Ombudsman criticizes SRF sports report

SRG ombudsman Achille Casanova has upheld complaints against SRF's reporting. The television station had played canned fan chants in the "Sportpanorama" program. This was despite the fact that the fans had remained silent at the start of the match in protest.

For Casanova, the recording of the fan chants is "more than a gross journalistic blunder". The viewers had been misled. This is particularly serious because the fan protest had a political background, writes the ombudsman in his online report, which was reported by various media on Wednesday.

At the football match between GC and FC Zurich on May 12, the fans of both teams demonstrated against the Hooligan Concordat with a joint action. There was no fan chanting during the first 10 minutes of the match. In the "Sportpanorama" program, however, the producers played fan chants from the archive over the silence of the opening phase. Some viewers objected to this and complained to the TV ombudsman. "We are entitled to truthful reporting," the complaint stated.

In retrospect, the SRF sports editorial team apologized and admitted that it had made a mistake. In his statement to the ombudsman, program officer Nök Ledergerber stated that it had never been the intention to depict reality incorrectly. In the "Sportpanorama", the sound of the teams marching in had been corrected "for creative reasons" during editing. In the live broadcast, however, the fan protest was reported "cautiously".

For Casanova, however, the apology is not enough. He welcomes the fact that the case has been used as an opportunity to sensitize the entire sports department to how such issues should be reported. "It would certainly be interesting for SRF's audience to find out what conclusions were drawn from this embarrassing mishap and how such events should be reported in future," the final report states. Last but not least: Redbull not only gives you wings

A Red Bull domino sequence goes something like this: A skydiver lands, marbles start rolling, gears turn, race cars careen around, guns are fired, and sprinters take off. And at the end, there’s a can of Red Bull, encased in ice.

But that's not a problem, because after all, the whole domino was just for the purpose of knocking the can out of the ice with a pick anyway:

Funny. The only thing missing from this video is the final sentence: In an emergency, a fridge will do. (uma)

SDV Marketing Natives: "Experiential Marketing

Since Marketing Natives was brought to Switzerland by the SDV (Swiss Direct Marketing Association) in January 2013, over 220 marketing enthusiasts have registered. Last Monday, the community met to discuss «experiential marketing.».

The community and event series brings marketing students and young professionals together with industry experts at six annual events. At the second event last Monday, about 120 marketing natives were in attendance as the four international speakers shared their experiences and stories:

Manuela Brunner, Group Account Manager at Serviceplan Suisse, introduced the topic. For her, one thing is essential in experiential marketing in order not to get lost in the crowd: A creative idea. With inspiring campaigns, Brunner presented the five criteria that make this idea successful in the first place. But what has changed in recent years? Advertising has to be adapted to the changing use of media, but the story has remained the same.

As experts in storytelling, the Marketing Natives invited Ali Mahlodji, founder and chief storyteller of Whatchado. Mahlodji had a dream: He wanted to create a handbook for life stories. So in 2011, he started asking the same seven questions to a wide variety of people. Whether subway riders or German presidents, he and his team have since interviewed over 1'400 people. Users of the web portal who identify with the story can apply directly for similar jobs.

However, successful ideas also often arise by chance, so Matt Cashmore, Digital Director at Blackwell's in London. We have the Hilton ducks, for example, to thank for a special offer on rubber ducks. Cashmore developed another "gimmick" during his time at the BBC. For example, elements of the British TV series "Spinal Tab" were incorporated into the website of "The Voice UK.

Successful marketing through gaming - that is the approach of Gabe McIntyre. The Dutchman describes himself as a college professor, game designer, digital artist and dudeist priest. Using examples from Ben & Jerry's, Domino's and Coca Cola, MacIntyre demonstrated the importance of Feedback Loop and Recruitment Factor. During his presentation, he raffled off tickets for his workshop "The Game Beyond", which will also take place in Zurich in the fall and is designed to give participants an even better understanding of the systematics of gaming in marketing.

The next Marketing Natives event will take place on September 9, 2013 on the topic of "Marketing CEOs. Group CEOs tell Marketing Natives about their career, their path to top management and describe their everyday life on the top floor. In addition to tips and tricks for their own careers, guests will gain a personal insight into life at board level.

Marketing Natives Switzerland

The Marketing Natives community brings together international marketing professionals and marketing students in a vibrant community under the care of the SDV Swiss Dialog Marketing Association. The offering includes six major marketing events per year in Zurich with international marketing speakers, accredited marketing qualifications and ongoing marketing job opportunities for community members. Since its founding in January 2011, Marketing Natives has become the successful community for young marketing professionals in the German-speaking world. Marketing Natives is represented in Vienna (under the care of DMVÖ) in Hamburg (supported by DDV) and in Switzerland (powered by SDV).

3.2 million against 1

Spinas Civil Voices has designed a new campaign for Amnesty International. The campaign features three of the most notorious tyrants of modern times.

"Even though perhaps the greatest despots of modern times, Muammar Gadaffi and Saddam Hussein, are dead, there are still enough despots of violence who terrify the world and especially their people and flout any human rights," the agency says. For Amnesty International, the agency has now staged three of them in a new print campaign. In a striking way, the pictures show that one is by no means powerless as an individual, but together with 3.2 million other people is very well able to bring down even a powerful opponent. Respectively before the UN war crimes tribunal - like Ratko Mladic, for example.

Responsible at Spina's Civil Voices: Stephan Huwiler and Matthias Freuler (creati-on), Corinne Bucher (consulting), Vera Schmid (art buying), Staudinger + Franke (photography/image editing), Lorenz Spinas (overall responsibility).

Eclat develops new appearance for Swissuniversities

Eclat has developed the brand identity for Swissuniversitites in recent months. The new university policy body is to become a brand with charisma.

By 2015, according to a federal decree, the rectors' conferences of the universities, the universities of applied sciences and the universities of teacher education must be merged into a single institution. To prepare for this integration, the association Swissuniversities was founded last November. From 2015, the brand will then also represent the new Rectors' Conference of Swiss Universities. The committee of Swissuniversities had chosen Eclat in a competition at the beginning of the year.

Just in time for the board meeting on June 12, 2013, the corporate design of Swissuniversities is introduced only four months after the project start: With all letterheads, office templates, the building signage and with an informative website, also optimized for output on mobile devices. The logo is a simple word mark, which is to become a strong statement with four exclamation marks through a small intervention - the fourfold reversed spelling of the letter "i": Study, teach and research in Switzerland as a statement of first-class education in a very special environment. By choosing "Swiss red" as its logo color, Swissuniversities wants to send a clear signal of its origins on the international stage.

"Each board member interpreted the logo proposal differently, but all felt spontaneously addressed and unanimously recognized commitment and movement!" says Mathias Stauffacher, Secretary General of Swissuniversities. "The appearance is - as we wanted - simple and at the same time self-confidently dynamic."

Responsible at Swissuniversities: Mathias Stauffacher (Secretary General), Maja Bütikofer (Communications). Responsible at Eclat: Janine Widler (consulting and project management), Hanna Hor-warth (design), Tobias Rechsteiner (web design). Programming: Daniel Gäumann (web goods).

Webguerillas: Orange leaves saying no to the others

Orange has put people at the center of its new communication platform. The Web Guerrillas have embodied the new «spirit» on the web.

Behind "You can" is more than just advertising, it is the new attitude of the company, which makes everything possible for its customers, the agency said in a press release on Wednesday. The care platform focuses on the telecommunications company's "service excellence". Here, too, Orange says "You can" as often as possible - whether for product-related questions such as "You want us to configure your cell phone for you?" or for pure infotainment topics such as "You want to take your pulse with your smartphone?". And with the "Orange Prize Shuffle" app, Orange fans can choose their own prize themselves.

A new YouTube channel and a broad-based banner campaign complement the current advertising measures. Both a digital and a printed "playbook" were created for internal communication. The aim is to present Orange's new philosophy to employees in a playful way.

Since March, the telecommunications provider has been managed directly by the Zurich agency Webguerillas.

Responsible at Orange: Sabine Kuszli (Manager Online & Customer Communications), Patrick Römer (Online Communications Manager), Christoph Karcher (Social Media Specialist). Responsible at Webguerillas: Dino Ceccato (overall responsibility), Tatjana Meichtry, Isabel Hüther (consulting), Conrad Malcher (CD), Daniel Gremli, Ennio Cadau (concept/text), Richard Wegele, Michelle Danilschenko (art direction), Dominique Lauber (social media), Michael Kohlbach (technical consulting).
