Farner Consulting creates international Formula E campaign for Julius Baer

For the new Julius Bär campaign, Jérôme D’Ambrosio—a top driver and the current leader in the Formula E standings—was transported into the future. An elaborate makeup effect made him appear 40 years older. In the campaign film, he looks back on the groundbreaking early days of Formula E (i.e., the present) during an interview and recalls the pioneering spirit and innovative power of the first all-electric racing series.

Julius Baer has supported Formula E as a global founding partner since the very first race in 2014. The film featuring Jérôme D'Ambrosio transported into the future is the centerpiece of the international sponsorship campaign created by Farner for the bank. It is currently running in China with a focus on the Hong Kong E-Prix, then around the races in Monaco and Berlin, and this summer in Switzerland, in the course of the Julius Baer Swiss E-Prix in Bern.

The campaign is based on the fundamental idea "How we invest today is how we live tomorrow" and illustrates the overarching importance of Formula E as a test lab for future technologies and a stage for sustainable mobility. Julius Baer wants to illustrate how visionary thinking and sustainable investments can positively shape our future lives and the pioneering work that Formula E, which it sponsors, is doing in this regard.

In addition to the campaign film, Farner developed an extensive creative and editorial content inventory for Julius Baer, which was distributed internationally on a wide range of online and offline channels and posted on the digital hub on the bank's website "Window2TheFuture" is brought together. The content development has been done in close cooperation with Julius Baer's editorial team.

Novel champagne bottles show correct drinking temperature

A small winery in northern France will soon begin selling a bottle of champagne that changes color when chilled.

ie-bottle

The foil-covered bottle of Infinite Eight champagne from Ville-Dommange near Reims is initially completely white. Once it has reached the right drinking temperature, a pattern of pink notes and butterflies appears. The champagne will be launched in Japan in March and then in France in April.

"This is a first," said the head of the family business, Nicolas le Tixerand. No other winegrower in Champagne offers such a bottle. With this marketing idea, customers could "playfully" learn when a bottle of champagne is at the right drinking temperature. According to the official French Champagne website, the drink tastes best at eight to ten degrees Celsius.

However, temperature-dependent packaging design for alcoholic beverages is not new. For example, a snowflake on the Calanda-Glatsch can created by Publicis is only visible when the beer is cool enough (Werbewoche.ch reported). And in 2016, Leo Burnett developed a bottle for the Austrian distillery Turmhof that only reveals the contents at the correct drinking temperature - the packaging design won gold at the Epica Awards. With one subject of the new Digitec campaign, each poster is unique

Printer cartridges that make a mess? In the current Digitec campaign, the critical customer opinion was put into practice and every single poster was smeared.

Unique items are the trend: not only the current issue of Werbewoche impresses with its uniquenessalso the latest Digitec campaign is breaking new ground. The subject with the text "After trying to insert the new cartridges into my printer, I spent a not inconsiderable part of the evening cleaning my pants, T-shirt and carpet from the paint splashed at me when I removed the plastic strip from the cartridges." there is a smear of paint on all the posters. Each poster and each hanging cardboard is unique. The media-appropriate implementation thus reinforces the content.

ProSieben to show Michael Jackson documentary as early as April 6

«Leaving Neverland» is the documentary that has everyone talking right now. ProSieben has secured the rights for German-speaking countries and will air the two-part film soon.

leaving-neverland

Journalists, companions, opponents and fans of Michael Jackson discuss the documentary in which the two men James Safechuck (40) and Wade Robson (36) tell how Michael Jackson abused them as children. "He was one of the kindest, gentlest, most loving people I knew," says Wade Robson in "Leaving Neverland" about his former idol Michael Jackson. "And he sexually abused me for over seven years." ProSieben will show "Leaving Neverland" on Saturday, April 6, 2019, in prime time.

ProSieben editor-in-chief Stefan Vaupel: "The world is talking about "Leaving Neverland". The documentary and the reactions to it show how broad public interest in Michael Jackson and the charges against him is. Child abuse is one of the biggest social taboos of our time. In recent years, the church, artists and others have repeatedly bought the silence of their victims. That's why we're showing "Leaving Neverland" on ProSieben."

First catalog with new look: Livique revives new brand with more lifestyle and personalization

Last fall, after more than a year of preparation, the rebranding became a reality, and Toptip became Livique. A major launch campaign followed hot on its heels. Now, Livique’s regular agency, Ammarkt, has also designed the first major catalog featuring the new look.

01_Titelseite-livique

The name of Livique, composed of the words "Living" and "unique" does not come by chance. The individual lifestyle is absolutely at the center of all efforts at Livique. From the design of the product range to communication, the thought of the wishes of Livique customers is at the center.

From inspiration to solution

No one knows Livique customers better than the home advisors in the stores. The insights gained from thousands of conversations with customers have flowed into the content and form of the new catalog. For the first time, the home advisors even have their own say in it and tell how they help customers make their home dreams come true. Inspiration is and remains an important aspect. That's why the number of pages in the catalog showing living ideas has been greatly increased.

Personalization, which plays an increasingly important role at Livique, also received more space. The furniture and personalization options are shown in detail. "This catalog shows in every detail and on every page what the idea behind Livique is and where we want to go with our company," says Livique CEO Oliver Roth, "and it's an excellent tool to continue the momentum we feel since the re-branding."

NZZ Media Group records growth in user market

Growth in the User Market The founding of CH Media enables the NZZ Media Group to pool its resources and focus even more strongly on its core business. This change has a significant impact on the NZZ Media Group’s 2018 financial statements and makes it particularly difficult to compare them with the previous year, both in terms of operating revenue and cost categories and on the balance sheet. Operating income (EBIT) declined by 4.9 million Swiss francs to 20.8 million Swiss francs due to one-time items. Excluding this impact, operating income would have remained at the previous year’s level. Group net income decreased by 9.8 million Swiss francs to 18.8 million Swiss francs. In the NZZ Media user market, revenue grew by 2 percent as a result of an increase in subscribers.

https://vimeo.com/181042979

The financial statements of the financial year are primarily characterized by the joint venture CH Media between NZZ Media Group and AZ Medien, which commenced operations on October 1, 2018. As of October, the NZZ regional media companies were transferred to the joint venture, and the corresponding revenues and expenses are no longer included in the consolidated financial statements as of that date. CH Media is accounted for using the equity method, and its proportionate share of net income is included within the operating result. This change has a significant impact on the financial statements of the NZZ Media Group. Overall, NZZ Media Group generated total operating income of CHF 383.5 million in the 2018 financial year. This corresponds to a decrease of CHF 44.7 million compared to the previous year. The decrease is mainly due to the transfer of the NZZ regional media to CH Media.

Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) decreased by CHF 4.9 million to CHF 20.8 million in the reporting period. The EBIT margin decreased from 6.0% to 5.4%. The decline is mainly due to one-off expenses in connection with the integration program of CH Media, half of which flow into the financial statements of the NZZ Media Group. The aim of the program is to merge the two companies from the NZZ Media Group and AZ Medien, thereby realizing synergies to secure a sustainable future. Excluding these special effects, the operating result would be at the level of the 2017 financial year.

Mainly due to the non-recurring expenses of CH Media and a lower financial result in the 2018 financial year, the 2018 group result of NZZ Media Group decreased by CHF 9.8 million to CHF 18.8 million. The lower financial result is related in particular to price losses suffered on the securities portfolio in December 2018 and gains from the sale of equity interests included in the previous year.

"The NZZ Media Group consistently focuses on first-class journalistic offerings. Our strategy and clear focus on our core business clearly distinguish us from our competitors. The signs from the market are encouraging; for example, we were able to increase the number of paying subscribers by4% last year," says Felix Graf, CEO of NZZ Media Group, commenting on the annual financial statements.

Equity including minority interests decreased by CHF 21.0 million to CHF 264.3 million. Due to a reduced balance sheet total mainly as a result of the transfer of NZZ Regional Media to the joint venture (disposal of assets and liabilities through deconsolidation of the individual companies), the equity ratio increased from 66.8 percent to 75.6 percent and is thus at a high level. The Board of Directors proposes to the Annual General Meeting a dividend of CHF 200 per share (previous year: CHF 250).

Segment information

NZZ Media

Revenues of the NZZ Media business unit increased slightly by CHF 0.4 million to CHF 157.3 million in 2018. In the user market, the sales of the book publisher NZZ Libro were omitted from June due to the cooperation with Schwabe AG. Excluding this effect, sales growth of 2% was achieved, primarily with more subscribers. In addition, service charges to the CH Media Group led to an increase in sales. In the advertising market, on the other hand, the continuing structural decline and, in addition, the bankruptcy of the advertising broker Publicitas had an impact, resulting in a decline in sales of CHF 3.7 million. The losses from the advertising market could only be partially compensated, and the operating result (EBIT) of CHF 5.0 million was CHF 1.9 million below the previous year.

Business media

Sales of the Business Media unit decreased by CHF 2.9 million to CHF 53.4 million in 2018. The decline is attributable to discontinued operations such as the online platform eBalance, which was sold in 2017, and NZZ Fachmedien, which was transferred to the joint venture CH Media as of October 2018. Adjusted for these effects, growth of 4% would have resulted, attributable to the Conferences and Information Services segments. The operating result (EBIT) improved by CHF 1.4 million to CHF 8.9 million.

Regional media

Due to the joint venture CH Media, the NZZ regional media companies are only included in the financial statements from January to September in the financial year 2018. From October onwards, the proportionate corporate result of CH Media is included. As a result of this change, the prior-year comparison in terms of revenues is significantly impaired. At CHF 6.9 million, the operating result is CHF 4.4 million below the previous year, mainly due to the non-recurring expenses at CH Media.

Re-elections to the Board of Directors

At the upcoming Annual General Meeting on April 6, 2019, the ordinary term of office of Bernd Kundrun, Christoph Schmid and Etienne Jornod will expire. All three are standing for re-election in the same positions and are proposed by the Board of Directors for a further four-year term of office.
