New campaign from Publicis: Sunrise has everything for the new today

The new Sunrise campaign, created by Publicis, explores the ever-changing way we interact with technology.

Sunrise-Verwirrung-0-9-screenshot

Every new technology, every new trend, every new app has the potential to change all of our behavior. Pokémon Go has turned us all into permanent walkers, WhatsApp has replaced the family calendar, and the TV is now little more than a companion medium - but the cell phone is part of the school equipment. Yes, today is not yesterday's today. And tomorrow it will already be a new today.

Because Sunrise knows how people live in the new today, the provider can also offer everything for the new today, is the main message of the new campaign from Publicis. TV commercials, online videos and other measures pick up on these small but subtle changes that the new today brings and hold up a mirror to the people of Switzerland in a sympathetic way.

It is also thanks to Sunrise that these changes in behavior are always very quickly established: With its offers and innovations, such as the largest 5G network in Switzerland, it favors the change to the new today time and again. This is also the case with the offer that is currently taking center stage: every additional subscription purchased for one person in the same household is now up to 50 percent cheaper.

Be a Lady they said

"Be a lady they said," a campaign for Girls. Girls. Girls. magazine, goes viral.

Great cinema: "Sex and the City" actress and politician Cynthia Nixon speaks a text that original 22-year-old Camille Rainville had posted on her blog and where every word sits. A string of contradictory beauty and behavior imperatives that women face in society.

The video hits a nerve and has already been viewed over 8 million times just a few days after its launch.

Jelmoli opens Luxury Traveller Store in Airside Center at Zurich Airport

Jelmoli is opening a new location in the passenger area of Zurich Airport. The Luxury Traveller store is intended to strengthen the brand positioning.

JelmoliAirside_Front_0002

Jelmoli is expanding its retail business for the first time in 20 years. The company has been present at Zurich Airport since March 2, 2020 with an attractive space in Airside Center Level 1, which is accessible to passengers with a valid boarding pass. The Luxury Traveller Store focuses on the needs of travelers and offers selected luggage in addition to luxury items. With a range of luxury brands, Jelmoli aims to underline its premium and luxury positioning.

"We are very excited about this opening and it marks another important milestone in our omnichannel strategy," said Holger Brader, Chief Merchandise Officer and Co-CEO Ad Interim.

The design of the store was realized with Mint Architecture. Gold elements meet light and dark surfaces and give the store a modern concept store look.

Frequencies to strengthen brand positioning

In addition to the high quality of the location with over 30 million passengers per year, the expansion offers great potential for a sustainable strengthening of the business model. On the one hand, the opening of a further site in the Zurich area brings economies of scale and synergy effects. On the other hand, the growing frequencies at Zurich Airport can be used to strengthen Jelmoli's market presence and brand positioning among international and Swiss customers.

With Larissa Stalder and a joint sales strategy, we can now make the opportunities and efficiency gains that result from this for our customers visible at all locations in a targeted manner."

"Retail will take over brand communication".

Scala manager Matthias Hofmann sees stationary retail in the future more as a place of experience for brand presentation than as a pure point of sale. Digital signage will therefore become a success factor.

Mat_Scala_print-t

Retail is in a state of flux. Customers increasingly expect shopping to be an experience and for individual advice to be provided on all aspects of a product. At the same time, brand awareness and the desire for identity-forming goods that underline one's own personality are on the rise. Consumer goods and services are increasingly becoming an expression of the consumer's social attitude. The question of what suits me as a buyer is being asked more and more frequently.

A trend that goes far beyond the mere satisfaction of needs. The answer to this question could increasingly be provided by retailers, who could stage individual brands and products directly at the point of sale. This could also become an attractive business model, especially for stationary retail.

"We will see that in the future, retail will no longer be measured only by the turnover of goods sold, but also by how it supports the marketing and brand communication of products and manufacturers," Matthias Hofmann is certain. Hofmann is DACH manager of digital signage market leader Scala and a proven retail expert.

In the medium term, this could lead to completely different business models. Instead of just putting goods on shelves and hoping that the customer will grab them, holistic worlds of experience could be created that bind shoppers to a particular brand and make it seem fascinating. Retailers could thus not only profit from trade margins and advertising cost subsidies, but also get a slice of the marketing and advertising budgets, much like the web currently does. "Where else but directly at the point of sale could a brand or product be made more tangible?" asks Hofmann. Ideally, strong retail brands ally with strong product brands in communication, thus ensuring maximum image transfers and advances in trust.

To make this possible, further digitization of retail and a new awareness of a modern customer experience are necessary. Technologies such as virtual and augmented reality, individual and customer-related information displays via monitors or the shopper's smartphone, as well as artificial intelligence, nearfield communication and social media applications would have to become more prevalent in retail. "Brand staging in retail means addressing customers with all their senses and individually and satisfying their information interests before they have thought or voiced them themselves. Modern brand communication is proactive," says the Scala manager.

Scala improves the customer experience through intelligent Internet-based digital signage solutions for displays in stationary retail, on mobile devices and websites. The subsidiary of US digital signage provider Stratacache delivers the software platform to create an optimal shopping experience that can be flexibly tailored to individual customer needs and preferences. Scala has 30 years of industry experience in developing and selling innovative, revenue-generating, best-of-breed technologies such as mobile and predictive analytics that are easy to use yet offer many options for individual benefit optimization. Scala has a presence in more than 90 countries and operates more than half a million digital advertising spaces worldwide. The company is headquartered in Philadelphia, USA, with EMEA headquarters in Sittard, Netherlands.

Consumer protection sharply criticizes dynamic prices

Dynamic prices are of little benefit to snow sports enthusiasts. This is the conclusion reached by the Foundation for Consumer Protection (SKS), which has investigated pricing in various ski resorts.

dynamische-preise-sks

"Non-transparent, higher prices and increased data collection make the customer the loser," said the SKS in a statement on Friday. Following an initial investigation in November 2019, the foundation carried out a longer price observation in January and February 2020. The findings were "sobering", according to the fatal verdict of the consumer advocates.

The dynamic prices are intransparent and confusing for consumers, criticizes the SKS. It is not at all clear which factors have a dynamic price effect. In fact, observations have shown that the new price dynamics are being used as a pretext to achieve general price increases inconspicuously. In addition, the new electronic purchasing system collects significantly more customer data.

It has been shown that there is effectively very little dynamism in dynamic price models: "Neither the weather nor the availability of the lifts plays a decisive role in the calculation of prices, only the day of the week and the season have a small influence," according to the criticism. The constantly praised price advantages for families who book their ski stay early cannot be justified. "Early booking discounts have been a well-known customer loyalty tool for decades, particularly in the leisure and travel industry, and are also practised without dynamic price models."

Prices were observed in the following ski resorts: 4 Vallées, Andermatt, Crans-Monana, Gstaad, Laax, Pizol, St. Moritz and Zermatt. For the mountain railroads, the dynamic prices have so far been a model for success: Just last week it was announced that the variable ticket prices have led to a significant increase in the number of ski days sold (Werbewoche.ch reported). The Prix Transparence 2019 honors a "Rundschau" contribution

«Rundschau» journalists Nina Blaser and Anielle Peterhans have been awarded the 2019 Prix Transparence. From among ten articles nominated by Öffentlichkeitsgesetz.ch, a jury of editors-in-chief selected the «Rundschau» article on the cancer drug «Perjeta» as last year’s best transparency story.

Prix_Transparence_19

They fought tenaciously and brought the facts about the price negotiations on a cancer drug to the table. For this, the "Rundschau" journalists Nina Blaser and Anielle Peterhans are awarded the Prix Transparence 2019.

The files obtained by the two TV journalists prove an actual price poker between the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) and the Roche pharmaceutical group. Initially, Roche demanded 3950 Swiss francs per pack of medication, but the FOPH only wanted to approve 1850 Swiss francs. In the end, Roche pushed through the high price - and in return granted Swiss health insurers a discount of over 2,000 francs. A set-up, says an expert in the "Rundschau" report. Roche had wanted to negotiate a showcase price: "The higher the Swiss price, the more likely it is that you can demand a high price abroad."

Öffentlichkeitsgesetz.ch awards the Prix Transparence for the second time. The prize is awarded to media professionals who apply a publicity law in a targeted and effective manner.

Second place was awarded to the contribution of Sunday View-journalist Thomas Schlittler. Based on the law on public access, he has demanded a list of IV experts from the Federal Social Insurance Office (FSIO). Some commissioned doctors collected millions over the years. The journalist Lucien Fluri was awarded 3rd place. He used the Solothurn Information Act to obtain documents proving serious wage dumping among interns in day-care centers.

Dreifive Finance Brunch: The digital future of the finance industry

At Dreifive's Finance Brunch, participants discussed the challenges and the future of performance marketing for the financial sector.

In front of around 40 guests from the finance sector, insiders and experts from the industry spoke about topics such as agility, cross channel tracking and lead generation.

In the various presentations, it quickly became clear that fintech companies have to consider aspects from a wide range of areas in the course of the necessary digitization, from legal to tracking to the question of who can best be addressed with one's own products and when.

Right at the beginning, Marcel Oppliger, Managing Director of the hosting agency, gave the following advice: "It is not enough to simply digitize in order to save costs. You have to build the digital experience around the customer and their needs and offer them added value." Particularly in the banking and finance sector, where trust in an institution plays a major role, apps, for example, should not replace personal contact but complement it in a meaningful way.

Maria Leindl and Konstantin Speck from Google then gave an overview of current trends and presented exciting studies on online marketing in the financial sector. "Swiss people are more likely to inform themselves about financial products and services in Google search and to a lesser extent about brands," said Maria Leindl.

Afterwards, the specialists from Dreifive showed how to gain the trust of customers in the long term and retain their loyalty to their own financial institution. Thus, first-hand information on trends and developments in the digital world was presented. The audience learned which marketing tricks are necessary to gain competitive advantages in the market. Carina Hummel, Teamlead Digital Campaigns, pointed out the great importance of tracking: "A comprehensive tracking concept is important, because without it, the various touchpoints or channels in a user's customer journey cannot be properly evaluated."

Financial companies that are active in online marketing have to deal with various legal stumbling blocks. Konrad Meier from Ernst & Young (pictured below) gave an overview of this topic. He is Senior Manager Legal, Regulatory & Compliance at the consultancy and spoke about compliance in digital campaigns.

Konrad_Meier_ErnstYoung

Thomas Petrozci, Head of Social Media at Dreifive, concluded by showing how financial companies can use social media channels for lead generation. Based on a study by Facebook in collaboration with Accenture, he presented the requirements that millenials place on the customer relationship with a bank. Here, too, it became clear that digitization is essential for the financial sector.

Ursula Gamper leaves KS/CS Communication Switzerland

Ursula Gamper, who has headed the office of KS/CS Kommunikation Schweiz for the past ten years, will be leaving the umbrella organization for commercial communication at the end of February.

Ursula Gamper

This step was triggered by the new role of Secretary General, which KS/CS filled with Sarah-Lee Keller at the end of 2019, according to a press release on Friday. The areas of responsibility of the Managing Director and General Secretary overlapped too much, as has become apparent in recent weeks. This has "massively restricted" Ursula Gamper's scope for development.

She will leave a big gap in the association, the statement continues - they thank her for the tireless work she has done for the advertising industry in recent years. As Managing Director, she always had the backing of Filippo Lombardi's Executive Committee and, not least, ensured that the political business of KS/CS Communication Switzerland ran smoothly. Gamper has thus played an important role in ensuring that the Swiss advertising industry can continue to benefit from liberal guidelines.
