The IV commissioned the controversial poster campaign

The IV is behind the controversial series of posters featuring slogans such as «People with disabilities just cost us money,» «People with disabilities are always sick,» and «People with disabilities are a burden on us.».

On Thursday, the controversial poster slogans were put into perspective with additions. Since then, the slogan quoted above has been accompanied by the words "If we don't use their skills" in a different color.
The head of the IV business area of the Federal Social Insurance Office (FSIO) was convinced that the type of campaign was the right one. The aim of the IV is to reintegrate as many disabled people as possible into the world of work, explained du Bois-Reymond. In order to achieve this, a thought process must be triggered among non-disabled people. Representatives of disability organizations fear the opposite reaction. These slogans would reinforce prejudices. Those responsible for IV conceded that this risk existed, but that it had to be lived with in the interests of the cause. Also, the acceptance of the campaign among disabled people has not been widely tested.
Not all disabled people are offended by the campaign. The head of the Center for Independent Living, Peter Wehrli, who is himself dependent on a wheelchair, congratulated the IV on its courage. "At last, the IV has taken the bull by the horns," he said.

Darko Pani? is the new Head of Marketing at Kretz

Kretz, a subsidiary of Zürichsee Medien, has brought in new talent. On November 2, 2009, Darko Pani?, former managing director of Publicitas Publimag, joined the team as the new head of sales and marketing.

Darko Pani? will give priority to organizing the takeover of the marketing mandate of Schweizerischer Hauseigentümer, which was won on 1 January 2010, and building up the sales and internal sales team, as Kretz announced on Thursday. Schweizerischer Hauseigentümer is published fortnightly and has 600,000 readers (Mach Basic 2009/2) with a circulation of 299,423 copies (Wemf-certified).
The filling of this newly created position takes into account the fact that Hansruedi Bichsel will take over the Kretz management in 2010. Bichsel is currently head of the Stäfa office. Fredi Kretz, who sold the company to Zürichsee Medien in January 2007, will retire in spring 2010. In addition, the entire Kretz AG will be centralized at the Zürichsee Medien site in Stäfa in the near future. The current second location in Feldmeilen will be closed by the end of March 2010 at the latest. Kretz has been active in advertising marketing for print media for 28 years.

SNK develops brand identity and appearance for ETH spin-off Cytosurge

SNK developed the brand identity for Cytosurge and positions the brand in its market.

Scientists from the Institute of Biomedical Engineering at ETH Zurich have developed a nanosyringe whose hollow needle is only a few atoms wide at the tip. This enables drug substances, DNA and RNA to be injected into or extracted from individual cells. In addition to biological applications, the process could also be used in microelectronics. This groundbreaking technology is now being further developed by the start-up company Cytosurge and brought to market maturity.
SNK works with the client to develop Cytosurge's brand identity and position the brand in its market. Based on this, the agency designed the logo and the entire brand identity. During implementation, SNK developed the brand's core messages and designed important communication channels, such as the website. From the outset, the brand demonstrates Cytosurge's enormous potential and high level of professionalism and thus provides significant support for the development of the company.

Facing: Brand development for health insurer Sanagate

The Facing agency was commissioned by Sanagate, the CSS Group's new health insurance company, to develop its brand.

Within six months, Facing worked closely with CSS to complete the naming and brand design work.
"Sanagate" is a pure word mark, as Facing writes in a press release. The lettering is characterized by a modern typography with simple and open forms. It appears fresh and light and expresses the dynamism of the new cash register. Based on the "gate" contained in the name, the basic visual elements are designed as a gate consisting of two bars in the two main colors green and blue. The appearance is rounded off by the imagery, which authentically shows people in a natural environment.
The launch of "Sanagate" took place this fall in collaboration with partner agencies as part of direct mail campaigns, the website and banner advertising.

Still no editorial contributions in official gazettes

There will continue to be no editorial content in official gazettes. This is the position of the preliminary review committee of the Bern Grand Council. In doing so, it is opposing the government, which had sought to lift the ban on such content.

The committee held expert discussions for the preliminary consultation on the partial revision of the municipal law regulating the gazette system, as reported by SDA on Thursday. The discussions revealed that publishers are critical of editorial articles in the gazettes, said Commission President Peter Bernasconi (SP/Worb) at the request of the news agency. They feared competition from the scoreboards for the press. The majority of the commission had taken these concerns into account with their "very clear decision", Bernasconi continued.
Financial security for the municipalities
The commission also spoke out against the government council's proposal on the second controversial point. The commission wants the canton to pay for publications in the official gazettes in future. Firstly, according to Bernasconi, this is about the argument of a level playing field. Municipalities already have to pay for publications in the canton's official gazette.
In addition, the municipalities are liable for the advertisements. In the best-case scenario, the municipalities make a profit. "But if an advertiser makes a loss, the municipality has to answer for it," says Bernasconi. With the current decline in advertising, the municipalities would like to protect themselves financially.
The partial revision of the Municipalities Act also provides for municipal financial supervision to be concentrated at a new cantonal office - the Office for Municipalities and Spatial Planning. The committee agrees to this and other changes without any adjustments. The bill will be presented to the Grand Council in the January session.

Last but not least: Apple's 100,000 apps - a reason to celebrate?

On Wednesday, Apple proudly announced that over 100,000 applications are now available in the iTunes App Store. While the computer company is talking about a new milestone, recent data from the US company Appsfire shows the downside of this development.

80 percent of the available applications go completely unnoticed by users and are hardly ever installed on an Apple device. Of course, reaching the 100,000 mark is a fantastic achievement. But what Apple is skillfully ignoring is the fact that the vast majority of the applications on offer remain unsuccessful, writes the Appsfire team on the official company blog, according to the press release. The analysis of user data from iPhone and iPod touch owners has brought clear evidence to light in this respect. "Our results confirm that the App Store only works well for a few hit programs. The rest, however, do not benefit from this success."

The Hesskiss agency has moved to Staffelstrasse 12 in Zurich. Aroma was commissioned to give the 500m2 office space a new look.

In addition to the furnishing concept, Aroma also took on the realization and production of the new premises, including site management. The idea was to design a flexible room concept for optimal use: With modular partition walls, construction elements such as pallets, a lounge area that can also be used for workshops and a bar, the new premises should radiate openness and creativity as well as a dynamic and fresh atmosphere.

Mondo made fit for a new world

At age 40, Mondo is getting a fresh start with a new concept, a new magazine, and advertising by Sulzer Sutter.

Anyone who thinks back to their childhood will certainly remember these books, which at the time were the first media to introduce us to the world of space travel, the exoticism of China, or even Swiss peasant painting. "How to convey the wide world to an audience from 6 to 66 years old?" was the program of Mondo Publishing House. Highly qualified authors and photographers created up to six books a year. In 1977, for example, these books together reached a circulation of around half a million - with only two million households in Switzerland at the time. The books were not available for purchase. They could only be purchased with Mondo points. "Such points were collected by grandmothers and given to their daughters, who then had them counted by their children," recalls Pierre du Pasquier, publisher at what is now Mondo Verlag in Vevey. In 40 years of its history, more than 50 albums of scrapbooks were first circulated there between 1920 and 1959. This was later followed by the "Fip-Fop-Club" for young people with 120,000 members, a magazine and numerous cultural events, when they were not even called that. The book publishing house in today's style was founded in 1967. It now publishes up to 60 books a year. Nevertheless, the idea of this educational entertainment has "fallen asleep a bit" in the times of TV and Internet, says Mar-gherita Masiello, editor-in-chief of a new magazine with which Mondo now wants to launch a comeback into today's world. New and attractive rewards are on the table for point collectors. The idea, which was adapted from the USA in 1920 by Nestlé's Peter Cailler Kohler, is to become even more open to brands outside Nestlé in the future. Already participating are companies such as Wyss Samen Pflanzen, Avia and Switcher.
The relaunch is communicated with a campaign by Sulzer Sutter. This started throughout Switzerland with a teaser avalanche of colored dots. In the reconnaissance, the posters, ads, and banners now present attractive rewards that can be won with Mondo points.

The new Mondo magazine is published five times a year, with an initial print run of 500,000 copies and 40 pages full of ideas about family life. the magazine also includes space for the catalog of premiums as well as editorial contributions and advertising from the participating brands with collection points.

Bankruptcy without debt collection

Debt collection proceedings can be tedious and time-consuming. You can expedite the process if your business client has stopped making payments and you can prove it. By Michael Krampf, lic.iur., attorney, lawyer, and editor at the Beobachter Advisory Center.

If a business customer fails to pay your invoice, you’ll eventually have to take collection action if you want to recover your money. Such collection proceedings can be tedious and time-consuming, especially if you have to prove your claim in court. Or if the debtor tries to evade their financial responsibility by any means, legal or illegal. However, under certain circumstances, you can expedite the collection process: If your business customer has stopped making payments, you can file a petition directly with the bankruptcy judge to initiate bankruptcy proceedings.
The judge will declare bankruptcy if you can prove that your customer has ceased making payments. Mere allegations are not sufficient. You must submit documentation that clearly demonstrates the cessation of payments. In practice, acceptable evidence includes, for example, a multi-page extract from the debt collection register or a letter in which the debtor himself admits to being unable to pay or asks his creditors to defer their claims or waive a portion of them.
The court with jurisdiction over the proceedings is the court in the debtor's place of business. The judge will summon you and the debtor to appear at the hearing.
Direct bankruptcy proceedings offer many advantages: You can bypass the debt collection process, thereby saving time, money, and stress. In addition, the summons from the bankruptcy judge to appear at the hearing may, under certain circumstances, prompt the debtor to contact you and pay the debt—or part of it—if you withdraw your petition for bankruptcy. This procedure may therefore serve as a means of pressure. And finally, there isn’t much that can go wrong for you. In the worst-case scenario, the bankruptcy judge will reject your petition because you cannot prove that the debtor has ceased making payments. In that case, you will have to cover the court costs, which amount to a maximum of 500 francs. You are still free to pursue your claim through the normal debt collection process.

A new font, redesigned lead paragraphs, and more boxes with information and quotes. The commuter newspaper *20 Minuten* was published on Monday with a subtly refreshed layout.
The redesign is a result of the merger of 20 Minutes and Le Matin Bleu in French-speaking Switzerland, as 20 Minutes Managing Director Marcel Kohler and Editor-in-Chief Marco Boselli write in a press release. As part of the merger of the two commuter newspapers, various design elements from Le Matin Bleu—in addition to editorial content—have been incorporated into the layout of 20 Minutes. This design evolution is also reflected in the layout of 20 Minuten in German-speaking Switzerland. According to the press release, the refresh gives the paper a «certain Latin playfulness» without diluting its perception as a national media brand. The subtle redesign was overseen by designers Mary Jane Fahey from New York and Marianna Ochs from Rio de Janeiro.

Energy wants to buy concession from Scaglione

Radio Energy Zürich, which operates without a license, wants to buy the license from its competitor, Radio Monte Carlo, in order to remain on the air via FM. According to a report in the Neue Züricher Zeitung, Ringier Radio is currently focusing on acquiring the station—which was scheduled to launch on FM in Zurich in the spring of 2010 and is owned by Giuseppe Scaglione. This comes after a temporary FM frequency—to be used until the switch to digital DAB+ technology—is likely to be blocked by competitors.

With Radio 105, however, Scaliogne already owns a station that, like Energy, is tailored to young people. According to Satnews.de, the station’s director did not, at least, deny the possible deal with Energy. He replied to the NZZ with: «No comment.».

Republica designs new website for Schaerer

As part of a comprehensive mandate, the Bern-based communications agency Republica guided coffee machine specialist Schaerer through its transition from a manufacturer to an emotionally resonant coffee expertise brand. This process culminated in early October with the unveiling of the new logo at Schaerer’s new headquarters in Zuchwil, Solothurn.

The change process began with a series of workshops in which Republica, in collaboration with the client, developed the new positioning and the brand’s core identity. Republica developed the corporate identity along with a mission statement for the employees. The first key communication element to emerge from this work was the new tagline «Coffee comes to life,» which was followed over a two-year period by a whole range of additional design and communication materials: the redesigned logo, a new visual identity, a promotional video and brochure, product brochures, a new website, and the design concept for trade show booths and the new company building.
