Agency at the airport: AWZ goes into the sawdust with customers

Following last year’s Tell plays, the Swiss direct marketing agency is inviting its customers to “Sägemehl” this year. The agency designed the invitations as a mailing distributed at the airport.

So that the dear AWZ customers could be distinguished from the bad guys on the swinging ground in Oberdiessbach, a personalized "non-swinging trousers" was sent out as an invitation. Strapped on, these also served as a comfortable seat on the wooden benches. A record number of participating AWZ customers were the result of the rustic invitation mailing.

Last but not least: Ripe for the Bacardi Island?

For the third time, young Swiss creatives can apply for «The Island Job.» This somewhat unconventional «Music Star» casting call is a talent development program organized by Bacardi.

The project promotes up-and-coming talent in music, photography, journalism, styling, video and production. Participants compete for votes from the online community by submitting a letter of application and a music, video or photo entry. Those who make it into the top three in their category in the online voting (the top six in the "video maker" category) will be able to demonstrate their talent to a jury at a three-day workshop in October. The jury is made up of people from all specialist areas: These include Roman Camenzind (producer of Bligg, Baschi, Adrian Stern), Birgit Kraner (styling for Friday, Vogue Germany), Benoit Rossel (professor at ECAL Lausanne, videos for U2) and Adrian Bretscher (photo shoots for Stress, Baschi, Bligg).

The participants who convince the jury will fly to the Caribbean island of Cayo Levantado for eight days in January 2012. The winning team will produce a song with everything on "Bacardi Island". The registration period runs until August 26.

Maxomedia: Getting young people to save with Valiant

What to do with your first paycheck? Maxomedia has developed a campaign for Valiant that lets young people answer this question for themselves.

The campaign focuses on the dreams of the younger generation and shows how smaller and larger wishes can be realized with the help of Valiant.

A competition on Facebook and the Valiant platforms for young people and students draws attention to the bank's offer and motivates people to save. Young people were able to suggest a personal savings goal. The six best savings goals will be supported with a total of CHF 11,000. Voting is currently underway: users decide which suggestion will receive the most money. The competition is being advertised with social ads and offline with posters, streetcar posters, flyers and on-screen advertising on public transport.

The campaign's goal of having over 3,500 likes on Facebook by the end of August was already achieved in July. Almost 250 young people addressed the topic of saving and took part in the competition with a personal suggestion.

Maxomedia has been implementing innovative campaigns in the youth segment for Valiant since 2007 and is responsible for the conception and realization of all measures.

Promio.net: Study on the influence of new media

Promio.net has conducted a consumer survey to investigate the influence of new media on information and purchasing decision processes. The survey of marketing managers is intended to provide information about the use of media in companies.

The specialist for e-mail marketing and online market research has developed two sub-studies in order to get a complete view of the subject under investigation. On the one hand, a consumer survey, which examines how consumers deal with the new media. And secondly, a survey of marketing executives on the use of these media and its opportunities and risks for companies. 1,000 consumers and 100 marketing decision-makers took part in the study and revealed what contribution new media make to business and society.

It has been shown that social networks and recommendation functions have a far greater influence on purchasing decisions and thus offer more opportunities for companies to increase sales than previously assumed, Promio.net said of the study. In addition, the importance of rating and comparison portals as well as online marketplaces is clearly underestimated by companies.

The lack of success monitoring prevented companies from exploiting the potential of new media for increasing corporate success and from thinking outside the box. Up to now, these media have only been seen as a further operative communication instrument instead of integrating them intelligently into the overall strategic process.

The study also provides information on consumer attitudes toward data privacy on the Internet, the reasons for and ways of using social networks and mobile media, factors influencing online purchases, and future forecasts by consumers and companies. In addition, decision-makers provide information on the importance of market transparency and integrated communication, as well as on budget allocation for new media.
