Lucentive celebrates its 10th anniversary

Ten years in live communication—25 years as an agency: Lucentive, based in Allschwil, was founded in the late 1980s.

The group of companies at that time focused on group travel, concerts and incentives. Due to an increasing specialization in these areas, the group of companies split amicably in 1998 into Session Basel AG ("Baloise Session") and a few years later into three further companies. This is how the company Lucentive, which is active today, came into being in 2005. For the past ten years, the company has concentrated exclusively on 360° live communication. The aim is to compose and stage sustainable and memorable brand experiences for its customers.

"I am personally delighted to be able to celebrate this anniversary together and in friendship with all of the Group's former business partners," says Lucius Vogt, owner of Lucentive. "The business environment has changed a lot, but one thing has remained the same: Recognizing and understanding people and their needs is crucial for us as a service provider and represents a new challenge every day. Our core values of unforgettableness, reliability and partnership are always at the heart of everything we do. Our agency applies these values in all areas of activity and develops, designs and implements all projects with this in mind," he adds.

Lucius Vogt recalls with pleasure the highlights of the company's development. He counts the opening of the Botta building on Aeschenplatz in Basel and the numerous SME company anniversaries and annual conferences throughout Switzerland among the most memorable events. Other highlights of Lucentive's international activities include an employee event for a major bank in the Forbidden City in Beijing and countless incentive trips throughout Europe.

"I would like to thank my current team as well as all former employees and especially you, our long-standing and loyal customers, for these eventful years. We will do everything we can to continue to inspire your guests, customers and employees with unforgettable brand experiences. We look forward to working with you over the next ten years to implement interesting projects efficiently and with high quality," says Lucius Vogt.

Leo Burnett Switzerland: Clothes speak plain language

Leo Burnett Switzerland has created radio spots for Shilcity Fashion Week, showing that it’s not such a bad idea to keep your mouth shut every once in a while.

The rest of the communication is done by the right clothes. These can be discovered at Sihlcity Fashionweek on the catwalk, in numerous stores and at many other events.

Jung von Matt/Brand Identity creates the new brand identity of Pro Senectute

Jung von Matt/Brand Identity helped Pro Senecture define its brand personality, completely revamped the brand system, brand design, and visual identity, and developed all design templates for every medium and touchpoint.

"Stronger together" is the new claim that the brand experts at Jung von Matt/Brand Identity have developed for Pro Senectute. Externally, it succinctly sums up what Pro Senectute stands for at its core: solidarity between the generations as well as progressive and social services for the needs of the elderly population and their relatives. Internally, it conveys the self-image: as a strong community, all regional Pro Senectute organizations, the many volunteers, donors and partners work together to ensure the well-being of the elderly population and their relatives both nationally and locally.

As the best-known and largest service organization for older people in Switzerland, Pro Senectute is facing an increasingly competitive environment. In order to strengthen its position as a modern and efficient service provider, it was decided to revise the brand and brand identity.

As a striking design element, a dynamic color gradient was developed from the existing brand color green, which can be found in all communication points. Together with natural imagery showing self-confident older people and a flat layout, the result is a fresh and contemporary appearance. To give the well-known name even more visibility, the logo was defined as a pure word mark.

The new corporate design serves as a consistent brand bracket and still allows individual and regional communication thanks to a simplified sender behavior. This not only strengthens Pro Senectute as a whole, but also the cantonal organizations in particular, as these are where the services are provided and identification with Pro Senectute is created.

"As a Swiss institution that is almost 100 years old, Pro Senectute has to keep moving in order to be able to respond to the changing needs of our target groups. The introduction of the new look has triggered an enormously positive internal dynamic and strengthens us as the number one contact in Switzerland for issues relating to old age," says Peter Burri Follath, Head of Marketing and Communication at Pro Senectute Switzerland. From September 2015, the new design will be successively introduced at Pro Senectute Switzerland and the cantonal and intercantonal Pro Senectute organizations

Renzen: Hüsler Nest autumn promotion

In its fall promotion, the Aarau-based agency Renzen succinctly captures the core message—«Never again without my Hüsler Nest»—in a catchy, promotional way.

Anyone who buys a Hüsler Nest bed as part of the autumn promotion and thus receives a travel cot free of charge can confidently do without the "car loading acrobatics" depicted. The campaign, which was launched at the beginning of September, includes billboards, large posters, advertisements, dealer ads, animated banners, an Microsite as well as POS activities.

Bidding on the wrist

Ricardo.ch launches an app for the Apple Watch. Owners of an Apple Watch can now also monitor their desired items on their wrist and bid directly on auctions or buy items immediately via the watch.

Fixed-price offers can be bought immediately with a tap of the finger. "The hot phase of an auction starts in the last few minutes and that's where our new app comes in: An animated avatar shows users in a playful way whether they are the highest bidder or whether they have already been outbid. We wanted to bring the playful element to the fore on the Apple Watch, which makes bidding even more fun," explains Paulina Wielinska, Head of Mobile at Ricardo.ch. The app is available in the App Store and will be equipped with further functions in the future.

Tempo, Tempo - the third Typo St. Gallen 2015 went by in a flash

Typo St. Gallen was held for the third time this past weekend. This year, the typography conference focused on the theme of «Tempo.» Approximately 300 industry experts, business leaders, apprentices, and students attended the three-day event.

"Something has changed," said Bernd Kuchenbeiser during his speech on the first day of the event. He was referring to the change in the pace of work in his profession as a designer and author. Kuchenbeiser went on to compare his creative work to music: "There are different rhythms, you can play softer and louder, you have to get the timing right."

Typography and tempo

All the specialist speakers clearly expressed the different tempos that are used in the design to guide readers to the desired destination quickly and then give them peace and time to consume the content. Against this background, the presenters talked about their work, ideas and concepts as well as book design. As moderator, the concrete designer Clemens Theobert Schedler once again guided the audience through the conference program with ease and wit. Around 300 guests listened to speeches by typography luminaries such as Werner Jeker, Bernd Kuchenbeiser, Luc de Groot, Jost Hochuli and many other interesting personalities. The crowning finale was the Sunday morning visit to the Sitterwerk St. Gallen with guided tours of the art library, the materials archive, the Josephsohn boiler house and the studio building.

Satisfied organizers

The organizers received enthusiastic feedback from all participants after the event. As in previous years, the third Typo St. Gallen can be considered a repeated success. "Typography is more than just stringing letters together, it's much more. Sometimes disappearing, sometimes in action - it always works when the content leads. Networked people network the disciplines, creating intelligence in the flood of information. In terms of information, networking, fun and content relevance, we are extremely satisfied with the event. As the School of Design, we look forward to being the presenting partner again in 2017," explains Kathrin Lettner, Head of Department at the School of Design St. Gallen, with pride. The aim of the congress was to exchange specialist information and share knowledge and practical experience.

The book presentation "Tschichold's Fascicles" shows unknown works by the German typographer Jan Tschichold. Both exhibitions can be visited in the auditorium of the St. Gallen School of Design until September 26, 2015.

Study on the future of programmatic video

Together with IHS Technology, SpotX has conducted a study on the market volume of programmatic video in Europe. The Swiss market is also included for the first time. The most important figures at a glance.

In 2015, the Swiss programmatic video market is estimated at EUR 3 million. This means that 8% of the market volume for video advertising is currently generated by programmatic playout and booking. This volume is slightly higher than in Austria (6.5%), which the study attributes to the greater fragmentation of the market due to the different language regions - comparable to Belgium.

The market is forecast to grow to EUR 22 million in 2020, with programmatic accounting for around 41% of the total video advertising volume. This makes Switzerland the fastest-growing market alongside Austria.

Overall, the DACH market is currently expected to grow by an average of 54.5% from EUR 36 million in 2015 to a market volume of EUR 295 million in 2020, making it the market with the largest volume, behind France (EUR 358 million) and the UK (EUR 602 million).

Sunrise cuts 175 jobs

As part of an initiative to streamline its structures and processes, Sunrise is restructuring its organization. As part of these ongoing measures to improve efficiency, Sunrise will cut up to 175 positions.

A fair social plan has been agreed with the employee representatives and the Syndicom trade union for the employees affected, the company wrote in a statement on Tuesday.

To increase cross-divisional efficiency and avoid duplication, Sunrise will merge the Residential and Business Customer units: The newly formed commercial organizational unit will serve all customer groups under a single management. In addition, the Operations unit for residential and business customers will be merged into a single customer service organization. This should make it possible to improve services and achieve synergies in product and process development and digitalization.

To this end, Sunrise will reduce its current workforce of a total of 1890 full-time positions by up to 175 people (equivalent to 165 full-time positions). Not affected by the reorganization are the employees in customer service and the sales consultants in the Sunrise stores. During the consultation process, Sunrise held talks with the staff representatives and the Syndicom trade union. A fair social plan is in place for the employees affected.

Salt: Chairman of the Board Thomas Sieber resigns

On Friday, the Axpo Board of Directors decided to nominate Thomas Sieber for election as the new chairman of the board. To allow himself the necessary time for this, Thomas Sieber is stepping down as chairman of the board of Salt.

As CEO, Thomas Sieber was responsible for operational management from August 2009 to September 2012. During this time, he successfully repositioned the company (2010) and, in 2011 and 2012, equally successfully led it through the sale process from the France Telecom/Orange Group to a Swiss company owned by a private equity firm. At the same time, Thomas Sieber secured the best mix of mobile frequencies for the company in the February 2012 frequency auction. He thus laid the decisive foundation for the high quality of today's mobile broadband network. Thomas Sieber has been Chairman of the Board of Directors since October 2012.

Commenting on his move, Thomas Sieber said, "I am satisfied that I have been able to lead Orange Switzerland/Salt in a new strategic direction, successfully overcoming various challenges such as the introduction of a new owner and the smooth brand change to strengthen the company in a tough competitive environment. Now I am looking forward to the strategic challenges in a rapidly changing energy market." NJJ's Olivier Rosenfeld said, "We watched Salt's evolution over several years. With his operational and strategic contribution, Tom has helped make the company a promising investment opportunity for an industrial investor like NJJ. On behalf of the new owner, I wish Tom well in his future challenges."

In order to fully prepare for his new role at Axpo Holding AG, Thomas Sieber is stepping down as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Salt Mobile as of December 31, 2015, according to a statement. The process to find a successor has been initiated.

Apple's App Store targeted by hackers

Apple's App Store has fallen victim to a major cyberattack for the first time. The attack originated in China and has also affected several widely used apps. The tech giant acknowledged the incident on Sunday.

Cybersecurity companies had previously declared that they had found malware in numerous apps. Chinese state television CCTV spoke of over 350 affected applications on Sunday. Popular Chinese apps such as those of Uber competitor Didi Kuaidi and the messaging app WeChat were also infected, potentially affecting several hundred million users. According to the IT security firm Palo Alto Networks, which helped uncover the attack, other infected apps included games and applications for banking, stock trading, online networks, maps and communication. Apple has since removed the applications from the App Store, the company said on Monday night. There are no indications of data theft or other damage. Apple did not disclose how users can recognize a possible infection of their device or the number of affected apps.

Unbenannt-6_98

Manipulated developer tool

The problem was triggered by the fact that some app developers had used a prepared version of the Apple software XCode to write their applications, explained Palo Alto Networks. According to the IT security firm's findings, the apps created with this software were able to steal passwords, among other things. Access to the official developer software on the Apple website from China is often difficult due to Internet censorship. The developers therefore used a supposedly original version of XCode that had been stored in a cloud storage facility belonging to the internet company Baidu. The manipulated XCode program has since been removed from Baidu.

It remains unclear how the infected apps were able to pass Apple's controls. This is the first known successful attack on the App Store. By default, iPhones and iPads can only download controlled applications from the in-house App Store. This is intended to ensure that users who remain in the Apple system can rely on the security of the apps. So far, the system has seemed to work well. (SDA)
