LinkedIn introduces social selling solution

LinkedIn is now offering its sales solution, «Sales Navigator,» in German as well. The solution, which is integrated into the LinkedIn platform, helps sales professionals in the DACH region do more than just identify promising leads.

The "Sales Navigator" is also designed to make it easier to approach potential customers because it displays a lot of information around their public profile and activities, according to a statement from the business network. The insights not only make it easier to approach them, but also to provide tailored information as well as offers, thus increasing the chances of success. In Germany, around 100 companies are already using the LinkedIn Sales Navigator.

"Cold calls have always been terrible for everyone involved and always will be," said Arjen Soetekouw, Head of LinkedIn Sales Solutions (LSS) in the DACH region. "What's exciting about Sales Navigator is the transparency the solution offers sales professionals. They get real-time information on business partner interests and activities. By knowing what the potential customer is looking for, a real conversation can develop, leading to more stable relationships in the medium to long term. There is currently no other product on the market that can support sales professionals in a similar dimension in terms of audience, quality of content and network, and in this way open up new opportunities."

Among the customers who already rely on LinkedIn Sales Solutions in the DACH region is SAP. Malin Lidén, Vice President, SAP Experience: "Our customers shop differently in the digital world: the majority of the purchasing process takes place online. Every day we see how important it is to meet our customers where they prefer to be and to support them with appropriate information in their decisions. Using digital networks in the right way opens doors more easily - LinkedIn Sales Navigator offers an effective key to this. But it also requires a cultural shift: in an open, digital marketplace, influence, connections, and expertise count more than title. That's why at SAP, we're working across departmental boundaries to harness the full potential of social selling for customer acquisition and retention, and to increase customer satisfaction. That's what digital transformation means to us."

Potential of Social Selling

Already today, millions of business transactions are conducted on LinkedIn. The LinkedIn Sales Navigator is now designed to accelerate these processes and make finding and approaching new contacts even easier and more efficient. "Buyers are more likely to respond to an approach if the sales representative can show that he or she has dealt with the relevant needs," explains Arjen Soetekouw. "Simply knowing the position of the person being approached improves the impression when approaching by 64 percent. 75 percent of buyers also use social media themselves to gather information before making purchases. So sales would do well to build a presence there themselves, share knowledge, and make their mark." Existing users of Sales Navigator have a pipeline of potential buyers seven times larger and sales 11 times higher than sales professionals who use only LinkedIn.

Digital Festival Zurich

In a "hyper-connected" world where technology is omnipresent, the Digital Festival in Zurich aims to revolutionize the digital market with a completely new event concept. The festival will take place in Zurich from September 15 to 18, 2016.

In collaboration with Hack Zurich, the Digital Festival will bring together opinion leaders, key decision makers, international companies and the tech world to present relevant content that will inspire everyone to do their best. Expert conferences, idea competitions, workshops, labs and hacker competitions will take place in a relaxed atmosphere. Zeitgeist meets content without bling bling - and culture is more important than money.

"Ego systems and self-congratulations are no longer in keeping with the times," says Manuel P. Nappo, co-initiator of the Digital Festival. "The strength lies in being together, not against each other. That's the great opportunity for our vibrant tech scene." Thus, from September 15 to 18, 2016, the Digital Festival will form its own ecosystem, in which the online world will also unite offline - whether at conferences, parties, concerts or yoga.

Booklet Digital Festival

The premiere of the Digital Festival will take place in Zurich from September 15 to 18, 2016. The first two days are WOW Day and Transformers Day. However, the programs, idea competitions, workshops and labs are not only aimed at nerds, techies, digital natives, online kings and social media users, but also local entrepreneurs and opinion leaders - ultimately, all those who have learned the rules only to break them.

The third Hack Zurich, the longest hackathon in Europe, also has its permanent place at the Digital Festival. From Friday evening to Sunday, the 500 finalists, who beat out more than 1600 applicants from over 30 countries - including many students from elite universities - will compete. During the 40-hour competition, which takes place at Zurich's Technopark, the programmers, developers and designers try to crack Internet applications, mobile services and hardware.

Clear profile for arwa and Similor Kugler

Meta Design further developed two product brands for the faucet manufacturer Similor and presented the refined brand profiles to the trade show audience at Swissbau.

division with a company history spanning more than 160 years. It unites the arwa, Similor Kugler and Sanimatic product brands under one roof.

Increasingly, the need for a clear brand profile became apparent, according to a statement issued by the Meta Design agency on Monday. Working closely with the Similor team, Meta Design positioned the arwa and Similor Kugler product brands more progressively and clearly differentiated them from one another:

The arwa brand is aimed at a design-conscious audience that cultivates an individual lifestyle. It inspires through fittings with elegance, stands for high quality and has the claim to arouse desire. This is reflected in a sensual appearance with sharpness and fuzziness. A distinctive typography with pointed messages gives the appearance a special character. Arwa is the bijou of the two brands.

Similor Kugler, on the other hand, is aimed at an audience that values a sense of home. Qualities such as authenticity, reliability and a contemporary, friendly design are central. This is reflected in an image-rich appearance that depicts individuals, families, or generations engaged in everyday activities. The Helvetica typography reflects the classic modern Switzerland. A pragmatic language style grounds the appearance.

National Council committee intervenes

The National Council's Committee on Transport and Telecommunications (KVF) is now stepping in to address the dispute over the advertising alliance between SRG, Swisscom, and Ringier. It aims to ensure that private media companies are on a level playing field.

Among other things, the KVF recommends that the Federal Council include private media companies in the procedure for SRG's participation. They should also be given access to the documents relating to the procedure.

The Federal Office of Communications has prohibited SRG from participating in the advertising alliance until the end of March. It first wants to examine the participation under broadcasting law. Among other things, this involves the question of whether SRG's participation in the alliance significantly restricts the scope of other media companies. If this is the case, the Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications (DETEC) can impose conditions or prohibit participation altogether.

The KVF adopted its recommendation by 13 votes to 11, as detailed in a press release issued by the parliamentary services on Tuesday. By 13 votes to 10, it also called on the Federal Council to ensure that all Swiss media companies have access to Swisscom's customer data.

The majority of the Commission is of the opinion that this data should not only be available to the partners involved in the alliance, but to all media, Commission President Natalie Rickli (SVP/ZH) told the SDA news agency on request. The private media fear suffering a competitive disadvantage because the advertising alliance can use the data to target advertising more effectively.

Finally, the KVF recommends that the Federal Council impose conditions to ensure data protection. The government is not bound by the recommendations, Rickli clarified. However, the majority of the commission had also taken the concerns of private media companies into account in their decision. The Commission President herself is employed by the marketing company Goldbach Group.

The three partners SRG, Swisscom and Ringier announced in August 2015 that they would market their advertising in print, online, TV and radio in a joint company in future. Thanks to the Swisscom data, the alliance will be able to offer advertising tailored to target groups. According to the three partners, this data will be available to all media.

The Competition Commission approved the joint venture in December without any conditions. Next up is the Federal Council. (SDA)

Last but not least: Smart and nasty

A smart home makes everyday life easier—or, as this commercial shows, can actually make it much harder for everyone involved.

Mr. and Mrs. Smart (based on Mr. and Mrs. Smith from the film of the same name) fight each other to add a little spice to their everyday lives. Because otherwise - thanks to a fully automated household and the telecom provider TK Telecom - it works perfectly. Fortunately, this infrastructure can also be used in other ways.

The South Korean commercial was unearthed by the German specialist portal WUV. It was created by the agency Dal Communications. (sis)

Bern Museum of Communication reinvents itself

Starting next August, the Museum of Communication plans to completely revamp its aging permanent exhibitions. Some long-standing favorites will be removed.

The previous three permanent exhibitions will give way to a single exhibition. This will extend over three floors of the museum. One floor will be set up for temporary exhibitions.

The new permanent exhibition is to be larger and more interactive, as project manager Christoph Rohner explained to the media on Wednesday. While the previous permanent exhibitions were structured chronologically, the new exhibition will be more thematically structured and more accessible.

The current permanent exhibitions will be on display until mid-August - after that, there will be a year of renovations. During this time, the museum will not present any major exhibitions. However, it will be present with various offers, such as a city tour on the topic of communication and guided tours in the museum depot in Schwarzenburg. On August 19, 2017, the new permanent exhibition will then be opened on an area of around 2,000 square meters.

Reinvented again and again

The museum has reinvented itself again and again over the decades. Thus, it has changed its name and location several times. The institution was founded in 1907 as a museum of the PTT (Post, Telephone Telegraph). In 1990, the institution moved into its own building at Helvetiaplatz, close to other major museums in Bern. Since 1997, the building has been called the Museum of Communication. The current permanent exhibitions date from 2003 and 2007 and are now showing their age, says museum director Jacqueline Strauss.
