Jürg Marquard is interested in Annabelle

Jürg Marquard was interested in Tele Züri. He also has his eye on the magazine Annabelle. He never really understood Christoph Blocher’s involvement in Basel. The 66-year-old revealed this in an interview with the Handelszeitung.

The Tele Züri dossier wasn't the only thing on his desk last year, he tells Handelszeitung. He was also interested in the Tamedia women's magazine Annabelle. He thinks Annabelle is a great title with a great editor-in-chief and a great market position. Marquard is more critical of the sale of the Basler Zeitung. He has never fully understood Christoph Blocher's commitment to the rather red Basel, he says. "What does he want with the Basler Zeitung?" He is also not enthusiastic about Swiss television. "I don't think anyone in the new SRG management, from the Director General of SRG to the new Director of Television and his Head of Entertainment, has any real experience, flair or passion for television entertainment."

Goldbach Interactive: Annual report staged online for Swisscom

As it did last year, Goldbach Interactive has moved Swisscon's annual report from print to the web.

The new online annual report offers more than just the publication of facts and figures required for listed companies, the agency said in a press release. Swisscom's services, "Swissness" and social commitment are also placed at the center of attention. When opening the annual report, the user is taken on a journey through the world of Swisscom in an animation. Goldbach Interactive took the graphic elements of the current image campaign and embedded them in a lively landscape, thus emphasizing the emotional dimension of the company.

Last but not least: The perfect world of Papa Mink

The fur industry is a cruel industry. To make sure we don't forget this, animal welfare organizations regularly shake us up with brutal images. Peta's latest ad takes a completely different approach.

At the center of the 1950s-style film - narrated by Thomas D. - is the Nerz family: Papa Nerz, Mama Nerz and son Nerz. For the latter, one thing is clear: when he grows up, he wants to work in Mr. Nett's fur factory like his father. Everything is so nice there ... At the end of the commercial, however, the viewer is brought back to harsh reality.

Charles Vögele: Future of Til Schweiger as advertising icon open

Following the end of his collaboration with Hollywood stars Penelope and Monica Cruz, it remains to be seen whether German actor Til Schweiger will continue as a brand ambassador for Charles Vögele.

Schweiger's contract runs until the end of the year, Group CEO Frank Beeck said on Tuesday. "We will look at it again in the summer," Beeck told the media in Pfäffikon SZ: "But Schweiger is much closer to our target customers than Penelope was." Charles Vögele had let the cooperation with the two Cruz sisters expire at the end of February.

The actresses did put the group in a brighter light, he said. "But the campaign has unsettled the core audience," Beeck said. The customers would have thought that Charles Vögele was moving towards younger customers and no longer wanted to serve the older ones. (SDA)

Consumer magazines launch federal popular initiative "Pro Service public"

Federal enterprises should not be run for profit, but rather to provide citizens with good, affordable services. That is the view of the consumer magazines K-Tipp, Saldo, Bon à Savoir, and Spendere Meglio. That is why they are launching a popular initiative.

Railroads, Swiss Post, Swisscom & Co. are making ever higher profits, according to a press release. Despite this, prices are constantly rising and services are being cut back. "This development should be stopped. The new motto for these companies should be: Service instead of profit!" said René Schuhmacher, journalistic director of K-Tipp and Saldo, on Tuesday at the presentation of the Initiative in front of the media.

Swiss Post has made billions in profits in recent years, the report continues. From 2007 to 2010, CHF 900 million flowed into the federal coffers. Swisscom has made the cash register ring even more strongly: The federal government received 2.36 billion. This is nothing more than hidden taxes, the initiators criticize. The bill is paid by the citizens who own these companies. Despite profits, the prices of SBB, Swiss Post & Co. are constantly rising - and services are being cut back: counters are closing, trains are being cleaned less and letterboxes are being emptied less. This initiative aims to change that. Good service should be more important to federal companies than profit. The federal government should be prohibited from indirectly levying taxes through excessively high postal, SBB and Swisscom tariffs.

Syndicom is skeptical

Syndicom understands and shares the main motivation of the initiators, according to a statement from the media and communications union. However, Syndicom also wonders what the impact of the strict application of this initiative would be. What financial losses would result for the Confederation? What consequences would this have on the quality of the public service? Could the adoption of the initiative not put pressure on the wages and working conditions of the employees of these companies? And wouldn't this initiative provide an ideal pretext for the gradual privatization of the most profitable units of these former state-run companies? This would leave the state - and taxpayers - to finance the units that perform public service tasks.

For these reasons, Syndicom is skeptical about this initiative, according to the communiqué. The union is convinced that there are more effective ways to protect the interests of users of the public service, as well as those who make it possible.

Euro RSCG Zurich: New image spot for Riposa

The Euro RSCG agency has produced a new image commercial for the Glarus-based company Riposa, in which a couple drifts off into a deep sleep.

In the production of its sleep systems, Riposa relies on technologies that respond to every movement of the person, the agency said in a statement. This not only ensures restful sleep, but also "For a strong back," as the company's claim states.

This positioning has now been interpreted by the agency in charge, Euro RSCG Zurich, in a new image spot - namely in an oversized product demonstration. In the 30-second spot, a young couple lets themselves fall into the depths of sleep. Wherever they then move, they are caught by their mattresses. And they do so all night long. Euro RSCG was able to win over director Marco Lutz for the production. Shining Pictures is responsible as production company.

The TV spot can be seen on all SRG stations in prime time from March 5, 2012.

Responsible at Riposa: Iva Schnellmann (Head of Marketing), Sara Jakober (Marketing Assistant). Responsible at Euro RSCG Zurich: Axel Eckstein (CD), Wolfgang Bark (text/concept), Cara-Anne Specker (art buying), Walter Tagliaferri, Janina Iseli (consulting). Responsible at Shining Pictures: Jens Derler, Stefan Bircher (production management). Marco Lutz (direction), Michael Ricar (music). Overall responsibility: Frank Bodin.

Exxtra: The legend of the Abwandermannli

Exxtra produced a radio spot for Swiss Mountain Aid to highlight the fact that people living in the mountains rely on donations.

Legends have always told of life in the mountains, which harbors a number of dangers, the agency said in a statement. Even today, life in the mountains is not always easy. The problems are simply somewhat different: Migration or outdated infrastructure make everyday life immensely more difficult for mountain dwellers. To draw attention to this, Exxtra wrote the modern legend of the "Abwandermannli", who seduces people in the mountain regions and lures them to the lowlands. The radio spot makes it clear that the mountain population is dependent on donations for the realization of important projects so that a future perspective is possible.

Profeta: Multi-stage campaign for Q Events

As part of the first direct marketing campaign for Q Events, Profeta Kommunikation developed a multi-stage dialogue concept.

The First stage was sent by mail to a heterogeneous target group of 500 medium-sized and large companies. One week after the mailing, the second stage was initiated by attempting to follow up with the companies contacted with the help of a call center. Callpoint Baden was the partner responsible for arranging a visit to the addressees. According to the press release, the target of a 3% response rate was exceeded threefold.

The Q Events claim "we create emotions" was also the reason for the third stage. The aim here is to convince potential customers of the company's services with an interesting and emotional presentation. This phase is carried out by Q Events' own employees and lasts approximately four to eight weeks. This is followed by the "4th dimension" level. The aim here is to recall the target groups contacted after a certain period of time. This phase is tackled in around four to six months.

Responsible at Profeta: Eugen Profeta (concept and consulting), Oskar Gasser (texts), Othmar Gübeli (layout/design/litho). Editing/proofreading: Studiotextart, Conrad Müller. Database management: Sysret Kastrati. Call center: Thomas Fluri and Derek Bollag. Responsible at Q Events: Miroslav Bauer (overall responsibility).

SRG: Significantly more ombudsman cases than in the previous year

In 2011, the Ombudsman's Office of SRG Deutschschweiz received 171 complaints about Swiss Radio and Television broadcasts, nearly a third more than in the previous year.

Ombudsman Achille Casanova and his deputy Sylvia Egli von Matt considered just under a quarter of these to be "more or less justified".

In 50 of the 171 complaints submitted in the 2011 financial year, it was not legally possible to formally address the complaint, according to a press release issued on Tuesday. These complaints were mostly forwarded for direct response. Of the 116 substantive ombudsman cases dealt with, 14 (previous year 17) related to radio, 101 (previous year 84) to television and 1 to other journalistic services, which now also fall within the remit of the ombudsman's office. As in previous years, it was mainly information broadcasts that were the subject of complaints. What is striking, however, is that only six complaints were submitted in connection with the federal elections. Of these, only one was judged to be justified, which indicates the strict observance of the special duties of care in the run-up to elections.

"Tagesschau" had the most complaints

The leader among the television programs with complaints was "Tagesschau" with 18 complaints, followed by "Wort zum Sonntag" and "Einstein" with nine complaints each. In radio, the news programs had the most complaints (3 complaints), followed by "Rendez-vous" and "Echo der Zeit" with two complaints each. Compared to the last three years, the number of cases judged to be "more or less justified" has increased slightly (23%). However, this percentage is below the average of the last 16 years.

Most frequently doubted appropriateness

As in the previous year, the majority of complaints were that a program was inappropriate or politically biased (51%, previous year 42%). A fifth claimed that a program defamed a person, association or company (20 percent, previous year 37 percent). Just under a fifth of complaints related to general objections and technical problems (18%, previous year 7%) and around a tenth complained because a program was deemed sexually offensive or unethical (9%, previous year 8%). Hardly any complaints were made about offending religious feelings (1 percent, previous year 4 percent) or depictions of violence (1 percent, same as previous year). Of the settled complaints, only 13 (previous year: 9) were forwarded to the Independent Complaints Authority (UBI), which confirms the role of the ombudsman's office in relieving the UBI.

The complete 2011 annual report of the SRG.D ombudsman's office and all final reports are available at here can be viewed.
