There was also gossip in pharmacies

Excom Media would like to thank all pharmacies and drugstores for their extraordinary dedication during this time of crisis and launched a «thank you» campaign last Friday. At exactly 12:30 p.m., applause for the work of the staff rang out not only from balconies along the streets but also on all Excom Media screens across Switzerland.

"With this action, we wanted to say a big thank you to our site partners, who have been literally overrun in the past weeks and have been holding down the fort to ensure basic services for all of us," said Marc Goetti, CEO of Excom Media.

The pharmacy network also proved its worth in disseminating the federal government's national information campaign. Pharmacy customers were able to study the campaign's explanatory videos during waiting times, which clearly showed the most important hygiene and behavioral rules as well as hotline numbers for questions and uncertainties.

"After receiving the data in the newsroom, we played out the content across Switzerland in under 10 minutes," says Marc Goetti. "The rapid national distribution to people in a holding situation and the ability to share subjects within minutes at the push of a button are great advantages, especially in crisis communications. We are pleased to have been able to make our contribution."

Excom Media is the owner, operator and marketer of the Healthcare & Beauty Channels, the largest digital POS advertising platform in Swiss pharmacies and drugstores. The network comprises around 500 large screens.

"To mark the 20th anniversary of the employee magazine, it was time for a complete overhaul," explains Publishing Director Patrick Wehrli. With the facelift and the shortened name (now only Forte instead of Coop Forte Magazine), the magazine will be more dynamic and modern. The new concept is based on a practical format with a high proportion of images.

"Even in the new Forte the focus is on the employees of the Coop Group," continues Patrick Wehrli. The diversity of the Coop universe, current projects and the strategic thrusts of the various divisions also find their place in the Forte magazine. In addition, around 20 percent of the content in the new Forte regionalized, which should guarantee greater proximity to the reader.

New dossier

Each issue will now contain a dossier dedicated to a specific topic. In the first issue of the new magazine, which was published on Monday, everything revolves around the number 20, corresponding to the magazine's 20th anniversary.

Facts about Forte

The employee magazine is published quarterly in eight versions (per Coop sales region and language). The total circulation is 75,000 copies per issue and the magazine is sent to the homes of Coop Group employees and retirees. The cover (10 pages, folded) offers exclusive employee promotions. The magazine structure is based on the five Coop missions: close, diverse, distinctive, innovative and cooperative.

Better chances of winning at home

The Spanish football magazine Líbero uses various analogies to show that it is better to stay at home anyway.

sport3_resized-(1)

Undeniably, the chances of beating the coronavirus faster and more efficiently are better if you stay at home. This opinion is also Líbero and shows that this is not much different in football: Because various teams like Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid or the Spanish national soccer team, but also footballers like Lionel Messi or Jan Oblak had better statistics when they played a home game.

With this analogy, the magazine wants to persuade its readership to stay at home and is also making its entire catalog available online free of charge for this purpose. The Madrid-based agency David is responsible for the idea and implementation of the campaign.

Smart TV use is on the rise

The latest study by Goldbach, titled «Rising Star Smart TV – New Opportunities in a Digital World,» shows that smart TV use has taken off across all generations. Regular and daily usage is rising dramatically, and acceptance of smart TV as an advertising medium is high.

Goldbach's Smart TV DACH study examines the development of this digital media genre for the third year in a row. In addition to the penetration of smart TV sets in DACH households, the connection rate of the sets to the Internet was examined and the use of additional services was queried. Distribution and connection rates were already very high in previous years. Today, 80% of households have a smart TV according to their own information, which is an increase of 4% compared to the previous year. 88% of these are connected.

Enormous growth is visible - across all generations - in the use of the functions: 75% of respondents in the DACH region confirmed using the functions on the smart TV. This represents an increase of 4% compared to the previous year. Regular use increased by 10% on average compared to the previous year, and daily use even increased by 14% compared to the previous year.

For the first time, the study also asked about specific functions in use. A distinction was made here between HbbTV and App/VoD offerings and individual subcategories of these offerings. It was found that App/VoD offerings are more popular than HbbTV/Red Button.

The study also examined advertising acceptance in the environment of the additional functions on the smart TV. Around 40% of users accept advertising on the smart TV. The younger generation in particular finds advertising on the smart TV perfectly acceptable and informative.

Goldbach-Smart-TV_DACH-Studie-2019-17

Michael Baum, Director DACH at Goldbach, confirms: "Consumption and distribution of moving image content has changed dramatically in recent years. IP-based smart TV products are benefiting from this development, as this year's smart TV study also shows. With the aim of mapping the entire customer journey, it is central for us to adapt our offering to the change in media use. In this context, the smart TV sector is becoming increasingly important for intelligent combination with our TV and online moving-picture products."

Goldbach-Smart-TV_DACH-Studie-2019-3

The third wave of Three-country study on smart TV usage and advertising perception on smart TV devices by Goldbach was conducted by online survey. A total of 1,000 people between the ages of 14 and 69 took part, divided into age groups (14 to 29 years, 30 to 49 years, 50 to 69 years) and gender. 500 respondents came from Germany, 250 from Austria and 250 from German-speaking Switzerland.

On our own account: Marketing talk new on 28 May

The marketing discussion on the topic «Woo Me! The Economics of Seduction,» which was scheduled to take place on March 25 at Kosmos, has been postponed. The event, organized by MK and Werbewoche, will now take place on Thursday, May 28, at Kosmos Zurich.

Marketing-Gespraeche-mai2020

The nationwide ban on gatherings - and the care we want to show our visitors - have also prompted the editors of MK and Werbewoche to postpone the Marketing Talk planned for March 25. The event will now take place on May 28 at Kosmos Zurich.

Topic and speaker remain the same

The topic and the top-class speakers remain the same: former editor-in-chief of GQ Germany, Tom Junkersdorf, noble escort and author Salome Balthus, and Manuel Wenzel, Executive Creative Director at TBWA\Zurich, will talk about advertising as the art of seduction.

Because people want to be touched in order to buy. But what are the secret mechanisms that precede this touch? What tricks do advertisers use to draw us into the spell of consumption? And what is the view of someone who has made a profession out of playing with physical sensuality?

Live music and Apéro Riche

The whole thing will be framed by live music and a subsequent Apéro Riche. Those who have already purchased a ticket for March 25 can easily use it for the new date - and those who want to see the event for themselves or purchase a ticket can find online all information.

Press Council approves complaint against Tamedia

The Swiss Press Council has reprimanded the Tamedia publishing group on multiple occasions for disguised advertising. The newspapers *Tages-Anzeiger* and *SonntagsZeitung* had published paid promotional articles from Swisscom, Mazda, Proviande, and Genève Invest that readers could have mistaken for editorial content.

Native-Advertising

Three complaints were received against the articles, which the Press Council has now approved. This is because the Journalists' Code of Conduct stipulates that the editorial section must be strictly separated from advertising.

The full-page and double-page advertisements had a journalistic layout and were almost identical in design to editorial pages. Such forms of advertising, so-called "native advertising", are not prohibited, but they must be clearly, unambiguously, sufficiently large and clearly visible declared as advertising. This was not the case with any of the advertising contributions. According to the Press Council, readers were misled because they could not recognize the non-journalistic character of these pages at first glance.

The Press Council issued a leading decision on this form of advertising at the end of last year. At that time he reprimanded the NZZ on Sunday for an advertising site in disguise. He notes with satisfaction that awareness is growing at Tamedia with regard to the mixing of editorial content and advertising. Tamedia's quality officer noted in his 2019 quality report that there is a need for improvement, among other things, in the declaration of native ads.
