Ruf Lanz recalls Hiltl's roots again

In the sequel to the award-winning text campaign, Ruf Lanz pointedly recalls the beginnings of the world's oldest vegetarian restaurant.

Hiltl in Zurich is the oldest vegetarian restaurant in the world, according to Guinness World Records. Its roots go back to 1898, when vegetarians were considered oddballs. They were derided as "grass-eaters," and in its early days the Hiltl was gleefully called the "root bunker.

Today, vegetarian and vegan enjoyment is on everyone's lips, and corresponding restaurants are springing up like mushrooms. That's why Ruf Lanz reminded us of the roots of the original in 2018, on the occasion of its 120th anniversary, with a trenchant text campaign (Werbewoche.ch reported).

According to Rolf Hiltl, who is now the fourth generation to run Hiltl, the campaign was very well received: "The posters were regularly requested from us and even stolen at several locations." Along the way, the campaign won several awards, including the only cube in the text category at last year's ADC judging.

Reason enough for Hiltl and its lead agency Ruf Lanz to remind people once again that vegetarian and vegan cooking was already being done at Hiltl when it was not at all trendy. And they had to assert themselves against a lot of resistance.

The campaign is used online and offline in various applications.

Been There, Done That: Thjnk implements Social Wall for Edelweiss at Zurich Airport

For almost three years now, Thjnk Zurich and Edelweiss have been promoting the airline's destination diversity with the claim "Been there. Done that." Now Edelweiss passengers are also part of the campaign.

001

In the promotion, Thjnk is merging social media with physical billboard advertising: Instagram posts featuring a beautiful vacation picture from one of the 70 Edelweiss destinations and tagged with the hashtags #flyedelweiss and #DoneThat2019 are printed out and hung as a small poster on the 125-meter-long passageway wall between parking garage P6 and Terminal 1.

Over a period of several months, new vacation pictures of real vacationers will be posted every two weeks on the wall, which is heavily frequented by travelers and shopping tourists alike, and the creators of the pictures will automatically become digital Edelweiss advertising ambassadors in their own social channels through the hashtags. Long-haul flights will be raffled off among the participants who make their pictures available.

The billboard will be continuously supplemented with new posters on the corresponding destinations over the course of an entire year.

Sunrise promotes merger with UPC to customers

Sunrise has launched a promotional campaign in the battle to acquire UPC—not only targeting shareholders, but also customers.

sunrise-upce

In an e-mail and with a short cartoon, the telecommunications provider wants to show its subscribers and prepaid users that they too would benefit from a takeover of the cable network operator.

Specifically, Sunrise emphasizes that a merger would combine the infrastructure and knowledge of the two companies and therefore Sunrise and UPC could achieve more together. Thus, there is talk of the best "high-broadband network" and best 5G network that would be created with a merger. In addition, Sunrise promises that with a merger, customers should expect "more performance at better prices".

It is not unusual for Sunrise to advertise the acquisition of UPC to its customers. In other company acquisitions and takeovers, the parties involved have also advertised their plans to the public, although in the end it was shareholders, authorities or the courts who decided whether the deal went ahead. For example, in the battle over the sale of construction chemicals manufacturer Sika to the French Saint-Gobain Group, the various camps involved mounted veritable PR offensives.

Sunrise wants to take over UPC for CHF 6.3 billion. The German company Freenet, which holds around a quarter of all Sunrise shares, is particularly opposed to the planned merger. But other larger shareholders have also publicly voiced criticism of the purchase of UPC. Whether the planned deal goes ahead will be decided by Sunrise shareholders at an extraordinary general meeting in October, where a decision will be taken on its financing. On the other hand, the Swiss Federal Competition Commission must also give the go-ahead for the project. (SDA)

Caroline Scherb becomes partner at Lemongrass Communications

Caroline Scherb, Chief Communications Officer of Swiss Re, will join Lemongrass Communications as of January 1, 2020, strengthening the team as a partner.

Caroline_Scherb_20190904

After more than 20 years in leading positions on the corporate side, Caroline Scherb is moving back into consulting. As a partner, she will strengthen Lemongrass Communications as of January 1, 2020, advising in particular boards of directors and executive boards on reputation and positioning issues, accompanying transformation processes, and supporting companies in organizing and staffing the communications function. In doing so, she can draw on a broad range of experience from internal and external communications as well as branding and employee engagement at internationally active companies in various industries.

Caroline Scherb has been Chief Communications Officer of Swiss Re since 2010 and in this role has led the company's global internal and external communications. She was responsible for Swiss Re's successful brand positioning by strategically integrating branding, marketing communications, media relations, leadership and employee communications as well as digital competencies and arts and culture engagements and consistently implementing them worldwide.

Prior to that, Caroline Scherb worked at the chemical company Ciba, where she assumed overall responsibility for the company's communications in 2005 and played a key role in its integration into BASF in 2009 and 2010. She gained her first experience in consulting at Ketchum, an international PR agency, where she worked in Munich and New York primarily for companies in the consumer goods industry. Caroline Scherb studied marketing communications in Munich and holds an Executive Master of Science in Communications Management from the University of Lugano.

With Caroline Scherb, Lemongrass Communications broadens the existing partnership of Karin Rhomberg, Cornelia Schmid, Peter Hartmeier, Hans-Peter Wäfler and Andreas Hildenbrand and further deepens the service capacity. In addition, Lemongrass continues to work with Barbara Heller, Managing Director of Swipra Services, as a consultant in corporate governance and defense consulting, and cooperates with Esther Girsberger, Managing Director of Speakers.ch, in event content conception.

Gassmann Digital presents the field hockey city Biel

Following a successful season, EHC Biel has qualified for the 2019/20 Champions Hockey League—and is now showcasing the club and the region in a video clip. Gassmann Digital is responsible for the production.

EHCB-FILM-CHL-Final-0-2-screenshot

In a 107-second video, various scenes are shown in Biel settings. Either goalie legend Olivier Anken is catching a bottle of Bielersee wine, or EHCB captain Mathieu Tschantré is fishing on Lake Biel with his field hockey stick.

Laurent Wyss and Micha Hurni from Gassmann Digital are responsible for the concept, direction, camera, editing and sound. "We wanted to show different neighborhoods, but also that Biel is the watch capital of the world, is located on a wonderful lake and, of course, how hockey-crazy the people of Biel are," says Laurent Wyss.

And they probably are, because the funding for the clip comes from EHC Biel Marketing, the City of Biel, Biel-Seeland Tourism and the Biel-Seeland Chamber of Commerce Wibs. "They were on board as soon as we presented the concept to them," says Wyss.

André D. Dummermuth and Michael Sutter from Gassmann Digital were responsible for the consultation. The clip will be shown on the web, on social media and on TV.

Brand Core and Rob Nicolas: With Instagram Community to Pop-Up Restaurant

For GastroGraubünden, Markenkern and Rob Nicolas showcase two friends on their way to opening their own pop-up restaurant. On Instagram, the community can follow the development of the restaurant as part of a web series and help decide on the most important issues, such as the menu or the name.

gastrostory-keyvisual-mit-schriftzug

The GastroGraubünden association imparts knowledge about restaurant management. "Our training courses and courses are designed for anyone who wants to continuously improve as a first-class host or who wants to embark on the adventure of gastronomy as a newcomer," says Marc Tischhauser, Managing Director of GastroGraubünden. To publicize this offer, the association has brought the agencies Markenkern and Rob Nicolas on board.

Offering an experience

"We wanted to demonstrate GastroGraubünden's expertise in a likeable way and emphasize the practical relevance of the training courses on offer," says Giancarlo Derungs, project manager at Markenkern. "This gave rise to the idea of creating something 'real' instead of a pure communication campaign that the community can help shape and experience."

Robin Mark, Managing Director at Rob Nicolas, adds: "At the same time, we are using the attention for the association as part of the gastro story to create the basis for future communication measures with a clever campaign and tracking architecture."

During the casting in spring, the two young restaurateurs Nina Fopp and Jan "Smüde" Edelbauer were won over for the project. The gastro story went live with the first episode on August 19. Until the pop-up restaurant opens on October 25, there will be a new episode to discover every other Monday at 3 pm.

Vorwerk Switzerland and Serviceplan Suisse search for the worst cook in Switzerland

With the Thermomix TM6 from Vorwerk, there’s hope even for the worst cooks. That’s why Serviceplan Suisse and Vorwerk Switzerland are launching a storytelling campaign to find Switzerland’s worst cook.

Keyvisual_16-9

The goal of the campaign is to make the Thermomix known in Switzerland, to dramatize the food experience and to generate as much traffic as possible on the landing page. The communication tools are intended to appeal to a young and open-minded target group that wants to eat consciously without investing a lot of time. "We estimate the market potential to be great and we are convinced that we can increase the market share with this campaign and support our representatives in the market development in an original way," explains René Rütimann, Head of Marketing at Vorwerk Switzerland.

The heart of the campaign is the search for the worst cook in Switzerland, who gets to cook for five friends as part of a cooking event with celebrity chef Silvio Germann and the new Thermomix TM6.

The campaign is divided into four phases and started on Monday with the call for competition participation on the landing page Schlechtesterkoch.thermomix.ch. After that, the participants first face a pre-selection by the jury and later the public voting on the Vorwerk Switzerland website. The campaign ends at the end of November with best-of stories from the event.

The campaign will be targeted via the social media channels and newsletters of Vorwerk Switzerland and via the channels of Betty Bossi, 20 Minuten and the representatives in German- and French-speaking Switzerland and supported with YouTube Bumper Ads and SEA.

Responsible at Vorwerk Switzerland: Jorge Lasheras (Managing Director Sales & Marketing); René Rütimann (Head of Marketing); Monika Hofstetter (Manager Communication). Responsible at Serviceplan: Thomas Lüber (CD); Jasmine von Niederhäusern (art direction, motion design); Mareike Pässler (text), Dominic Häuptli (consulting), Marianne Weibel (PR), Pam Hügli (overall responsibility); Selise (website development).

Pixels is committed to career restarts in the second half of life

The Sempach-based agency Pixels has launched a summer campaign in the Zurich area on behalf of the Neustarter Foundation to raise awareness of the topic of «career fresh starts in the second half of life» and to expand the community.

neustarter_2

Today's working world is digital, agile and dynamic. The Neustarter Foundation supports people over the age of 49 in daring to make changes in this working world, recognizing and seizing opportunities. "Neustarter has set itself the task of inspiring, encouraging and networking people after many years of working life and taking them one step further," says Bernadette Höller, Managing Director of the Neustarter Foundation.

Pixels has created a cross-media campaign for new starters to show that people over the age of 49 are by no means "expired" in the truest sense of the word, but that they all have "potential without an expiry date".

For four weeks, 90 poster sites in Zurich could be used free of charge for the Neustarter motif. In addition, the target group was made aware of the Neustarter.com offer via Facebook. Despite a small non-profit budget, almost 100 new leads and three inquiries from large companies regarding advice on "generation-friendly talent management" were generated, as well as a great deal of attention for the cause.

Vasataschröder develops new image for Möbel Pfister

Möbel Pfister is breaking new ground with its new brand identity. The Hamburg-based agency Vasataschröder is behind the campaign, which launches on Thursday; the agency even set up a consulting office in Zurich for this purpose.

TVC_Screenshot

"The main aim of the new communications presence is to become more emotional and to create greater recognition through a new visual concept," says Head of Marketing and Communications Paul Holaschke of Möbel Pfister. "On the way to becoming a popular digital brand, we have consciously worked towards a 'shared-value' concept. 'Shared-Value' because it combines our aspiration and performance as a premium brand with an attitude that really matters to all our customers and is based on a broad social consensus."

Pfister's brand positioning is all about the special value of people's individual personalities, which deserve a correspondingly unique home. The campaign around the idea "Welcome to your home" is therefore focused on the diversity of human personality.

In the course of this, the agency was responsible for revamping the entire visual identity. "This starts with a more emotional - more personal - photographic approach and also includes the consistent use of the brand-typical red rectangle, the Pfister 'door', to ensure better recognition," says Carol Renfer, Head of Communications at Möbel Pfister.

Visual_Klassik

Individual address of a heterogeneous target group

The campaign and the new appearance were developed by the Vasataschröder consulting office in Zurich, which was newly founded especially for Möbel Pfister. The strategy and creation were developed in close cooperation with the Hamburg office. "The cross-location collaboration offers unbeatable added value for all sides: brand proximity and cultural access directly on site, that in combination with creation from Hamburg," says Safavi-Hir. "It's a concept we'd like to open up to other potential Swiss clients as well."

The campaign includes a 48-second TV and YouTube spot with various 11-second offer spots, print and OOH, radio and streaming spots, extensive online and social media measures, and a new appearance at the point of sale. Other elements of the campaign include a 44-page catalog and accompanying public relations.

The TV and YouTube spot, which will be launched at the beginning of September, differs from the other advertising media in its visual language. The subjects focus on activation and recognition, while the spot tells a story and aims to be less promotional. This was a conscious decision on the part of those responsible: "We're not interested in every advertising medium looking the same, but in coherence. The unifying element is always the core message. Depending on the medium, this needs to be charged in a way that is sometimes more emotional, sometimes more activating," says Vasataschröder creative director Mirko Vasata.
