TV drives growth in electronic media

According to the Goldbach Index (Gemi), advertising pressure on TV increased by three points in August, resulting in an increase of two points for electronic media.

There were no significant changes compared with the previous month in radio, the Internet, teletext and digital out of home. The market as a whole is also unchanged. TV therefore emerged as the winner in August. In the year to date, declines had to be accepted. With a significantly higher advertising pressure of 653 points compared to 650 points in the previous month, the value is now even approaching the record level of 654 points from December 2014 again. Digital out of Home also increased with a plus of one to a new 665 points. Thanks to the upward trend since May, almost half of the decline in April of this year has already been made up. With a minus of one point, Internet was able to confirm itself at a very high level. Compared to twelve months ago, the figure is almost 10 percent higher. Advertising pressure for teletext decreased for the second time in a row by one point.

Electronic media as a whole benefited from the strong increase in TV. The two-point increase confirms the upward trend since June. Advertising pressure for the overall market, on the other hand, has not changed since May this year.

Advote.ch, the second screen of TV advertising

Stailamedia and Maxus launch interactive TV campaign for Jeep

Stailamedia and the media agency Maxus are producing an interactive TV campaign for the current Jeep Cherokee campaign in Switzerland.

Shazam, the mobile app for music recognition, has become indispensable for many users. This makes this high-reach mobile channel interesting for advertisers as well. With "Shazam for TV," advertisers can also help classic TV commercials become more interactive: "Shazam for TV" brings linear TV and mobile interactivity together. Interested customers spend up to five minutes in the advertiser's brand world.

The car manufacturer Jeep is already relying on the proven link between TV commercials and the Shazam mobile app in many markets. An interactive TV campaign will run in Switzerland from September 7, 2015 to September 27, 2015.

After the call-to-action in the TV commercial, users can not only call up detailed product information on new engine options, the UConnect multimedia system and other extras. Rather, the user is also offered a wide range of content through information on the music track from the TV commercial and social media integrations from Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. The dwell time with the brand is significantly higher through "Shazam for TV" than with a purely conventional TV campaign. In addition, users can book a test drive at their local dealer and/or order the current Jeep Cherokee catalog directly via the app.

"Together with the Maxus agency and the client Jeep, we are happy to be able to offer the great possibilities of linking online with TV advertising in the Swiss market as well," says Melanie Ohnemüller, consultant in charge at Stailamedia. "The limited Jeep Cherokee Swiss Black Edition stands out above all for its Black finish features - but there is much more to discover. "Shazam for TV is an ideal tool to take viewers beyond the TV spot," says Mattia Lovallo, Brand Communication Manager for Jeep Switzerland. "Already, more users have made use of the second screen offer than expected. However, a TV campaign with a relevant size and corresponding GRPs is also crucial for the success and added value of a "Shazam for TV" campaign," says Philipp Augenstein, Head of Digital at Maxus.

Karasek's catalog review goes around the world

There is talk of a "flawless PR coup" and the "marketing stunt of the year. What is meant is the online clip realized by Wirz for Ikea Switzerland, in which Hellmuth Karasek reviews the most printed book of the present day: the Ikea catalog.

To draw attention to the recurring event - the new Ikea catalog is published annually in late summer - Wirz and Ikea rely entirely on content marketing.

The film, which lasted around five minutes, was shown to a hand-picked number of journalists the day before the catalog was published. Shortly after the film appeared on the first press portals, the campaign took off. Within 48 hours, more than 100 newspapers and TV stations in Germany and abroad had reported on the catalog review. Among them were well-known titles such as the FAZ, the Süddeutsche Zeitung, and Time magazine from New York. Hellmuth Karasek was even a trending topic on Twitter for a while.

The response was positive to enthusiastic. A few press comments:

"Not a bad publicity stunt: none other than the literary critic known from the "Literary Quartet" reviews the new Ikea catalog."
- The world

"He quotes Freud and Goethe and is anything but enthusiastic - a joy to watch."
- The Covenant

"Karasek is willing to lend glamour to even the dullest Billy Regal."
- Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung

"Karasek and the Ikea catalog. Both have existed since time immemorial and both radiate solid comfort. The finest coincidences, then, for a fabulous advertising idea."
- South German Newspaper

Karasek's catalog review was also received positively across the board in the industry: Among other things, the film was Appearance of the Day at Horizont, Editor's Pick on Creativity-Online and Ad of the Day at AdWeek. In total, the film reached over 230 million people via news portals around the world - all without any support from paid media.

KSP makes fashion trends look old for Schulthess

Schulthess's product launch campaign shows that outstanding quality outlasts any trend. It was created by KSP.

This month, KSP launches the launch campaign for the new Spirit washing machines and tumble dryers from Schulthess. The focus is on the exceptional quality that gives Schulthess appliances a long, hard-working life. For this, KSP's creatives play on the theme of longevity with a surprising reference to fashion, music and love:

The new campaign shows everything that comes and goes in the busy life of a Schulthess machine, while it washes unimpressed. And washes. And washes.

The product campaign marks a change in image communication, as it reinterprets the Schulthess quality promise. A quality promise of the only brand for laundry care that has been developing and producing its appliances in Switzerland for 170 years. And which is thus more than ever in the spirit of the times.

Partner & Partner: A win for health

Partner & Partner has launched a new campaign for «Friendly Work Space,» Switzerland’s first and only quality label for workplace health management.

"Friendly Work Space" - the first and only Swiss quality label for occupational health management - was developed by leading Swiss companies together with Health Promotion Switzerland. Since 2009, 60 companies have already received the label. Their 190,000 employees thus benefit from systematic health management and correspondingly optimized working conditions. From the very beginning, Partner & Partner supported Health Promotion Switzerland with naming, branding, communication strategy, and the development and implementation of all measures.

With the relaunch of the 2015 communications campaign, in addition to the continuing goal of member acquisition, the focus is now also on raising awareness of the label among employees. The new integrated campaign concept serves both employers and employees: the central idea, visual language, and campaign texts for both target segments are based on the new communication platform with the overarching claim "A win for everyone. The individual messages can nevertheless be conveyed in a target group-specific manner. A co-branding strategy is also made possible.

The newly designed Website in responsive design separates the content according to the two different target segments in order to address them optimally. The content for employees was also integrated and forms the basis of the online campaign, which is supported by ads in daily newspapers. The active involvement of employees is additionally supported by a commitment competition. Advertisements in the business press draw employers' attention to the relevance of the label.

Responsible at Health Promotion Switzerland: Michael Gabathuler, Miriam Rauber (Project Management Communication). Responsible at Partner & Partner: Gianfranco Acocella, Nadine Aeby (art direction), Andreas Beugger (AD interaction design); Denise Nick, Luc Holzach (concept/consulting), Tiziana Mascolo (project management), !frappant Webfactory (website programming).

Last but not least: Awesome media planning

Normally, advertisers from outside the industry give porn sites a wide berth. Not so the Austrian Pirate Party. Pretty clever...

In the past few days, the party has booked banner spaces on the porn portal Youporn.com. A picture of Austrian Interior Minister Johanna Mikl-Leitner with the sentence "Johanna wants to watch you!".

The banner is linked to a Pirate Party pagewhich is campaigning against a planned state protection law, for example on data retention. The screenshot has changed from Futurezone.at via Twitter via various high-reach blogs such as Nerdcore and Schleckysilberstein spread at lightning speed and reached hundreds of thousands of people. "No political party has ever advertised so effectively with around 40 euros," says Pirate top candidate Claus-Peter Wiesinger happily to the portal Futurezone.at. It is about making the consequences of surveillance visible where privacy is important. There is really nothing more to add. Except that other subjects have been added in the meantime. On the one hand, Federal Chancellor Werner Faymann says "I can't watch Johanna!" - On the other hand, German Chancellor Angela Merkel has also been graced with a banner. Claim: "Does mom know what you're doing?". In this day and age, good ideas can replace a lot of money. (hae)

Portfolio is expanded

The MAS Digital Business program is the only one of its kind in Switzerland. It is structured independently of semesters and consists of three CAS (Certificate of Advanced Studies) modules. The development of the Master's Thesis (diploma thesis) forms the conclusion of the program. Previously, the certificate courses in Digital Leadership, Distruptive Technologies, Multichannel Management, Mobile Business and Social Media Management were available. The CAS Digital Risk Management is a new addition. It deals specifically with the management of risks associated with digital transformation, such as hacking or loss of privacy. The MAS Digital Business is strongly practice-oriented. The CAS modules are led by renowned professionals from the business world, including Patrick Comboeuf (CAS Digital Leadership) and Marion Marxer (CAS Multichannel Management).

The MAS Digital Business can be started at any time. It is aimed at people who are already in management positions or soon want to take on a management function. It is also designed for employees of companies who, due to the dynamic development of digitalization, need to transform their previous conventional business models at a strategic level.
