Leo Burnett Switzerland: The first marathon for cows

On behalf of Bio Suisse, Leo Burnett Switzerland, in collaboration with Xeit, is launching what is arguably the world’s most unusual marathon: the Cow Marathon. The goal is to show that organic cows have plenty of room to roam.

A total of ten cows from different Swiss regions are taking part without having to leave their own organic farm, according to the statement. Equipped with GPS transmitters, the cows graze on their pastures while the distances covered are measured. The cow that first reaches the marathon distance of 42.195 kilometers wins.

As of now you can visit Cow-marathon.ch and, with a bit of luck, become a winner yourself. Because whoever picks the winning cow will be entered into a prize draw for organic vacations. The race itself starts on May 27 and can be followed online.

Last but not least: And daily greets the marble miss

Everything is new at the Miss Switzerland pageant—including the refreshing and unburdened enthusiasm of *Blick* and *Blick Online*. Here’s a brief overview of what’s happened so far.

Not long ago, *Blick* and *Blick.ch* couldn’t wait to get the classic beauty pageant off the SRF schedule. Anyone who criticized the format was given ample space and unambiguous headlines. «The beauty pageant has no place on a publicly funded broadcaster!» the newspaper prominently quoted the Public Council as saying in September 2011. «It doesn’t get any more simplistic than this!» was the headline Blick used for reader comments, which weren’t all negative. Fabian Zürcher, then deputy head of the People section, wrote in his column on September 26, 2011—long before SRF dropped the pageant from its lineup—in a way that Mike Shiva could not have put it more precisely: «We no longer need this license-fee-funded commercial. Which isn’t to say that beauty pageants have no future. A talent show could generate more excitement and raise the profile of the contestants.».

miss-ch

On April 16, 2012, the Miss pageant era came to a temporary end: «Miss Pageant Canceled!» The accompanying online poll showed that the sense of loss at Blick was kept within manageable limits: When asked whether they would miss the beauty pageant, the only positive response—and a final dig at Leutschenbach—was: «Yes, especially host Sven Epiney.» Alternatives: «No, now I don’t have to cringe on someone else’s behalf anymore» and «I wish for world peace!» Although Blick alone published over 2,000 articles on the topic of 'Miss Switzerland« in the 2000s, there was no time for sentimentality. »This pageant should have been abolished long ago!« the editorial staff and 49 percent of the voting readership agreed the very next day.

Switzerland's Next World Peace

Reigning Miss Switzerland Alina Buchschacher had been in office for what felt like five years before it became clear what the future held for the entire Miss Switzerland pageant. As if we’d seen it coming—a sort of reality talent show on Sat 1 Switzerland. Unlike the classic Saturday night special, viewers are now also part of countless media-staged preliminary rounds. With this confusing and drawn-out process, it pays to have the right media partners: With Schweizer Illustrierte, L’Illustré, Radio Energy, and Sat 1 Switzerland—with the exception of Rouge FM and Rouge TV—it’s exclusively Ringier publications on the hunt for Switzerland’s next “world peace.” The media partners closest to viewers’ hearts were apparently included in the attractive Ringier bundle: Blick and Bilck.ch.

Unspoiled Dream Bodies and Balkan Beauties

For months now, they haven't stopped constantly rubbing the female candidates in the readers« faces. Uncritical, but persistent. A joyful announcement in February: “The beauty queens are back!»With contestant Dominique, everything will be different. The journalism student wants to make a statement with her unconventional sidecut hairstyle. Two days later, *Blick* estimates the chances that, among «six Balkan beauties,» there will be a «Miss Switzerland»I consider it to be very much a reality. The Ticino candidate Letizia Rebozzi (a.k.a. «Miss Untouched») explains why her «dream body» has so far been «just for show»—and a little later, she her first great love Alice Stark feels the same way: She, too, has a dream body—«but no one is allowed to touch it» until marriage («God protects me from sex!»). Her confession makes her even more desirable to men, which, of course, once again an article is worth.

Toned Legs and Other Priorities

Viktoria has a boyfriend who competed in the Mister pageant himself in 2012—they are undisputedly «The Most Beautiful Couple in Switzerland». Melanie loves a a teenager six years younger – yet it still challenges her intellect. Dominique and Lianna take a different approach: Their partners are at least ten years older! Janine has the measurements of a top model – But it wasn't always that way! Sara isn't just smart, she's also beautiful—and therefore «The Most Beautiful Teacher in Switzerland». Dorina the turtle dove is the girlfriend of «Soccer Fan»Taulant Xhaka. Miss contest organizer Karina Berger also stands out: This year, the Miss contestants are curvier than usual! Sandra likes to play up her charms when she shows off her jewelry—and lots of bare skin!. A real gem! With her mother's help, Dominique is running for office in shape and admits, «My legs could be more toned and firm.» If she were to win the Miss title, Snezana would even put her priorities on hold Wedding! Viktoria focuses on Municipal Mergers and, like most others, doesn't fit the dusty 1980s "Miss" stereotype (pretty but dumb) at all.

Just before the TV shows start, here are a few more vacation photos: «These beauty pageant contestants are just so cute!»And a revolutionary discovery: 13«Mini-Misses»wouldn't stand a chance as international (runway) models because of their height (about 1.70 meters)—so for once, no towering beauty with a crown!"

Miss Gray Mouse is too shy, Miss Stark is too weak

Despite the meticulous buildup, many viewers didn’t realize that the show had already started. Since there are no ratings anyway that could expose the new format as an even bigger flop, the «Miss Total» format was steadfastly maintained. The shy Anita Mustafa («Miss Gray Mouse») was the first to pack her bags—she's now focusing on her high school graduation exams. Scandal: Judge Nadine Vinzens wore a wig on the first episode («Totally crazy!») – the only criticism of the show. She and contestant Chantal used to be bullied – but now they're beaming with joy and showing it to everyone! The latter has, in the Hospital met the love of her life. Alice Stark then—despite (or thanks to) divine intervention—was, after all, too weak and was sent home. Fortunately, *Blick* favorite Dominique turned out to be «Miss Smarty-Pants»— Snezana, the wedding planner, apparently had other priorities. And so on.

It seems that at least the Blick media outlets have finally rediscovered their love for the beauty pageants. True to the motto: “I sing the song of whoever I’m covering.” We can look forward to the next stories—and to seeing whether Dominique (who stands out with her unconventional hairstyle and toned legs) really wins in the end.

Swiss Kick-Off of the Marketing Natives

The Marketing Natives community and event series was brought to Zurich by the SDV (Swiss Direct Marketing Association) in early 2013 and kicked off on May 13, 2013, with its first event in Zurich on the topic of «Creativity in Marketing.».

Marketing Natives Community was founded in Vienna in 2011 as a community for young marketing students and young professionals aged 20 to around 30. With the goal of offering young marketeers a springboard for their careers, Marketing Natives has quickly become one of the most successful marketing communities in the German-speaking world, according to a statement.

SDV President Milo Stössel is fully satisfied with the kick-off event: "An exciting event by young people for young people with a cool and great atmosphere." Nils Hafner, customer relationship marketing expert and professor at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, spoke about the balance between communication efficiency and bullshit bingo! Especially in times of shrinking budgets, efficiency and effectiveness of campaigns are becoming more and more necessary, and competition is perceived to be tougher. It is therefore important that customers not only experience and evaluate the product, but also recommend it to others - a long-term, happy customer relationship must be strived for.

According to Gordon Nemitz, Executive Strategy Director at Wirz, the secret to a successful creative campaign is courage. Too many branders ask themselves the question of feasibility as early as the campaign conception stage, thereby discarding unique ideas.

Niko Alm - "The Man with the Pasta Strainer" - also had a unique idea. When he applied for his new driver's license in 2008, he stumbled across an exemption: for religious reasons, headgear was allowed on the driver's license photo. As a follower of the "Flying Spaghetti Monster," it is therefore virtually his duty to wear a pasta strainer in official photos. The story went around the world - Der Spiegel, BBC and even CNN reported on the pastafarian. With his Austrian agency Super-fi, Alm is responsible for numerous creative online campaigns. The three pillars of a successful campaign? Reach, relevance and reputation.

High-voltage: Campaign for apprenticeship portal

A campaign by the Zurich agency Hochspannung aims to raise awareness of the Toplehrstellen.ch apprenticeship portal for building services engineering professions.

The recruitment campaign for vocational apprenticeships in building technology has been running throughout Switzerland and in three languages since the beginning of May. With a TV spot tailored to the target group, the target group (13- to 16-year-old young people) is currently being invited throughout Switzerland, both on and offline, to visit the website Top-apprenticeships.ch to visit and learn about careers in building technology and open apprenticeships.

The campaign was created and implemented by Hochspannung. In a 30-second commercial, young people are seen passionately and skillfully "rocking out" in their free time. Correspondingly, at the end of the commercial follows the resolution "Our apprentices rock." The entire commercial also features the new quality label introduced last year, "We, the building technicians." Building services planners, plumbers, ventilation system engineers, plumbers and heating engineers have been united under this label since 2012.

The spot runs on MTV, Pro7, Joiz, RTL, RTL 2, Vox, Viva and online on Wilmaa, Zattoo and Teleboy, among others. Banners and various other online measures round off the integrated overall campaign.

Radio Zürisee with new Chairman of the Board of Directors

Urs Wickihalder replaces retiring founding member Theodor Gut at the helm of Radio Zürisee's Board of Directors. TBWA CEO Matthias Kiess and Kooaba CEO Till Quack are also new members of the supervisory board.

Theodor Gut handed over the chairmanship at the general meeting on May 14 in Rüschlikon and is stepping down from the supervisory board. For 30 years, he was the central figure of Radio Zürisee, according to a statement. As a man of the first hour in 1983, the now 64-year-old put his heart and soul into building up the lakeside station. Under his leadership, Radio Zürisee received a new license for the Zurich-Glarus region at the end of 2008. As Chairman of the Board of Directors and Managing Director of Zürichsee Medien, the parent company of Radio Zürisee, Gut will continue to be associated with the lakeside station.

Urs Wickihalder is the new Chairman of the Board of Directors of Radio Zürisee. The 38-year-old lawyer from Neerach has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2007 and was unanimously elected by the General Meeting for a three-year term of office.

Matthias Kiess and Till Quack have joined the Board of Directors of Radio Zürisee. Matthias Kiess is 45 years old, lives in Oberrieden and is CEO of the TBWA agency. Franz & René: Campaign for the fire department

On Wednesday, Franz & René launched the second phase of the recruitment campaign for the Fribourg fire departments. Specifically, the campaign aims to spark young people’s interest in the fire department by appearing in unexpected places and featuring creative content.

At the same time, the surprise elements of the campaign are designed to generate discussion and lively conversation as people leave the bars. "Talented fire extinguishers interest us very much!" - with this message young people will be greeted in the urinals of over 40 bars and restaurants in the canton of Fribourg starting today. Then it starts: if the urine hits the red flame, which has been treated with a thermoactive ink, it disappears.

The launch of the first campaign in the fall of 2012 in the city of Fribourg made a big difference, according to a statement. It was the topic of conversation among the young, in the media and on social networks. The base of the city of Fribourg has been able to increase its staff and at the same time has taken a pioneering role. "It is now up to the other bases of the canton to benefit from the success of this campaign and recruit new members for the firefighting corps," explains Jean-Claude Cornu, director of the KGV, institution responsible for firefighting in the canton of Fribourg.

In addition to the thermoactive sticker in the men's restrooms, visitors to the men's and women's restrooms will find the outline of a firefighter's helmet on the mirrors above the lavabos with the text "You look hot with this helmet!". Those who are interested and have fun taking photos can stand in front of the mirror so that the helmet and the head match and quickly take a photo with their cell phone and then send it by e-mail to the address [email protected]. Until the end of June, all snapshots will be published on this page in a gallery (Fribourg-on-fire.ch) and admitted to the competition. In the first days of July, the five most original and best photos will then be selected and rewarded with two entries each to the bathing experience "Les Bains de la Gruyère in Charmey.

Aggressive credit advertising: ban demanded

Credit companies should no longer be allowed to use aggressive advertising to attract customers. The National Council's Economic Committee (Wak) is proposing a ban on aggressive advertising for small loans. However, the industry itself should define what is considered too aggressive.

In June, the committee will send the draft law out for consultation, as the parliamentary services announced on Tuesday. The committee approved the bill by 24 votes to 1. The law was initiated by a parliamentary initiative from National Councillor Josiane Aubert (SP/VD). She fears that people will be tempted by the advertising lure of credit companies to take out a loan that they cannot afford and which could drive them into a spiral of debt. Ultimately, the general public would have to pay for the consequences.

The proposed solution, to which the industry contributed, provides for self-regulation. A convention of the credit industry is to define what type of advertising is considered non-aggressive and therefore permitted. If no agreement is reached, the Federal Council can regulate which advertising is too aggressive.

The Wak also wants to tighten up the creditworthiness check. However, it rejected the idea of including express loans under the Consumer Credit Act. The Wak rejected the demand to finance national prevention programs against youth debt with a sales tax on credit companies. It recommended by 14 votes to seven with three abstentions that a parliamentary initiative by Hugues Hiltpold (FDP/GE) be written off. The Wak stated that there was no need for the cantons to coordinate prevention through the federal government. (SDA)
