehensive relaunch of the Aids.ch website, the information and advice portal of Aids-Hilfe Schweiz (AHS) for people living with HIV/AIDS. The new website is based on the «Verbands.net» all-in-one solution and follows the «less is more» philosophy.

update_ahs_nov_02

Visitors to a website are often overwhelmed by the immense range of information on offer. This is also the case with Aids.ch, which has grown both in breadth and depth after 13 years of operation and continuous expansion. As part of the "Relaunch 2019" project, which went online just in time for World Aids Day on December 1, the website's design, structure and content were thoroughly revised and reduced. And yet, those seeking advice and information can still find all relevant information on HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infectious diseases in four languages.

In addition to streamlining the structure and implementing a contemporary and, of course, responsive design that is committed to the motto "form follows function", the focus of the relaunch was on setting up a central, comprehensive address database. In addition to the regional offices of the Swiss Aids Federation, this lists all counseling, testing and treatment centers in Switzerland as well as interesting and helpful links on the topic. The addresses can be filtered individually by category. Visitors who are not familiar with Swiss geography can also use a location search function, which displays the available addresses in the immediate vicinity based on the current position of the device being used.

The fundamental restructuring of the AHS website was also used for a CMS changeover. The complete solution "Verbands.net" based on the content management framework "Processwire" is now used as the technical foundation. To meet the wishes and requirements of AHS, individual "Verbands.net" modules were modified and new site elements and functions were developed, including for the front page and the connection to the externally operated store, which now automatically handles all design, layout and structural changes.

Update has been supporting the AHS in its online activities since 2002. The new Aids.ch website is the fourth version that the Zurich-based agency has had the pleasure of realizing together with the AHS managers.

Save Food, Fight Waste: Karling and Pusch fight against food waste

The Karling Agency, in collaboration with the Pusch Foundation, has launched a campaign calling for action to combat food waste. Around 70 organizations and associations are participating, including federal agencies and cantons, as well as companies such as Migros, Coop, Manor, Nestlé, and many others.

FoodNinja_F12

The fact that around a third of food is wasted in Switzerland has been in the press for some time. What most people don't know: Private individuals are clearly the biggest food waste offenders in terms of environmental impact. This is rather surprising. After all, people in Switzerland are considered world champions when it comes to recycling, for example.

Why is so much food thrown away in this country of all places? The answer: lack of awareness, abundance, hectic pace and low food prices. The Swiss population is still fairly carefree when it comes to food waste.

Karling has launched a campaign under the motto "Save Food, Fight Waste." The aim of the campaign is to change the behavior of consumers in Switzerland. The aim is for people to become "food ninjas" and declare war on their own food waste. However, the food ninja movement is not a finger-wagging campaign, but is intended to be fun: after all, it's about "enjoying food instead of throwing it away".

The face of the Food Ninja movement is an older "ninja". With her experience from the past, she still knows how to handle food with care. In entertaining films, banners, posters and advertisements, our Food Ninja shows how best to fight against food waste.

The heart of the initiative is the Savefood.ch website, where you can find tips, tricks and recipes on the topic of food waste. Right from the start, you can test your knowledge on the subject of food waste. Soon, a Food Ninja Academy will also be launched for the multi-week, playful training to become a Food Ninja - including customizable learning content that takes into account the respective knowledge of the recipients.

The multi-year initiative can now be seen throughout Switzerland. New content in the form of blogs and films will follow on an ongoing basis, both offline and, above all, online. In future, the savefood.ch website will also feature user-generated content, where people can share their recipes made from rescued food, for example.

Around 70 well-known companies, organizations and associations are already partners of the Food Ninja movement. These include three federal offices, 20 cantons, Swiss farmers, retail giants such as Migros, Coop, Aldi, Denner, Lidl and Manor, as well as companies such as Nestlé and organizations such as consumer protection and the WWF.

Agency at the airport matches Schöb with new customers

Schöb, a provider of timber construction systems, also has a large in-house joinery where individual interior fittings and kitchens are manufactured. And the current campaign that Agentur am Flughafen has implemented for the family business is all about winning leads for the joinery.

Landingpage

"What is your first name in Celtic?" - "Who will you be traveling with soon?" - "Which celebrity do you look like?" Tests of this kind are very popular and the results are usually diligently shared with followers.

Schöb's joinery took advantage of this widespread behavior: Together with the agency at the airport "Timber"The game is a swiping, matching and winning lead generation game in which participants can find out whether they are more likely to "match" with a kitchen or a bathroom from Schöb.

The web-based mini platform was advertised digitally and in analog form from November 2019 to January 2020. With a three-dimensional mini-kitchen that was distributed or placed in the milk crates of 16,000 Liechtenstein households, quirky native advertising stories in the regional press and on Facebook, people were encouraged to click on Timbertest.ch and, with a little luck, win a coffee machine.
