Publisuisse self-advertising campaign: "Pictures say more than a thousand words"

Publisuisse’s new self-promotion campaign kicks off on December 4, 2009. Under the slogan «Pictures say more than 1,000 words,» three animated films and advertisements based on well-known TV commercials will be launched.

Three TV commercials were abstracted in such a way that the brand or product cannot be seen. Nevertheless, the individual spots can be easily assigned to the respective senders when viewed. This shows that TV advertising has an effect and is anchored in the minds of viewers. The individual subjects and corresponding studies to prove this can be found on Publisuisse.ch/tvwirkt.
The campaign will be launched on online portals of the communications industry and in selected titles of the business and communications trade press.

The Coffee Republic

Republica demonstrates its coffee expertise for Schaerer, Delica, and Dinzler.

A mood could hardly be more "woke" than at the Bernese agency Republica. In fact, no less than three clients from the coffee sector are being looked after in the creative kitchen of Bala Trachsel, Chris Morgan and Re Wilk. For Delizio the popular coffee machines B2C are sold. For Schaerer's professional fully automatic coffee machines, Republica looks after the worldwide account in the B2B sector. For Munich-based roaster Dinzler, the Bernese designed all the packaging and branding.
Republica developed the packaging design for the Cremesso brand for Delica, under which the machines are sold abroad, for example in Austria and South Korea. For Switzerland, Republica has currently launched an exclusive "Wooden Line" from Delizio. These machines are limited to 3×333 units in three wood finishes: cherry, walnut and olive-ash. This design offer is of course also intended to promote the image for the conventional Delizio machines sold at M-Electronics, Fust or Office World. For the "Wooden Line", Republica has developed the idea of placing the exclusive coffee machines in 50 elegant hairdressing stores as part of its 360-degree communication, in addition to advertisements, direct marketing and online. Here, the new machine is to be presented to the target group in a particularly relaxed atmosphere. For this purpose, the agency has equipped the salons with a promo package, posters, flyers and mirror stickers. The campaign is accompanied by PR reports in the SonntagsZeitung and various Ringier titles.
World leading fully automatic machines
Republica has been managing the overall mandate for Schaerer for four years now. After creating a new vision, the number 1 in the global market for fully automatic coffee machines was accompanied from a manufacturer brand to an emotional brand for coffee expertise. The process was completed at the beginning of October with the unveiling of the new logo at the new headquarters in Zuchwil. The company, which employs around 150 people in Switzerland and a further 170 abroad, has moved from Moosseedorf to the canton of Solothurn because the former Sulzer site provides more production space for optimized processes and future development. Schaerer supplies not only the national top gastronomy but also worldwide companies such as Starbucks and McDonald's.
As part of the new corporate identity, Republica developed the claim "Coffee comes to life". An image film does not show coffee machines, but communicates about people. A new visual world has been incorporated into trade shows, the website or brochures in 20 different editions. An important tool is the "Coffee Competence Center" at headquarters, where training courses are offered for customers to obtain a competence label. A highlight of these barista activities will be the Swiss Coffee Brewing Championship in Bern's Westside at the end of January, Bala Trachsel is pleased to announce. The CEO of Republica once worked at Schaerer herself for seven years.
Andreas Panzeri
The brand design for the Dinzler coffee roastery is a small, but fine special assignment by Republica. A former top salesman for Schaerer has bought an old mill in Munich. He roasts his own coffee there, supplies some of the best addresses in Munich with it and now runs two coffee houses of his own in Rosenheim. Currently, a new freeway service station is also being built under the Dinzler label on the busy Munich-Austria route. Republica has developed the branding for all areas and is constantly designing packaging, labels, brochures, gift vouchers.

To the point: difficult birth

Ten years ago, on December 13, 1999 to be precise, the Norwegian publishing house Schibsted launched the commuter newspaper 20 Minuten with a bang. Just two days before, the launch date was announced.

The project manager was Sacha Wigdorovits. At the same time, Ueli Haldimann was working on the first edition of Metropol (which later had to be renamed Metro). For the Swedish media group, it was the launch of the first non-Swedish edition of Metro. 20 Minuten, however, was ahead, and Metropol did not launch until the end of January 2000. The two free newspapers were not taken seriously by the established publishers. They were laughed at and ridiculed. They sat on their high horses and could not imagine that a free newspaper could serve the needs of readers for information. And this in a country where free newspapers had a long and successful tradition.
Many advertisers and advertising and media agencies were also skeptical. They wanted to wait and see. See the first figures. Just don't take any risks. So the beginning was not easy. For the swashbuckler Rolf Bollmann, as the first managing director, the skepticism and scorn he received from many quarters was all the more incentive. He was convinced of his product and fought with heart and soul, because he wanted to win.
Barbara Domeyer wrote in the 2001 issue of Media Trend Journal: "New, interesting and to be taken seriously, alongside the globally widespread Internet, is a new generation of newspapers: the commuter newspapers. At this point, I would like to put forward the hypothesis that these newspapers will mutate into a new print category that will trigger and intensify the desire for news, especially in the young segments that are not yet so attached to daily newspapers. Qualitative data on the motivation for using these commuter newspapers among 14- to 24-year-olds supports the validity of this hypothesis: When asked why they read these titles (such as 20 Minuten, Metropol and ZürichExpress) practically on a regular basis, 43 percent already say that they have gotten into the habit of doing so, that it is somehow cool, that it is part of the day."
Right she got! 20 Minuten has become a success story. Taken over by Tamedia, the ridiculed commuter paper has become Switzerland's biggest newspaper. Many of the critics and doubters at the time are nice and quiet today, and only a few, such as the former editor-in-chief of the Tages-Anzeiger, Peter Hartmeier, openly admit that they had badly miscalculated.

Heusser Communicates for Nestlé

The Zurich-based design and communications agency Heusser Communicates has developed a portfolio for Nestlé Professional that outlines how «Nutrition, Health, and Wellness (NHW)» should be communicated and implemented worldwide. The strategy, communication, and training models of the «NutriPro» label are presented, along with templates for communication materials such as magazines and consumer information.

The manuals are sent out in a black folder. The visual concept and reader guidance are similar to the presentation of a complete menu in a restaurant.

The new store just around the corner

ViznerBorel and Manifesto are launching 160 new Migrolino stores with comedian Kaya Yanar.

Aunt Emma is getting a new addition to the family. A subsidiary of the Federation of Migros Cooperatives wants to find a new proximity to customers under the name Migrolino with over 160 petrol station stores and railroad station stores by the end of 2010. Migrolino is "the small and cheeky convenience store", as Markus Laenzlinger, CEO of the still young company, explains. The concept was developed in collaboration with Migrol and Shell. In addition to popular Migros products and selected brands, fast-food customers can also find many fresh and convenience offers. One of the first Migrolinos in the converted Kölliken Nord highway service station stocks over 2,000 items. All the new stores are also open late at night and at weekends. With Shell as number 1 in the fuel sector and Migros as number 1 in the retail trade, Migrolino is "clearly and successfully aiming to become number 1 in the rapidly growing convenience market", says Head of Marketing Andrea Schindler about the new chain's remarkably rapid expansion course.
ViznerBorel will provide Migrolino with communications support. The agency, already successful with Denner in the retail sector, won the new client at the beginning of September in a pitch against three well-known national and international competitors. In order to establish Migrolino in the Swiss market as "fresh and friendly", ViznerBorel created the character "Milo". This likeable Migrolino salesman is embodied by Kaya Yanar. The comedian with German-Turkish roots and a few years of Swiss experience is known from the TV show "Was guckst du?". In addition to countless awards such as the German Television Prize in the comedy category, the Austrian Television Prize for "Best Program Idea", the German Grimme Award comedy prize and an Emmi nomination, Yanar has also won Geo magazine's "Grüne Palme" for special services to international understanding.
Milo is used in the campaign in a series of witty and even cheeky commercials. These characterize him as an integrative figure who "unites people". Milo is the character who revives the "store around the corner" for Migrolino, as director Reto Salimbeni from Manifesto explains the concept.

The Hesskiss agency won over Züspa in the pitch. Following a presentation by a competitor, the largest public trade fair in the canton of Zurich decided to partner with HESSKISS.

Nine years in prison for journalist critical of the government in Iran

In Iran, an editor-in-chief critical of the government has been sentenced to nine years in prison. This follows protests against the re-election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Journalist Said Lailas is accused of fomenting the unrest in June, his lawyer told the semi-official Fars news agency on Wednesday. Lailas, who worked for the daily Sarmajeh, which was banned last month, is also accused of taking part in illegal gatherings and being in possession of secret information. According to SDA, the lawyer announced that he would appeal against the verdict.
Following the re-election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the opposition accused the government of massive electoral fraud. However, the leadership in Tehran rejected this and cracked down on the demonstrators, who took to the streets in their thousands. In Iran, five people have so far been sentenced to death and more than 80 to prison terms of up to 15 years in connection with the protests.

Cosmic Bern: Christmas is very close at Shoppyland

Since this fall, Cosmic Bern has been handling communications for the Shoppyland shopping center. Now, the Bern-based agency has created new holiday-themed designs for the center. The first designs bring a good dose of Christmas spirit, just in time for the holiday season.

The figurative mark of the shopping center takes center stage in the winter motifs. The duck from the logo is presented as a decorated Christmas cookie on the various communication media. During Advent, it is then distributed in real life and in the form of "Shoppyländerli", specially created Milanese cookies, as giveaways in the center.
