Glasswork: Mysterious mailing

A wooden chest locked with a combination lock, with no sender listed: Glaswerk created a mysterious mailing for Oniko, a recruitment and staffing agency based in Aargau, that piqued the recipients’ curiosity.

The addressees could only reveal the secret and pick the lock with the help of a code hidden on a personalized microsite. The Baden-based full-service agency is positioning Oniko as an innovative and competent partner in human resources with this successful campaign with a high response rate, according to a press release.

Responsible at Oniko: Eric Youssouffian (Managing Director), Karin Youssoufian (Executive Board), Adrian Burch (Executive Board). Responsible at Glaswerk: Tobias Gläser (Consulting & Conception), Jakob Schiratzki (Art Direction), Melanie Müller (Junior Consulting & Text), Anja Grob (Junior Art Direction), Daniel de Souza (Web Design & Publishing).

Not everything that looks like Apple comes from Apple. A women's shelter could be behind what appears to be an iPhone commercial.

Even if technology is developing rapidly, the social problems remain the same. That is why women's shelters, for example, will always be needed. Women's shelters like the Interval House in Toronto, which has been offering protection to abused women and children for 40 years. And agencies like Union, which communicate the messages of charities and organizations in a way that everyone understands. (hae)

Mörgeli goes on the offensive in the "Rundschau" dispute

The dispute between Christoph Mörgeli and Swiss Radio and Television (SRF) over the «Rundschau» report is entering the next phase. The Zurich National Council member plans to send SRF documents that he claims prove the report was handled improperly.

An expert report and other documents are to substantiate Mörgeli's earlier statements. He will send the documents to SRF "soon", said the SVP National Councillor. On Monday, he confirmed a corresponding report by Sonntagsblick at the request of the SDA news agency. Mörgeli's criticism is aimed in particular at an anonymously quoted witness, who in
had made accusations against him in the "Rundschau" newspaper. Mörgeli had already complained in April that he had not submitted a doctoral thesis to him.

The "Rundschau" always denied this. Now Mörgeli presents a twelve-page expert report by the German anthropologist Friedrich Wilhelm Rösing, which is supposed to substantiate his statement. The expert opinion comes to the conclusion that the witness shown on television as a shadowy image and the man named by Mörgeli, who had not completed his doctoral thesis, are "very probably identical", as Mörgeli confirmed on request. The images of the two men were compared for the expert opinion.

Mörgeli also complained that a second witness had not been quoted correctly. This accusation was also rejected by the "Rundschau". Mörgeli now wants to prove his statement with a written confirmation from the doctoral student's lawyer. It states that the witness was misunderstood.

Doubts "downright grotesque"

"Rundschau" editorial director Mario Poletti once again rejected the accusations in a statement published in Sonntagsblick. The renewed doubts expressed about the "key witness" were "downright grotesque". At the end of March, "Rundschau" had accused Mörgeli of having waved through numerous unscientific doctoral theses and thus not properly fulfilling his function as "doctoral supervisor". Mörgeli then lodged a complaint with the SRG ombudsman. The ombudsman rejected two complaints from the SVP National Councillor; he partially approved a third complaint from a follow-up broadcast (Werbewoche.ch reported). (SDA)

Ulmann+Partner Dialog: Mailing for AZ Direct

AZ Direct analyzes and refines customer data. Ulmann+Partner Dialog has therefore created a similarly refined mailing campaign targeted at CRM decision-makers.

Companies look after their customers, but forgo further steps in data analysis and maintenance. Potential remains hidden, according to a press release. This is precisely where AZ Direct's aCRM service comes in: customer data is analyzed and refined.

Customer data is like coffee beans. They only develop their full potential through refinement. CRM decision-makers receive a two-stage mailing. In the first stage, raw coffee beans of the best quality are sent anonymously. The second stage reveals the sender and establishes a communicative link between the coffee and the offer. The mailing contains finely roasted coffee beans. The aroma and taste are evidence of the highest quality refinement. What applies to coffee also applies to customer data. Only when this is processed correctly does the company recognize its full potential - and can exploit it accordingly.

AZ Direct positions itself in the core target group as a service provider in analytical CRM. Concept and realization by Ulmann+Partner Dialog.

NZZ Media Group relies on Xentive

Xentive has added the NZZ Media Group to its client roster. Following Publicitas, this marks another major media company opting for Mediaspectrum’s system solution and highly automated ad processing.

In future, the NZZ Media Group will outsource its ad management system and certain back-office services to Xentive and use Mediaspectrum's leading technology for multi-channel advertising. The NZZ Media Group will migrate to the new system in 2015. The implementation will seamlessly link sales, production, processing and billing of multi-channel advertising solutions on a single platform, thereby massively increasing automation.

After Publicitas, which will use the system worldwide from 2014, the NZZ Media Group in Switzerland is the second major media company to opt for this software and for Xentive as its BPO partner. Christian Rohrbach, CEO Xentive: "We are delighted to have won the NZZ media group for our system solution. We are convinced that our service offering will significantly optimize operating costs in the area of advertising management."

Publigroupe announced on July 12, 2013 that it is selling 51% of Xentive to Boston-based Mediaspectrum, which provides software solutions for the management of multi-channel advertising sales, production and content management (Werbewoche.ch reported). The sale is subject to approval by the Swiss Competition Commission (ComCo).

Xentive's business process outsourcing services will in future be based on the new Mediaspectrum platform. By using Xentive's services, media companies can easily switch to an established and proven platform for ad management without having to make significant investments or incur maintenance and development costs, according to the press release.

The name "Thalia" is to disappear

The name «Thalia» is set to gradually disappear from the Swiss book retail market and be replaced by the brand name Orell Füssli. The joint venture between Thalia and the Zurich-based trade and industrial group was announced in early March.

Thalia points out that established names should not disappear: The bookstores Stauffacher in Bern and Rösslitor in St. Gallen are regionally well anchored and should be allowed to keep their appearance, a spokesman for Thalia Bücher told the news agency SDA on Monday.

The company confirmed information published in the newspaper Schweiz am Sonntag the previous day. The joint venture Orell Füssli Thalia (OFT) is expected to start operations in the fall.
Orell Füssli and Thalia Holding, which in turn belongs to the German Douglas retail group, caused a stir in March with their joint venture. One reason for the merger is the strong competition from the Internet. Both partners hold 50 percent of the joint venture. The 14 Orell Füssli stores generated sales of 110 million Swiss francs last year, while the 22 Thalia stores brought in 131 million Swiss francs. Together, the companies achieve a dominant position in Swiss book sales.

Job cuts

The spokesman confirmed to SDA information from March according to which there will be job cuts. Over the next year and a half, 40 to 50 jobs are expected to be eliminated. There will be synergies in logistics, marketing and IT. Logistics and purchasing would be merged. Thalia has 650 employees, according to March figures, while Orell Füssli has 400 employees. (SDA)

Last but not least: And emancipation greets us daily

While women lounge on posters in skimpy scraps of fabric and «show off cars» at auto shows, it’s almost impossible to produce a commercial featuring women without at least a few emancipated women sensing discrimination.

For example, ZDF is currently advertising its live broadcasts of the European Women's Football Championship with the slogan "Balls clean in Sweden". However, many viewers are now accusing the broadcaster of sexism and discrimination against women. As Horizont.net writes, a veritable shitstorm is brewing on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter (To the article).

Of course, the commercial is daring. Because it's not set on a football pitch, but in a laundry room. Heaven help us, there's a cliché looming! And there's more: a female footballer in the kit of the German national team gives viewers a taste of her ball skills and then sinks the ball directly into the washing drum. The round leather is washed - in the leather wash cycle, of course. A female voice comments off-screen: "Ball clean in Sweden. The Uefa Women's European Championship 2013, from July 10 on ZDF".

Not exactly kosher, you could say. Or simply a game with a common cliché, just provocative enough to give women's football, which is still too unpopular, the attention it deserves. (uma)
