Personnel growth at Evoq

The Evoq agency has brought Christoph Stalder, Judith Knapp, and Nadine Burri on board.

After several years at Gottschalk+Ash Int'l and Interbrand, Christoph Stalder joined the Evoq team in September. Judith Knapp is also working as a designer and project manager. Since the beginning of December, her experience gained at Interbrand and Hotz&Hotz Identity Design, among others, has been flowing into our team. Last but not least, our back office also has a new face. Nadine Burri, who has a degree in German studies, will be working as a team assistant and is responsible for managing the website and the brand poster.

Last but not least: Fairy tale gangbang

A funny little mix-up in China: A new edition of Grimm's Fairy Tales was intended to boost sales of the book. Unfortunately, however, instead of the actual German collection of fairy tales, a pornographic version of the book was translated—one in which, for example, Snow White has sex with the seven dwarfs.

Oh shame! Of course, all copies were immediately removed from the bookshelves. A representative of the publisher apologized for not being able to find the original version. So they took a Japanese edition instead. Really stupid. But after all, you don't look for Grimm's fairy tales in Japan. Although: The translated Japanese interpretation of the book would probably have made the cash registers ring louder than the original version.

Mediaparx: Philipp Akeret becomes CEO ad interim

The Bern-based online agency Mediaparx, with offices in Biel and Zurich, is restructuring its organization.

According to Mediaparx CEO Anton Hofmann, the management situation is changing as a result of increasingly complex projects and planned growth. As acquisition, project and management tasks were previously combined in the hands of the managing partners, a separation of project and company management tasks is obvious, says Hofmann.
The three working partners of Mediaparx have decided to hand over the management of the company to Philipp Akeret on an interim basis from January 1, 2011. Philipp Akeret is a partner at Schweizerische Treuhandgesellschaft and has many years of experience in business development and the repositioning of companies. As CEO ad interim, Akeret's first task is to prepare the management and structures for the planned growth. His second task is to support Mediaparx in the search for an industry insider who will take over the management of the company as managing partner.
The separation of functions also serves to decouple management from the Board of Directors. Anton Hofmann will remain on the Board of Directors and will focus on web application projects and corporate social communities in future.

La Folie: Tim Schlichting takes the helm

La Folie founders Viktor Calabro and Sasha Badiali have handed the reins to Tim Schlichting, who will now be responsible for day-to-day operations.

Calabro and Badiali will now increasingly focus on the direction and expansion of the agency and will also concentrate on the areas of sales and marketing, as detailed in a press release on Wednesday. Tim Schlichting, who has been Event Manager at La Folie for almost two years, can look back on eleven years of experience in the event industry. Among other things, he has already spent several years in the management of a "renowned event agency", according to the press release.

Visual flight advisor days auctioned on Ricardo.ch

To mark the launch of Sichtflug, owner Werner Mäder has come up with something special: he is auctioning off consulting days on Ricardo.ch.

The first few months of a communications agency's life are always the most difficult, according to a press release issued on Thursday. Capacity utilization is still inadequate and the first payments from clients for work performed often only occur after several weeks. Sichtflug is now going its own way to quickly increase capacity utilization and improve liquidity: A total of ten consultant days are being auctioned on Ricardo.ch from now until December 17. The minimum bid for one day is CHF 1600 as an introductory offer. Auctioned days can be redeemed until the end of July 2011.
Sichtflug supports small and medium-sized companies as a navigator in everyday life and in communicatively uncertain or complex situations, analyzes the initial situation and accompanies companies in the development and implementation of strategies and concepts in the areas of corporate identity, corporate literature, classic media work, online communication and social media.

SRG: Additional income thanks to advertising and consistent fee collection

As of January 1, 2011, the SRG will be allowed to air more commercials. The maximum advertising time will increase from the current 8 percent to 15 percent. However, this does not mean that television viewers will now be exposed to nearly twice as many commercials.

These are purely theoretical values, said SRG media spokesman Daniel Steiner when asked by the SDA news agency. Advertising time is restricted by additional regulations. For example, no more than 12 minutes of advertising may be broadcast per hour. The regulations for prime time from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. also remain the same, according to which advertising breaks are permitted every 90 minutes. "However, we generate 70 to 80 percent of our advertising revenue during this period in particular," said Steiner. Steiner described the profit that SRG can make from the new advertising regulations as marginal. SRG adapts the advertising to the program schedule and not vice versa.
The Federal Council decided to relax the advertising rules in summer 2010. At that time, the idea of increasing reception fees was rejected. Instead, the government was prepared to make concessions on advertising. SRG is dependent on additional income as it is in the red.
Consistent enforcement of the obligation to pay fees
The public broadcaster's accounts are also to be improved through consistent enforcement of the obligation to pay fees. The measure is aimed at companies, of which the Federal Office of Communications estimates that not even half pay the fees.
When the Federal Council announced the stricter practice, the Swiss Trade Association (sgv) was very outraged. Sgv spokesman Patrick Lucca had stated that it was offensive that the Federal Council wanted to collect the money from SMEs. Lucca also objected to the fact that those affected were already paying the fees as private individuals. If the company now also had to pay, this would be a double fee.
In 2011, consumers will receive mail from Billag only once for the first time. The company responsible for collecting the fees previously sent out invoices on a quarterly basis. The printing, postage and payment costs saved as a result are estimated at 9 to 10 million. Anyone wishing to continue paying the reception fees on a quarterly basis will have to pay an additional two francs per bill.

Trade Published today as a story magazine

The industry-specific trade magazine Handel Heute is published exclusively with fictional short stories.

Various freelance journalists were asked by the editorial team to write fictional stories that revolved around the retail trade in the broadest sense. The result is a story magazine with a wide variety of ideas, forms and reading material that is very different from what subscribers are used to from their industry business magazine.
For the short stories, Handel Heute has removed all the sections that normally contain editorial articles from the magazine. Only the short industry news items at the start of the magazine have been retained.
According to its own information, Handel Heute is the largest trade magazine for the Swiss retail trade. Published six times a year, each issue reaches around 75,900 readers. The Pepper information agency, headed by Reto Wüthrich, is responsible for the editorial office.
