Facebook presents business figures to investors - IPO expected

Facebook has quietly released its financial results for the first time. Investors are hoping for the long-awaited initial public offering.

From January to September, Facebook achieved a profit of 355 million dollars - on sales of 1.2 billion dollars. According to SDA, this is little compared to the company's value, which is estimated at 50 billion dollars, but it corresponds to a return of almost 30 percent.

The data is in a good hundred-page prospectus from investment bank Goldman Sachs, which was distributed to potential investors on Thursday. According to a recipient, the financials are unaudited and offer little detail on how Facebook generates its revenue. Investors were required to sign a confidentiality agreement.

Goldman Sachs itself is investing $450 million in the social network and raising at least $1.5 billion from clients who want to join. The shares are selling like hot cakes: The house has received inquiries for stakes totaling "several billion dollars," the Wall Street Journal reported.

Investors are to invest at least $2 million each and pledge not to sell before 2013. By Friday, the now customers must decide whether they want to invest in the company founded in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg in a Harvard University dorm room and transfer the money by Tuesday.

Should the number of investors reach 500, Facebook would have to publish balance sheet figures like a listed company. This limit is likely to be exceeded this year, the Goldman Sachs document said. This is seen as a first step on the way to an IPO, which the industry is eagerly awaiting.

UBI partially approves complaint against TVO

The Independent Complaints Authority for Radio and Television (UBI) has upheld a complaint against TVO's "Fokus" program. However, it rejected the complaint against three reports from "Ostschweiz aktuell" by the same broadcaster.

In the "Fokus" programme, TVO Managing Director André Moesch discussed the issue with the then President of the St. Gallen cantonal government Josef Keller - both supporters of a licence for TVO. According to the UBI, it was not apparent "that the question of the effects of media concentration in the region was of fundamental importance and controversial".

The point of view of competitor Tele Säntis was not expressed, although Tele Säntis was "mentioned several times in a negative context". The presenter also failed to counterbalance the tendentious nature of the broadcast, writes the UBI.

According to the UBI, TVO also reported one-sidedly on the concession issue in three shorter news reports. However, these reports did not violate the requirement of objectivity because the facts were correct and the lack of representativeness of surveys was recognizable to viewers.

KSB draws attention to first FSC-certified diaper for Coop

The KSB agency has created an ad campaign designed to promote Coop Oecoplan's first FSC-certified diaper.

Since August 2010, Coop has been offering the first FSC-certified diaper in Switzerland. This means that the raw material for the diapers comes from exemplary, FSC-certified forestry. In addition, the diaper is bleached without chlorine and is produced using green electricity. Overall, the new Oecoplan diaper has 30 percent less impact on the environment than conventional disposable diapers.

Coop is drawing attention to the new diaper with an ad. The motif, created by the KSB agency, takes up the theme in an ambiguous way: The diaper is intended for the offspring, but also provides offspring itself - namely in the form of renewable trees in the FSC-certified forests that supply the raw material.

The advertisement appears in the current Verde magazine, in the Coop and daily press.

Press Council: Complaint against Sonntag partially approved

The Swiss Press Council has partially upheld a complaint filed by a private citizen against the *Sonntag*. An article published on June 27, 2010, had made allegations against a resident of Thurgau without giving the person in question an opportunity to be heard.

In doing so, the newspaper violated the Declaration of Duties and Rights of Journalists, which requires a hearing in cases of serious allegations, the Press Council wrote in its statement published Friday, according to SDA.

Under the title "This stuff must finally go", Sonntag had reported on a pilot case brought by two judges from Aargau against a man from the canton of Thurgau for violations of personality on the Internet. The Thurgauer published on his website "Children without rights", among other things, reports on child abuse and criticism of the decisions of the judiciary, cantonal and municipal authorities, the report continued.

The Thurgau-based judge would put people who had not decided in his favor on a "black list" - with a picture, complete business and private address, and usually also with the cell phone number. The two judges were also on this list, the article continued. The Thurgauer linked the names of those listed with critical articles from various, "partly also obscure sources". Because the man's homepage is also accessible via addresses such as "Chindlifresser", "Kinderhandel" or "Kinderklau", the consequences for those affected are fatal.

On August 27, 2010, the Thurgau resident complained to the Press Council about the newspaper article. The latter now concedes that the duty to hear the complaint was disregarded. Beyond that, however, the complaint is rejected. Neither the principle of truth nor the presumption of innocence had been violated.

With regard to the complainant's objection to the use of his name, the Press Council notes that the person in question explicitly addresses the public on his various websites. In addition, he regularly comments on children's rights issues in the media under his own name. Therefore, this point of complaint is also rejected.

Wunderman: Global launch campaign for the latest generation of Phonak hearing aids

Wunderman, in collaboration with other specialists from the Y&R Group, has launched a campaign for the Swiss hearing aid manufacturer Phonak.

According to the agency's statement, the naming concept was developed on the one hand, which will extend from the generation to the product families it contains. On the other hand, the strategic basis was defined in order to take the complex topic of the new generation to a new level in terms of communication.

The campaign, which is primarily aimed at a B2B audience in a first step, stages the core message of "intense hearing delight": a total of six "Sculptumes" (a verbal symbiosis of costume and sculpture) are used to personify and convey the special listening experience. For the realization of these Sculptumes, Wunderman was able to win over the New York-based performance artist, choreographer, dancer and costume designer Amy Goodheart, who managed the feat of bringing emotions into a new form with the realization of "Bird", "Origami", "Pop-Up", "Water", "Fireworks", "Plush" and "Water". Each of the six Sculptumes was brought to life with dancers, simultaneously assuming the role of a representative for the product families contained within the Spice Generation.

All campaign visuals and super-slow-motion film sequences were produced at a shoot in New York in January 2010. This laid the foundation for the long-term implementation of comprehensive communication measures: At this stage, these include B2B brochures and advertisements, short films for seminars and roadshows, POS materials, elements for trade fair stands, online communication media, B2C flyers and mailings. The Spice Generation, and therefore also the campaign, made its first public appearance in October 2010 at the 55th International Congress of Hearing Aid Acousticians in Hanover (EUHA).

McCann Erickson: New commercial for Coca-Cola Zero

McCann Erickson has created a new TV and cinema spot for Coca-Cola Zero. The declared goal is to further increase loyalty to the brand among mainly male consumers.

Also the new spot "The Date" is set in the Coke Zero adventure world, where anything is possible. This time, the hero is brought to his date just in time by a swat team in an action fireworks show, where he has an annoying would-be Casanova unceremoniously taken away, and then flies off with his beloved.

The local implementation with adaptation of the spots was carried out by McCann Erickson Zurich. The TV, cinema and digital spots have been broadcast since December 27, 2010.

Responsible at McCann Erickson: Annika Seidel and Christiane Hahn (consulting), Marcus Josty (AD), Sascha Borsai (text/concept). Responsible at Coca-Cola Switzerland: Christoph Reitmeir, Brand Activation Manager.
