Travel24.com expands into Switzerland / TV advertising campaign launched

The publicly traded company Travel24.com is expanding into the Swiss online travel market. As part of its international expansion, the portal has undergone a major overhaul.

In particular, the search functions and the presentation of travel offers will be much more appealing. The launch in Switzerland will be accompanied by a TV advertising campaign on numerous Swiss private broadcasters and increased online marketing from March 10.
Internationalization is being driven forward by the new Travel24 Management Board and the majority shareholder, Leipzig-based Unister Holding. In Germany, Unister also owns Ab-in-den-urlaub.de, Fluege.de and Reisen.de, among others. Travel24 CEO Jan Valentin says that Switzerland is an attractive first foreign market due to its high purchasing power and manageable competition.
A revised logo in powerful blue and orange and the new claim "The best deals day after day" represent Travel24.com's claim to play a major role in the European travel market in the future.

View in court in the evening

Revealing scenes unfolded yesterday at the district court in Zurich. It was about a front page of the current Blick am Abend.

Around a dozen curious people were waiting at the Bezirksgebäude streetcar stop directly in front of the district court in Zurich yesterday, leafing through Blick am Abend with interest. A sensational headline aroused excitement: "I resign...". The story was about the "vote catcher" Lumengo. "Tough for him", people thought. Because on page three of the same Blick am Abend, you could also read: "Lumengo is very affable". Furthermore, it was already printed in black and white on page two that the sensational headline on the front of Blick am Abend was not true at all. The qualification "... if I am convicted" was meekly added.
The people in front of the court therefore began to discuss ethics in journalism - and whether the journalists at Blick am Abend were perhaps desperately chasing prime time with such bluffs on the front page. One also wondered whether, in the newsroom that opened two days ago, a title with a question mark might no longer be taboo for real professionals. But in this current story, there wasn't even a question mark. The headline was clear! Not black on white, but yellow on blackberry to match the tabloid. And presented in this way, it doesn't have to mean the truth. The main thing is that the title entices people to read it. Just like the "Blick am Abend vor Gericht" (Blick in court in the evening) in this little media scolding.

Is critical journalism becoming a scarce commodity?

The media industry has come under severe pressure during the economic crisis. Is there a danger that criticism will become a scarce commodity in journalism? The sharp decline in advertising revenue has been followed by a permanent reduction in jobs. Now the Swiss media union Comedia has declared a job shortage.

The media landscape is being destroyed, as Stephanie Vonarburg from Comedia emphasized in an interview with Pressetext. Critical journalism is in a bad way. A gigantic concentration process is underway in which the industry is shrinking to a few remaining media companies, says the industry expert. However, they are also reaching critical limits if they continue to bleed their editorial offices dry. According to the media union, around 1,000 jobs have been lost in the Swiss media sector since fall 2008. And the job cuts are still continuing. As a result, media reporting is increasingly coming from the press departments of corporations. The slimmed-down editorial offices are increasingly at the mercy of PR offices and communications departments and are dependent on their preparatory work.

Last but not least: Media professionals under pressure

After the crisis year of 2009, the numerous layoffs in the media industry, and a seemingly endless flood of reports about declining advertising revenue, one can’t help but wonder: How are the media professionals who are still employed coping with this pressure?.

There was plenty of good advice and forecasts: the quality of newspaper articles will fall, there will be more copying, journalists will have to do more research again. This is just a selection of the comments from politicians and media specialists. But the camera team in the newsroom shown in the following spot probably didn't expect one thing:

Corrigendum

The article «300 Million Gone» in *Werbewoche* on February 25 caused some confusion. In it, the author attempted to trace the trend in net sales from 2007 to 2009.

Unfortunately, as it turned out in retrospect, this is not possible with regard to net sales. This is because the figures for 2008 used for the article do not correspond to the values that result if the figures for 2008 are calculated using the deviations shown in the 2009 statistics. The reason for this is that the "title basket" for the sales figures is adjusted each year by Wemf for those titles for which no or incomplete information is available. In this specific case, this adjustment amounted to no less than 106 million francs. Almost 100 million francs of this is attributable to the daily press. The consequence of this is that sales comparisons only make sense with the previous year. The article on the website has now been adjusted accordingly. We apologize for the confusion caused here and there. PCM

Familylife.ch platform grows

Find outing ideas and playgrounds using the nearby search feature on interactive maps; list items and services on a free classifieds board: With these services, the Familienleben.ch platform is increasing its visitor numbers.

Since its launch around six months ago, Familienleben.ch has been growing steadily and now reaches almost 70,000 page impressions and 15,000 unique users per month. Familienleben has now greatly expanded the service area to accommodate the continuing increase in the number of users and at the same time adapted the layout to the changed requirements.
The map with family-relevant points of interest can now be found under "Map and places". There, users can search for family-friendly excursion destinations or enter their favorite playground for other families. The geodata module already contains around 6,000 entries in 28 categories and new ones are added every day. A particular highlight is the radius search, which shows destinations within the desired radius from any location. This is actively used and has received positive feedback.
Registered users also have the option of publishing their classified ads, including images, completely free of charge. Each item is linked to a map entry that shows the location of the provider if desired. The latest stock exchange entry is also highlighted on the start page. Not only things find a new owner, but also babysitters, childminders or homework helpers can offer their services.
With the increasing number of users, the circle of partners has also grown. In addition to Pro Familia, Pro Juventute and Pro Infirmis, the Association of Single Mothers and Fathers (SVAMV), Mothers' Aid and the Family and Employment Office UND
in addition.
Familienleben.ch went online in July 2009 and is published by Carpe Media. As a mouthpiece, platform and meeting place for modern families, the portal is in cooperation with the major family associations in Switzerland. According to the motto "Nobody knows as much about the family as the family itself", the aim is not only to provide information itself, as Familienleben.ch writes. All those involved, whether families or experts and institutions working in this field, should also have their say.

Clear the ring for Swisscom

Last year, Swisscom attracted attention with an emotional annual report in diary form: Stefan Eicher's travel diary. This year, Circus Knie is giving a very private performance for Swisscom. The "picture book" was conceived and produced by Studio Achermann.

What does Swisscom have to do with the National Circus Knie? For Tom Hauk, Head of Brand Communications at Swisscom, it is not difficult to make a connection between the communications group Swisscom and the entertainment company Circus Knie: "We share enthusiasm, emotion and professionalism," he says. "Circus Knie is around 200 years old. Every year it tours the whole of Switzerland, and in 2009 it performed at 42 locations. And the shows are almost always sold out. That says it all."
Circus Knie is a brand that accompanies you throughout your life: as a child, as a godmother or godfather, as a mother or father, as a grandmother or grandfather. The glow in the eyes of circus visitors is completely independent of age. "The small Circus Knie family has found the big Swisscom family," says Beda Achermann, the creative mind behind the annual report. "There are many things that are very similar between Circus Knie and Swisscom: Circus Knie is 200 years old, Swisscom 150. Both are traditional modern Swiss companies, and both focus on people, communication and entertainment." Communication plays a special role at Circus Knie not only in the circus ring, but also behind the big top. The circus family has 200 members from 16 nations - and they keep in touch with their loved ones via telephone and cell phone, Skype and e-mail, Facebook and Twitter. And, of course, they follow the television programs from their home country. There is a parabolic antenna in front of each caravan, and countless cables and radio connections bring the caravans onto the data highway. Swisscom ensures that these communication solutions work, no matter where the circus is performing.
Behind the scenes
Circus Knie has been a Swisscom customer for many years. So it was not difficult to get the circus family excited about the project. "The Knies quickly realized that we weren't interested in taking a few quick, pretty photos, but in capturing the soul of the circus," says Tom Hauk. The circus visit captured in pictures is therefore also proof and reward for a good partnership - customer loyalty made easy.
Hauk and Studio Achermann worked for almost a year on this special "business appearance". They accompanied the circus to several performance venues and photographed the artists in Rapperswil, Bern, Geneva and Lausanne. "We, especially our photographer of course, have become part of the Knie family," says Beda Achermann.
As in the previous year, Swisscom sent out around 50,000 copies of its diary together with the brochure "Swisscom in brief". Anyone who is also hungry for facts and figures can request the figures section from the company. "We use the diary to convey emotions and make what Swisscom stands for tangible," explains Hauk. "It also replaces our image brochure." While other Swiss companies are focusing on online annual reports this year, Swisscom will continue to present its customers, business partners and employees with a picture book in the coming year. "We want to give the readers of our annual report emotions and sparkling eyes," emphasizes Hauk. "You can't do that with facts and figures on the Internet. You have to be able to touch, smell and read our annual report on the balcony." Those responsible at Swisscom have already decided who will be in the ring for the 2010 annual report. However, the curtain will not yet be lifted.

A comic figure for all generations

Following a pitch, Numéro 10 will oversee the continuation of the «Healthy Body Weight» campaign.

Since 2007, Health Promotion Switzerland has been running a long-term campaign to reduce the body weight of Swiss children to an ideal and, above all, healthy level. The strategy for the 2007/2008 phase was to raise awareness. The aim was to raise awareness: "Every 5th child is too fat." In the second phase in 2009/2010, the declared aim was to motivate children to take more exercise and eat a balanced diet. In the last two years, ideas from the Jung von Matt/Limmat creation were on display. The campaign has now been re-tendered in a pitch for the coming year. Six agencies were allowed to take part. After two rounds, Numéro 10 in Bern won the "big" contract. A few adjustments were made to the briefing, which had to bring together the professional views of various organizations under a common umbrella campaign, before the final spurt. For the continuation of the campaign, the human aspects are to be given even greater consideration. Gilles Aeby from Numéro 10 translates this as "more face". Following on from the previous education, which was based on symbolic language, the aim is now to encourage healthy living through an identification figure. Aeby, who himself has two children aged 11 and 12, knows that they are almost addicted to comics. These also work for the second target group of young parents. With a "mischievous boy" as the main character throughout, the new campaign does not rely on a warning finger, but on tips conveyed in a friendly way. A little sin at mealtimes and on the PlayStation is perfectly acceptable - as long as they also play outside and eat enough fruit every day. With a comic figure instead of photos, the campaign relies on a visual language that is universal and therefore also understood by foreign children in our country. pan

Euro RSCG awarded at Spotlight Festival

The thirteenth edition of Spotlight took place this weekend. After twelve years in Upper Swabia and on Lake Constance, the German advertising film festival was held in Mannheim for the first time.

Around 2000 visitors attended the sold-out Mozartsaal. The focus of the 2009/2010 advertising year was on a striking number of committed commercials dealing with climate change, social justice and the search for humanity.
The awards at Spotlight are always decided twice. Firstly, by an expert jury with representatives from agencies, media, film productions and film schools. Secondly, by the live and digital voting audience itself.
The Euro RSCG agency won both a gold and a silver award with its "Love Life Stop Aids" prevention campaign for the Federal Office of Public Health. The agency received the Silver Spotlight from the expert jury in the "tv & cinema" category. The award went to the "Beachbar/Bus/Tennis" spot series. The agency also won gold from the public jury with the "Bus" spot.

Target group-oriented, individual and comprehensive

How Axpo effectively reaches its various target audiences through integrated annual reporting.

The Axpo Group is in dialog with a wide variety of stakeholder groups: Customers, shareholders, employees and interest groups have diverse expectations of the company and the future of energy - as well as different information interests and reading habits.
Integrated publication concept as a solution
In order to be heard in the polyphonic dialog about the future of energy, Axpo wants to make it easy for its stakeholder groups and tries to address them as individually as possible. To this end, Schneiter Meier Külling has developed an integrated publication concept that divides the annual reporting into various publications. The annual report, financial report and sustainability report are each tailored to a specific audience and their information needs and reading habits.
Individual and precise approach
This gives each publication an individual character and optimally meets the expectations of the target groups: While the Annual Report provides a comprehensive account of the financial year, the Sustainability Report provides evidence of Axpo's sustainability efforts. The Financial Report, with its sober financial reporting, serves the needs of the target group.
the financial community.
Efficiency and cost-cutting potential
Thanks to the content bracket "Energy is the future" and a uniform design, all publications are clearly recognizable as members of the Axpo publication family. This strengthens the profile of the Axpo brand. The division into separate publications also opens up potential for savings by adapting the circulation to the size of the respective target group.
Intuitive and journalistic information transfer
The reader guidance in all publications is optimally adapted to intuitive and selective reading behavior. Two reading levels provide the reader with different access points and entry points. Quick readers are specifically addressed with key messages and graphic elements, while the main reading level provides in-depth information. Various journalistic formats also create variety and increase interest. For example, Axpo sheds light on controversial key topics such as "renewable energies", "nuclear energy" and "mobility" in special sections, shows the pros and cons and reveals its own position.
Integrated online communication
Finally, the online version condenses the content of the annual report and, thanks to the intuitive navigation, allows the content to be explored in greater depth. As a service for analysts, the most important financial figures are available for download in Excel tables. In addition, the online platform of the Axpo website combines all publications as downloadable pdf documents.
Keystone: new company brochure
If you want to find out more about Axpo quickly, the new Axpo company brochure, which will be published in the next few weeks, will give you the most important information in a nutshell. For the time being, it marks the end of the range of publications. It now covers the information needs of a wide range of target groups both offline and online: from specialists and generalists to people who want to find out more in a nutshell. All publications support Axpo in its broad and target group-oriented dialog on Switzerland's energy future.
