Publicis: Time for the new UBS pension campaign

According to a recent study, most Swiss people ignore the topic of retirement planning, says Publicis. The agency is trying to change that with a campaign for UBS.

Instead, the aim was to persuade people to start planning for their retirement early so that they don't end up empty-handed later on. Publicis therefore developed a campaign that confronts people with subtle moments of ageing, reminding them that none of us will stay young forever. Moments that many of us have already experienced - and if not, are guaranteed to experience.

It's not about the first gray hair you see in the mirror in the morning. Rather, it's about changes in behavior and quirks that people suddenly display. In other words, things that you suddenly do differently at 46 than you did at 34, or situations that you have often found yourself in, but which take a new turn due to "age".

At the heart of the campaign are five TV and two cinema commercials that convey these special moments of ageing with a great deal of humor and self-irony and, at the end, encourage customers to think about pension provision now. The campaign is flanked by several print advertisements, posters, numerous POS advertising materials and online measures linked to a competition in which prizes worth over CHF 25,000 can be won.

Weko examines advertising alliance between Swisscom, SRG and Ringier in greater depth

Over the next four months, the Competition Commission (Weko) will be reviewing a case that has already caused quite a stir in the Swiss media landscape: the as-yet-unnamed joint venture between Swisscom, SRG, and Ringier.

Swisscom, SRG and Ringier want to bundle their advertising sales in the company. Praised by some as an innovative solution and criticized by others as highly questionable in terms of media policy, the plan has caused a lot of turbulence since it was unveiled a month ago. It led to Ringier's withdrawal from the Swiss Media Association (VSM).

Swisscom, SRG and Ringier want to use the joint venture to stand up to international online giants like Google and Facebook in the advertising market. These are strong in data analysis and can thus sell personalized advertising. With their joint venture, the two media houses and the telecom company also plan to offer such advertising tailored to the target group, for example on television. All three companies are to contribute their user data to the new company, Swisscom also its technical know-how, SRG and Ringier their advertising platforms.

But now the Weko must first give its approval: It will "examine the merger in depth," according to a statement on Thursday. The preliminary examination has shown that the cooperation in target group-specific TV advertising could lead to a dominant position or strengthen it. There are indications of this.

Scandal at meeting

The day after the three companies presented their plans, the VSM coincidentally held a closed meeting. According to Ringier, there were "intensive discussions" about the planned new company. The VSM had in fact demanded a ban on advertising for SRG. This was a radical demand that Ringier could not support. As a result, the media company withdrew from the association.

Ringier, SRG and Swisscom stress that their new company is open to others. "We are not a closed club," Ringier CEO Marc Walder said in August. However, he said that for the time being, a customer relationship is envisaged for cooperation with other partners, i.e., no admission of additional shareholders. (SDA/uma)

Supertext refines name of the leader consulting

Supertext: Enrico Bachmann becomes Enrico von Walterskirchen.

Supertext proofreads media releases, edits web texts and writes entire blogs. As different as the customers and the industries are, all services have the motto "Super quality for super results" in common. The company wanted to be committed to this credo in its own business as well. So they checked where there was potential for improvement.

Online ordering via website, quality of text and translation services offered, IT team - everything was actually right here. But what about the employee names? Could you get more out of them? Yes, absolutely! And so the Supertext employee Enrico Bachmann became Enrico von Walterskirchen.

Unbenannt-5_97

In Enrico von Walterskirchen, of course, there's still the Enrico Bachmann who, as a copywriter, creative director and member of the Art Directors Club Switzerland, spent more than 20 years working for clients such as Swissair (they rest in peace), Credit Suisse, Sony, Michel Fruchtsaft and Media Markt Germany. And who in the last 2.5 years as Head of Consulting made his contribution to the impressive growth of Supertext.

But Enrico von Walterskirchen is now also the Enrico von Walterskirchen who, together with the other 24 employees, is igniting the next stage of the supertext rocket: With a strengthened French Connection and an increased English colony for even more language expertise. With a dedicated three-person IT team that is happy to integrate the Supertext translation platform into the intranet of a company like Swisscom. With more project managers who, as the single point of contact for their customers, are the girls and boys for everything when it comes to supertexts and supertranslations.

Why did Enrico Bachmann become Enrico von Walterskirchen? From well-informed circles one hears that he connected his name optimization immediately still with a marriage. (Supertext)

Swiss Media Association to decide on CLA negotiations

At the Swiss Media Congress, the Swiss Media Association will decide whether to negotiate a collective bargaining agreement for media professionals in German-speaking Switzerland. Association members will submit a motion to that effect.

This was written by the Syndicom trade union and the Impressum professional association on Wednesday. A collective labor agreement (CLA) for media professionals would unite the industry in the current transformation phase and strengthen it in many respects, the Syndicom trade union and the Impressum professional association said in a joint statement. Until now, the executive committee, which currently consists of seven publishers, had blocked the start of CLA negotiations for media professionals in German-speaking Switzerland. A proposal drawn up by the journalists' representatives and the managing director of the publishers' association itself was also rejected by the steering committee.

Eleven years without a contract

In German-speaking Switzerland, there has been no contract for eleven years. In French-speaking Switzerland, on the other hand, there is still a collective labor agreement for media professionals. On Wednesday, Syndicom and Impressum appealed to the publishers, the members of the publishers' association, to agree to the commencement of CLA negotiations. The journalists who are members of Syndicom and Impressum are counting on the social partnership spirit of their employers. Every publisher has a responsibility - to its employees and also to the public.

Support from Leuthard

Most recently, even Media Minister Doris Leuthard called on publishers to negotiate a collective labor agreement with the unions in the media industry. The Federal Council does not intervene directly in such matters. "But I would very much like the publishers to be more willing to talk," Leuthard stated in newspaper interviews at the end of April. She hopes that a CLA for media professionals will result in higher journalistic quality. The Swiss Media Congress will take place on Thursday and Friday in Interlaken. The joint advertising and marketing platform ofSRG , Swisscom and Ringier is likely to be the main topic of discussion there. These plans led to a scandal within the publishers' association and Ringier's withdrawal from it. (SDA)

Messerli Group takes over Media Rent

Effective September 9, 2015, the Messerli Group will acquire Dr. W.A. Günther Media Rent, one of the leading companies in the Swiss live communications industry.

In the course of a succession plan, Willy Günther has found a solution that is optimal in all respects for employees and customers with the sale to the Messerli Group, according to a statement. For more than 30 years, the 62-year-old has led the company in the second generation as chairman of the board of directors. Since the next Günther generation is still of primary school age, the patron sought an external succession solution that would both respect the company's tradition and offer positive development opportunities for its future. In a carefully conducted evaluation process, the ideal partner was found in Andreas Messerli (54). The Messerli Group, which he heads, comprises leading companies in emotional marketing, live communication and brand experience.

"I am proud that we are able to take over Media Rent. The company is a Swiss leader, very healthy, sustainably solid and has competent, motivated employees. With its high-class services and innovative event technology, Dr. W.A. Günther Media Rent completes the current competence fields of the Messerli Group," Andreas Messerli comments on this acquisition.

"Handing over a company that has been in the family for over 80 years to new hands is also an emotional process. That's why I'm glad to have found a positive solution for both employees and customers with the handover to Andreas Messerli. As the owner of a family business, Andreas Messerli shares our values and quality concepts in every respect," says Willy Günther.

Thomas Post, CEO of Dr. W.A. Günther Media Rent, and the management team with Claudia Raguth, Jörg Birrfelder and Oliver Keller are firmly convinced that this step will have a very positive impact, both on Dr. W.A. Günther Media Rent and on the Messerli Group. Under the leadership of Thomas Post, Mediarent will remain true to its high standards and values as an independent company within the Messerli Group, while at the same time being able to continue to develop in a forward-looking manner.

Willy Günther will remain active as a member of the Board of Directors in his group of companies operating in Switzerland, Germany, Austria and Benelux with the divisions "Distribution" and "Project and Systems Business of Professional Audio and Video Technology". Therefore, his second Swiss company, Dr. W.A. Günther Audio Systems, remains unaffected by this acquisition.

Advertising city creates charm offensive for Fireswiss

Fireswiss is Glas Trösch's fire protection brand. To raise awareness of the two products—Fireswiss Foam and Fireswiss Cool—in the construction industry in particular, the Werbestadt agency was commissioned to develop a branding campaign.

The aim was to enter into conversation with decision-makers on the customer side and to build new relationships. Three main groups were identified as the most important contacts for fire-resistant glass: Aesthetes (architects and draftsmen), Thinkers (planners and project managers) and Doers (carpenters, glaziers and metalworkers). A suitable soft drink was selected for each of the three professional groups and an individual can design was developed: Iced coffee for the architects, apple spritzer for the planners, and an energy drink for the doers.

The main message of the charm offensive is: "We know our customers' individual needs."The following communication tools are used during the surprise visits of the contact persons on site: beverage cans in three designs, packaging (six cans per unit), advertising folders, and design of delivery vehicles.
