Product Manager Michael Göldi is responsible for the new division. In addition to the introduction of the new products, Michael Göldi is responsible for customer analyses in the area of search engine research. Michael Göldi brings years of experience from the research area Public & Society (Institute fög, University of Zurich).

Last but not least: The personal gift

The Dutch airline KLM has created a somewhat different kind of social media campaign that has left many passengers surprised, but mostly smiling.

Anyone who tweeted about their upcoming flight with KLM or logged in to KLM via Foursquare was, with a bit of luck, tracked down by a KLM employee and surprised with a small gift. But not with a boring, impersonal promotional gift - the present was tailored to the person in question and fit like a glove. For example, a man who had tweeted that he was flying to Mexico to build houses for the homeless as part of a project was presented with, among other things, remedies for overworked muscles and energy sweets; another gentleman who had tweeted from an iPad that he would be flying with KLM was surprised with a voucher for the App Store, and a young woman whose profile showed that she enjoyed sport received a Nike distance meter.

Nice campaign, which incidentally once again clearly shows us that statements after being published on Twitter and co. really are public ...

JvM/Limmat: Graubünden Ibexes comment on Bernese Ibex Paul

Since 2007, the two ibexes Gian and Giachen talk about everything that comes under their horns. They mock bikers, skiers, snowboarders and the fog. Shortly before Christmas, the two noticed the Bernese ibex Paul.

Metzgerlehner for Phonak: promoting the contact lens for the ear

The Metzgerlehner agency has launched a new campaign for Phonak designed to raise awareness of the Lyric miniature hearing aid.

While other hearing aids are placed behind the ear or in the pinna, Lyric sits directly in front of the eardrum and is therefore invisible, according to a statement from Metzgerlehner. The idea was implemented in print, POS and digital media.

Starbucks: New logo without company name and "coffee

Starbucks is changing its long-standing logo and dropping the company name and the word "coffee". The majority of experts were critical of this move.

The new logo of the world's largest coffee house chain, which was unveiled on Wednesday according to the SDA news agency, is green and, as before, shows a siren - a mythical creature that dragged sailors to their deaths. It is the first time since Starbucks went public in 1992 that the company has changed its logo.

For some experts, the coffee giant's move is not without danger. They recall the failed attempt by the clothing company Gap to do without the name in its logo. However, the change is unlikely to have any impact on coffee sales for the time being, say other American advertising experts. Meanwhile, the number of critical voices from self-proclaimed Starbucks fans on the company's website is increasing. Many are demanding the name back in the logo, or at least want to see the word "coffee" in the logo.

Starbucks boss Howard Schultz defended the move: "Although we will always be a coffee company, it is possible that we will offer other products without coffee in them in the future." Starbucks is just one of many companies that manage without a name in their logo - Nike or Apple, for example. The company launched the campaign to mark the 40th anniversary of the opening of its first coffee house in Seattle in 1971.

Farner Communication Index clearly up for the first time in four years

The communications budgets of the 500 largest Swiss companies are once again rising significantly. Four out of five companies plan to invest more—or at least as much—in communications in 2011 as they did the previous year.

With a value of 78 points, the Farner Communication Index almost reaches the level of 2008, after having dropped to 61 points in the intermediate years. The index level is virtually identical for German- and French-speaking Switzerland.

"With the typical delay within the economic cycle, the communications industry is also beginning to regain its footing," Christian König, CEO of Farner Consulting, was quoted as saying in a statement. "Newly launched campaigns and the announced 2011 election budgets illustrate the newly awakened willingness to invest in communications."

The Farner Communications Index is based on a representative survey of the 500 largest companies in Switzerland, conducted by the Isopublic Institute. The index has been collected annually since 2003.

Four federal house editorial offices join forces

The four federal government newsrooms of the *Tages-Anzeiger*, *Der Bund*, *24 heures*, and *Tribune de Genève* have been collaborating informally since December. The exchange of articles and information across the language border stems from an initiative by the editorial boards.

On Thursday, the Tages-Anzeiger and the Bund published the first translated article, which appeared on the same day in the French-speaking Swiss daily newspaper 24 heures and in the Tribune de Genève, as the newspapers involved reported in an editorial note.

The exchange is informal, explained Tamedia spokesperson Christoph Zimmer at the request of the SDA news agency. Cooperation across the language border has taken place in a handful of cases so far. It does not represent any organizational change. The complete translation is an exception. The aim is to gain experience. Zimmer explained that the editors-in-chief would decide how to proceed in six months' time.
