Yourposition appoints ex-Googler to the Board of Directors

Yourposition has been operating as a public limited company since the end of June. In addition to four of the five co-owners, Beat Bühlmann, formerly Industry Leader at Google Switzerland, has also joined the Board of Directors. Yves Schebesta, another ex-Googler, is also taking over the management of the Adwords team.

"The change of name is a consequence of our continued strong growth", says Lukas Stuber, Co-Managing Director of the Zurich-based agency for search engine marketing, analytics and digital marketing consulting, which was founded in 2003 and now employs 30 people and is constantly recruiting additional staff. "Demand in the search and analytics market continues to rise. We have also continuously expanded our consulting services in order to offer our customers a comprehensive digital marketing service. So the success story continues, and the establishment of a public limited company now also ensures this structurally."

Roger Schnider as Chairman of the Board of Directors

Yourposition has opted for a consistent division of responsibilities: Roger Schnider, co-owner and one of the company's founders in 2003, will take over as Chairman of the Board of Directors, while Lukas Stuber and Beat Muttenzer will continue to manage the company as before and will also sit on the Board of Directors.

The committee is completed by Simon Häusermann, formerly of Geschenkidee.ch, and Beat Bühlmann, formerly Industry Leader at Google Switzerland and Google UK, currently Managing Director, Global Product Development at HULT International Business School.

Yves Schebesta is the new head of the Adwords team

At the same time, there will also be a change in middle management at Yourposition: The previous head of the 12-strong Adwords team, Andrea Malele, is taking maternity leave. "Andrea Malele has done an excellent job of setting up our Adwords department over the past two years. We would like to thank her for her great commitment and are pleased that she will remain with Yourposition in a different role after her leave," comments Stuber on the change. Yves Schebesta, Senior Account Manager at Google Switzerland until 2011 and most recently Performance Marketing Manager at Interhome, will take over her position.

Adicto serves fresh brand for the plant 1

What began as an industrial building in Gossau around 1900 will become a cultural and economic hub in 2014 with the opening of the new restaurant, Werk 1. The Adicto agency is developing the perfect brand to go with it.

Less than a five-minute walk from the Gossau train station, in the residential and industrial area of the town, is a venerable brick building. Formerly the Happy mattress factory, the building has developed into a cultural and economic center. In addition to the Gossau Public Library, the new Raiffeisen Entrepreneur Center (RUZ) and various smaller businesses, the building also houses the Werk 1 restaurant.

The restaurant opened its doors in June 2014 and, in addition to the special ambience, offers modern Swiss cuisine, its own wine cellar and large, bright rooms for occasions and events. For this purpose, in addition to the daytime and dining restaurant, there is also a smokers' lounge, a large terrace, a seminar room with 25 seats and a hall for 250 people available on 1,200 square meters. One brand

In consultation with the owner and in close cooperation with tenant Thomas Breitenmoser, Adicto pursued the intention of integrating the striking industrial building at Fabrikstrasse 7 into its urban surroundings as a brand image. Based on "Art Nouveau", a modernized typeface was developed for the restaurant's brand identity as well as for the building's signaling. This is also used in the corporate design of the restaurant. Anyone walking through the premises or leafing through the menus will come across Werk 1's distinctive brand font again and again.

A member of the Enjoyment Union

Werk 1 is a member of Genuss Union and is specifically committed to long-term quality assurance in the catering industry in eastern Switzerland. Genuss Union already operates a very well-known restaurant in the region, the "Henessenmühle" in Gossau. Genuss Union's range of services includes operational management, training and further education, coaching of young companies, quality management as well as marketing and communication activities. Here, too, Adicto was responsible for the complete brand launch - from name finding to brand strategy and positioning to design implementation.

New agency specializing in cross-media PR

In addition to traditional communication disciplines, Martin Radtke Kommunikation supports and advises companies on how to systematically link and integrate their digital and print communications.

Many companies use social platforms for dialog with their customers, suppliers and stakeholders. However, there is often a gap between the old and new communication channels. "There is a lot of untapped potential here," says Martin Radtke. If you link communication channels and content cleverly, you can make your communication more effective and, above all, more efficient. Martin Radtke Kommunikation supports companies with analyses, the development of channel architecture through to the conception, realignment and systematic networking of the various communication channels. The agency also advises companies in classic communication disciplines such as media relations, internal communication, external communication, corporate publishing, etc.

Martin Radtke, 47, worked at SBB Cargo until the end of 2013. There he built up the cross-media team, developed cross-media strategies for the company and implemented them. He wrote his master's thesis on "Cross-media PR in corporate communications" in 2014. Before joining Güterbahn, Martin Radtke held management positions in various companies and institutions on both the corporate and agency side, for example as Head of Communications at the Canton of Zurich's Department of Construction.

New Editor-in-Chief at Women in Business

Effective July 1, 2014, Zurich-based journalist Yvonne Zurbrügg took over as editor-in-chief of *Women in Business*, the Swiss business magazine aimed specifically at women, succeeding Sabine Hauptmann, who has left the company.

The 29-year-old Yvonne Zurbrügg can already look back on ten successful years in journalism and has worked at Gossweiler Media, Tages-Anzeiger's NEWS and the commuter newspaper 20 Minuten, among others. Most recently, she was deputy head of entertainment and head of the "People" department at Schweizer Illustrierte. Her special achievements were recognized at the beginning of the year: The magazine Schweizer Journalist voted Yvonne Zurbrügg, who originally comes from the Bernese Oberland, one of the top 5 young Swiss journalists.

"We are proud that we have been able to recruit Yvonne Zurbrügg, an accomplished journalist and experienced editorial director, to lead Women in Business. Together, we want to position the magazine and the associated talk series even more strongly in the market over the next few months and improve the concept in one or two areas," says publisher Daniel Kaczynski. The first issue under the direction of Yvonne Zurbrügg will be published in September.

Last but not least: When apps create more problems than they solve

In the search for the next super business idea, the start-up scene on the American West Coast is becoming increasingly strange. Last week, Reservation Hop came onto the scene and immediately caused some irritation.

There, as here, it is difficult to reserve a table at the trendy restaurants, especially at short notice. The killer solution from Reservation HopThe company itself makes reservations at popular sites and sells them to the highest bidder. After payment, the buyer is informed of the name under which the reservation was made. If no buyer is found, the company itself cancels the reservation in good time so that the landlord suffers no loss.

claimed

As there was a lull in the news on the American national holiday on July 4, the launch of Reservation Hop was particularly noticeable - but the comments on Twitter and the web were mainly negative, sometimes even hostile. Start-ups need to be able to react quickly if the business idea doesn't take off. Whereas last week the motto was: "We make reservations in the hottest restaurants in advance so you don't have to", now it's: "Buy and sell reservations in the hottest restaurants" - it's no longer the company but the public that should be able to sell their no longer needed reservations via the site.

However, Reservation Hop is one of a number of similar apps that landlords use to fill vacancies at short notice. The climate for such business ideas has been particularly unfavorable in San Francisco since Paolo Dobrowolny from Rome founded the Monkeyparking app had launched. Anyone who vacates a parking space will be able to sell it to the next parker shortly beforehand for good money. And anyone urgently looking for a place to stay for their own four wheels can publish offers via the app. Geolocalization via the GPS receivers built into smartphones makes such gimmicks possible.

While initial tests in Rome were apparently unobtrusive, in San Francisco the app not only provoked the displeasure of the public, but also of politicians. The city set a deadline of July 11 for the app, which aims to make money from public goods, to disappear from the market. Both apps respond to problems that also exist here. So it will be interesting to see when copycat products will be launched here - and how they will be received by the local public.
