Havas Switzerland wins new customers and defends budgets

2020 got off to a promising start for Havas Switzerland. Brands such as Die Post, Hyundai, Dr. Oetker, Freixenet, Bel Suisse, UEFA, and the magazine Générations remain part of—or have joined—the client portfolio of the Havas Villages in Geneva and Zurich.

After completing a public tender, Havas defended the Post's media mandate by winning the strategy, traditional media and one of five digital lots.

After a multi-stage selection process, Havas will also continue to be responsible for strategy, conception and buying of media campaigns for Hyundai.

Also new to the media portfolio is the Oetker Group, including the Dr. Oetker, Freixenet, Mionetto and Vodka Gorbatschow brands.

For Bel Suisse, which owns the Cantadou, Kiri, Leerdammer and La-vache-qui-rit brands, Havas is developing a new brand strategy for Cantadou and will be responsible for the creative business and campaigns of the individual brands.

Havas Village in Geneva is working for the European Football Association UEFA and is developing a CRM program that already includes this year's UEFA European Football Championship. In addition, the appearance as well as the branding of the French-speaking Swiss magazine Générations will be completely revised and refreshed for both the online and offline editions.

According to the announcement, Havas Switzerland can also look forward to further significant budget gains, which, however, may not be communicated at this time.

Twitter flags video shared by Trump as 'manipulated'

For the first time since the introduction of new rules on misleading content, the microblogging service Twitter has labeled a post shared by U.S. President Donald Trump as «manipulated.».

twitter-trump

Trump had disseminated a misleading video clip from a campaign event of Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden via his Twitter channel. On Monday, Twitter added the label "manipulated media" to the video.

The video was an excerpt from one of Biden's election campaign speeches in the US state of Missouri. Referring to the intra-party rivalries within the US Democrats, Biden had said: "We can only re-elect Donald Trump if we really indulge in this self-destruction here".

Dan Scavino, the White House department head responsible for online communications, later published a video clip on Twitter in which Biden simply appeared to say: "We can only re-elect Donald Trump." Trump shared Scavino's post. By Monday, almost six million people had seen the video.

Scavino responded with a denial to the Twitter labeling. The video was not manipulated, he wrote.

Since last week, Twitter has been taking stronger action against so-called deepfakes and other manipulated content. The new guidelines provide for the removal or flagging of problematic videos during the US presidential election campaign. According to the company, the decision as to whether a post is merely flagged or deleted depends on the likelihood and severity of the potential damage caused by its dissemination. (SDA)

Serviceplan shows the next big thing for sanitarians

Smile, please: Serviceplan Suisse has created an entertaining campaign for R. Nussbaum’s innovative drinking water installation box.

HEADER_Nussbaum_UP-Box_Werbewoche

The long-established family company R. Nussbaum from Olten is known for its innovations in the sanitary and heating sector. Now the next big thing is coming onto the market: the compact drinking water installation box, also known as the UP box. It enables reliable planning, is quick and easy to install - and can be operated very energy-efficiently and hygienically. Or in short: It makes life in the sanitary industry a whole lot easier.

With these aspects in mind, Serviceplan Suisse conceived and realized a humorous B2B campaign. It is based on the idea that the UP-Box defines a new standard for sanitarians and that it looks funny at the same time - as if it had eyes, a nose and four legs. Reason enough for enthusiastic sanitarians to take a selfie right on the spot and at the construction site. Photographed adequately by Jonathan Heyer.

The campaign, which will be on air from March 2020, is aimed directly at the sanitary industry and includes various print and online advertising media: from a mailing in which the UP box can be viewed via augmented reality to a video ad on Facebook. A competition is also being played at the POS: Anyone who takes a selfie with the new UP-Box on the construction site or in a Nussbaum store and posts it can win one of 5 smartphones - or various other prizes that sanitary professionals will enjoy just as much as the new UP-Box.

In the interest of all guests, partners and members, the event will therefore be postponed to Friday, September 11, 2020 at the Samsung Hall in Dübendorf.

With the postponement, Sponsoring Switzerland is following the recommendations of the federal government and the canton of Zurich regarding the organization of events. It goes without saying that the health of all those involved is also a top priority for the industry association, according to a press release.

The General Assembly of Sponsoring Switzerland planned in the run-up to the Night of Sponsoring has also been postponed. It will now take place at the next members' event on May 12, 2020.

Ringier orders home office for Blick journalists

Many journalists on the Blick editorial staff have been working from home since Monday until further notice. With this precautionary measure, the media group aims to protect employees from potential infection at work and while commuting. No such directives have yet been issued for Tamedia or CH Media.

blick-logo

Ringier media spokeswoman Alina Bolz confirmed a corresponding report from the online platform persoenlich.com when asked by the Keystone-SDA news agency.

The home office measure affects around half of the workforce, which is not dependent on the infrastructure in the newsroom and does not necessarily have to be on site. However, this proportion could vary depending on daily planning. However, there is no confirmed coronavirus infection in the newsroom.

At the TX Group, to which the Tamedia media belong, the recommendations of the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health (SFOPH) are strictly followed, said Andres Nitsch, responsible for communications, in response to an inquiry. The individual departments would decide whether and to what extent they would go beyond these recommendations and, for example, recommend or even prescribe home office.

TX Group cancels events and tours

In addition, the Group is no longer holding any major events. All internal and external events in connection with the annual results were canceled on March 10. They will be replaced by telephone conferences. For the time being, all guided tours and visits have also been canceled.

"Any measures at CH Media are implemented "pragmatically" on an individual basis, with a sense of proportion and in consultation with the respective superiors, as communications manager Stefan Heini explained when asked. In principle, the guidelines of the FOPH are also adhered to. The situation is constantly being monitored and reassessed. The situation is taken very seriously. The protection of employees is the top priority. (SDA)

If animals had hands: Rod launches campaign for Knows.com

Who hasn't wondered at some point what it would be like if animals could use a smartphone as a matter of course? For Rod Kommunikation, the answer is obvious: they would log in to Knows.com, the new community marketplace, and order a service.

knwos-com

Knows.com is a one-stop platform for all services. Ordering a painter, a personal trainer or an accountant from the new community marketplace is child's play. All you need is an active Internet connection and, at best, a hand to operate your smartphone or computer. But what if you are a shark, a spider or a snake? This thought experiment is the subject of the three spots realized by Rod Kommunikation and director Zoran Bihać for KnowS, a new online provider for all people who offer or want to use a service.

The spots are now available online and will be shown in cinemas at a later date.

MCH does not see stability of the company at risk

The trade show organizer MCH does not believe the company's stability is at risk despite the cancellation or postponement of several trade shows due to the coronavirus crisis. The company has now decided on measures to reduce personnel costs, as the MCH Group announced on Friday evening.

1_mch-group-messe-basel-halle-1-04

"Despite the negative effects, the stability of the company is guaranteed, we have strong liquidity," MCH CEO Bernd Stadlwieser is quoted as saying in the statement. The current situation also has no influence on the implementation of the newly defined strategic orientation, which will "continue to be driven forward intensively".

Costs for Baselworld postponement within the scope

For Baselworld, which has been postponed until 2021, the costs incurred by the MCH Group and customers are "within reasonable bounds", as the construction work has not yet begun. Solutions are now being worked out together with exhibitors and suppliers, the exhibition organizer writes. At the same time, Baselworld is also working at full speed on the launch of new digital initiatives.

By cancelling Art Basel in Hong Kong at an early stage, the MCH Group has saved costs for itself and its customers, according to the statement. MCH has also registered its claims with the insurance company. The group is leaving open the staging of Art Basel in Basel from June 18 to 21, 2020, which is not affected by the current Federal Council decree. Should the situation require it, an alternative date later in the year will be examined, it says.

Alternative dates are currently being examined for Habitat-Jardin in Lausanne as well as for Smart Suisse, which was planned for March 18-19 in Basel. Hard hit, he said, was Giardina in Zurich, which was already under construction for the event from March 11 to 15, 2020. Here, solutions for costs already incurred would be worked out together with exhibitors.

Overtime reduction and short-time work

The postponement of events and exhibitions is also being felt by the MCH "Live Marketing Solutions" Division, which also includes stand construction. The MCH Group hopes that there will be compensation in the summer and autumn for orders that have now been lost.

In order to reduce personnel costs, MCH has decided, among other things, to reduce overtime and high vacation balances and to temporarily halt the recruitment of new employees. The application for short-time working in particularly hard-hit areas is in progress, the statement continues.

dex20

The DEX counts more than 1,000 guests. "In the last months, the whole DEX team has prepared DEX20 with great commitment. The concept of the Digital Experience Conference with Main Stage, Masterclasses, Workshops and the Experience Lounges will remain unchanged. The after-party will also take place as planned. Tickets already purchased will remain valid for the new date, which will be communicated shortly.
