Karin Komar has been working together with Michèle Notz in the Paron sales team since March 1, 2010. Commenting on her move, Karin Komar says: "Large-format posters have always fascinated me. RTL Group with stable profit in 2009

RTL, Europe's largest television group, maintained its 2009 net profit at the previous year's level despite a decline in revenue across all advertising markets. Net profit rose by 0.7 percent to 298 million euros.

According to SDA, the company announced on Thursday that this was due to strict cost-cutting measures and strong pre-Christmas business. However, sales fell by 6.3 percent to 5.4 billion euros. The Board of Directors is proposing a dividend at the previous year's level. This would mean that almost 490 million euros would flow into the coffers of the main shareholder Bertelsmann.
RTL did not provide an outlook. "Even though the decline in sales since fall
As TV advertising sales weakened significantly in 2009, we cannot expect them to recover quickly to previous levels," explained CEO Gerhard Zeiler. The Group therefore remains cautious.

Tamedia cuts 14.3 jobs in the printing division

Following the overhaul of the production process for the *Tages-Anzeiger*’s new four-section format, the Bubenberg Printing Center is restructuring its operations and eliminating 14.3 full-time positions.

The job cuts will take the form of at least 5 early retirements and 10 redundancies, as the company wrote in a press release on Thursday. As a result of the new production process, around 50 employees in the affected areas will receive new work schedules. This measure will not lead to any job cuts.
According to the press release, the Tages-Anzeiger's new four-bundle concept, which enables faster printing with the same circulation, has significantly reduced production times at night. In recent months, the processes and capacities have therefore been gradually reviewed and adjusted. The new set-up should enable the Bubenberg printing center to continue to offer its internal and external customers competitive printing prices and services.
The Tages-Anzeiger social plan will be used to cushion the impact of the job cuts on the employees affected. This was concluded between the social partners last year and explicitly includes the planned job cuts in the printing and forwarding departments due to the leaner processes.
With this job reduction, the measures resulting from the new four-federation concept have been fully implemented. The job cuts will be carried out in accordance with the statutory consultation procedure.
Comedia questions the extent of the job cuts
In a communiqué, the media union Comedia questions the extent of the job cuts. For Tamedia, the focus is obviously more on profit ("We want to continue to offer competitive printing prices and services") than on health protection and stress reduction for employees. With the currently planned job cuts, the lowest level of a sensible job plan will be reached.
Comedia is calling on the Tamedia management to offer those affected a choice between last year's "fixed" or "flex" models in connection with the planned early retirements. The extent of the job cuts should be seriously scrutinized once again and creative solutions sought in order to attach greater importance to health protection and stress reduction for those affected. The planned new deployment plans must take into account the co-determination rights of those affected and their works committee in accordance with the CLA provisions.
Comedia is demanding negotiations on all these points from Tamedia, together with the responsible works commission.

SR DRS makes a loss of 2.1 million in 2009

Swiss Radio DRS posted a loss of 2.1 million francs in 2009. Swiss Television, on the other hand, is in the black with a profit of 6.2 million francs. This information is taken from the annual report of SRG Deutschschweiz.

According to SDA, Schweizer Fernsehen had still made a loss of CHF 3.8 million in the previous year. The number of full-time positions at Schweizer Fernsehen increased by 26 to 971 in 2009. Swiss Radio DRS, on the other hand, is in the red for the third year in a row. In 2008, the loss amounted to CHF 5.3 million. The number of staff increased by 2.2 full-time positions to 717.5.
Number of complaints constant
The ombudsman for radio and television, Achille Casanova, received 138 complaints in 2009 - almost as many as in the previous year. The ombudsman was able to deal with 105 on a substantive basis. 87 concerned Swiss television, 18 radio. "There was a significant increase in cases in which religious or ethical feelings were offended," Casanova notes in the annual report. It is noticeable that the polarization of Swiss politics is also reflected in the content of several complaints. For example, in broadcasts about the minaret initiative or "generally in relation to the SVP". 18 percent of the complaints were considered more or less justified by the ombudsman's office. It was not uncommon for journalistic errors to be identified even when complaints were rejected. However, these were not relevant enough to identify a breach of the program regulations.
Convergence project was a talking point
The convergence project, in which radio and television are to merge, was also a talking point in 2009. A final decision on the planned merger is to be made in June 2010. With the "Convergence and Efficiency" project, radio, television and online are to work together more closely in all language regions under one management. After Romansh-speaking Switzerland in 2006, Italian-speaking Switzerland since 2008 and French-speaking Switzerland from 2010, German-speaking Switzerland will implement media convergence from 2011.
