Gerber: Rapper Gimma rants against Ländler

In the new online video for the Gerber fondue campaign, rapper Gimma takes on a traditional Ländler group.

The Gimma clip and other episodes form the core of the "Gerber brings Switzerland to the table" campaign. The Swiss fondue brand is currently focusing on prominent Swiss personalities in the leading roles. The traditional Gerber brand is celebrating its 100th anniversary next year. Reason enough to bring Switzerland to the table. In witty online videos, which can be seen on Gerber-plausch.ch, very different people with different views come together to later celebrate a fondue together.
This is also the case in the latest episode, when Graubünden rapper Gimma and his gang meet up with a traditional Ländler regulars' table. After initial difficulties and bickering between the rival groups, the joint singing of the "Fondue-Plausch-Song" finally creates a relaxed atmosphere.
Celebrities and spectacle can also be expected in the next two episodes. Shortly before Christmas, the episode "Fondue for One" will be released in the style of "Dinner for One". Orange Discontinues Service on Zurich's Fiber-Optic Network

Orange is discontinuing its services on the City of Zurich's fiber-optic network. With this move, the pioneer is leaving the information superhighway of the future, just as Swisscom has recently joined it.

Orange was the first provider of TV, internet, and phone services on the EWZ fiber-optic network, but had attracted very few customers. Orange stated on Friday, in response to an inquiry from the SDA news agency, that 60 customers would be affected by the shutdown. To ensure these customers aren’t left high and dry, Orange has recommended that they switch to the TV, phone, and internet services offered by cable network operator GGA Maur, which also provides its services on the EWZ fiber-optic network.
The reason for the withdrawal from the fiber-optic network of the City of Zurich’s electricity utility, EWZ, was said to be Orange’s strategic realignment. In June, following the collapse of its merger with Sunrise, the France Telecom subsidiary announced that it would focus in the future on mobile offerings and services for cell phones, tablets, and computers.

Program Committee: An Authentic Work Environment Depicted in the Bernese Alps

The TV series «Off to the Alp: How City Dwellers Become Alpine Herdsmen» on Swiss television SF has received mostly positive reviews from the SRG Bern Fribourg Valais Programming Commission. It authentically depicted life and work in and with nature on the three Bernese alpine pastures, provided a wealth of information, and did not shy away from showing the difficulties and hardships.

Between September 3 and October 8, 2010, the DOK program on Swiss television SF aired the five-part series «Off to the Alp: How City Dwellers Become Alpine Herders.» The commission was impressed by the achievements of the women and men, all of whom came from other professions and chose to spend a summer season on the alp. The series received an overall positive evaluation. For the commission, it conveyed a wealth of information as well as emotion and unexpected moments; it showcased impressive, beautiful imagery set to the mystical sounds of the alphorn, while also not glossing over the less pleasant aspects. It addressed an issue that is a pressing concern for many farmers throughout the Alpine region: the lack of young people entering the alpine herding profession.
The programming committee could also have envisioned covering the entire topic in a shorter series. Although the series provided a great deal of information even for experts, the programming committee felt that background information was lacking. Ultimately, it raised the question of where to schedule the series. The five episodes of the Alp series would have been a perfect fit for the «SF bi de Lüt» time slot, and the committee did not consider them to be true documentaries in the traditional sense, but rather reality television.
