The Redcross Challenge of Feinheit and SRK was a success

In March 2020, Feinheit developed a game for the Swiss Red Cross called the «Redcross Challenge.» After three rounds of play since its launch, over 152,000 questions were answered in nearly 40,000 challenges.

SRK
In the third round of matches in the fall, duels against Mujinga Kambundji (left) and Mélanie Freymond (right) expanded the content of the Redcross Challenge.

In the Redcross Challenge, game players could duel against celebrities and learn facts about development cooperation in the process (Werbewoche.ch reported). The online quiz of the Swiss Red Cross has been played almost 40,000 times in the past six months. Over 75,000 interested people have accessed the Redcross Challenge website.

"These are gratifying figures," says Katharina Schindler, Head of Communications International Cooperation at the SRC. More than 80 percent of those who played completed the quiz, which speaks for high quality and fun. "The aim was to convey facts and encourage young people to think about development cooperation issues," concludes Schindler.

With its awareness-raising work, the SRC demonstrates the positive impact of development cooperation. The goal was achieved: The players spent 328 hours dealing with questions on development cooperation. This is the equivalent, for example, of a train journey from Bern to Zurich with 328 passengers playing the quiz incessantly on their smartphones for an hour, answering over 152,000 questions.

"We are very happy with the qualitative elements of the results. They are pretty much exactly what we were aiming for in the pitch at the end of 2019. Various insights that can be gained from the quiz data are also exciting. A small, non-representative insight into the knowledge level of those playing, so to speak," says Moritz Friess from Feinheit. The social media game ran primarily on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter channels.

SRK
Switzerland has committed to something. But few of the Redcross players knew that we are not currently living up to it. Currently, Switzerland invests less than 0.5 percent of its economic output in development cooperation.

Scholz & Friends launches new communications presence for Atupri

Health insurer Atupri and its new lead agency, Scholz & Friends Zurich, are launching the brand’s new communications campaign.

Atupri

The new guiding principle "Healthy is what's good for you," with which Scholz & Friends Zurich won a multi-stage selection process for Atupri, is intended to redefine health. It places people's diverse individual needs and their personal health satisfaction at the center of a self-determined, holistic understanding of health.

What contributes to the well-being

In TV commercials and online films, the campaign focuses on very different aspects that can contribute to well-being: a plea for more wanting and less needing, not only for superfood, but also for great food, for simply sleeping in, or for passionate hobbies. The main thing is that it feels good. The motifs of the new Atupri campaign in a concise black-and-white look tie in with the previous brand presence. The film was directed by Ben Strebel and photographed by Cecil Arp.

Study and Awareness Flight

The multi-stage orchestrated campaign kicked off with the representative PR study "What makes people feel good: A picture of the mood in Switzerland." This was followed by a nationwide awareness flight to establish the new brand attitude on TV, out-of-home and radio. Online videos, display and mobile banners, social media and native ads communicate the target-group-specific offers with which Atupri aims to support the well-being of its policyholders - from AtupriFit events to content offers on the topic of sleep and expert knowledge. In addition, brand ambassador Nicola Spirig provides insight into dine that is good for her personally. The campaign is rounded off by an accompanying sweepstake promotion and BTL measures ranging from customer magazines to direct mailings.

Scholtysik & Partner: Code-generated brand design for Digitaltage 2020

The Scholtysik & Partner agency developed a brand design based on an algorithm for Digital Days 2020 and designed the online platform for the Switzerland-wide event, which will take place for the first time as an online event from November 1 to 3.

Scholtysik & Partner

Following the opening by President Simonetta Sommaruga on November 1, interested parties can register online for three days at Digitaltage.swiss or at over 20 venues in all parts of the country, actively participate in discussions on current topics and learn specific digital skills. In total, more than 400 free events are on the program.

Algorithmic design

The key visual for the Swiss Digital Days 2020, developed by Scholtysik & Partner in collaboration with Bigger Picture, demonstrates that algorithms also have creative potential. The code-generated animation is an artistic interpretation of a data series on the frequency and intensity of Swiss internet use since the first Digital Day in 2017 and thus a creative examination of the digital transformation in Switzerland.

Based on this data-based animation, the designers at Scholtysik & Partner created the overall appearance of the national campaign days - from the design of the online platform to animated broadcasting elements and studio designs to the presence at all locations throughout Switzerland.

Online event platform in record time

As a result of the ongoing pandemic, the Swiss Digital Days will mainly take place online this year. The decision to do so was made in early summer, and research into existing solutions for online mass events on the market did not yield any satisfactory results. Within a few weeks, the UX team at Scholtysik & Partner worked closely with the implementation partners at Update and Ownbit have developed a streaming and interaction platform.

The platform meets the diverse requirements of the various event formats, such as learning labs, demos, talks or startup battles, and the correspondingly different needs of the audience: information, exchange, discussion, learning or entertainment. Scholtysik & Partner continuously validates user needs in the immediate pre-event phase and incorporates new user feedback into the platform. The online platform will be the linchpin of the Swiss Digital Days 2020 for the first time.

Evoq and Htp realize Swiss brand map

Swiss brands have many exciting stories to tell. The map presented at the 2020 Swiss Brand Congress features 100 companies that are open to visitors. Evoq and Htp St. Gallen created the map.

Evoq

The map geographically locates the best-known Swiss brands. Visitors get an insight into production plants, learn about traditional Swiss craftsmanship or taste their way through the product range. At many of the brands that can be visited, young and old can even lend a hand themselves - be it in chocolate production, in a show dairy or at the handlebars on a test ride on an e-bike made in Switzerland.

The folded map is supplemented with the digital offer on Brand landscape.ch. More than 900 traditional Swiss brands are recorded in the online brand encyclopedia. The 100 brands on the excursion map are linked directly to the visit offers. This means that all details about the location, visiting times and activities can be called up centrally, which simplifies trip planning.

Evoq Communications and Htp St.Gallen have been regularly publishing news from the Helvetic brand landscape for over 10 years. The non-profit project is realized with the support of Switzerland Tourism and companies such as Rugenbräu, Camille Bloch, Appenzeller Käse, Flyer and Kalt print+online. The map can be ordered on the website for a nominal fee - as well as the traditional brand poster.

Responsible at HTP St.Gallen: Stephan Feige. Responsible at Evoq Communications: Adrian Schaffner. Consulting: Simone Winistörfer. Design: Philipp Schilling, Sara Streule. Programming: Beatrice Burkart. Prepress and printing: Cold print+online.

Friendly greetings bubbles for Rivella

Rivella, the traditional Swiss soft drink, will be sending “Friendly Greetings” to its bottles in the future. In a multi-stage pitch, the Zurich-based agency prevailed over well-known competitors and will be responsible for Rivella’s social media channels and themed promotions starting in October.

Freundliche Grüsse

"Content and promotions should become more relevant to the target group in the future and thus strengthen the Rivella brand in the long term," explains Pascal Deville, co-founder and creative director of Freundliche Grüsse. This is also promised by the new formula that Freundliche Grüsse will rely on in the future: Rivella + Relevance = Rivellance. Dept receives double quality certificate from IAB

The Zurich-based digital agency Dept has received the SEA and SEO quality certificate from IAB Switzerland.

 IAB Switzerland

So that customers can recognize a serious, professional and competent agency partner, IAB Switzerland - representing the digital advertising industry in Switzerland - has developed certificates in SEA and SEO. Dept has successfully gone through both certification processes and received both the SEA and SEO quality certificates. This makes the agency one of the first digital agencies to receive both certificates from IAB.

Dept's teams were audited along the criteria of experience, working methods, customer satisfaction and commitment to the market. "The process was intensive, but it also gave us independent certification that we work professionally for our customers and according to officially defined standards," says Lukas Stuber, Managing Director at Dept. The two certificates are valid until 2022, after which they must be renewed.

Thjnk Zurich and Hotz Brand Consultants launch CSX for Credit Suisse

With its «CSX» and «CSX Young» products, Credit Suisse is launching a new digital offering. The product brand was developed in collaboration with Hotz Brand Consultants, and the launch campaign was created by Thjnk Zurich.

Thjnk Zürich

With CSX, all banking transactions can be carried out via app on the smartphone. In addition, there is an online-capable debit mastercard for free international transactions and various self-service functions in the areas of investment and retirement planning. The offering is to be steadily expanded in the coming months.

New product brand

Credit Suisse worked closely with Hotz Brand Consultants to develop and realize the new product brand. In addition to the brand strategy and architecture, the agency also developed the design for CSX and worked intensively with the Credit Suisse UX/UI team on the digital experience of CSX.

Launch campaign asks and answers questions

For the holistic launch campaign draws - as already done for the "Bank for Entrepreneurs" campaign -Thjnk Zurich. In close collaboration, a campaign platform was developed from the customer's point of view. The question "Can't you be a little less bank and a little more app?" is on the one hand the voice of the target group and on the other hand the mindset on which all advertising measures are based. "In all advertising materials, concrete and sometimes challenging questions are posed to the old banking world, which we at Credit Suisse then answer just as concretely: Sure it's possible," says Judith Schulte, Head Marketing Initiatives & Advertising at Credit Suisse.

Customer Call

The centerpiece of the campaign is the film "Customer Call," which was realized entirely in Switzerland with director Martin Werner. The individual vignettes of the film and the print implementations are independent - and at the same time a tongue-in-cheek homage to well-known scenes from pop culture.

The 360-degree campaign starts at the end of October at the awareness level, continues through the consideration level, and ends at the performance level in mid-January of next year. In addition to TV, OOH and POS, various digital and social advertising media segmented by target groups and driven by data will be used, flanked by content partnerships and an influencer campaign.

Media in demand in Corona times, but poorly paid

In times of crisis in general—and during the COVID-19 pandemic in particular—the public turns to news journalism. However, this increased usage does not generate additional revenue for the media. On the contrary: advertising revenue is plummeting, and online, people are reluctant to pay.

Informationsjournalismus

This is why new payment models are needed. Direct media funding also remains indispensable, as the Research Center for the Public Sphere and Society (Fög) at the University of Zurich points out in its yearbook "Quality of the Media 2020" published on Monday.

The center has been examining the development of the Swiss media every year since 2010. Since then, no other event has had such a strong impact on the Swiss media as the Covid-19 pandemic, according to the report.

Trust in traditional media

The findings show that people are increasingly turning to the information media during the crisis. The need for verified facts and reliable information is increasing. Regardless of age, people put their trust in traditional media. 44 percent of those surveyed said they trusted these media. The figure for social media was only 19 percent.

A study published in advance by the Fög also found that the quality of pandemic reporting was relatively high. However, this cannot compensate for the slump in advertising revenue through the increase in readership. On the contrary: the pandemic is exacerbating the precarious financial situation that information journalism has been in for years.

News grouches largest group

Younger people also consumed more news during the pandemic, but only for a short time. Young people with below-average news consumption now make up the largest user group at 37%.

The Fög investigated this phenomenon in more detail. It was found that this group is interested in mobilizing topics such as climate strikes or #Metoo if the information fits in with their own identity or environment.

They prefer news that is attractively presented, easy to understand and easy to integrate into everyday life. News abstainers only want to pay for this if journalistic content from different media is offered on a platform with a flat rate.

Less classification

Another conclusion of the report is that the media's dependence on experts is increasing during the coronavirus crisis. This is hardly surprising, as only 2.1 percent of all media articles deal with science. This proportion has remained stable over the last five years.

The media's categorization performance fell drastically. In 2019, 14% of articles were used for categorization, compared to 36% in 2015.
As in previous years, a decline in diversity was also evident in 2019. The media covered an ever smaller range of topics and geographical areas.

Diversity also decreased within the media, as more and more people are sharing the same posts. The proportion of these shared articles rose from 10% to 21% between 2017 and 2019. This was particularly pronounced in national political reporting. There, the proportion of shared articles rose from 21% in 2017 to 41% in 2019.

Little willingness to pay

New payment systems are gaining in importance in view of falling advertising revenues. However, only 13% of the population wanted to pay for online news in 2020, compared to 10% in 2016. At 19%, young women between the ages of 18 and 24 were the most willing to pay.

According to Fög, this raises hopes that a generation is growing up that is willing to pay. New payment models tailored to the needs of the younger generation, such as "Spotify for journalism", could also have an impact. (SDA)
