Evoq launches campaign on the social commitment of the cantonal banks

In a national campaign, the cantonal banks are highlighting their social commitment to promoting responsible money management among young people. At the heart of the campaign, which was developed by the Zurich-based agency Evoq, is a TV commercial that emphasizes the importance of financial literacy.

VSKB_TVC_Still_Tochter

Teenagers and young adults have an above-average risk of debt. For this reason, the cantonal banks are working together with teachers' associations in the FinanceMission initiative to improve young people's financial literacy. As co-initiators and financial supporters, the cantonal banks are creating the conditions to teach schools how to deal with money in an exciting way.

The TV commercial takes a humorous look at an everyday family situation: The family is sitting down to dinner together, eating spaghetti. Slightly defiant, the 13-year-old daughter confronts her parents with the fact that she has found a way to afford her dream cell phone. The parents are visibly surprised to hear this. Apparently, their clever daughter has learned how to plan income and expenditure at school and now knows exactly how to fulfill her wish on her own.

In terms of creation, the challenge was to create a campaign with young people that is essentially tailored to parents: "We have learned that advertising with young people is also aimed at young people. To address parents as a target group, we took the topic out of school and onto the family table," says Dominique Haussener, Managing Director of evoq communications.

The campaign starts on September 16, 2019 and will be broadcast on all national TV channels and on the major private stations. Evoq has also developed campaign themes that will be used in advertisements, on posters, in social media and in the branches of the cantonal banks. They use the protagonists from the commercial and focus on the dialog between parents and children in a condensed form.

To optimize the reach and broad impact of the campaign, online video ads will be placed on Swiss news platforms alongside traditional TV advertising. "The InRead video formats are currently among the best available to us online in terms of the quality of the environment and placement," says Sandro Prezzi, who is responsible for media strategy and planning with his agency PMC Prezzi Media.

In order to meet the information needs of the core target group of parents, PMC has entered into partnerships with the most important parenting magazines and online platforms. A series of articles provides tips and information to deepen the family's financial knowledge.

The brand and advertising agency Evoq was responsible for the concept and also implemented the campaign for the various channels and media. The commercial was produced by Onfilm and directed by Luki Frieden. The campaign subjects were photographed by Sandra Bielmeier.

Chocolate brand Munz fights loneliness with Pro Familia

«Together Is Better» is the name of the new initiative launched by the chocolate brand Munz and Pro Familia Switzerland. It addresses the feeling of loneliness—a growing phenomenon in an era dominated by social media—and offers a helping hand toward new connections. The campaign was created by the St. Gallen-based agency Vitamin 2.

Gemeinsam-ist-besser---eine-Initiative-von-Munz-und-Pro-Familia-Schweiz-0-59-screenshot

Every third person in Switzerland feels lonely. Among 15- to 24-year-olds, the figure is as high as 44 percent. The reason: Instead of doing something with friends, people spend their time online much more often. In figures: More than three hours a day. Personal time with friends or family, on the other hand, amounts to just one hour. The Maestrani chocolate factory, which produces Munz, wanted to counteract this alarming development. The St. Gallen agency Vitamin 2 and its network partners therefore developed an honest commitment instead of relying on clichéd chocolate advertising.

"A company that has been in business for 165 years thinks long-term," Markus Vettiger, CEO of Maestrani, points out. "The reason why our brand identity now also deliberately conveys our values."

With the idea "Together is better", the St.Gallen agency conceived an initiative that touches emotionally and shakes people up. Instead of beautifully colored pictures with happy people, more serious scenes were deliberately staged and questions were asked that make people think. It goes without saying that the first step out of loneliness is difficult, and that reconciling words after an argument are hard to say. Munz therefore focuses on small gestures that connect people. And with tools, he also offers a hand for new encounters.

This also convinced Philipp Gnaegi, director of the umbrella organization Pro Familie Schweiz, which is committed to the well-being of Swiss society on a political, corporate and personal level. He supports the "Together is better" initiative and acts as a credible co-sponsor of the campaign.

The complete appearance of the Munz brand was revised. "Together is better" is reflected in everything from communication to packaging at the POS. "Only if everything comes from the same mold can the initiative achieve its full effect," Maestrani Brand Manager Michael Schopper is convinced. TV spots, digital moving image posters for train stations, online videos and social media content have been created. The website serves as the hub Together.org. The national campaign will be launched on September 16, 2019.

Revision of copyright law signed and sealed - replay restrictions off the table

After years of debate, the new copyright law has been finalized. The National Council and Council of States have reached an agreement on the last remaining controversial point. The bill is now ready for the final vote.

replay-tv

The aim of the revision was to adapt copyright law to the internet age: The Federal Council wanted to better protect the interests of creative artists without criminalizing Internet users.
As interests diverged greatly, he set up the Agur 12 working group, in which cultural professionals, producers, users, consumers and the administration were represented. The amendments to the law that have now been passed are based on their proposals.

Hosting provider in duty

The core of the proposal is the fight against piracy. This is to be carried out by Swiss hosting providers that store content. Already today, providers generally remove content from their servers upon notification if it infringes copyright.

In future, Swiss hosting providers - if they create a particular risk of copyright infringements - will have to do more and ensure that the illegal content is not uploaded again. If they fail to do so, they can be prosecuted under criminal law. In addition, a legal basis will be created to collect IP addresses of copyright infringers.

Longer protection period

The term of protection for music and film creators as well as music and film producers will be extended from fifty to seventy years. Protection for photographs will also be extended.
Today, copyright law only protects photographs if they have an individual character. Professional and amateur photographers can hardly defend themselves against unwanted use of their images. In future, all photographs will be protected.

Remuneration for video-on-demand

The remuneration for filmmakers for video-on-demand use is now collected via the collecting societies. The filmmakers expect higher revenues from collective management.
The video-on-demand remuneration system is limited to films by Swiss producers and films from countries that provide for a collective right to remuneration. In the case of film music, the existing system of voluntary exploitation by a collecting society remains in place.

Lower rates for libraries

Public and publicly accessible libraries will benefit from preferential tariffs. With this regulation, Parliament was reacting to a decision by the Federal Arbitration Commission last December, which the collecting societies had appealed to.

The Arbitration Commission ruled that libraries must also pay a copyright fee for rental if they charge users a flat fee - not just if they charge per book. In return, Parliament has now decided on a preferential rate.

Controversial hotel tax

The last point of contention was whether or not hotels, hospitals and prisons should continue to pay for the use of public works in their rooms. The National Council initially wanted to abolish the levy - primarily to relieve the burden on hotels, which have to pay for TV sets in their rooms.

On Monday, however, it relented and followed the lead of the Council of States. The levy will be retained. Opponents of the abolition had warned of conflicts with international regulations. In addition, the abolition would be at the expense of creative artists.

No ancillary copyright

An ancillary copyright for press publishers was also discussed during the consultations: the operators of social networks and other internet platforms should owe publishers a fee if they make journalistic content accessible.
The EU recently adopted such an ancillary copyright. However, it is still unclear how the individual countries will implement this. Parliament therefore decided in the end to wait and see and not to delay the current revision because of this issue. The law would have to be revised again in the foreseeable future anyway, it said.

Fuss about Replay TV

Parliament also considered and rejected a regulation on replay TV. Many viewers switch to fast-forward during advertising, which means that advertising revenue is lost. The National Council's Legal Affairs Committee therefore wanted to enshrine in law that cable network companies may only allow advertising to be replayed if the TV broadcaster has agreed to this.

However, the proposal fell through. Opponents feared that television broadcasters would not allow advertising to be skipped or would charge fees for this, which would be passed on to consumers.

The Federal Council had originally planned a number of other measures, for example against peer-to-peer networks such as music file-sharing networks. However, these were met with criticism during the consultation process. A total of around 1,200 comments with a volume of 8,000 pages were received. (SDA)

WEMF launches new media database for campaign planning

The WEMF media database (MedienDB) has been online since Monday. It enables end-to-end ad planning, from analysis and calculation to booking. Leading Swiss Agencies (LSA) and the Swiss Association of Advertisers (SWA) are supporting the market launch of the database solution.

wemflogo

As of this morning, all modules of the WEMF media database (MedienDB) are available via the WEMF data portal Next>Level. This provides the media and advertising market with a comprehensive database solution that enables end-to-end ad planning, from analysis and costing to booking. The MedienDB contains booking units of advertising-relevant press titles. It includes all important title and price information as well as booking and production data of the listed newspapers and magazines. The media companies enter their data themselves.

Tested by LSA agencies

Even before the official go-live, selected agencies of the Leading Swiss Agencies (LSA) association tested the solution for professionals. LSA Managing Director Catherine Purgly draws a positive balance: "MedienDB provides all relevant planning data in one tool. The offers of the listed press media can thus be found and compared quickly, and ad planning becomes more efficient. With around 570 booking units, the database already represents a considerable part of the Swiss press market. However, not all publications in the trade and specialist press have yet recognized the potential of the MedienDB. Here, therefore, there are still some titles that can neither be found nor planned via the WEMF data portal."

Positive feedback also from the SWA

Roland Ehrler, Director SWA/ASA, is also positive about the new database: "With the launch of MedienDB, WEMF is living up to its mission of ensuring greater transparency in the media and advertising market. MedienDB provides a comprehensive overview of the range of Swiss press media at any time with just a few clicks and thus creates clear added value for advertisers." And he already expresses initial wishes for possible further development: "In the sense of an all-media view, we would welcome it if the MedienDB were to map other media categories in addition to the press media in the future."

Three versions for different needs

Tailored to different user needs, the MedienDB is available in three versions: as "MedienDB PRO" for professional media planners who need the complete data set and all functions from planning to booking, as "MedienDB STANDARD" for interested parties and "occasional planners" who want to use the complete data set and standard functions, and as "MedienDB FREE" for anyone who wants to get an overview of the Swiss press market. The latter contains a reduced data set and is accessible free of charge via the WEMF website.

Sucuk: Swiss influencer Zeki launches his own food brand

Zeki Bulgurcu, winner of the first Swiss Influencer Award in the entertainment category, is launching his own Sucuk brand.

zeki-sucuk

The traditional sausage is particularly widespread in Turkey and the Balkans. Now it's set to appeal to the Swiss population as well. Anyone who lives in Switzerland and uses social media cannot get past Zeki. He is known to a wide audience mainly as a comedian and author of satirical "memes." The comedian and meme master maintains both the widest-reach and second-strongest Instagram channel in Switzerland.

And now Zeki also wants to know it as an amateur chef and gourmet. For some time now, he has devoted himself to a wide variety of culinary directions. But he prefers to combine traditional dishes from his childhood with hearty Swiss cuisine. "The nice thing is, you can prepare sucuk in a thousand ways. Raw, boiled, fried, steamed, combined with vegetables, egg or many other dishes - and it always tastes fantastic," he is quoted as saying in a news release. After a lengthy search, Zeki stumbled upon a Swiss butcher shop that could accurately implement his recipes. "Although the experiments tasted good from the start, I constantly had something to nag about. Too spicy, too mild, too smoky, I always found something that didn't suit me. I drove them to despair - and to excellence."

Continuation of the new brand identity: To each his own Swiss Life. To each his own self-determined life

Ruf Lanz is continuing Swiss Life’s new brand campaign, which was launched in 2018. Thirty new ads continue to celebrate a self-determined life.

Ruf-Lanz-Swiss-Life-02

Swiss Life's corporate purpose is to support people in leading a self-determined life. In order to live up to this claim, Swiss Life responds to each individual with personalized pension and financial advice.

This is the core of the new brand identity, which was launched in 2018 with a large-scale out-of-home campaign. It brings people's lives together with Swiss Life and thus personalizes the brand in an unmistakable way. This is flanked by specific subjects that appeal to Swiss Life's corporate customers and the institutional customers of Swiss Life Asset Managers. This was the first time the Group launched an overarching brand campaign with Ruf Lanz in 2018.

This is now being continued on digital and analog billboards in all language regions of Switzerland. People are no longer addressed by their first names, as in the first wave, but by their self-determined affiliation to a scene or group: from hipsters to jasser, from parking lot seekers to commuters. 30 different motifs were created in this way. Concise, striking and impossible for any competitor to copy.

Double posters such as "Optimists Life"/"Pessimists Life", special placements such as "Um-die-Ecke-Denkers Life" or tongue-in-cheek subjects such as "Plakatignorierers Life" ensure additional attention. In this way, Swiss Life is once again showing the whole of Switzerland that it responds to people individually and unmistakably links the self-determined life with the brand.

Zurich Insurance and FCB Zurich eagerly await the Ice Hockey World Cup

In May 2020, the Ice Hockey World Championship will finally take place in Switzerland again - and Zurich Insurance is involved as an official sponsor. FCB Zurich is responsible for the campaign.

Keyvisual

In the TV spot, the core of the campaign, Zurich unites young and old with various figureheads of the Swiss national team.

The unifying element is a puck that whizzes through Switzerland. Urs Schwegler, Head Sponsoring & Live Marketing at Zurich: "We are very proud to be able to actively support and shape this home World Cup. Our first goal as a sponsor is to make this major international event a highlight for everyone."

In addition to traditional advertising media such as ads and banners, the puck theme is also regularly used in social media. In addition, Zurich will be launching further measures in the coming months on all ice hockey platforms on which the insurer is active as a sponsor. For example, during the Swiss Ice Hockey Cup or the Spengler Cup, where the 2020 World Cup will be felt on site and create lasting memories.

Emotions in large format: FCB Zurich launches image campaign for ProCinema

FCB Zurich created an integrated image campaign for ProCinema, the umbrella organization of Swiss cinema and film distribution companies. This was launched in May 2019 and entered its second round at the beginning of September.

DeinKino-Imagemotiv-DinA5-quer

Certain emotions can only be properly experienced in large format at the cinema. To remind film fans of this unique experience, FCB Zurich has developed the campaign "Mitten im Film. That's only in the cinema". ProCinema launched the new sender at the same time as the campaign: "Dein-kino.ch - Emotionen im Grossformat". The logo design of the new audience brand was also developed and implemented by FCB Zurich.

A central element of the campaign is the image spot "The Kiss," which dramatizes the main message. The film was written by FCB Zurich and shot by WirzFraefelPaal Productions. The Swiss composer team Great Garbo was enlisted for the film music.

The new website is the campaign platform: at Dein-kino.ch, users can find an overview of the current films, the cinema program and the geographical location of all Swiss cinemas. The user is guided step by step from the selection of the film to the purchase of the ticket in the nearest cinema.

The advertising media will be placed nationwide online and offline on all channels. Further content about Kinowelt will also be seen on social media.
