Contexta gets to the bottom of treason in Appenzell

Appenzel ler Käse breaks new ground and tells an epic story about the secret recipe of the spicy cheese. In a brilliant 66-second film, Contexta and the Giger brothers paint a horror scenario.

In the film "Nightmare in Appenzell", the spicy Appenzeller cheese goes to the substance: The secret recipe is betrayed. A jolt goes through the entire Appenzellerland, everyone is looking for the traitor. He has no choice but to flee.

Appenzeller cheese communication has long revolved around the secret recipe. Time and again, the brand and the agency tell stories in which someone tries to elicit the secret from the silent dairymen. And in each case, of course, the attempt remains unsuccessful. Because the secret of its taste is the capital of Appenzeller cheese. So it is only logical to tell this story in a different way.

For the realization, the creative nomads of Contexta were able to win the film production Stories and the young Swiss talents Flurin and Silvan Giger. The film was shot in the Appenzellerland, and the majority of the actors are real Appenzellers.

The film will go on air on Monday on various online channels in Switzerland and Germany. The launch will be accompanied by appropriate content on Appenzeller Käse's social media channels, including question games about the film and a competition.

Wunderman Thompson ushers in new era for Audi

Audi’s new global brand campaign redefines «Vorsprung durch Technik.» Wunderman Thompson, Audi, and MediaCom have launched a multimedia campaign.

Audi

Audi launched a new, global brand campaign at the beginning of October. The slogan "Future is an attitude" is intended to drive the transformation to sustainable and digital premium mobility. In addition, the focus is to be increasingly on human needs and values alongside technological progress.

The all-electric Audi e-tron models serve as the campaign's drawing cards. In moving images and print, natural light, warm colors and unconventional angles were used, in which people take a place in the foreground.

"The dedicated coordination of TV, print, digital and social media enables versatile visibility with high reach. Premium placements ensure optimum performance, while parallel mobile spots also reach second-screen users. Other digital special advertising formats with spot integration and large-format selection on premium environments guarantee the best possible placement of the message in our target group. Innovative interactive formats also enable the communication approach "Future is an attitude" to be experienced directly," explains Katharina Momani, Head of Marketing Audi Switzerland. On the new Progress Audi web platform, all content is brought together and users are offered further background stories.

The campaign can be seen in Switzerland from October to the end of December on TV, in ads, on large-scale online formats such as NZZ Video Wall and Watson Branding Day, interactive banners, InArticle videos, and on YouTube. Furthermore, broad-based communication is planned on the social media platforms Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and Pinterest. For dealer communication, email binders and advertisements have been created.

A rebranding for Helvetiaplatz

On Friday, the tram and bus stops at Zurich’s Helvetiaplatz were renamed «Heimatplatz.» Who’s behind this? The agency Heimat Zürich, which is based at the square and has a suspiciously similar name, apparently knows nothing about it.

heimat

On Friday, the words "Heimatplatz" were emblazoned in blue and white on the boards of the VBZ bus stops on Zurich's Helvetiaplatz. The Heimat Zürich agency, located on Helvetiaplatz, is clueless about who is behind the guerrilla action: "We only drive cabs - but are currently in our home office. That's why we haven't seen it yet and haven't heard anything about it," the agency says.

But she wants to take a look at the next opportunity - probably around Easter 2021. The agency also feels honored that a square is being named after her: "It certainly sounds like a funny action at a time when the public space is rather slowed down.

How the communications industry deals with stress

Three out of four communications professionals are responsible for multiple high-priority, time-sensitive tasks simultaneously. More than half also believe they must be available at all times. Among the biggest stressors in the communications industry are unreliable team members, poor leadership, and unclear job descriptions, as shown by a recent survey by News Aktuell.

News Aktuell

However, the survey shows that well over half of PR professionals are paying more attention to their own health since the Corona pandemic and are focusing on sports and social contacts to counteract the stress of the job.

Permanent availability and parallel tasks

When asked whether they feel they have to be permanently reachable at work - even after work - 51 percent of communications professionals answered "Yes, definitely" (24 percent) or "Somewhat yes" (27 percent). Significantly more men state that they believe they have to be permanently available in any case (30 percent versus 19 percent women). A total of only 43 percent said "Rather no" (21 percent) or "No, definitely not" (22 percent) to this question.
Stress point multitasking

In addition to permanent accessibility, multitasking also ensures a high workload. Three quarters of the survey participants tend to work on several tasks at the same time under high time pressure and bear responsibility at the same time (77 percent). "Rather rarely" or "never" is the case for only 14 percent of respondents. The answers to this question also differed to some extent between male and female communications professionals: While 81 percent of the women surveyed said they were rather to very often responsible for too many tasks in parallel, only 72 percent of the men surveyed felt this pressure.

Interpersonal factors biggest stress triggers

The greatest stress for communications professionals is unreliable team members. 30 percent of respondents are stressed when they cannot rely on their colleagues. Women are significantly more stressed by unreliability than men (35 percent compared to 25 percent). Both genders feel almost equally under pressure when management provides poor leadership or tasks are not clearly defined. In each case, 27 percent of communications professionals cite this as a stress factor. Just under one in four PR professionals also feels stressed by too much work or technical problems (24 percent each).

Fewer communications professionals, on the other hand, are stressed by too much pressure or responsibility (16 percent). Too few staff, and thus more work for the existing team, also causes stress for only one in seven (14 percent).

More mindfulness since Corona

Covid-19 has caused many communications professionals to become more aware of their personal well-being. For example, 62 percent of survey participants say they are paying more attention to their health since the pandemic began than before. 28 percent continue to take the same care of their health as before the pandemic, and only 7 percent have taken rather or definitely less care of their health since then.

In terms of increased mindfulness, there are no significant differences between male and female respondents; women are a few percentage points ahead (65 percent), but the majority of men have also been paying more attention to their own health since the pandemic began (60 percent).

What do communications professionals do specifically to reduce professional stress and stay healthy? Most respondents rely on physical compensation through sports and social contacts. For 40 percent, exercise and for 37 percent time with family and friends are the most popular anti-stress measures. Hobbies or other leisure activities, in turn, help just over one in four survey participants to cope better with stressful situations at work (28 percent). Digital detox is the ideal way for one in five to switch off and wind down (22 percent). Communications professionals, on the other hand, rely less often on healthy eating (18 percent) or meditation (16 percent). Shopping is the most popular anti-stress remedy for a mere 2 percent of respondents.

Women relax more often with the help of Digital Detox than men (25 percent to 17 percent). As many as 4 percent of male communications professionals go shopping to relax, compared with just 1 percent of women.

News Aktuell

Participation in the representative online survey "Stress in the communications industry" by Civey on behalf of News Aktuell, 500 professionals in communications, marketing and media in Germany were surveyed from August 5 to August 18, 2020. The statistical error is between 8.4 and 8.5 percent. The percentages were rounded. Multiple answers were possible for the questions "What triggers the highest stress for you during work?" and "What helps you personally in particular as a counterbalance to better deal with stressful situations at work?"

Content and form sets up carrots for donkey help Switzerland

With a giant carrot and 18,000 real carrots, Eselhilfe Schweiz, together with Inhalt und Form, is calling for donations to help donkeys in need. All you need is a smartphone and Twint.

Inhalt und Form

The Huber family has made it her life's work to track down abused donkeys and give them a healthy life in dignity on her farm in Feldbach.

But that costs money. That's why Inhalt und Form went looking for ideas and, together with Eselhilfe Schweiz and with the kind support of APG and Twint, created an unusual poster that calls for donations in a simple way.

On Thursday, the Day of the Donkey, large carrot samplings including flyers and Twint codes were held at the main train stations in St. Gallen, Lucerne and Zurich. 18,000 carrots and 5,000 apples were distributed.

In addition to a headline, the poster in the shape of a carrot is also equipped with a Twint QR code. Passers-by can thus easily donate in passing and thus do something good. The work is already on display.

"Migros Ice Tea Beats" is the best cross-media campaign

On Thursday evening, the Goldbach Crossmedia Award was presented for the 16th time in the Samsung Hall. The campaign "Migros Ice Tea Beats" by Migros-Genossenschafts-Bund wins the award. Among the 24 submitted campaigns, Wunderman Thompson Switzerland impressed the jury the most.

Goldbach

For the third time, the Crossmedia Award took place at the Samsung Hall as part of the Best of Swiss Web Award Night. The 14-member independent jury of experts, headed by Marco Taborelli, chose the "Migros Ice Tea Beats" campaign by Wunderman Thompson Switzerland.

Since music has been proven to influence the perception of taste, Migros used an interactive campaign by Wunderman Thompson Switzerland to challenge its young target group to create a new iced tea flavor. Using a "Sound & Video" mixer, young customers were able to create their own personal music video from iced tea ingredients on IceTeaBeats.ch. A digital mobile-first platform translated ingredients into beats and melodies, enabling endless flavor compositions that could be shared on social media platforms. From the digital compositions, four new iced tea flavors were selected and produced. These mixed up the shelves for four weeks and could be rated online. Voting and sales figures ultimately selected the new winning product: the new "Watermelon/Kiwi" flavor experience has been permanently available in the range since September 2019.

Women are underrepresented in German streaming series

In German streaming series, men play twice as many leading roles as women. Only 35 percent of the central roles are cast with women. This means that German productions fall below the global average of 42 percent female leads, as a study by the University of Rostock shows.

Streaming-Serien
Women are underrepresented in streaming series - in German productions even more so than in a global comparison. (Source: MalisaFoundation.org)

According to the study, the diversity of female roles in German streaming offerings also leaves a lot to be desired. Women are not only seen less frequently, but are mostly young and slim. 49 percent of their roles are in romantic formats. The report by the University of Rostock, funded by the Film- und Medienstiftung Nordrhein-Westfalen, the Malisa Foundation and ZDF, states that they pursue professions that "emphasize their emotional competence"

"The study shows once again how important it is to confront perceived truths with facts," explains Maria Furtwängler, actress and co-founder of the Malisa Foundation. It is a shame that the public still has to do without female role models.

The survey also showed that 89% of the central roles in German productions are played by people of white skin color. None of the main characters in the series surveyed were black or Asian, with the remaining eleven percent belonging to the Middle East.

For the study, the University of Rostock examined almost 200 series from Netflix, Amazon Prime, Sky and TNT Germany that were released between January 2012 and July 2019. (SDA/swi)

The study "Gender representations and diversity in streaming and SVOD offerings" was conducted under the direction of Prof. Dr. Elizabeth Prommer from the University of Rostock and sheds light on the gender and role models that can be seen in series from streaming providers on the German market. The study was funded by the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, the MaLisa Foundation and ZDF. The The full results of the study can be found on the MaLisa Foundation homepage.
