HDK realizes repositioning of the Cash brand

Through a joint venture between Ringier and Bank Zweiplus, Cash.ch offers business and financial information as well as banking services on a single online platform. The account was awarded to the agency Haus der Kommunikation (HDK).

The agency is responsible for the repositioning, the corporate design and an image and product campaign for the new online financial center. At the center of the repositioning is the idea of "cross-picking" developed by Cash and HDK. Cross-pickers are mobile individualists. They choose exactly what they really need from the two worlds of "information" and "banking". As responsible users, they put together their own mix of financial services - online, regardless of bank opening hours or locations.

The financial center for individualists is therefore the central message of the print and online image-building campaign launched on April 23.

Responsible at Cash: André Michel (COO and member of the Executive Board), Silvan Franchetto (Head of Marketing). Responsible at HDK: Thomas Hauser (strategy), Romana Hauser-Bonelli (text/concept), Raphael Baumann (creative direction), Verena Grupp and Maria-Sol Burgener (art direction), Susi Bieglin-Besserer and Jessica Zeder (graphics), Rachel Wicki (consulting).

Last but not least: Multimedia work "apps

The freelance copywriter Christoph Hess has designed a multimedia workbook. Specifically, it is an interactive multi-touch book for the iPad.

This was made possible by the "iBooks Author" software, which was originally designed for interactive learning books. According to Christoph Hess, the integration of films, audio files, galleries and links on the Internet is designed to make learning material more enjoyable and is also ideal for presenting multimedia content. Posters can easily be shown on a page next to the appropriate commercials. And ads can be read by zooming the copy.

A creative use of the software for your own workbook or just another app in the data jungle? Decide for yourself, the book has been available since Saturday via iBooks App and iTunes Store for free download.

Trending signs: TV and social media make a potent mix

In the U.S., social media is successfully making inroads on TV channels, as a study by Accenture shows. One-third of those surveyed said they had interacted with social media at least once after seeing a related icon appear on TV.

Almost two-thirds (64 percent) of the thousand respondents could recall having seen such a symbol while watching TV. The most familiar is the "like" symbol from Facebook (42 percent), followed by QR codes (28 percent) and Twitter hashtags (18 percent). Those who have connected with social media when watching TV primarily wanted to use it to pick up more information about the show, product or service being shown (43 percent). Other reasons given were: Retrieving coupons (32 percent), entering contests (31 percent), watching another video or interacting with the show or product via social media (26 percent each), connecting with others who have similar interests (21 percent), sharing recommendations about TV programming (20 percent) and 16 percent wanted to make purchases this way. The age distribution is hardly surprising: 18- to 24-year-olds were the most active, at 63 percent, and among those over 65, 11 percent still said they had used social media before watching TV.

Note: TV broadcasters can use it to retain viewers and tap into new online advertising opportunities. For advertisers, TV's distribution accelerator makes it even easier to communicate directly with interested consumers, bypassing traditional advertising channels.

Last but not least: ear torture at its finest

You're probably familiar with the sound made when you run your fingernails across a chalkboard. It's awful! Ogilvy Mumbai created a commercial for Mentos that consists almost entirely of that sound.

The sound sends shivers down your spine and makes all your body hair stand on end, and you just want it to stop. And immediately. Dedicating an entire commercial to this ear torture, as Ogilvy Mumbai did for Mentos, is a little, shall we say, daring. But it makes sense - at least a little, perhaps. The agency's succinct explanation on the YouTube channel for the commercial reads: "Mentos Sour Marbels are sour, really sour". So much for a clue. It's best to form your own opinion as to whether the commercial encourages you to chew on Mentos or has the opposite effect.

SRG: Negotiations on new CLA on the brink

For the first time in over 30 years, some 5,000 television and radio workers could find themselves without contracts starting next year—negotiations on a new collective bargaining agreement are in danger of breaking down.

The current CLA expires at the end of the year, according to the Sonntagszeitung in its latest edition. Despite intensive negotiations, the delegates of SRG and the media union SSM have not yet been able to agree on a new contract. The SRG wants to make working hours more flexible and reduce compensation. But the SSM is standing in the way.

The fourth and final round of negotiations is now due to take place next week, as the Sonntagszeitung continues. The first three ended without results. According to the SSM, the SRG has already made it clear that neither renegotiations nor an interim solution are an option for them. This is an alarm signal for the media union. It fears for the long-standing social partnership.

Online dispute: Doris Leuthard invites to round table

Media Minister Doris Leuthard has called on the parties involved in the dispute over online advertising to attend a roundtable discussion on April 30.

This was confirmed by the Uvek to the Sonntagszeitung. Although Leuthard is holding back on the agenda, the invitation from the Federal Councillor can be seen as a sign of rapprochement between publishers and broadcasting companies, writes the Sonntagspublikation.

SRG board members must now pay Billag fees themselves

SRG board members will now pay their own Billag fees. They made this decision at a meeting earlier this year.

The decision was made on the initiative of the new Chairman Raymond Loretan, spokesman Daniel Steiner confirmed to the Sonntagszeitung. The members of the Board of Directors have a role model function. According to Steiner, they want to show that SRG is economical with its fees. They could also represent the Billag fees more credibly. Until now, SRG has paid the radio and TV fees for all board members.

SRG.D: Jakob Stark new on regional board

On Thursday, the Regional Council elected Jakob Stark, a member of the Thurgau Cantonal Government, to the SRG.D Executive Board. The Regional Council also elected two new members to the Public Council and approved the 2011 annual report.

Jakob Stark joins Solothurn Cantonal Councilor Esther Gassler-Leuenberger as a new member of a cantonal government on the eleven-member SRG.D regional board, according to a statement on Friday. Stark, 53, has been head of the Department of Construction and Environment in the government of the Canton of Thurgau since 2006. Prior to his time as mayor of a municipality and member of the government, Stark, who holds a doctorate in history, worked as a journalist for various newspapers.

The Audience Council was also able to close the two vacancies in its ranks. The regional council followed its motions and elected 32-year-old Jasmina Causevic from the canton of Bern and 56-year-old Peter Spring from the canton of Aargau as new members of the council. Causevic is communications manager at the Forum for the Integration of Migrants (FIMM Switzerland) in Bern. As a Swiss and Croatian national, she will represent the foreign resident population on the Council. Spring is CCO (Chief Commercial Officer) at Edelweiss Air/Swiss.

The Regional Council also approved the 2011 annual report and financial statements. In the 2011 financial year, the committee's work focused on programming issues relating to Swiss radio and television (SRF). The "Blickwechsel" action program to implement the sponsorship's commitment to civil society went into implementation.
