Swiss Sponsorship Award 2016 goes to Bank Coop

In 2015, Bank Coop served as the presenting partner of the Pink Ribbon Charity Walk for the first time. This sponsorship initiative has now been recognized with first place at the 2016 Swiss Sponsorship Awards in the Society category.

The Pink Ribbon Charity Walk was thus named the best Swiss sponsorship campaign in its category. The decision in favor of Bank Coop was given in particular by the defined target group as well as the social commitment in the fight against breast cancer, said the nine-member expert jury in its statement.

The jury evaluated the submitted projects on the following criteria: originality, sponsorship strategy, objectives achieved and communication tools.

"Receiving the Swiss Sponsorship Award is a wonderful recognition of our social commitment," says CEO Hanspeter Ackermann. To send a clear signal of solidarity, he himself took part in the Pink Ribbon Charity Walk in 2015, and he would like to be there again this year when the ninth Walk takes place at the Letzigrund stadium in Zurich on September 4, 2016. Bank Coop will again be the presenting partner. The commitment with the Pink Ribbon Charity Walk is designed for the next three years.

Last but not least: India bans Facebook's free internet service

For months, Facebook had been trying to save its free internet access program in India through a large-scale campaign. However, telecommunications regulators banned any exceptions for individual online services.

Indian authorities have put a stop to the Facebook project for free access to some online services. The regulators generally prohibited telecom providers from making exceptions for individual services. This also affected Facebook's "Free Basics" offer, which provided access to some education, health and job services in addition to the world's largest online network. Other network services were not accessible via "Free Basic".

On Monday, the industry regulator TRAI referred to strict implementation of the rules on so-called net neutrality, according to which all data in the networks must be treated equally.

It is a painful defeat for Facebook - the US company had run a massive PR campaign in the country in recent weeks in view of the impending ban and called on users to support "Free Basics".

The service is part of the Internet.org initiative launched by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, which aims to bring billions of people online. Among other things, drones with antennas are to be used in remote areas.

Facebook is dependent on new internet users from developing and emerging countries in order to continue its rapid growth. He hopes to have five billion members by 2030, Zuckerberg said at a recent appearance. The network currently has around 1.6 billion users. (SDA/uma)

Clear Channel: Digital outdoor advertising launched in Zurich

At the beginning of February, Clear Channel put the ten new digital premium screens into operation at top locations in the city of Zurich.

At an event, Clear Channel's guests were able to experience the recently launched digital premium screens in the city of Zurich: The Züri-Partytram took them on a round trip from Bellevue via Bahnhofquai to Escher-Wyss-Platz.

Jürg Rötheli, Vice President Central Europe and CEO of Clear Channel Switzerland, expressed his delight at the event: "Clear Channel has clearly set itself the goal of providing its customers with a premium digital offering and continuously expanding it. With our new first-class screens in Zurich, we are committing ourselves to the digital future of the out-of-home market in Switzerland. I am particularly pleased that we can offer such a product exclusively to our customers in Zurich."

Jung von Matt/Limmat: "The Post is where the people are".

In new TV commercials, Bastian Baker discovers just how innovative the Post is today.

The experiential campaign, in which Bastian Baker tries out and demonstrates all postal services, continues even after the end of the completely sold-out concert tour.

In two new TV commercials, Post Baker proves how innovative and close to its customers it is today. Sometimes it is even too innovative for Baker: his new instrument request is not supported by the band and is immediately corrected at the post office in the neighborhood store. And Baker makes intensive use of the free WiFi in the postbus - too intensive for the chauffeur's taste.

With the campaign designed by Jung von Matt/Limmat, Swiss Post makes its services at the interface between the digital and physical worlds come alive, highlighting its countless new access points for postal customers.

Woz readers solve crossword puzzles differently

Leo Burnett has launched a new branding campaign for the weekly newspaper under the slogan: «If you want to form your own opinion, read the WOZ.».

As an independent media title, the left-wing weekly highlights political, economic as well as social issues week after week, far from the uniformity of the Swiss media, the agency says in a statement. Thus, Woz readers even afford their own opinion when filling out crossword puzzles - to be seen in the new image campaign, developed by Leo Burnett Switzerland.

The campaign has been running since December 2015 and takes the form of advertisements, e-boards and short cinema spots.

The magic is in the details

At first glance, Dearzurich.com is a declaration of love for Zurich. But there’s more to it than just a tribute to the hometown of the digital agency Y7K.

Last summer, one heat wave after another swept across the Limmatstadt. People retreated to places to cool down; a little shade and something to drink, that's all they needed. It happened during a walk through the smoldering streets when the guys from Y7K realized: Zurich is a wonderful city, but the real beauty is hidden in its details. In everyday life, however, we notice little of it because of all the hustle and bustle.

Last week Dearzurich.com went live. On the website you can find yourself randomly in 25 different places of the Zwinglistadt. The film footage was realized by Y7K in collaboration with director Tobias Kubli. They capture the atmosphere in the city, on one of those hot summer days. Ruben Feurer from Y7K explains, "It's meant to convey the feeling of a spontaneous exploration tour, where you never know exactly what surprises the next corner will hold..."

Y7K hopes that more people will rediscover their own city. The website is a personal project and not intended as a travel guide or recommendation for places in Zurich. Therefore, apart from GPS coordinates, no information leads to the places shown. Awaken your inner explorer and take a new path for once. Who knows what you will find there.

Christoph Glaus becomes Digital & Telecom media spokesman

The Swiss online comparison service comparis.ch is continuing to expand its telecommunications division and has brought Christoph Glaus on board as its new media spokesperson for Digital & Telecom.

With immediate effect, the 29-year-old will take over the editorial team's communications work and media representation for all aspects of digital and telecommunications. "We will expand the existing telecoms area into a content platform for all topics from the digital space, in which the classic tariff comparison will continue to play an important role," says Comparis CEO Paul Kummer, explaining the strategy. "We see great potential in combining our classic comparison functions with cross-media content from the very dynamic and broad-based digital sector."

After working as a journalist for the Basler Zeitung newspaper, Christoph Glaus was most recently responsible for advising international technology and telco companies at Richterich & Partner. "We are delighted to have found a media spokesperson in Christoph Glaus who combines technical expertise and strong communication skills and knows the market and the various players in the industry inside out," says Paul Kummer.

Ralf Beyeler, Comparis' former telecoms expert, is leaving the company at the end of March after almost 14 years to pursue new professional challenges. His assessments of the volatile telco environment were always appreciated by journalists and earned him a reputation as a profound telecoms expert. "Ralf Beyeler built up the telecoms division at comparis.ch and helped shape the brand with his expertise. We would like to thank Ralf Beyeler for his great commitment and

Ricola: weakening repositioning of the brand?

«The Ricola «Chrüterchraft» campaign isn't working,» writes *Der Sonntag*. At the very least, the enthusiasm for Chrüterchraft has noticeably waned over the past three years.

It's been three years since the "who invented it" man preceded the typical Ricola shout. Instead, people around the world were to become familiar with the word "Chrüterchraft". It doesn't sound quite so euphoric today, according to Sonntag. Ricola is quietly and secretly crawling back.

"Anchoring the artificial word Chrüterchraft is not our primary goal, but rather to strengthen the consumer's perception of herbs," says Ricola spokeswoman Linda Hufschmid, putting the earlier intentions into perspective. One simply has to judge the performance of the campaign differently: In Italy it works very well, in Thailand less so.

In fact, Ricola is sticking to the Chrüterchraft strategy. The yellow that has been characteristic of the herbal sugar up to now is again being replaced more often by green - in keeping with the herbal claim. This is particularly evident on the website, writes the Sontag further. As an insider told Sonntag, this step had been highly controversial internally for a long time. The owner family would have wanted to hold on to the dominant yellow appearance despite "Chrüterchraft".

However, the characteristic yellow packaging will remain, as Hufschmid told Sonntag. The website, on the other hand, will be greener. (uma/sunday)

Last but not least: 17 tons of ice on the A5

A 17-metric-ton glacier is traveling along the A 5… The big question is: How much does this ice giant weigh exactly, and how much of it has melted since yesterday?

From Wednesday, February 10, Radio Regenbogen will be touring Baden and the Palatinate with a gigantic block of ice. The icy work of art is currently receiving its finishing touches at a specialist company near Munich, and on Sunday and Shrove Tuesday Radio Regenbogen will be presenting the cold monster at the carnival parades in Ludwigshafen and Karlsruhe. Whoever answers the question: "Exactly how heavy is the ice giant, how much has melted away since the day before?" will win up to 10,000 euros every morning.

The Radio Rainbow Glacier will be touring Baden and the Pfahlz in the coming weeks. He is enthroned like a diva on the show stage, accompanied by an extravagant show of light, hot sounds and tricky quiz questions for the audience. But why actually?

The Radio Rainbow Glacier will weigh around 17 tons at the start of its tour - from then on, only the weathermen will know what is in store for the glacier ice. Listeners to the radio station can get an exact picture of the ice monster every day between 12.00 and 15.00 at one of the 20 stations and then decide: How heavy will the Radio Rainbow Glacier be the next morning at 7.00 a.m. when the digital scales measure its exact weight? Tips can be given directly on site or on the Internet at Rainbow.com be handed in.

Listeners can find out where the 40-ton truck with the ever lighter Radio Regenbogen glacier stops every day on the Radio Regenbogen program and on Regenbogen.de. The glacier was produced with electricity from photovoltaics, the truck runs on biodiesel. (uma)

Berner Oberland Medien cuts 4.5 jobs

Starting June 1, the Thuner Tagblatt and Berner Oberländer newspapers will partially merge their editorial staffs. This will result in the elimination of 4.5 positions.

Oberland Medien, which is 50 percent owned by Tamedia, justifies the move with declining circulation and lower advertising revenues. Managing Director Konrad Maurer confirmed a corresponding statement by the journalists' association Impressum on Friday. However, there can be no question of a thinning out of media diversity, as Impressum writes, Maurer emphasized to the news agency SDA. "We will offer almost the same product."

The editorial team in Interlaken will now focus exclusively on reporting on the eastern Oberland. The western Oberland will now be covered from Thun. This will enable savings to be made in terms of shifts. 130 of the 450 full-time equivalents relate to the elimination of the secretariat in Interlaken.

The standard Tamedia redundancy plan will be applied to those affected. Maurer assumes that 160 job percentages can be reduced through voluntary reductions in workload.

The two titles have been managed by a joint editor-in-chief since January 2016. The 45-year-old Stefan Geissbühler previously headed the Thuner Tagblatt. The national section of both papers is sourced from the Berner Zeitung. Oberland Medien is 50 percent owned by Tamedia and 50 percent by Schläf-li&Maurer. (SDA)
