Mediaschneider: The democratization of the brand

National Museum launches "TV studio"

«… live from the Zurich National Museum» is the tagline for the new interactive program «Television and Studio» at the Zurich National Museum, starting this Saturday. For the time being—for one year—visitors can create and film their own segments.

A real television studio has been installed in the museum, as the National Museum announced on Friday. The SRG production company TPC was involved in the project. The would-be TV stars can switch on one of three backdrops at the presenter's desk: "Tagesschau", "Meteo" or "Sportpanorama" are available to choose from. Then they can get started with their self-written text or a made-up situation. Filming is done with a real studio camera. The images appear live on a monitor.

The "interactive lab" is aimed at all interested parties, especially school classes. It offers the opportunity to practise professions behind and in front of the camera and to produce a TV show with their own texts and interview situations. This allows pupils to practise performance and media skills, according to the press release. According to curator Pacale Meyer, a good dozen school classes have already registered.

Recordings not yet possible

It is no coincidence that "Television and Studio" has been set up in the National Museum, which is part of the National Museum: the history of Swiss Radio and Television (SRF) is part of media history and therefore "an important chapter in Swiss history", according to the National Museum.

The idea for the offer came from National Museum Director Andreas Spillmann, said Meyer when asked by the SDA news agency. For the time being, the TV studio is available for one year "with an option to extend".

Only the people involved will be able to see the recordings, and then only on site, said Meyer. Recordings are not yet possible - but this could be introduced at a later date if necessary. For example, school classes could take their production back to school and incorporate it into further media work there. (SDA)
