Torsten Tomczak (*1959), Prof. Dr., has been Professor of Business Administration and Marketing at the University of St. Gallen since 1993. After studying business administration at the Free University of Berlin, Torsten Tomczak first gained practical experience in a retail company from 1984 to 1986, then wrote his doctoral thesis and received his doctorate from the Free University of Berlin in 1989. He spent a year exploring the world of advertising at an international agency until 1990, before completing his habilitation at the University of St. Gallen two years later. After receiving the Venia Legendi, the university lecturer finally made science, research and teaching his passion. From 1994 to 2008, the holder of the Chair of Business Administration and Marketing was Director of the Institute of Marketing and Commerce at the University of St. Gallen and from 2007 to 2009, he was Head of the Business Administration Department at the university. In 2007, the popular university lecturer received the "Credit Suisse Award for Best Teaching" presented by the student body of the University of St. Gallen, and the extensive list of publications by the full professor, who was also responsible for the research area as Vice-Rector of the University of St. Gallen from 2011 to 2015, is probably far from complete. It currently includes over 30 books and around 300 specialist articles on marketing-related topics. As part of research programs and projects, the university professor, who loves the "big city near the Alps", has been working with numerous renowned companies from industry, trade and the service sector for years.
