Megura agency moves to Baden

Until now, the Megura agency was located on Bahnhofstrasse in Wettingen. Now the agency is moving to the neighboring spa town. It can now be found on Theaterplatz in Baden.

agentur_megura_baden

The fifteen-strong Aargau agency with a focus on SMEs has been around for around 16 years. Their motto: "Those who rest on their laurels are wearing them in the wrong place". That is why the agency itself has decided to move from Wettingen to the center of the neighboring town of Baden. In the new studio space, the employees want to get creative with customers and uncover dormant potential.

In addition, the agency has also expanded its range of services with branding and positioning workshops, where clients can find fresh ideas in the future.

The basis remains the same: All kinds of advertising campaigns and measures, websites and online projects are also designed and realized from Baden - the latter also with in-house developers.

Bold launches evocative fall campaign for Pro Senectute

Seniors deserve to be cared for, not discarded—that is the message of this year’s fall fundraising campaign by Pro Senectute. Bold is responsible for its implementation.

The campaign shows an old woman who has been dumped in the attic together with superfluous household goods and forgotten. The deliberately provocative appearance was conceived and implemented by Bold from Bern.

The TV spot and mailing focus without glossing over the question of how our society would like to deal with older people, and thus encourage people to think. As Switzerland's largest provider of services for the elderly, Pro Senectute has been committed to a self-determined and dignified retirement for over 100 years - yesterday, today and tomorrow. Every donation is therefore an investment in your own future.

Previous organizers withdraw

After presenting the awards, the previous organizers of the Swiss Print Award, Jean-Paul Thalmann, publisher of the Print Market Switzerlandand the editor-in-chief of the trade magazine, Klaus-Peter Nicolai, are announcing various changes: Both will retire from the Swiss Print Award. From 2020, the award will be continued and modernized by five long-standing jury members in a joint management (picture below, with Jean-Paul Thalmann and Klaus-Peter Nicolai on the far left).

From 2020, the new management team will comprise Marco Bieri, Alexander Colby, Anne-Friederike Heinrich, Beni Kiser and Michael Waldvogel, all well-known figures from the print and communications industry.

As most of the previous jury members are taking on new tasks with the operational management, the Swiss Print Award jury will also be staffed with new creative minds. The management team is currently putting together the new jury and is already initiating other important changes. "The most important change will be that we will no longer 'only' award excellent Swiss print. We are looking for bridges that print builds into the future," the new organizers are quoted as saying. "But the irrepressible 'desire for print' will continue to be our driving force." (pd/hae)

Bühler&Bühler breaks new ground in 1-to-1 communication for Swisscom

As Swisscom’s lead agency, Bühler&Bühler develops sales promotion initiatives for existing and potential residential and business customers. In doing so, the agency is breaking new ground.

SCS-SMS-Landingpage

"Dialog marketing is most effective when it doesn't have to do everything," says Doris Bühler, Creative Director of Bühler&Bühler. "That's why our strategic approach is to be appealing instead of being inundated with stimuli."

Less can be more

In its channel strategy, Bühler&Bühler relies on digital implementations as well as print measures. Whether interactive e-mailings, personalized landing pages, SMS dialogs, postcards with lenticular effect, or curiosity-awakening self-mailers - all feature a consistent visual language with reduced content. The common denominator is a simple story, coupled with surprising elements. The story is decisive, not the amount of information.

Earning attention instead of gaining it

"Nobody waits for a mailing. That's exactly why we want to design it in such a way that people don't want to miss it - because it moves, inspires, or is useful. With Swisscom, we are lucky to have a client who understands and encourages this," says CEO Raphael Bühler, describing the agency's motivation to continuously develop the discipline.

And apparently with success. "The customer reactions and results show that we are on the right track with the new strategy. We have succeeded in drawing attention to our products even more effectively and at the same time strengthening the brand image," says Alexander Möckli, Head of Campaigning at Swisscom.

This week, the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich starts the new season with its new chief conductor and music director Paavo Järvi. In 2021, the renovation work will be completed. A new identity and a new appearance are to underline this. As part of this, the Tonhalle Society Zurich has commissioned MetaDesign to develop the new brand and provide communications support.

Michaela Braun, head of marketing and communications and member of the management of the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich: "A new season, a new chief conductor and the renovation of our venue: we are undergoing a great deal of change. We want to take advantage of this moment and are pleased to be able to count on a partner like MetaDesign, which has already successfully supported other cultural institutions, for such an important step."

The Blick TV presenter team is complete

In addition to Reto Scherrer, five other hosts are joining the digital channel. They all impressed the casting team and will soon be in front of the camera at the Blick TV studios.

blick-tv

Last summer's big casting call, for which Jonas Projer, editor-in-chief of Blick TV, dived into Lake Zurich in a suit, worked. "We received over 180 applications and got to know many exciting characters and talents - from all parts of German-speaking Switzerland," says Projer. During the further casting round, five people prevailed who, alongside Reto Scherrer, will lead Blick TV through the broadcasts as anchors and give Switzerland's first digital channel their face.

The presenters at Blick TV are:

Damian Betschart (34) has been a presenter and music editor at Radio Pilatus for eight years, since 2016 as host of the morning show. On the side, he is an event presenter and speaker and has also been in front of the camera for Tele 1 and Teleclub. During his career, the native of Schwyz has also worked for Radio 1 and as a print journalist for Blick and Insider magazine.

Lena Wilczek (24) has been working as a producer of a youth program and as an editor and presenter for the news program at Telebasel since 2016. Before that, she completed a bachelor's degree at the University of Basel and a part-time master's degree in new media journalism at the Leipzig School of Media.

Nico Nabholz (37) has been working as a reporter, video journalist and live presenter at TeleZüri since 2013; before that he was a reporter at Tele Top. Before moving to TV, Nabholz worked at Coopzeitung, as a freelance journalist at Tages-Anzeiger and in the communications department of DaimlerChrysler Financial Services. Since 2017, the Zurich native has also been working as a media trainer.

Reto Scherrer (43) most recently worked for 14 years as a presenter and editor in the SRF entertainment department and at Radio SRF 1. From 2005 to 2018, he was an outside reporter for the program "Donnschtig-Jass. In addition, the man from eastern Switzerland hosted various TV entertainment programs on SRF. Since 2007, he has also been behind the microphone at Radio SRF. He has been the "Samschtig-Jass" presenter since late summer 2017.

Simone star (26) is currently about to complete her master's degree, works as a research assistant for the Swiss Army, and works part-time as a yoga teacher. Previously, the Zurich native has lived and worked in various countries and cities: as a Fulbright Scholar in Rome, as a teacher in Seoul and as an actress in Los Angeles.

Sylwina Spiess (30) is the owner and managing director of a digital marketing agency. In addition, she maintains her own community on social media and reports there on topics from the areas of health and sustainability. The Zurich native was previously the host of the morning show on Planet 105 and has also been a presenter on TeleZüri since 2017.

Almost all other positions at Blick TV have now been filled, too, from video editors to live reporters. "With this team, we could also explore the North Pole or dare to land on the moon. It fills me with great joy and humility that we are all able to launch Blick TV together," says Projer. Blick TV will go on air in the first quarter of 2020 with state-of-the-art studios in the Ringier press building.

Jim & Jim and Sprite are committed to more openness, tolerance, and "meeh hugs"

Jim & Jim adapted the international «I Love You Hater» campaign for Sprite Switzerland and filled it with local stories and characters. The campaign aims to raise awareness among millennials and digital natives about openness and tolerance.

header_sprite_jimjim_01

Many young people are confronted with hate comments on their social networks. The campaign aims to combat this by appealing to them to respond positively to the comments and thus invalidate them.

For the implementation of "I Love you Hater" a series of emotional videos were produced featuring well-known musicians, athletes and polarizing people. Four protagonists, who are repeatedly confronted with hate comments on social media, speak out in favor of openness and tolerance. These include Swiss rapper Pronto Dinero, Swiss basketball player Emma Chardon, singer and former professional athlete Lucas Fischer and professional skater "Timmey".

The campaign is designed for use in the digital environment and on social media. Jim & Jim was responsible for the overall management. The concept and storyline were developed in close collaboration with Hillton Productions. The campaign was directed by the directing duo "Animals".

Involving affected people in the concept

In the run-up to the campaign, we worked with young people from the target group and those affected by social bullying to evaluate which "pain points" exist among young Swiss people that can lead to cyberbullying and which currently trigger the strongest emotions and reactions. Based on the insights from the community, four main pain points were identified: Appearance, origin, sexual orientation and demeanor.

Accordingly, the four protagonists were selected in collaboration with Hillton to convey the message based on their own story.

Unusual locations as a contrast to the hate comments

In different locations, the protagonists talk about their formative experiences with cyberbullying and how they used the hate comments as motivation and learned to deal with them.
In addition to the main video, various content pieces were produced for use on the social channels of the characters and sprites.

Publicis remains at the top of the LSA rankings in 2019

The agency landscape in Switzerland is changing rapidly: The 2019 ranking of leading communications agencies by the Leading Swiss Agencies association shows the extent to which many agencies are specializing and at the same time broadening their focus. This is evident in the formation of agency groups with sub-brands for different areas of expertise or the takeover of agencies in order to be able to provide clients with cross-disciplinary advice from a single source.

lsa-ranking

The LSA agencies generated cumulative revenues of CHF 506 million last year. The ranking is based on an evaluation of the gross operating revenues (BBE) achieved by LSA agencies for 2018 and provides an overview of the communications and media agencies in Switzerland organized in the association. It is compiled annually by Leading Swiss Agencies among its 78 members and is considered a guide to the Swiss communications market.

Revenues at communications agencies remain stable

The revenues of the LSA communication agencies in 2018 remained basically stable. However, fluctuations can be observed in isolated cases. These are understandable in view of the fundamental structural change in which the communications industry finds itself.

Publicis Zurich in first place in the ranking of communications agencies

There are changes at the top of the rankings: Jung von Matt Group now ranks third behind Farner Consulting and ahead of Wirz Communications. Publicis Communications Lausanne integrated the agencies Leo Burnett, Saatchi&Saatchi, MetaDesign and Prodigious (all based in Lausanne) under one roof and moved up from 18th to 6th place. As last year, Publicis Zurich remains the agency with the highest earnings.

lsa-ranking-02-1

Agencies not participating in the LSA ranking: Agentur am Flughafen, Altenrhein / cR Werbeagentur, Basel / DD Com, Zürich / Die Botschafter, St. Gallen / Fastr, Zürich / FCB Zürich, Zürich / Freundliche Grüsse, Zürich / KSP Krieg Schlupp Partner Werbeagentur, Zürich / Markenfels, Zürich / Marti Communications, Zürich / Netvertising, Zürich / Ogilvy Schweiz, Zürich / Process, Zürich / Rod Kommunikation, Zürich / Scholz & Friends Schweiz, Zürich / Synthèse Stratégie et communication d'entreprise, Lausanne / Team Cosmo, Zürich.

Dentsu Aegis Network now number 1 among media agencies

Major changes in the media agency rankings: Dentsu Aegis Network Switzerland now in first place. The 18 LSA media agencies generated around CHF 148 million in 2018. This corresponds to an increase of 46 percent compared to the previous year. The reason for this growth reported in the ranking was primarily the acquisition of Isobar, one of the leading agencies for digital transformation based in western Switzerland, by Dentsu Aegis Network Switzerland.

mediaagenturen-ranking-01

Explanations about the ranking

Gross operating income: Agency's own services charged to clients, including freelancers: fees from consulting of all kinds, compensation for textual, graphic and other work according to the income statement, excluding VAT and transitory items or income of other kinds.

Categories: Agencies are listed within each category according to actual gross operating revenue generated.

25 years of Tele Züri: A TV pioneer celebrates its birthday

Twenty-five years ago, the regional television station Tele Züri went on the air for the first time. Founded by Roger Schawinski, the station was revolutionary in many ways and transformed the Swiss television landscape. Video journalism was a new concept back then—with side effects like blurry images and noses filmed from below.

telezuerilogo

Tele Züri was the first station in Switzerland to use a one-hour program of news and talk, repeated every hour, and to work cost-effectively with video journalists instead of the three-man TV crews that were common at the time. The concept was later copied by most regional stations and is still "state of the art" among Swiss regional TV stations today.

Tele Züri went on the air for the first time on October 3, 1994. Video journalism was new to Switzerland at the time. For once, it was not Roger Schawinski's own invention, but he discovered the concept at the New York city station NY1 and adapted it for Zurich. In no time at all, Schawinski recruited 15 young people and trained them as video journalists in just two months.

Matthias Ackeret, publisher of Persönlich, recalls to Keystone-SDA: "None of us had ever held a camera before. Suddenly, I had three professions: Journalist, cameraman and sound engineer." Of course, they had to pay a lesson at the beginning, says Ackeret: "There were blurry pictures, unsightly quad collars and interviews filmed from below into the nostrils."

Initially, video journalists were still smiled at, but they quickly improved and became serious competition for SRG. They were often faster on the spot and more flexible to use. Nowadays, not only do practically all regional television stations work with video journalists, but they are also being used more and more frequently by Swiss television.

Repeat loop as a success factor

The program scheme was also unusual at the start. Tele Züri did not offer a full program, but only one hour of programming that was repeated every hour. The core elements have remained the same to this day: A daily news program and a half-hour talk show. Alternatively, an entertainment format such as "Lifestyle." The repeat principle became the station's very DNA. "The hourly loop was a decisive success factor," Markus Gilli, the station's longtime editor-in-chief and program director, tells Keystone-SDA. "Predictability is quite important for viewers. Watching TV has a lot to do with habits."

Today, Tele Züri says it reaches almost 300,000 viewers a day with its broadcasts. The flagship "Züri News" reached an average of 137,000 viewers in the first half of 2019. The market share for the first broadcast at 6 p.m. is 15.3 percent in the greater Zurich area.

New stylistic devices

Tele Züri shaped the Swiss television landscape in terms of both content and style. To this day, the newscasts focus primarily on the three P's: police, politics and celebrities - with blue-light stories having a particularly high priority.

New for Switzerland at the start were not only the tabloid topics, but also the fact that "the little man in the street" often had his say on Tele Züri. Street surveys and testimonies became a defining stylistic device of regional TV journalism.

"SRG quickly realized there was something fresh and dynamic coming, which also somewhat reflected the spirit of the times," says Ackeret. "That also influenced the choice of topics and the type of reporting on Swiss television."

Changing owners

Tele Züri was initially owned one-third each by Ringier, Tamedia and Roger Schawinski's Belcom. In 2001, Schawinski sold the station together with Radio 24 to Tamedia for CHF 92 million. In 2011, Tamedia passed the station on to Peter Wanner's AZ Medien for an unknown sum.

Together with Tele M1 and Tele Bärn, Tele Züri has since formed a station group that cooperates closely with each other. With the joint venture between AZ Medien and the NZZ Media Group, the NZZ stations TVO and Tele1 are now also part of this group. Added to this are the national stations TV24, TV25 and S1, which are also produced from Tele Züri's studios in the Steinfels area of Zurich.

New competition

Tele Züri and other local broadcasters have long since ceased to be the only providers of regional video content. The major online portals, as well as the Keystone-SDA agency, now have their own video departments. Tele Züri is also feeling this competition. "The pressure is increasing day by day; we used to be the first to report on a serious accident at 6 p.m.," says Markus Gilli. "Today, the video images can be seen online shortly after the event. So we have to be able to offer our viewers more than the others in the evening." He also says that competition is increasingly being felt in job postings: "Trained video journalists with experience are in demand."

Digital into the future

In order to stand up to the competition from online portals, Tele Züri is also continuously expanding its video online offering together with its partner stations. "TV will continue to be an evening medium for a long time to come, but certainly not a daytime medium. We also have to distribute our content on other channels," says Markus Gilli.

Despite the digital transformation, Gilli remains convinced: "Especially in a globalized world, the region in which you live plays a central and increasingly important role." Tele Züri's role will therefore remain, but the distribution channels will probably change over the next 25 years. (SDA)

Yellow makes the case for construction timber from Fagus

The Basel-based agency Yellow has developed a campaign for the startup Fagus, based in Les Breuleux in the Jura region, that showcases the strength of the new building material made from Swiss beech wood.

header_fagus_yellow

Fagus Suisse is the first and only company in Switzerland to specialize in the production of structural glulam from Swiss beech. The hardwood is processed using a novel method developed in collaboration with the Department of Architecture, Wood and Construction at the University of Applied Sciences Biel and the ETH Zurich.

The newly developed processing method means that the structural glulam has values in terms of flexural, tensile and compressive strength that replace steel and concrete in construction. In addition, the renewable building material increases the indoor climate and improves the ecological footprint of a building. Thus, beech is the natural alternative for steel and concrete. This message is conveyed to the target group in two key visuals.

The campaign includes various online measures, direct marketing measures, trade fair appearances and advertisements in selected trade magazines and will be in use from fall 2019.

Home Zurich and Wingo enter the second round with the Unlimited "Limited Edition

After a successful first Wingo campaign in spring, the Unlimited "Limited Edition" concept is used for the sequel. Heimat Zürich is once again responsible.

Wingo_Herbst_F12_1

In the spring, mobile provider Wingo launched an extremely low-cost mobile subscription for unlimited use in Switzerland. These conditions made the offer so attractive that the number of subscriptions was limited as a precaution. A limited offer for unlimited surfing and calling.

In collaboration with Heimat Zürich, this became the Unlimited "Limited Edition. And because the spring campaign was so successful, Wingo is now offering more subscriptions with the same conditions, and the current campaign once again satirizes common clichés and promises of screaming sales campaigns.

The Wingo Unlimited Limited Edition will be promoted on and offline on billboards, DOOH and social media. With this in mind: Hike! Run! It's got while it's got.
