Plan.net: Casinotheater Winterthur new in customer portfolio

To establish a professional presence in the online world, the «three-in-one» Casinotheater Winterthur—which combines a theater, restaurant, and event venue under one roof—has entrusted Plan.Net with the task.

It is the declared aim of the Casinotheater Winterthur to take on a pioneering role in the world of small-scale theater and cabaret in terms of online advertising, according to a press release. The cultural institution, which is supported by artists and sympathizers and has been running a year-round theater on its own account and without public funding since 2002, has commissioned Plan.Net Suisse to develop its first online campaign. It is intended to make the unique concept of the Casino Theater, which combines theatrical art, culinary experiences and events under one roof, even better known.

The current campaign promotes the benefit performance of the annual Christmas dinner spectacle "Stille Kracht," which this year will take place on December 10 to benefit 50 years of Amnesty International.

Last but not least: Migros insults Muslims

devout Muslims feel offended by Migros. This is because the oriental bath at a Migros fitness center in Zurich is adorned with calligraphy in Arabic script. Translated, it reads: «Allah is beautiful; He loves beauty.»

No problem in itself, the non-Muslim will think. On the contrary, this lettering is, after all, a compliment to Allah, and Muslims should feel flattered that a Western company like Migros decorates the wall of a bath with these words. Wrong thinking: because women and men spend time together in the hammam and are only covered with a cloth, devout Muslims find the lettering in this place offensive, as the Sonntagszeitung knows. However, as devout Muslims would never dream of entering such a mixed bathroom, the lettering would not actually be a problem. And it wasn't - until Migros recently launched an advertising campaign and the photograph of the "Allah" calligraphy in the bathroom appeared in the free newspaper 20 Minuten. Since then, there has been uproar. Members and sympathizers have been contacting the Islamic Central Council of Switzerland (ICCS), the largest association of devout Muslims in Switzerland, for days. They want to know whether the word "Allah" in a hamam with half-naked people is "halal", i.e. in accordance with the rules. IZRS spokesman Qaasim Illi has had the question clarified by Islamic scholars in Egypt and Kuwait. And now knows the answer: it would be worse to use the lettering used by Migros on the soles of shoes or in toilets, for example. These are clearly unclean places. Well, let's go along with that.

It's a little less bad at Haman, but definitely out of place. Migros, by the way, remains calm despite the hustle and bustle - the decorations stay where they are.

Baz: Does Moritz Suter want to get rid of Blocher?

Moritz Suter, nominally publisher of the Basler Zeitung, wants to sell 70 percent of the shares to readers. His opponent is said to be Christoph Blocher.

He explained the new ownership model he has in mind in a lecture to the Association of Basel Economists on the anniversary of his taking office, writes the newspaper Der Sonntag. A minority of 30 percent is to remain with a small group of shareholders to ensure the stability of the company. Suter is thus taking up a plan of his predecessor Martin Wagner. Wagner had even wanted to float a majority of Baz on the stock exchange. However, like Wagner before him, Suter's hands are tied: As a trustee of anonymous investors, he lacks any room for maneuver.

According to Der Sonntag, Suter has been at loggerheads with his financial backers for months. In confidential one-on-one discussions with personalities from business and politics, Suter has repeatedly indicated that SVP politician Christoph Blocher is his opponent in this matter. When asked about this by Der Sonntag, Suter did not comment.

SDV with new name and revised code of ethics

At its extraordinary general meeting in early December, the Swiss Direct Marketing Association (SDV) adopted a new name and, at the same time, approved revisions to its code of ethics.

Far beyond the Swiss communications industry, the abbreviation "SDV" is now clearly recognized and assigned, the association said in a statement on Friday. Over the years, the abbreviation has become a brand in its own right. Therefore, it will now have a more dominant position in the official spelling of the association's name. As slightly outdated and increasing no longer the effective activity of the enterprises united in the SDV, the term "direct marketing" is considered. It has long since evolved into "dialog marketing," a communication channel that enables active dialog with the customer like no other. While direct marketing only stands for communication in one direction, dialog allows effective contact between supplier and target group at eye level.

The second important proposal of the SDV Board to the Extraordinary General Meeting concerned the adoption of the revised version of the Code of Ethics. The extensive new Code of Ethics is divided into seven sections. The first area contains those guidelines to which all SDV members must adhere. The remaining six areas contain the guidelines for the various areas of activity in dialog marketing. These apply in each case to those members who are active in the corresponding area. For example, Data Base service providers are now subject to stricter data protection and data security guidelines when dealing with the client's data, particularly with regard to its destruction after completion of the order. In the area of unaddressed mailings, the new Code of Ethics creates more clarity and defines what counts as unaddressed mailings on the one hand and so-called free newspapers on the other. The revised Code also precisely delimits what can be attributed to so-called official mailings and how postal delivery is to be carried out in the case of stop stickers. Furthermore, the code on telemarketing in the private sector (B2C), which was drawn up in cooperation with Callnet.ch, has been fully integrated. And with regard to e-mail, SMS and fax, the new Code of Ethics is based on the already very tight legal framework and the stricter UWG, which will come into force in spring 2012.

Moritz Suter calls Sunday edition of Baz fundable

According to publisher Moritz Suter, the management of the Basler Zeitung (BaZ) is convinced that the planned Sunday edition of the BaZ is financially viable. The Sunday edition will generate more revenue and is a «great challenge for the editorial staff,» Suter said.

In an interview with Radio DRS's Regionaljournal on Thursday, Suter was convinced that the advertising market would respond positively to the Sunday edition. The Baz is the only daily newspaper that is published seven times a week.

After Sonntag der AZ-Medien greatly expanded its Basel editorial office, it became necessary for the Baz to react, Suter continued. He wants to continue to publish an independent and autonomous Baz in the future. The Baz will also be published on Sunday from January 8. (SDA)

Draftfcb/Lowe Group: Campaign for Greenpeace

Draftfcb/Lowe Group has launched an integrated campaign for Greenpeace Switzerland. The idea behind it is that, day after day, Greenpeace fights like David against the Goliaths of this world.

Under the motto "Becoming David", the fight is being taken up against Goliath and thus against national and international environmental offenders, as the agency writes in a statement. At the heart of the campaign is a film that aims to show that there is a David in each of us. The film was shot with the production company Who`s McQueen Picture and director Martin Luchsinger. The campaign idea is used from the David mailing to numerous David ads, internal Greenpeace advertising materials such as business cards and name badges of the dialogers to the microsite David-become.ch pulled through.

Greenpeace has been working to protect the environment for 40 years. Among its greatest successes are the end of commercial whaling, the worldwide ban on the disposal of nuclear and chemical waste in the sea, and the renunciation of palm oil from rainforest-destroying production by large corporations. With the "Becoming David" campaign, Greenpeace is taking a new approach that does not rely on the usual shock images, but rather on a positive mass phenomenon and the collective desire for a better world.

Responsible at Draftfcb/Lowe Group: Dennis Lück (ECD), Tizian Walti, Maximilian Kortmann (Text), Frédéric Nogier (AD), Christoff Strukamp, Cinthia Stettler (Graphics), Daniel Tschanz, Mateja Aleksic (Online), Marie-Theres Ott (Client Service Director), Yvonne Friedli (Account Director), Sandra Kopplin (Account Manager). Office Mainaustrasse 21 celebrates Christmas

This year’s Christmas party for the «Mainaustrasse 21 Office Communications Team» kicked off on the first of last month. Werbewoche.ch features photos from the event.

Behind "Kommunikationsfachgruppe Büro Mainaustrasse 21" are around ten independent SMEs in the communications industry, who sometimes pull together and then pull together again. The tense economic situation, which entails advertising squeezes and budget cuts, also has its good sides: it leaves more time for parties and celebrations. This was actively used at the Mainaustrasse. Customers, friends and families turned out in a colorful picture. Typical of the x-mas parties at Mainaustrasse: after a short while, no one could tell them apart.
