Last but not least: The flitting parasol

At an outdoor pool in Düsseldorf, a parasol flitted across the lawns as if by magic, offering bathers protection from sunburn. Not only that - the parasol even spoke to them.

What nobody knew was that the perplexed guests were filmed with a hidden camera. Saatchi & Saatchi compiled the curious reactions for Vivesco in an online video to draw attention to the ongoing Sun Weeks in the pharmacies via Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. "Vivesco sees itself as a life companion for its customers. So what could be more natural than to be exactly where they need us most?" says Thomas Hofmann, Managing Director Marketing of the vivesco pharmacy partners.

The mobile parasol is an idea from the Frankfurt-based creative team at Saatchi & Saatchi. "A nice little stunt for Vivesco with which we left the usual communication paths and entered new territory," says Jorg Riommi, Executive CD at Saatchi & Saatchi.

Where the "speedster" will appear next is still being kept secret.

Former Press Council President Criticizes PR Idea of SFOE

Through a call for proposals, the Swiss Federal Office of Energy (SFOE) is seeking an independent journalist who has good contacts with publishers of energy-sector trade journals, editorial offices, bloggers, and universities. For Peter Studer, former president of the Press Council, this is a sensitive issue.

Although the author may publish under his own name, he must "coordinate editorial contributions with the SFOE" and select the topics "in consultation with the SFOE program managers". This is what Sonntag writes. The declared aim is to include a total of 22 articles on the SFOE's services in several publications. "Transparency is an essential prerequisite for the credibility of journalists and editorial offices," Studer said according to Sonntag. The SFOE's contractors should also be expected to label themselves accordingly so that the public knows that the text is written with a positive attitude towards the SFOE and that critical aspects are not to be expected.

This is exactly what the SFOE intends to do, as spokesperson Philipp Schwander confirms according to Sontag. "We will indicate in a suitable form that we are behind a publication," he says. They want an external journalist to provide "an independent view" of the programs.
The journalist would receive a maximum of CHF 110,000 per year from the SFOE. If he receives a fee for the texts from the newspapers and magazines, he must pay 70 percent of this to the SFOE, as Sonntag writes further. Studer criticizes the fact that the articles can also be offered free of charge. This puts genuine freelance science journalists at a disadvantage, as they cannot offer their articles free of charge.

Markus Schär to the Federal Parliament for Weltwoche

Swiss journalist and historian Markus Schär will begin working for *Die Weltwoche* as a freelance Federal Parliament correspondent effective immediately and will be hired as a full-time staff member starting in January 2013. He succeeds Urs Paul Engeler, a longtime *Die Weltwoche* Federal Parliament correspondent.

Engeler will continue to be available to the journal as an author in a reduced capacity. Schär received his doctorate from the University of Zurich under Prof. Rudolf Braun with a thesis on "Seelennöte der Untertanen: Selbstmord, Melancholie und Religion im Alten Zürich 1500-1800" and served as senior assistant. He was then politically active, including as president of the Social Democratic Party of the Canton of Thurgau. Schär worked as a political and economic journalist for various media. From 2004-2006, he had already worked once as an editor at Weltwoche, before moving to the liberal think tank Avenir Suisse as a staff member and author.

The community decides here

Under the title Mag20, young entrepreneur Markus Bucheli has launched a magazine experiment. He doesn’t need an editorial team for this. At the heart of his project is an active community that writes, rates, and selects articles for the magazine.

Last Friday was the first time. In addition to the familiar free titles that commuters encounter at train stations, there was a new magazine. A 46-page magazine with articles on politics, society, business, culture and knowledge. The cover reads "Mag20 - More behind it". A title that already reveals a lot about the new media project of former auditor Markus Bucheli. "20" stands for the number of articles in the weekly magazine, "Mag" for magazine. "More behind it" indicates that there is no editorial team behind Mag20, but an entire community. Unlike most print products, it is not journalists who contribute the content here, but the users themselves. The core of the experiment is the platform Mag20. com. This is where the authors upload their articles. At the same time, the website lays the foundation for the print product, because on Mag20.com the community decides which texts are printed in Mag20. The criterion is the number of recommendations an article receives on Facebook, Twitter or Google+. In this sense, the "Mag" in the title is equally to be understood as an allusion to "I like" or more aptly "I like".

Walder, advertiser makes sporty image advertisement for Trewag

The European Soccer Championship, the Ice Hockey World Championship, or the Summer Olympics—2012 is all about sports. Walder, the advertising agency behind Trewag’s new image campaign, capitalized on this current trend.

Because the innovative space zoning company and sport have something important in common: in both cases, the winners are those who remain flexible, the agency writes in a press release. Trewag offers its customers from the architecture, construction and design scene modular partition wall systems for optimal room partitioning at all times. The aim of the campaign was to creatively demonstrate the high quality and functionality of Trewag systems. In a funny way, in a sporting context.

To this end, the agency designed three eye-catching subjects on the themes of football, ice hockey and tennis. Whether as an advertisement, online banner or give-away card - the message and promise to customers should be clear: "Win the game with space, flexibility and system. And of course with Trewag".

FOPH awards measles limitation campaign to KSB and YJOO

The pitch for the 2013–2015 measles elimination campaign commissioned by the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) has been decided: Following a two-stage, selective bidding process, the agency Krieg Schlupp Bürge (KSB), together with YJOO in Zurich, has been awarded the contract.

KSB with YJOO convinced the jury in particular with their creative idea and the modular, participatory communication measures. The implementation requires comprehensive strategic considerations, because the campaign is planned in the framework of the National Strategy Measles Elimination 2011-2015 in close cooperation with the cantons. This writes the FOPH in a statement on Friday.

It is hoped that communication measures over the three campaign years 2013-2015 will improve the level of knowledge about measles among the population. In the second year of the campaign, the aim is to mobilize people for catch-up vaccination by highlighting instructions for action. In the third year, the campaign should specifically promote catch-up vaccination, especially in regions with low vaccination coverage rates.

The measles campaign is one of six axes of intervention in the national strategy, which aims to eliminate measles by 2015. This is the target set by WHO Europe. For Switzerland, this means that 95 percent of all persons born after 1963 must be immune by 2015.

Swiss sports television SSF with new direction

The Swiss marketing organization for private electronic offline media Goldbach Media and Swiss sports television SSF are dissolving their marketing agreement by mutual consent as of the end of August 2012. Swiss sports television SSF is seeking a realignment.

SSF - from November 1 now called "Sport Szene Fernsehen SSF" - will gradually expand its program offering in close cooperation with SSF Media as a new content and production partner. Reporting on Swiss sports will continue to be the main focus in primetime, the TV station announced on Friday. At the same time, SSF is opening up to new programming content by expanding its programming concept to include the "Scene" area.

The programming additions are made possible by an agreement with UPC Cablecom, which guarantees program distribution without Bakom requirements. SSF intends to make targeted and innovative use of the new freedoms this opens up in programming and marketing, without deviating from its mission to be a showcase for Swiss sports. Rather, the existing sports offering will be supplemented and expanded with new content in a targeted manner, so that the demand for a full program can be met even better, the statement continues.

Innovations in the Board of Directors

The previous Board of Directors of United Sport Productions USP TV, the organizer of the SSF program, under Pascal Jenny, will be responsible for strategic management. In the future, SSF founder Peter Weigelt will also be back on the USP Board of Directors. Tom Mörker will become a new member of the Board of Directors. The marketing and communications professional and co-founder of SSF Media has many years of experience in the moving image business.

New partner

While SSF's programming has gained a high level of acceptance over the past 3 years, it has not been possible to achieve the defined objectives in marketing, the TV station writes in the statement. The cooperation with SSF Media as a new content and production partner is intended to provide new impetus, especially in terms of marketing and distribution. In addition, SSF Media has brought on board Matthias Luchsinger, an expert who, as a long-standing professional, knows the Swiss TV advertising business inside out. In addition, Philip Michel, who has been with SSF for many years, will be responsible for the station's program management as a further member of the executive board.

Sport remains the focus

During the initial phase of the new partnership, the SSF program will continue unchanged. From November 1, 2012, the program will be successively expanded and enriched with new content. In addition, the path taken of networking with an online offering will be further advanced.

Profeta has signed Avia Osterwalder as a new client and launched the «Never Forget» campaign. The campaign is designed to strengthen customer loyalty.

Customers are systematically contacted with a mailing and/or, if necessary, contacted directly by the fuel driver. The latter will be stimulated by a special monetary incentive campaign, the agency said in a statement on Friday. All six of Avia Osterwalder's sales partners are involved in the campaign.

The mechanics are relatively simple and work as follows: Customers have to enter their tank data and the date of the last filling and the rest is done by Avia Osterwalder. The ERP system, which is also fed with weather data, provides the supplier with information on the exact day when a refill is required. The entire communication was also implemented accordingly with a button cloth and customers receive this little cloth from Glarner Stickereien as a gift with their next refill.
