Le Matin predicts news thanks to its readership

«Lematin.ch/qiva» is an ambitious project that combines information and entertainment. The prediction game, founded by Umanytics, an EPFL startup, is based on current events in the short, medium, and long term.

It can be played on a computer, smartphone or tablet. "Who will win the World Cup?", "Who will Prince Harry marry?" or "Who will win the 2015 federal elections?": Le Matin and Umanytics can guess the correct result 80 percent of the time thanks to the answers received.

Simple concept

After a brief registration, the participant helps to predict the future by tapping on one of the suggested answers to a current topic. However, this is not a survey, as powerful algorithms evaluate the results immediately. And who wins with Qiva? With 100% certainty a reader of Le Matin. The five sections (General, Sport, News, People and Culture) are supplemented daily with new questions. These relate either to a current event of the day, such as "Who will win the match between Sion and Basel?", or to an event in the distant future, such as "Who will succeed the Queen of England to the throne?" or "Who will be crowned wrestling king in Estavayer in 2016?" You don't have to be an expert to make a prediction. Every answer scores points. The registered answer is systematically compared with that of a participant drawn by lot. If the opponent has given the same prediction, you win points. The more unique the answer, the more points it earns. You can submit a tip on the same topic every thirty minutes and even change your mind. The important thing is to take part as often as possible. At the end of an event, you receive additional points if the last tip corresponds to reality.

A new community

Whoever has scored the most points each week or month receives a prize. Badges are also awarded according to personal progress in the individual areas, which can be displayed in the game and on the website. This allows you to track your own rank and that of other participants via your profile. As circumstances are constantly changing, you can give your opinion several times. Topic-related articles in Le Matin help with decision-making and increase the chance of guessing the right answer. Graphics show the development of the game. Le Matin thus offers its readers the challenge of informing themselves in a fun way. But that's not all. "In the coming months, Le Matin will be expanding the game on screen and in the print edition," adds Grégoire Nappey, the title's editor-in-chief. "We are planning further attractive developments and innovations for the French-speaking Swiss public."

Bernerbär: Reorganization and job cuts

The weekly newspaper Bernerbär will be more closely integrated into the organizational structure of the other media outlets in the BZ Berner Zeitungs family. Editor-in-Chief Jean-Claude Galli is leaving the company. Five jobs are expected to be cut.

This was announced by the media company Tamedia on Tuesday. A social plan will be applied to all those affected. The current Bernerbär team consists of 15 people. The goal of the restructuring is an increased exchange within the Berner newspaper family in the areas of culture, event and people reporting. The collaboration affects the editorial teams in particular, said Michele Paparone of tamedia's corporate communications department when asked. In the future, the journalists will work for both Bernerbär and the BZ family.

In terms of content, the Bernerbär will remain a people newspaper, according to Paparone. The exchange of articles under the titles is not planned. However, the layout of Bernerbär will be brought closer to that of the BZ family. In addition, the Bernerbär publishing house will be integrated into the Espace Media marketing organization, according to the tamedia announcement. Espace Media publishes the daily newspapers Berner Zeitung, Berner Oberländer, Thuner Tagblatt and Der Bund, as well as the free newspapers Bantiger Post and "Bernerbär". The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of tamedia.

The free paper Bernerbär has been published since the early 1980s and is devoted in particular to local tabloid journalism. Events, people stories and news from the Bernese rumor mill make up a good part of the paper. The paper sees itself as an entertaining companion for all age groups. Since 2011, the Bernerbär has been headed by Jean-Claude Galli. Galli had already worked at the Bernerbär from 2000 to 2007 and then again from 2010. (SDA)

Diana-Roggen

Orell Füssli Publishing is realigning its marketing and sales department. Diana Roggen (pictured) will take over the newly created position of Head of Sales for Germany and Austria as of October 1, 2015. In this role, she will work closely with dtv, with whom Orell Füssli Verlag has a sales cooperation in Germany. In Diana Roggen, the publishing house is gaining a business graduate with extensive publishing experience, according to a statement. Roggen has worked in sales functions at Bastei Lübbe Verlag in Cologne, most recently as head of overall sales until 2012, where she was also responsible for sales cooperations. Roggen had subsequently set up her own business as a consultant and lecturer.

Matti Schüsseler, Managing Director of Orell Füssli Verlag: "We are delighted about the professional addition to the team in Diana Roggen, and about the internal appointment of Gisela Klinkenberg, who knows the Swiss book market inside out. Both will use their knowledge and contacts to strengthen Orell Füssli Verlag's sales throughout the German-speaking world."

JvM/Limmat: e-banking campaign for Raiffeisen

Raiffeisen is launching a new e-banking service that allows customers to handle their banking transactions more easily and quickly—anytime and on any device. Jung von Matt/Limmat is showcasing this with a new TV commercial.

In it, iPad magician Simon Pierro shows in his very own way how quickly bills are paid. Pierro, who has also appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, conjures up a payment slip in an iPad and a real hundred-dollar bill out again in front of astonished viewers. It's just as fast with Raiffeisen e-banking. Even if you can't work magic. The film is accompanied by print versions and can now be seen throughout Switzerland.

Last but not least: Cover Flow Beta

What Apple's Cover Flow can do, the "Record Selector" from K-Tel could already do in the seventies.

Apple integrated the technology, which allows you to scroll through the covers of your own music collection, into the first iPhone and various iPod generations in 2007. Apple had bought the technology from the company Steel Skies, but was defeated in court in 2010 by another company that claimed the patent. A year later, the ruling was overturned and the Apple users of this world were able to relax and flick through the covers again.

In the days when vinyl was still the number one sound carrier, it was much more difficult to quickly sift through a record collection. But no less elegant, as the company K-Tel demonstrated in 1973 in a commercial for the "Record Selector". The device seems almost more sophisticated than today's touchscreen wipers. Sovereign! (hae)

The Below the Line agency was responsible for the conception, organization, design and implementation of the Sihlcity Fashion Show. This included, among other things, the selection of the models: Thus, the well-known Swiss blogger Sylwina Annina, the internationally active male model Hans Hatt as well as the Czech supermodel and former Victoria's Secret angel Petra Němcová showed the new fall-winter collections of the hottest labels in two shows. Presenter Annina Frey added an extra touch of glitz and glamour to the Sihlcity fashion show. Another highlight was the performance of the ballet ensemble "Forceful Feelings". As former dancers at the Zurich Ballet, the five members of the ensemble are now first soloists and principals at renowned opera houses in Europe and America. Ruf Lanz for VBZ: The clean Volkswagen

The VW emissions scandal is making headlines around the world and in the media. Against this backdrop, the Ruf Lanz agency highlights which Volkswagen model meets strict environmental standards: the tram.

Because a single streetcar lane carries the same number of people as five car lanes. And one person in a streetcar causes 13 times less CO2 emissions than one person in a car (measured with average occupancy). VBZ already transports 80 % of all passengers with environmentally friendly electric energy - that's about 720'000 people per day. No wonder, this Volkswagen enjoys unbridled popularity in Zurich. The current VBZ subject is causing a stir in 20 Minuten on Tuesday and is already being diligently spread on social media channels.

Déformation professionelle - Professional diseases in advertising and marketing

Axel Eckstein, Executive Creative Director at Leo Burnett Switzerland, writes in Werbewoche about the pathological in advertising and marketing. In the fourteenth episode: Campaign breakage (damnatio memoriae).

Description

Campaign disruptions are the result of personnel changes at management level, often on the client side and sometimes on the agency side. They are encouraged by the urge to quickly leave a personal mark with something new.

Anatomy

The campaign is a fabric that connects the recent past with the near future of the brand. The fabric consists of individual flights in different channels. If an ego arches into the gaps between them, finished presentations, planned film shoots and long-standing business relationships can be disconnected.

Forms

A direct campaign break occurs when the decline in market share exceeds the fluctuation rate in management. An indirect campaign break begins with a quiet cough in introductory meetings and statements such as "review communication on a regular basis". The existing team can then invest time and money to show that personnel changes are long overdue on their side too.

Treatment

In most cases, an impending fracture cannot be averted. Interventions during the acute phase are controversial and can even accelerate the hernia. A maximally invasive procedure is widely used, in which a mesh (that of the new leader) is implanted into the fracture site. Although scars form at the edges of the mesh, there is no fusion with the surrounding area.

Renzen: Classic and thieving for the new Athleticum Store Biel

Renzen promoted the opening of Athleticum Sportmarkets’ new store at the Tissot Arena in Biel. In addition to traditional methods such as posters, bus ads, print ads, and radio spots, Athleticum also relied on unconventional measures.

One day before the opening, for example, several hundred bicycle saddles were fitted with Seatcovers at the Biel train station and in the city center. In addition, high-quality sporting goods such as skis, mountain bikes and fitness equipment were waiting at well-frequented locations in the city of Biel for courageous passers-by, who tested the advice "only stealing is cheaper" in practice and, for once, quite legally.

The promotion is aimed at the opening discount of 20 percent that Athleticum customers can benefit from during the opening week. In addition to high-quality sports equipment, customers received mini footballs as a gift - appropriately branded, of course. A video of the campaign can be seen on Youtube:
