On Monday, at an international conference on information and exchange in Bern, the Federal Office of Culture (FOC) will present the new website on Nazi-looted art and provenance research at the Zentrum Paul Klee.

The Swiss Confederation is thus making a further contribution to the implementation of the 1998 guidelines of the Washington Conference with regard to works of art confiscated by the Nazis. In doing so, it is reaffirming the great importance it attaches to coming to terms with the problem of Nazi looted art.
The new looted art internet portal Bak.admin.ch/rk of the Federal Office of Culture is the result of cooperation between the Federal Office of Culture (Looted Art Focal Point), the General Secretariat of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA Historical Service) and the Federal Conference of Cantonal Ministers of Education, the Association of Swiss Museums and the Association of Swiss Art Museums.
Help for self-help
The looted art internet portal offers a range of information on the topic of Nazi looted art, such as a guide and checklist for conducting provenance research, an overview of relevant archive holdings and factors for achieving just and fair solutions. The offer is complemented by literature suggestions, an annotated link list, an overview of databases relevant to Nazi looted art. In the future, the looted art internet portal will thus support museums and collections in the sense of "helping them to help themselves" in carrying out provenance research.
Implementation of the Washington Guidelines
The deepening of provenance research is an important step in the implementation of the guidelines of the Washington Conference regarding works of art confiscated by the Nazis. The Swiss Confederation adopted this non-binding declaration of intent in Washington in 1998 together with another 43 states, thereby declaring that it attaches great importance to coming to terms with the problem of Nazi looted art.
Program of the international conference
The morning of the information and exchange conference is dedicated to the international level of Nazi looted art and provenance research. State representatives from Germany and France, representatives from the university sector and representatives from the international art market will give an overview of the work regarding the topic of Nazi looted art and provenance research from their area.
The afternoon will focus on the presentation of the new Internet portal on looted art of the Federal Office of Culture. In addition to an overview of the federal government's handling of Nazi looted art and provenance research, an important provenance research project of the Museum Rietberg on the von der Heydt collection will be presented. Finally, in a concluding table ronde, actors from the museum sector, a lawyer representing museums, a historian and representatives of claimants will discuss the current state and future challenges of dealing with looted art.

Oxford English Dictionary: Twitter gets its own verb
The online network Twitter now has its own entry in the Oxford English Dictionary, a major dictionary of the English language. The entry for the word «tweet» has been expanded, the dictionary’s editor-in-chief announced.
Editorial
-
June 17, 2013
According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the verb now means "to make an entry on the social network Twitter" or "to use Twitter regularly". Previously, the Oxford English Dictionary only listed the original meaning of "tweet": to twitter, i.e. the acoustic communication of birds. Twitter is not the first internet service to be given its own verb in the renowned dictionary. Google" ("to google") was entered as a verb back in 2006.
Tweeting in the dictionary
You can also look up Twitter activity in the Duden dictionary: the Germanized version "twittern" has been there since 2009. However, the Duden dictionary defines the word generally as "sending and receiving short messages via the Internet". For a new word to be included in the Duden dictionary, it must be in common use, i.e. appear regularly in various media. It should also appear over a certain period of time, the Duden explains on its website.
In principle, this also applies to the Oxford English Dictionary. The new entry on Twitter "breaks at least one rule, namely that a new word must be in use for at least ten years", wrote the editor-in-chief. "But it seems to be going viral." The dictionary included a number of words from the technology sector this year, including "big data" for very large amounts of data and "crowdsourcing" for collecting information from many people on the internet. Grandiose top athletes from Eastern Switzerland
Agentur am Flughafen from Altenrhein were not only able to take the best memories of a successful event back to Lake Constance after this year's Award Night, but also sports bags filled with medals: with eleven medals and three certificates, they lead the medal table by a clear margin. They were followed by the team from Y&R with five medals and the dialog marketing competitors from Maxomedia and Wunderman Germany with two medals each.
The medal table is based on a points system, for example a gold medal is worth four points and a silver medal three points. The complete medal table 2013:

Skiwaxbrief goes platinum, Heks scores points in the crawl
The "Skiwaxbrief" campaign, which was created for Pitsch Sport in Gossau, was awarded the platinum prize (best annual performance) sponsored by Swiss Post. There was also triumphant joy among the winners of the "Non-Profit-Kraul" - the "Personal Unloading for VIPs" campaign by Heks (Hilfswerk der Evangelischen Kirchen Schweiz) was rewarded by the jury with the special prize for non-profit organizations.
We can be Heroes
David Bowie sang "We can be heroes just for a day" in his legendary hit "Heroes" - the winners of the SDV Junior Award 2013, Jumana Issa and Nicola Spicher, will be able to act as heroes for much longer and offer the entire Swiss dialog marketing scene the opportunity to become heroes themselves. As is tradition, the work awarded by the jury in this category will serve as the theme for the next Swiss Dialog Marketing Award. We can therefore expect another surprising and exciting production next year.
Excellently staged Award Night
Sporty, breathtaking, fast-paced and hip - these are the adjectives that best describe the recent Award Night. The highlight of the Swiss Dialog Marketing Award 2013 was perfectly staged, from the first moment of the final event to the last minute. Dressed as athletes from different nations, the breakdance troupe Roc Kidz from Switzerland and southern Germany opened the Award Night with the symbolic lighting of the Olympic flame. Later, as the finale of the evening, they impressed the dialog marketing celebrities gathered in the Kongresshaus with an explosive breakdance show. But it wasn't just on the stage, but also in the lofty heights that things really took off: the internationally renowned suspender and equilibristic artist Slava Popov took the breath away from the dialog marketing scene, which is not usually considered squeamish - his powerful show, combined with an elegant appearance, drew thunderous applause. The culinary side of the evening also ensured a good atmosphere, and those who didn't hurry home early were able to round off the award night at the Swiss Post after-dinner party.
Olympia on the move
The finalists and the winning entries for the 2013 Swiss Dialog Marketing Prize are now going on tour and can be booked for a traveling exhibition or ordered from the SDV Swiss Dialog Marketing Association for educational purposes, for example.

Last but not least: La Cola Nostra
Ever since Coca-Cola introduced personalized bottles, Werbewoche.ch has increasingly become a gathering place for desperate seekers. A midterm assessment.
Editorial
-
June 16, 2013
The idea is as simple as it is ingenious: Coke bottles with names on them. As part of the "Share a Coke" campaign, Coca-Cola is not only offering personalized cans (which can be produced on certain occasions), but is also flooding the retail trade with bottles bearing any name.
You realize what makes the campaign so fascinating when you stand in front of the shelf for the first time: You certainly won't find your own name - but at least you should be able to find a souvenir for a loved one, right? In well-frequented supermarkets, the Coke baskets are characterized by the fact that the bottles - searched x-times - are arranged in military perfection and the names all face in one direction:
Photo: hae/Wewo
For experienced name hunters, the search process is completed within seconds. Not only Ivan and Camille, but also Sandro, Matthias and Chantal would find what they were looking for in this basket. Incidentally, in this Coop store it is noticeable that, in addition to the original, Coca-Cola Zero is also popular as a name carrier - but not Diet Coke:
Photo: hae/Wewo
Independent observations by malicious tongues have also revealed that the majority of names on Coke Light bottles are women's names - something the drinks manufacturer would surely deny (just as Panini consistently denies that the coveted players are put into circulation less frequently, while the market is flooded with "unattractive" teams).
However - since Werbwoche.ch reported on the campaignthe site is flooded with name requests. After all, we are used to quite a lot, as we regularly receive requests via the comment function. Newspaper subscriptions canceled or applications for Blick am Abend sections submitted (we forward everything). However, this Coke story sets new standards - the more comments are placed, the more convinced the followers are to deposit their name request in the right place. No, it's not the right place. The friendly lady from Coca-Cola assured us that we could forward e-mails with name requests to her, even though she herself would be inundated with them. But comments without a sender are difficult to process. So that the many people have not made the effort in vain, here is a list of requested names:
- Sarah - Michèle - Armin - Hajo - Brian - Lorena - Christiane - Ricarda - Rikki - Naomi - Jessica - Denny's - Christina - Andrea - Ryan - André - Aretha - Joline - Ivana - Albin - Joel - Angeline - Emely - Manuel - Ciril - Melissa - Veronica - Valpi - Nena - Ersin - Johanna - Mona - Svenja - Medina - Muki - Stanislaus - Satawat - Jessy - Chregi - Jay Villas - Mia - Samantha - Cordelia - Dercy - Olivia - Simon - Brenda - Sandra - Philippe - Ejup - Mergime - Arijona - Kira - Julius - Samira - Ajka - Edina - Edin - Ermira - Francesco - Steven - Jamie Lee - Azem - Andjelo - Gzim - Memli - Ossi - Veronica - Fahrije - Carina - Yagii - Noëmi - Petra - Anil - Müberra - Mary - Leila - Alizia - Lucia - Baris - Tamara - Samira - Paolo - Isabel
That doesn't help much, of course, but it's good for our online karma. The names alone are probably of little use. Contact details would be better - sent directly to Coca-Cola (Link to the contact form). The friendly lady in question let it be known that they wanted to take care of the desperate. Which brings even more: Here you can find a list of events where you can have your own personal Coke can made. A can is cooler than a PET bottle anyway. And more durable. And more timeless. Which doesn't mean that I'm going to push the shopping cart past my name bottle without doing anything. The Coca-Cola representative assured me that my name is there. No wonder, after all, every second person in my age group is called that... which probably doesn't make it any easier to get hold of a bottle. Happy hunting everyone!

Saatchi & Saatchi: Children's laughter wins CSR award
Saatchi & Saatchi's awareness campaign for Swisscom Mobile Aid won the 2013 German Business Communication Award in the «Best Corporate Social Responsibility Communication» category.

The "Golden Spark" award has been recognizing renowned companies in German-speaking countries for 13 years. The motto "Old cell phones for a new child's laughter", developed by Saatchi & Saatchi, has sustainably activated Switzerland (Werbewoche.ch reported). At the award ceremony in Berlin, the Swiss winning entry was met with great applause, according to a statement.
The goal of collecting more than 100,000 old cell phones was exceeded. At Judgment of the jury: "The campaign reached the Swiss population through the versatility of the actions and coordinated phases of implementation." The biggest winners were the 1,000 children of the SOS Children's Village, who were supported by the proceeds of the campaign.
Goldbach founds Swiss Radioworld
The Board of Directors of Goldbach Media has approved the establishment of Swiss Radioworld. As a result, Goldbach Media's radio unit will become an independent marketing company based in Wollishofen ZH.
Editorial
-
June 16, 2013
There, as of July 1, 2013, Goldbach Interactive Zurich with Mobile and Wilmaa, in which the Goldbach Group holds a majority stake, with Wilmaa Digital World and Swiss Radioworld will be represented under one roof.
The foundation of Swiss Radioworld is intended to bundle the expertise that Goldbach Media has acquired to date as the marketer of all private radio stations in Switzerland and to take account of the growth potential of the radio genre, according to a statement. This is because the radio market is constantly evolving; new inventory is constantly being created that generates added value and more impact for the radio advertising franc. "For this reason, and so that radio marketing can be viewed in a focused manner, further expanded and staffed, our shareholders have approved the establishment of a separate AG. Goldbach is closely linked to the genre of radio because of its corporate history," explains Alexander Duphorn, CEO of Goldbach Media Switzerland.
For the employees of the previous radio unit, only the place of work and the formal employer will change as of July 1, 2013; in terms of function and remuneration, the employment relationship will remain unchanged. Marcel Bosshard, Director Corporate Marketing Goldbach Group, who is responsible for the move, adds: "We not only want to deliver top performance as a service provider to broadcasters, customers and partners, but also offer our employees an optimal working environment. We have now succeeded in doing so with the new workplaces at Wollishofen station, which, like in Küsnacht, are located directly on the lake."

Kachelmann rages against colleagues
A coming record heatwave? Jörg Kachelmann speaks on Twitter of «full-post journalism» and specifies in the newspaper Schweiz am Sonntag.

June 16, 2013
The 54-year-old meteorologist does not give his professional colleagues a good report card. Especially in the German media, with forecasts of up to 39 degrees and "African heat waves," Kachelmann said on his website that they were practicing "full-blown journalism. Twitter channel. He told Schweiz am Sonntag that he did not know whether it was a matter of "dubious weather people telling robber stories" or "dubious media people who get media-hungry weather people to claim nonsense". Although at certain altitudes the air is getting warmer than it has been for 70 years, the announced temperatures are hardly possible due to various meteorological factors - in the end, "the stupid weather people and newspapers" would "gloss over their nonsense" with the perceived temperature, Kachelmann said. Also to long-term forecasts can be said today about Youtube and Twitter - no one knows how the whole summer will turn out. All forecasts in this direction are "pure gugus". (hae/SaS).

Coop introduces digital couponing
Coop vouchers can now also be activated by customers online or in the corresponding app and saved on the Supercard. This eliminates the need to print out or cut out coupons.

The activated vouchers will be redeemed automatically the next time the Supercard is presented, as Coop announced in a press release. Before all Supercard customers can use the digital vouchers, the new function will initially be available exclusively to all Hello Family Club customers. They will no longer have to cut out or print out vouchers, but save them directly on their Hello Family Supercard. The next time they shop, Hello Family customers will automatically benefit from the discounts by showing their Hello Family Supercard (or the Supercard barcode in the new Hello Family iApp). The iApp is available to download from the Apple App Store; an Android version will be released soon.
Coop wants to make itself fit for the mobile digital future with digital receipts. Now that the Supercard barcode can be scanned directly from the Supercard iApp, Coop is taking a new approach to couponing: Coop is linking the Supercard as a carrier medium with the web and smartphone as activation channels for the digital vouchers, thereby increasing the attractiveness of the Supercard.
