A new app for the Blick Group

The Blick Group is launching its fifth app, «BliQ.» The app brings news to smartphones using a playing-card-style interface and learns quickly based on user interest.

BliQ is the name of the Blick Group's latest app - with the "Q" standing for "Quick. "Quick" because content from the Blick.ch and Blickamabend.ch websites is offered in a colorful mix in the form of playing cards and can either be clicked on and read - or quickly wiped away - according to the needs and interests of the user. BliQ shows itself to be adaptive: After a few initial indications of interest at startup, the app learns very quickly what interests the user and what does not. The Blick Newsroom offers articles from all areas that are updated 24 hours a day, as well as videos, graphics, photo galleries, etc. All content is in German and can be accessed directly. All content is in German and can be shared directly on the popular social media platforms.

The app is available free of charge for iOS and Google Android smartphones and can be downloaded from the Apple Store and Google Play Store. The software developers Netcetera and Xplain provided active support in the development. BliqQ is the fifth app of the group after the apps Blick News, Blick Sport, Blick am Abend and the SonntagsBlick E-Paper App.

Last but not least: Brotherly love

Two German film students suddenly found themselves in the international spotlight with their commercial and became overnight contenders for the title of "Emo Commercial of the Year.".

Daniel Titz and Dorian Lebherz created a commercial for Johnnie Walker as part of their studies at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg. Without the knowledge of the whisky label. That should have changed in the meantime. Because the "Dear Brother" commercial, shot in the Scottish Highlands, has almost three million clicks on YouTube after less than a week. Not entirely by chance. The US industry portal Adweek.com praised the spot on the day of its release, asking whether the "breathtaking" film was "the best student work of all time. To which the worldwide DDB creative director Amir Kassaei tweetedHe would hire the two young talents immediately. And German agency bosses are also keen Wuv.de full of praise for the work. For Serviceplan creative director Alex Schill, for example, it's the "favorite of all the emo spots that are out right now." Meaning, among others, the Edeka campaign 1TP4Homecoming by Jung von Matt and the Ifolor spot "Grace" From Walker. (hae)

Publicis: When the partner becomes a tyrant

In a new print campaign, Publicis shows that if a partner turns out to be a tyrant, the Women's Center is there to help.

After a live billboard campaign by the Women's Center in Sihlcity caused a stir on International Day against Violence against Women (Werbewoche.ch reported), the organization is now following up with a print campaign. The issue of domestic violence is addressed in a surprising way by portraying women with their partners who look exactly like a tyrant from world history. The look-alikes of Josef Stalin, Muammar al-Gaddafi and Saddam Hussein were photographed by Carioca in Romania and edited using CGI.

"Every second week in Switzerland, a woman dies as a result of domestic violence. React early: 044 206 30 20"

It is a sad fact that a woman dies every second week in Switzerland as a result of domestic violence. The campaign is not only intended to draw attention to this fact, but also to encourage those affected to seek help at an early stage.

APG|SGA launches new segment brand

APG|SGA is expanding into a new business area. The company is taking over the marketing, organization, and execution of promotional campaigns at SBB train stations and is launching APG|SGA Promotion for this purpose.

APG|SGA Promotion will take over the exclusive marketing of promotions, stand and distribution campaigns (such as sampling, fundraising, ideational campaigns, etc.) as well as pop-up stores and events in promotion areas in around 170 railroad stations in Switzerland as of July 1, 2016. Major events (such as Oktoberfest, Christmas market, etc.) in the five largest stations will continue to be marketed and organized by SBB Real Estate as before.

APGSGA_Promotion_Skoda_HBZurich

SBB Immobilien and APG|SGA are thus intensifying their partnership. According to the statement, both companies are convinced that synergies with other outdoor advertising products and embedding in a large sales network can achieve a substantial increase in added value in the area of marketing, organization and execution of promotions in SBB stations.

The APG|SGA Promotion consulting and sales unit will be set up with a total of five employees to look after the advertising market - two of whom will come from the SBB team. From Zurich, APG|SGA Promotion will act as a national competence center for interactive communication activities. The range of services includes, on the one hand, the leasing of high-traffic locations for commercial promotions, brand staging, and pop-up stores on the promotion areas. On the other hand, the marketing of commercial and non-material distribution activities in predefined zones. In addition, the company offers concepts and accompanies the respective appearances and implementations at the customer's request. In the future, the new segment brand will offer its range of services in the promotion area in other communication spaces (for example in shopping centers, in the mountains, in airports and in public transport), according to a statement.

APGSGA_Promotion_Rivella_Promo

"Through integration into the sales organization of APG|SGA, the products and services can be offered internationally, nationally, regionally and locally. Based on our successful experience with numerous projects already realized, we are convinced that we will be able to successfully develop the new business field by utilizing the existing synergies. As a result, we will be able to offer our customers real added value," explains Ernst Fuhrer, who, in addition to APG|SGA Mega Poster, is also taking over the management of APG|SGA Promotion.

CEO Markus Ehrle: "With this expanded strategic orientation of APG|SGA, we are responding to a growing need of our advertising customers in connection with the changing consumer behavior of their target groups. Due to the growing importance of e-commerce and online shopping, the location of consumption is increasingly moving into the background. This makes it all the more important for our customers to bring their products and services closer to a mobile target group in a haptic and interactive way - and with our offers, this is increasingly possible on the move."

It offers interested parties, volunteers and church employees supplementary and in-depth information from the Swiss church landscape. The

SWA welcomes Weko decision

In a statement, the Swiss Association of Advertisers (SWA) is pleased with the decision of the Competition Commission (Weko) on the advertising alliance between Swisscom, SRG and Ringier.

With digitization, it is important that there is movement and more competition in the Swiss advertising market, SWA announced on Thursday. By joining forces, the advertising market would gain a new Swiss player that could offer innovative services in various media genres. Advertisers want to be able to benefit from new forms of advertising such as TV spots to individual target groups instead of all viewers at the same time, the communiqué said. The Weko had approved the joint venture on Wednesday without conditions - to the delight of Ringier, SRG and Swisscom. The publishers, on the other hand, are disappointed. In their view, this advertising alliance of a private media house with the state-affiliated companies Swisscom and SRG leads to a further distortion of competition. In fact, the Weko expects the joint venture to emerge as one of the strongest advertising marketers in Switzerland, it said Wednesday. Nevertheless, the Weko assumes that the advertising market will continue to function because there are other strong competitors, it said. (SDA)

Advertising alliance comes at the expense of national competition

The Competition Commission has given the green light for the marketing alliance between Swisscom, SRG and Ringier. The effects will be felt above all by the national media competition. This is the result of an expert survey conducted by Publicom.

Google, Facebook, Amazon, etc. have also secured considerable market shares in the Swiss advertising market in recent years. Swisscom, SRG and Ringier say they want to join forces in a joint marketing organization to combat this and strengthen the Swiss market sustainably in globalized competition with a joint venture. The majority of the media experts participating in the DELPHInarium, on the other hand, are of the opinion that the strategy primarily hits the national competition. According to the opinion of more than three quarters of the experts, the alliance primarily benefits the participants. They would clearly gain market share. It is equally clear who the losers are. Not the global Internet giants Google and Co., whose strong market position is unlikely to change, but the domestic advertising marketers and the private radio and TV stations and media houses will suffer from the merger.

Figure 1: In your view, is the Swiss joint venture really a strategy against Google and Co. or is it rather the national competition (domestic advertising marketers, private TVs and radios, agencies and publishing houses) that is affected?

Price collapse in the advertising market?

The DELPHInarium is rather skeptical about possible growth effects on the Swiss advertising market. The majority do not believe that the joint venture will have a positive impact on the growth of the Swiss advertising market in the next few years. Some even fear a price collapse, as advertising customers would demand the synergy gains in the form of reduced prices. However, various respondents point out that it is still hardly known exactly what the marketing alliance entails and that other national players could also join. The quintessence of the experts' opinion is that the broadest possible support for the joint venture is probably the best way to prevent the outflow of advertising money abroad from accelerating further.

Under the term DELPHInarium, Publicom, a company specializing in media research and consulting, publishes the results of a survey of experts twice a year. The panel includes forty experts from leading media companies as well as representatives from advertising, media journalism, communications science and corporate communications.

Tamedia takes over Adextra

Tamedia will acquire the marketing agency Adextra, along with all seven of its employees, in the course of 2016. Dominik Lämmler will then take over as head of the Display Classified sales team within the new Advertising & Commuter Media division.

Lämmler (pictured) is currently managing partner of Adextra, a leading Swiss marketing agency for digital advertising, together with Roger Blaser.

The Display Classified team will be responsible for marketing the display advertising of Tamedia's non-publicist platforms in the new Advertising & Commuter Media division, headed by Marcel Kohler. Adextra already manages the sales of various Tamedia sites such as Autoricardo.ch, Car4you.ch, Homegate.ch, Ricardo.ch and Starticket.ch under mandate. It also markets other leading Swiss websites.

Dominik Lämmler has previously held various positions at Tamedia. From 2008 to 2011, he built up the advertising market of the regional news platforms combined in Newsnet, and from 2003 to 2008 he was involved in building up the advertising products of the online portal 20minuten.ch.

Roger Blaser, founder and second managing partner, has decided to take on a new professional challenge after the transition phase at the end of 2016, according to a statement. He previously worked for Uphighmedia, Adlink and the St. Galler Tagblatt, among others, and subsequently founded the marketing agency Adextra in 2010.

The acquisition of Adextra is subject to the approval of the Swiss Federal Competition Commission.

Nominees in the "Large companies" category

Coop Cooperative with the project "Mondovino - The wine club from Coop"Wine customers are one of Coop's most important target groups. By launching the "Mondovino" wine club, this target group can be served even better and more efficiently and the lower level of personal advice compared to specialist retailers can almost be compensated for. The holistic concept with its cross-channel focus and extensive wine content on Mondovino.ch is unique in the DACH region. The club concept and the analysis options via the Supercard data enable Mondovino members to be processed efficiently and sustainably.

Migros Cooperative with the project "Migros Christmas campaign 2014"Migros is the first retailer to focus its Christmas communications on a charity campaign. To convey this message, the first Swiss Christmas song "Ensemble" was launched. Together with a music video, advertisements, posters, online and POP measures and an online auction in which personal items from stars and events were auctioned off, the aim was to encourage people in Switzerland to donate. The donation coupons were placed prominently on Christmas products and in the checkout area. Agency involved: Wirz advertising, Zurich

Migros Cooperative with the project "A vs. B - Battle of Tastes"Migros is one of the largest private label producers in the world. This differentiating feature should be communicated through the "A vs. B - Battle of Tastes". New products are launched in an innovative way, with the customer having a say in deciding which variety remains on the shelves in the long term and is reproduced. The primary aim was to appeal to a young target group that could vote using innovative tools such as social media battles, games and interactive banners. In addition to signaling the right to co-determination through high customer involvement, the campaign was to serve as proof of in-house production. Agencies involved: Wirz advertising, Zurich and Truestory, Küsnacht

UBS Switzerland with the project "UBS brand relaunch in the Swiss home market"UBS is struggling with an ongoing loss of confidence, particularly in its home market of Switzerland, following the global financial crisis and internal scandals. This represents a serious business barrier, particularly in the retail and SME business. With the global brand repositioning, UBS reflected the drastic change that the bank has undergone to all relevant stakeholders and communicated this in three phases that were coordinated in terms of content, form and timing. The internal sensitization of all 20,000 UBS employees in Switzerland in the form of training programs was followed by the launch of a brand campaign in the financial community, which set the brand tone. The brand relaunch was rounded off with a service campaign and a new interactive advisory check on the topic of pensions. The market offensive contributed to the goal of successfully and effectively ushering in a likeable new era for UBS Switzerland. Agency involved: Publicis advertising agency, Zurich

Spar with the project "Spar Schellen-Ursli: Creating uniqueness in a highly competitive environment"The Swiss retail trade is a saturated market, and diversification across the product range is made very difficult by the high price sensitivity and low willingness of customers to switch supermarkets. In order to push the Schellen-Ursli product line (products from Switzerland), Spar took on the role of presenting sponsor for the filming of the book "Schellen-Ursli". The resulting attention and the thematization beyond the product area created a good basis for selling the product line with 100 percent Swissness, which should help Spar to achieve uniqueness and identification in the highly competitive retail market.

Somedia with the project "Südostschweiz media family: one brand - one value proposition"Digitalization in terms of the merging of all media channels, the move from print to online and the strong focus on advertising impact have posed major challenges for the media industry for years. Somedia is meeting these challenges with a comprehensive media strategy. Convergence as a cross-media experience enables a multimedia customer approach and includes both a standardized service promise to consumers "Everything that interests the region" and an agency service for advertising customers that is geared towards a comprehensive media mix. Somedia is thus the first media company in Switzerland to consistently implement media convergence. Consultant consulted: Abegglen Management Consultants, Zurich

Nominees in the "SME" category

SC Bern / SCB Eishockey AG with the project "Fans become loyal users and sustainably valuable customers" / Increasing customer benefit by developing a multi-channel user experience and intensifying fan involvement: sports companies are faced with the challenge of skillfully combining fan cult and commerce in their campaigns. SCB Bern launched a cross-media campaign with print, outdoor, online and radio content under the creative approach #bärnrockt in order to expand customer benefits in the fan and sponsorship areas, create attractive added value and generate revenue at the same time. The SCB family was also to be expanded via social media channels, apps and online platforms in order to tap into the potential outside the PostFinance Arena. With this project, SCB is the first Swiss ice hockey club to efficiently integrate digital platforms into its business model. Agency involved: Republica, Bern

Sky-Frame with the project "New brand identity for Sky-Frame"Sky-Frame is a frameless sliding window that has long been one of the few competitors on the market in the "high-quality luxury goods" segment to build product awareness among the target group of architects, builders and investors. The market entry of new competitors called for a new, unique and differentiated brand identity for Sky-Frame. An overall rebranding in the form of a brand identity and logo was to communicate emotions and a sense of space in an intelligent and high-quality way. Agency involved: New Identity, Basel

Elkuck Josef Recycling Center with the project "Supersack - a step in the right direction"In Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein, only around 15 percent of household plastics are recycled, with the rest ending up in regular household waste. The Supersack was launched as a low-cost plastic collection bag for all household plastics. A dense network of sales and collection points in the regions of Eastern Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Northern Grisons makes it easy for environmentally conscious people to dispose of household plastics sustainably. The focus of the marketing mix was on well thought-out and cross-channel communication. A package of measures consisting of launch days with sampling, trade fair appearances, mailings and posters, outdoor advertising, media work and online marketing was planned. Agency involved: Brand core, Chur

Nominees in the "Nonprofit organizations" category

Office for Environment and Energy Basel-Stadt with the project "A scumbag cleans up"As in any large city, littering is a difficult issue in Basel. In order to improve the situation, a campaign was launched that has a sympathetic, provocative character and is by no means admonishing. With the approach of "rewarding the right actions instead of punishing the wrong ones", a free plastic bin liner (the "dirt bag") was handed out around the most important take-away businesses, whose product packaging is responsible for a large proportion of littering. This made it easy to dispose of the waste in a public container. In addition, a prize code was printed on each bag - if the garbage bag was disposed of in an official container, you could win an instant prize or a weekly prize. The campaign was communicated via posters, stickers, participating partners, radio and media cooperations and promotions at the littering hotspots. Idea, concept and implementation: Valencia communicationBasel mobile implementation of the Reward Program inspired by Tagxy Concepts.

Authentica Switzerland Association with the project "Authentica specialty fair"The Authentica Switzerland association aims to offer small producers in the food and arts and crafts sectors a unique trade fair platform and thus reach value-oriented consumers. In contrast to exhibitions with a trade fair character, the Authentica specialty fair is held in locations that offer the opportunity for a voyage of discovery, such as disused monasteries. Small producers are on site in person and present their products without flashy advertising. Communication takes place mainly via an ad-free trade fair booklet, which is distributed to the target group via the exhibitors. Agency involved: Bruppacher & Partner, Solothurn

Bookbridge with the project "Bookbridge Capability Program"In many parts of the world, education is still not accessible to all. Education initiatives often face a limited sphere of influence, dependence on donations and a lack of quality education provision, or are implemented as isolated one-off activities. Bookbridge took on this challenge with an entrepreneurial approach and a new inclusive approach to education. In Cambodia and Mongolia, learning centers are being set up to meet specific regional needs. To secure funding, each learning center also represents a business case as a fee-based training program for European managers: Participants work as entrepreneurs on an equal footing with local partners on a sustainable business plan, implement it locally and are measured by the end result achieved. At the end of the training program, the centers are supported by Bookbridge and continue to operate as local companies. With this "Capability Program", Bookbridge ensures sustainable, self-supporting development aid and combines this with know-how from Western countries. Agencies involved: Contexta, Bern
