Ideas from strong people for strong parents - There is always an alternative to violence

In Switzerland, approximately 130,000 children are still regularly subjected to psychological and/or physical abuse in the home. Together with Jung von Matt/Limmat, the Swiss Child Protection Foundation is raising public awareness through a trilingual, nationwide campaign.

In 2018, the Swiss Child Protection Foundation launched a three-year awareness-raising campaign to sensitize the public, parents and politicians to the issue of violence in parenting, point out alternative courses of action and encourage a rethink. The first wave of the campaign conveyed ideas and immediate strategies for moms and dads from the children's perspective.

Concrete ideas

In the second wave of the campaign, the Swiss Child Protection Foundation and Jung von Matt/Limmat are focusing on parents and grandparents. Together, they reflect on their personal experiences with physical and psychological violence in their own childhood and in everyday life with their children and grandchildren. It becomes clear that it is everyday stressful situations when dealing with children that push parents to their limits. And that is precisely why parents and grandparents share their own personal strategies for defusing critical parenting situations in everyday life and getting a grip on themselves before their hand or words slip. Because there is always an alternative to violence. "As a father, the issue of violence in parenting is of course particularly close to my heart and I am delighted to be able to contribute to the social debate with this campaign," says Roman Hirsbrunner, CEO of Jung von Matt/Limmat.

Strong decisions

The ideas are conveyed in online spots, banners and out-of-home measures as well as advertisements in specialist media and show that violence in education concerns us all: Violence in education concerns us all. "It's time for a sustainable change in social values on the subject of violence in parenting. Parents, children and society benefit equally from an upbringing that does not use inappropriate psychological or physical punishment as a means of education," says Xenia Schlegel, Head of the Swiss Child Protection Foundation's office. With the campaign "Strong ideas - there is always an alternative to violence", the Swiss Child Protection Foundation encourages parents and guardians to deal honestly and openly with challenges and learned behaviors and to make strong decisions.

KSP for Sherpa Tensing: Made for outdoors

To mark the anniversary of Sherpa Tensing in 2019, KSP Krieg Schlupp Partner, on behalf of Steinfels Swiss, revamped the brand identity of this traditional Swiss brand.

SherpaTensing_F12

The new claim "Made for outdoors" is intended to appeal to people who like to spend a lot of time outdoors in all seasons. And who want to enjoy nature carefree with sun protection from Sherpa Tensing.

The brand world is therefore less cosmetic and beauty-oriented like that of the competitors, but category-untypical rather in the look of an outdoor brand.

The first shoot took place last summer at Lake Cresta to capture exactly this leisure lifestyle in the Swiss mountains.

The history of the brand with its namesake Tensing Norgay, who together with Sir Edmund Hillary succeeded in the first ascent of Mount Everest, is also being retold by KSP and integrated into the new brand world: "Sun protection. Swiss made. Since 1954."

The new brand world will be used in traditional advertising, at POS, on the website and in the new social media presence.

In addition, "G&G" will get more airtime and, at 20 minutes, will now last about twice as long. This will make "G&G - Faces and Stories" the new centerpiece of the early evening, as Schweizer Fernsehen SRF announced on Wednesday.

The "Tagesschau" and the weather program "Meteo" will also be longer. An "interview of the day" will be integrated into the "Tagesschau. And "Meteo" will go into greater detail about regional weather features.

The "expansion of information services in pre-evening programming" will take place at the same time as the commissioning of the new newsroom 19. (SDA)

Scholz & Friends for new moments of glory in skiing

Scholz & Friends is developing the visual identity for the bid to host the 2025 FIS Alpine World Championships in Crans-Montana, Valais.

With the official submission of the bid to host the 2025 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships on Tuesday, those responsible for the Crans-Montana/Wallis World Championships Bid Committee want to write another chapter in Swiss sporting history.

Scholz & Friends Zurich developed the visual identity in collaboration with the design unit Scholz & Friends Identify. It combines the origin, competence and ambition of the traditional ski destination on the Valais high plateau with the dynamism and power of alpine ski racing.

Within the flexible design principle, the Valais star ensures a clear commitment to the canton and is also a reference to the unforgettable 1987 World Ski Championships in Crans-Montana - one of the great moments in Swiss sport. Curved lines stand for the different alpine disciplines and make their dynamics visible on all media. Other elements such as modern typography and colors underline the emotion, passion and lifeblood of skiing and the bid. The municipalities of Crans-Montana, Lens and Icogne and the canton of Valais are fully behind the bid. If the bid is unsuccessful in the FIS Council's World Championship election at the end of May 2020, Crans-Montana will run again for 2027 or 2029.

With around 700 employees from all disciplines, Scholz & Friends is one of the leading agency groups in the DACH region and is represented in Switzerland at its Zurich office.

Damage or not: Jung von Matt/Limmat launches the first Mobiliar campaign

Jung von Matt/Limmat is launching the first campaign for Mobiliar following the agency switch and is unifying the company’s campaigns under a common strategy. At the heart of the surplus fund campaign is the message: Whether you file a claim or not—we’ll share our mutual success with you.

90053919003_UBF_Spezialformat_Apropos_119x53_d[1]

Jung von Matt/Limmat has realized the first campaign for Mobiliar after the agency change. The communications agency worked with the insurance company to implement an overarching communications strategy and an intelligent evolution of the umbrella brand campaign. Mobiliar's campaigns are united by a common theme of address, promise and tonality.

Whatever comes

In the surplus fund campaign, two commercials tell the story of near misses. Whether it's the rocket that flies through the house rather than into it, or the Nordic walking group that skilfully walks around a couple with their aquarium: Mobiliar almost takes action. On social media, too, people shudder when glasses threaten to shatter and porcelain vases are on the brink of collapse. Whatever happens, Mobiliar customers can look forward to a profit-sharing bonus again this year. Other measures implemented include: Online spots, poster advertising and digital out-of-home measures, print ads and radio spots. The campaign can also be experienced in the general agencies: when customers enter the branches, they hear a rattling noise as if something has been broken - but fortunately nothing has happened.

Furniture connects

The surplus fund campaign moves closer to Mobiliar's umbrella campaign with humor, heart and a happy ending and connects with the audience through stories taken from real life. Over the course of the year, Jung von Matt/Limmat will implement further campaigns for Mobiliar and tell even more stories - whether damage or not.

Responsible at Mobiliar: Frédéric Zürcher (Head of Marketing Communications), Nicole Bieri (Marketing Communications Specialist), Hanna Poffet (Marketing Communications Specialist). Responsible at Jung von Matt/Limmat: Wolfgang Bark (Creative Direction), Linda Solanki, Frederik Dreier, Cla Campell (Text), Cansu Sezer, Regine Cavicchioli (Art Direction), Noemi Russenberger, Raymi Mendoz (Graphics), Matthias Müller (Strategy), Cyrill Wirz, Nemi Wildbolz (Concept), Fiona Gottwald, Valeria Vuckovic, Jasmin Jost (Consulting), Michel Nellen (Consulting), JvM/services (DTP), Cyrill Hauser (Chief Client Officer). Who will win Game of Thrones? Algorithm predicts chances of survival

Shortly before the start of the final season of the TV series "Game of Thrones" (GoT), students in a computer science seminar at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) embarked on an unusual scientific mission: machine learning algorithms programmed by them predict which character will ascend the coveted Iron Throne.

ege

Students at the Technical University of Munich have developed a computer science application that searches the internet for data on the series "Game of Thrones" and processes the figures using artificial intelligence algorithms. This enables them to predict the chances of survival of the individual Game of Thrones characters.

Back in 2016, shortly before the airing of season 6, students on the same course developed an algorithm that correctly predicted the resurrection of Jon Snow.

Similar algorithms are used in medicine and finance

This time, the algorithm developed by the students predicts that Daenerys Targaryen has the highest chance (99 percent) of surviving the GoT world. The King's right-hand man, Tyrion Lannister, also has a promising survival rate of 97 percent.

Survival rates are predicted using longevity analysis. This technique is similar to scientific applications that study the effects of treatments and complications in cancer patients. The full list of characters and their survival rates are available online at Got.show available.

Experienced GoT fans can familiarize themselves in detail with the technology used for the predictions on the website. For example, the fact that Sansa Stark was born in Winterfell in the House of Stark and has only been married once seems to increase his chances in the upcoming season. Her predicted probability of death is only 73 percent.

Fans interested in exploring the differences between the plot of the TV series and the story from the books on which the TV series is based will find a direct comparison of character details, including age, status (Dead vs. Alive) and predictions of survival probability.

Popular series ensures maximum engagement

The work on these algorithms is part of a JavaScript seminar that is held every semester at the Department of Computer Science at the Technical University of Munich. During the course, participants learn how to design, develop and use intelligent computer systems.

The course's lead mentor, Dr. Guy Yachdav, says: "While the task of predicting chances of survival for Game of Thrones characters is based on data from the world of fantasy, the same artificial intelligence techniques are used in reality and have a strong impact on our everyday lives."

Professor Burkhard Rost, Head of the Chair of Bioinformatics at TUM, adds: "The combination of teaching and passion is a brilliant way to give students experience in using these new tools and prepare them to create great new applications themselves after graduation."

Six reasons why digital out-of-home is a medium with a future

Kontor Digital Media gives six reasons why digital out-of-home (DOOH) is a medium with a future.

Kontor_Digital_Media_POOH_Muenchen_Novasol_Ströer_Screen

Our image of Times Square in New York or Piccadilly Circus in London is characterized by many colorful and flashing screens. There, brands promote their new products or advertise for brand awareness. But outdoor advertising is not only successful in these mega-hotspots. Thanks to digitization, out-of-home (OOH) is on the rise as an advertising medium worldwide. Six reasons why.

1. one-to-many medium without adblocker

We live in a time when online advertising has to reinvent itself again. Ad fraud, bot traffic, brand safety scandals, and too many banners on websites are making it difficult for the media genre. Banner blindness and adblockers are the consequences. In addition, the use of online media is becoming increasingly fragmented. Digital out-of-home, however, is not affected by this decline in reach. The advertising is integrated into people's lifestyles, is part of the cityscape, and is not distracting. Another advantage is that users do not have to be online to consume digital messages.

2. advertising expenditure for out-of-home on the upswing

The out-of-home category has great potential thanks to the digitization of screens. This is also confirmed by various forecasts for the advertising market. Out-of-home advertising is the only traditional advertising medium that has grown worldwide in the last ten years (Magna/Rapport); in Germany, net advertising expenditure has risen by five percent in each of the last five years. This development is due to the spread of digital screens. The revenue share of digital advertising space in the OOH market was 24 percent in Germany in 2018 (Nielsen).

3. the internet giants discover out-of-home for themselves

Out-of-home is traditionally the métier of brands from retail, entertainment, gastronomy or tourism (Magna/Rapport). But in the last two years, the big Internet companies such as Google, Amazon, Facebook, Apple or Netflix have started to use outdoor advertising in various markets to promote their reputation or advertise new services. In Germany, Amazon is already one of the top 20 spenders in OOH.

4. programmatic advertising improves the data situation and controllability

With the increasing digitization of out-of-home advertising media, the importance of programmatic advertising, the automated buying and selling of inventory, is also growing. According to the company's own estimates, around five percent of DOOH space in Germany is currently managed via programmatic advertising. As soon as real-time bidding for programmatic out-of-home becomes established, outdoor advertising will become more attractive for marketers, agencies and advertisers: programmatic advertising promises better controllability of advertising and finer data for audience tracking, and the user journey will become even more transparent.

5. reality expands

In the future, we will see more outdoor advertising with augmented reality. In branding campaigns, the focus will be on the experience, while augmented reality scenarios will be used more often in performance campaigns. Passers-by can use their smartphone to buy the advertised products from the ad right away, for example, or get to the landing page, the online store, or a customer advisor without a media break.

6. digital outdoor advertising works

A study by Wall Street consultancy PJ Solomon shows that out-of-home works better than the media genres of TV, radio, online and print. The subjects' advertising recall ranged from 47 to 82 percent for advertising on digital OOH spaces. TV achieved values between 22 and 62 percent. Figures from Nielsen show that DOOH also influences purchase decisions and promotes sales. An analysis of video ads on digital screens in supermarkets (in-store TV) showed that the advertised products generated between eight and 181 percent additional sales, depending on the sector.

Jean-Paul Daniel, Managing Director of Kontor Digital Media (KDM), emphasizes that many advertisers are still cautious when it comes to digital out-of-home. Apart from the big spenders, many are familiar with classic outdoor advertising, but not with the possibilities of digitization in this area: "The genre now needs reliable data that can be used in real time, compatible key figures for measurement, and functioning integration in analytics tools or marketing suites. Above all, it needs pioneers among advertisers who trust Programmatic-OOH and test the possibilities. Best practices will pave the way to the outdoor advertising of the future."

Whitepaper "Outdoor Advertising with a Future: How Programmatic Out-of-Home Works".

The latest whitepaper from Kontor Digital Media and BlueShepherd provides an introduction to digital out-of-home and programmatic advertising for advertisers and other interested parties. It shows what potential advertisers can leverage with programmatic out-of-home advertising, how the technology works, and what role the genre can play in the media mix in the future.
