KSB serves up a cookbook

The editorial department at KSB Krieg Schlupp Bürge already produces brochures and annual reports, as well as books on watches, jewelry, and art, at a rapid pace. Now, Christoph Bürge, co-owner of KSB, had the idea to create a cookbook.

In ten chapters, Christoph Bürge cooks as an amateur chef for the true experts at the dinner table, the agency writes in a statement. Italian for Italian grandmothers, meat for the motorcycle club, light meals for models or hearty dishes for construction workers can be found in the book, as well as game for hunters or fish for fishermen. In each case, cooking was done on a mobile kitchen on site at the dining table experts throughout Switzerland.

Edipresse sells TV commitments to Pro TV Ventures

The Edipresse publishing group is selling its television holdings. Its stakes in the local broadcaster Vaud Fribourg TV and the television advertising company Ecran P&P are being sold to Pro TV Ventures.

The move is in line with Tamedia's corporate policy, which is withdrawing from the television business with the sale of local stations Tele Bärn and Tele Züri. As Edipresse announced on Friday evening, the buyer of the shares had already previously held stakes in the two divested companies. Edipresse held 23 percent of Vaud Fribourg TV and 18 percent of Ecran P&P. The boards of directors of both companies have been informed, according to the release. The deal still requires the approval of the Swiss Federal Department of Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications (Uvek) due to the television concession. The approval of the other shareholders is also required. Closing is scheduled for the first half of 2012.

Pirate campaign: Swiss posters pasted over

"Special flights from CHF 8999 - Only outward flight possible": This can currently be read on some of the posters of the airline Swiss. Unknown people are using the stickers to protest against repatriation flights. Swiss is aware of the campaign, but is currently not responding.

Some Swiss posters with the airline's current advertising slogan "Only cheap is too cheap for us" were pasted over with the red note in the city of Bern, for example. The modified poster also reads: "Go back to your home country in comfort - at the expense of the Swiss Confederation". The posters also featured a picture of a deportee tied to a chair and wearing a helmet.

Swiss spokesperson Jean-Claude Donzel is aware of the campaign, as he explained to the SDA news agency on Friday. The pasting began a few weeks ago in French-speaking Switzerland. Donzel suspects that the activists took up the glue brush in the wake of the documentary Vol Spécial by Fernand Melgar. The film documents the practice of deporting rejected asylum seekers. The legal service has been informed, said Donzel. However, the airline is refraining from taking legal action against the pirate action. No one has yet claimed responsibility. The Swiss spokesperson emphasized that his airline, like other airlines, does carry out deportation flights, but only at the behest of the federal government. The company had no other choice.

SRG continues to publish trend surveys before votes

The SRG will continue to publish trend polls ahead of federal referendums during the upcoming 2011–2015 legislative period. The GFS Bern research institute has once again been entrusted with conducting the surveys.

SRG has been conducting regular trend surveys in the run-up to votes since 1998. As always before the start of a new legislative period, the SRG Conference of Chief Editors again invited research institutes in Switzerland to apply to conduct the surveys. A careful evaluation process among the bids received showed that GFS Bern best met the requirements in terms of quality, price and the needs of the SRG corporate units in all parts of the country and all media (television, radio and online) overall, according to a statement. The Bern-based institute will again conduct trend surveys on behalf of SRG for the first time before the federal vote on March 11, 2012.

Increased number of interviews and more transparency

In order to improve trend statements about opinion formation in French and Italian-speaking Switzerland, the number of interviews in these language regions will be increased in the future. The data sets generated by the interviews are valuable basic material for academics researching the direct-democratic opinion-forming process. For this reason, SRG and JRC Berne have agreed that in future the raw data from the surveys will be made available in full to the chairs of the Universities of Berne, Geneva and Zurich entrusted with the Vox follow-up survey and analysis. The Vox follow-up surveys are conducted on behalf of the Federal Chancellery and are analyzed and published alternately by the three universities. The SRG and JRC Bern are striving for closer cooperation with the above-mentioned institutions in the area of voting research.

At the beginning of 2010, SRG temporarily stopped publishing poll results from GFS Bern. The reason was an incorrect forecast prior to the federal vote on the minaret ban

Y&R Group: Overlayer developed for the Audi A5

The Y&R Group has developed an overlay banner for Audi. The ad promotes Audi's new A5 model.

"Sharpened - in form and performance" is the motto under which Audi launched the new A5. Modern technologies in the engines, chassis and infotainment as well as the revised design are intended to enhance the A5 series. The Y&R Group has developed an overlay banner for Audi that implements the campaign idea digitally. When visiting news platforms such as 20min.ch or Tages-anzeiger.ch, an Audi A5 drives into the picture and cuts open the page content.

This is intended to move away from the familiar catering aesthetic, which usually depicts images of past events. All print media such as brochures, flyers and stationery will be adapted to the new imagery. The new homepage is scheduled for release at the end of November.

Aionics realizes the new Gürth Design website

A few days ago, the Zurich-based branding and design agency Gürth Design launched its brand-new website. The technical implementation was carried out by the Tyo3 specialists at the web agency Aionics.

The Guerth.ch website impresses with its reduction to the most essential content and an elegant and timeless design in black and white. The centerpiece is the presentation of the work examples, which can be found in as few steps as possible and can also be viewed optimally by scrolling on mobile devices. The technical implementation was realized using Typo3.

Spiked: Top, the advertising is valid!

Andreas Panzeri, deputy editor-in-chief of *Werbewoche*, on awards and jury evaluations.

In the last days before Christmas, a golden radiance and glow pours over all the station streets of this world. The glitter of Christmas decorations reminds us every year that Christmas shopping is not the only thing that is just around the corner. Tying up the package with the creative ranking will also once again create emotionally charged moods in our editorial department. "Most advertising agencies neglect their self-promotion. They only preach that to their clients," noted Werbewoche in a recent article. It is probably to be explained by a "guilty conscience" in this regard that shortly before the start of the new year, at least a resolution is made that one wants to tackle it more actively in the coming 2012. One last opportunity to do this before New Year's Eve is the creative ranking. The telephone wires are running hot to make sure that everything comes out right. In fact, during this Advent season, well-known agencies have already asked us for an advance copy of this ranking, because a decisive presentation has snowed into their homes once again in December. We are happy to provide this service and feel flattered as a reference, of course. However, just as the school grades in the final report do not reveal everything about a student's true talent, the creative ranking is also not a clean bill of health for neatly designed advertising. Last week I was able to spend four exciting days in Paris. Representatives of 25 trade journals were there as jurors for the Epica Awards, reviewing some 3800 pieces of work. From 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., we clutched an electronic scoreboard and pressed scores between 1 and 10. To form this opinion, the rules allowed us five seconds each between the presentation of two spots or posters. These subjects followed each other in a fast but fair rhythm non-stop throughout the day.

"Every day, more than 3,000 advertising messages hit people," says a finding from advertising research that has already been quoted many times. From this point of view, it is therefore certainly correct if we wanted to generate similar spontaneous reactions in the Epicas for rating. However, this led to a few perplexing results. A Nike film, which was celebrated with gold at all the "important" festivals in the world, still couldn't make it off the shortlist in Paris even after voting twice. It's a gripping film. But is it really the highest of all film arts to be able to capture the more or less unmissable emotions in a seething soccer stadium with three dozen cameras? Isn't it much more of a creative craft if the little figures in a doll's house are shot in thousands of frames in such a way that the finally moving dolls still move the viewer to tears even after the fifth viewing of the film? As is well known, there is no accounting for taste. Thus, even Wunderman's perfect subjects for Phonak, only a few days after the eleven record clios in New York, first won nothing at all in Paris and then, after a corrective round of discussions, still won gold and twice silver. Jung von Matt/Limmat fared similarly. Only in the discussion was the Facebook action for Obermutten rewarded with a well-deserved silver. All this haggling in the "tie-break" finally resulted in Switzerland winning not 7 - as reported on Monday - but 19 Epicas this year. The accounting for the creative ranking gratefully accepts it. And the methods of "advertising research" may continue to be discussed in the future.
