Last but not least: Finally something useful

Tim Holman's portal uses a random generator to direct visitors to completely useless websites. It quickly becomes clear: the more pointless, the better!

For example Randomcolour.com a different color for each visit. Pleasedonate.biz consists only of a Paypal donation button. Something.com indicates a word (exactly, Cat-bounce.com you can let cats bounce around like rubber balls.

Best right away try it out yourself - the supply of pointless pages seems large.

Crafft: Helvetia Blog developed

Helvetia is stepping up its communication on social media. Crafft, in collaboration with the Swiss insurance group, developed an online dialogue platform called the «Helvetia Blog.» This platform complements Helvetia’s existing website.

The Helvetia Blog tells stories from the insurer's world: portraits of customers such as female winemakers, young entrepreneurs, or meteorologists, expert tips on home construction or wine insurance, as well as columns or background reports on sports, leisure, insurance, and retirement planning. In this way, the insurance company explains its complex environment in a more attractive and ultimately simpler way. Visitors to the Helvetia blog should ask questions, make their opinions known, comment on articles and videos, exchange ideas with each other and connect with other social networks.

This creates trust and binds people to Helvetia, according to a statement. With the new platform, the insurer wants to show itself as an innovative and dynamic company. "Today, companies can no longer simply announce their messages and positions," says Andreas Notter, media spokesperson and project manager at Helvetia. "On the Internet, people want to have their say, they want to connect directly with the company and thus communicate with it. That creates trust and binds people to the company."

The Helvetia Blog's content and visual concept was developed by the insurance group's communications department together with Crafft, the Zurich agency for corporate publishing and brand design. On November 19, 2012, the first Helvetia blog went online in the country market Switzerland. Other country markets will follow from 2013.

SBB leisure offers never sound sweeter

With a commercial promoting SBB and public transportation’s recreational offerings, Contexta aims to «really get viewers at home in the Christmas spirit.».

Christmas time - time for your loved ones. So it's no wonder that Contexta's latest commercial focuses on an intergenerational, primarily female target group. In fast-paced match cuts and sugar-sweet images, the camera accompanies a mother and her grown-up daughter on their joint tour through pre-Christmas Switzerland. They travel by public transport to one of the many Christmas markets in Switzerland, go Christmas shopping in the city and relax in a spa. The good news of the discounted leisure offers is proclaimed not only by the commercial but also by posters around Swiss railroad stations, POS brochures and banners that lead directly to the offer.

However, according to Contexta, the ad wouldn't be a real Christmas ad if it didn't also have a moral: the time spent together is more important than any presents. And there is no better place to enjoy this than on a train journey together - on the way home, according to the agency.

Responsible at SBB: Reto Meissner (Head of Marketing Communications Passenger Transport), Petra Thomann (Project Manager Marketing Communications, Leisure Campaign). Responsible at Contexta: Nadine Borter (overall responsibility), Moritz Staehelin (creative direction), Willem Baumann (art direction), Vanessa Mermoud (graphics), Daniel Müller (text), Evelyn Brodmann, Monika Siegenthaler (consulting). Advico Y&R: Like a zoo without bars

The Advico agency has created a campaign for Goldau Zoo that draws attention to the animals' freedom. Like a zoo - only without bars.

Thanks to a large free-range zone, the animals at Goldau Nature and Animal Park live almost as if they were in the wild. Visitors can observe them up close - without any disturbing bars, according to a press release. On the subjects developed by Advico Y&R, trees form a natural barrier to the viewer instead of bars. The three subjects are now in use.

Saatchi & Saatchi: Unicef campaign launched

This fall, UNICEF is launching a campaign on the topic of «Stop Violence Against Girls.» The goal is to raise awareness of a cruel problem that the girls affected are rarely able to speak about.

Saatchi & Saatchi shows how a donation can give girls back their own voice. The goal was to make the unspeakable visible. With a visual that not only shows the negative but also the positive in a stirring way, according to a statement. In the creative implementation, affected girls can communicate their grievances despite repression by means of their own mouths. The campaign idea, photographed and filmed by Marco Grob, is used in advertisements, posters, online and films. The exemplary fates are documented on the basis of 6 girls who were cast from the cultures concerned. Real but anonymous life stories from the countries Democratic Republic of Congo, Pakistan, India, Ukraine, Nicaragua and Nigeria come to the fore.

Online, you can learn more about Unicef's solutions. Which projects are supported that specifically work to empower girls. The central role of education and awareness programs. The practical help for victims such as medical treatment & care, with costs covered by Unicef for surgeries and provision of medicines. And how Unicef is establishing counseling centers and catch-all networks. Focused now in the communication campaign to stimulate public discussion on this.

Radio Pilatus: Still no song twice

Radio Pilatus doesn't play any song twice between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Anyone who spots a song that's been played twice and is the first to report it to the host in the studio will receive 500 francs as a reward.

For half a year now, Radio Pilatus has not played a song twice every day from 08:00 to 17:00. The playlist has been expanded to include many well-known songs from the last thirty years. "The reactions to the campaign have been consistently positive and have prompted us to expand the campaign," explains Roman Unternährer, Head of Presentations at Radio Pilatus. For this reason, listeners will now be included in the campaign. Anyone who hears a song twice on Radio Pilatus in the time frame in question will call the studio and win 500 Swiss francs. Maz: 833 signatures for remaining in Lucerne

According to its own figures, the «Not Without Maz» committee has collected 833 signatures in support of keeping the journalism school in Lucerne. The school is considering relocating because the canton of Lucerne has cut its operating subsidy of 50,000 francs.

The committee, which was initiated by the two communications agencies Akomag and Wave, wants to support Maz by collecting signatures. The aim is also to convince the cantonal parliament to refrain from further cuts.

The deletion of the 50,000 francs was seen as particularly disruptive because Lucerne is not only the canton in which the Maz is located, but also the founding canton. The canton had argued that it was forced to take this measure for financial reasons.

According to the committee, the journalism school not only adds value but also contributes greatly to Lucerne's image. The Maz also strengthens Lucerne as an educational location. In addition, media is an industry of the future. (SDA)

Ruf Lanz: Successful personnel campaign for VBZ

For some time now, Zurich Public Transportation (VBZ) has been running a campaign designed by Ruf Lanz that specifically targets women. It has been a success, as the NZZ reported on Monday.

In the wording: "Just six months after the advertising campaign, the success was clearly evident in the applications. Out of a thousand applicants, one third were women - their share had doubled." However, as soon as less advertising is done, there is a decline in applications, says Heinz Vögeli, Head of Human Resources and Corporate Communications at VBZ. The progress is particularly evident among streetcar drivers, since they make up the largest share of VBZ employees, says Heinz Vögeli. Today, every third streetcar in Zurich has a woman in the driver's cab; two years ago, only every fourth streetcar had a female driver.

One of several parts of the VBZ personnel campaign: large posters for women, much smaller ones for men.

NZZ drives digital new business forward

NZZ pushes ahead with its new digital business and, together with its partners Braingroup and Finaware, takes a stake in MDC Media, the first independent information platform for the Swiss private investor.

Starting in December, investors will be able to check the coverage of their individual risk profile against the existing portfolio structure and compare financial product providers that match their profile. In a next expansion step, the platform will provide investors with tools for professional portfolio management, according to a statement.

2013 will also see the launch of an independent financial and pension advice platform for Swiss private households. Through interactivity and animated processes, the self-advice should lead in a targeted manner to the best solutions and products. A comprehensive analysis of the personal situation illustrates the development of expenses, income, assets, debts and taxes over time. On this basis, various scenarios can be created and evaluated. Holistic financial planning is also supported, based on an interactive life event approach, such as marriage, children, divorce, home ownership, death, inheritance, taking into account personal goals and options.

The strategic partners Finaware and Braingroup bring important know-how and software components to MDC Media. Finaware has been developing software solutions for professional investment consulting, among other things, since 1997. Braingroup has been offering innovative information systems for comprehensive asset and retirement planning since 2001. Both companies have so far exclusively served the business-to-business market. Through MDC Media, the business-to-consumer market is now being tapped together with NZZ.

"We are convinced that in the future, consumers will increasingly want neutral and individual information when it comes to investing, financial and retirement planning. To this end, we want to provide them with the appropriate information and tools," emphasizes Simon Virlis, Head of Corporate Development at the NZZ Media Group. Ivo Streiff, CEO and co-founder of MDC Media adds: "With the new partners, we will be able to offer functionalities for private investors in the coming months that were previously only available to experts. Through the NZZ channels, we reach exactly our target group."

SVP Extrablatt soon to be a regular feature

In an interview with *Der Sonntag*, SVP President Toni Brunner hints that the party publication *Extrablatt*, which was mailed to all households, was not a one-time initiative.

The newspaper had a circulation of almost four million copies and was distributed to all Swiss households in the three official languages. Although the party newspaper had teething troubles in the form of Printing errors but it still gave SVP President Toni Brunner a real sense of elation when he opened the letterbox last Friday. In an interview with Der Sonntag, he describes the moment: "It was fantastic. I will never forget it." In contrast to the new media, it is "more sensual" to read a newspaper and "let it sink in". That's why, according to the interview, he not only subscribes to Weltwoche and Basler Zeitung ("even before it got into right-wing hands, by the way"), but also to St. Galler Tagblatt ("sometimes cruel").

Sonntag concludes from Brunner's enthusiasm that the party wants to have the Extrablatt newspaper distributed every month in future. This is also indicated by the label "November 2012". Brunner does not deny this, saying that the project is "ambitious" for the SVP. However, the frequency at which Extrablatt is published is "completely open". According to Brunner, the costs of the ad-free newspaper - 950,000 francs per issue - will be covered by "various entrepreneurs". Not only, but also Christoph Blocher, as the SVP President puts on record.

ADC YCA 2012: Award ceremony at Mascotte

The winners of the 2012 ADC Young Creatives Award have been announced. The awards were presented at the Mascotte in Zurich in collaboration with Joiz. Media partner Werbewoche was there and showcases the award-winning work.

"It was impressive to see how uninhibited our youngsters were in coping with the demanding Cailler briefing," said Philipp Skrabal, ADC board member and main organiser of the event. Around one hundred and twenty young talents took up this year's challenge in teams of two in order to win a place in Cannes as well as the coveted trophy. Cornelia Brechbühl from sponsor Cailler was also enthusiastic: "The variety of ideas was remarkable. Our commitment was worthwhile, even if not all the winning entries were equally in keeping with the brand. After all, it's primarily about talent and less about market-ready solutions". The somewhat macabre winning entry in the Film Brechbühl category, for example, was less convincing - the jury, on the other hand, appreciated the successful implementation and the spot caused loud amusement among the audience present. The film showed a deceased woman who once again gleefully expressed the "extra long aftertaste" of chocolate.

The renowned creative competition was held for the sixth time, and the winners of the Film, Outdoor and Cyber categories will once again travel to Cannes in 2013 for the Young Lions Competition to officially represent Switzerland. "Interestingly, three of the six future Cannes participants were already among the winners of our competition in 2011. This also gives hope for the Young Lions," comments jury president Dominik Oberwiler on their chances in the international competition. In addition to the four coveted trophies of the ADC Young Creatives Award, there was also the special prize of 2,500 Swiss francs for creative mobile applications, sponsored by the Goldbach Group.

A new feature of this year's event was the partnership with the youth channel Joiz, which gave the competition a special broadcast on November 7. one-hour "Livingroom" edition dedicated. The awards ceremony was also broadcast by Joiz TV. Alexandra Maurer, presenter and editor at Joiz, provided the entertaining and charming moderation at the Mascotte. Impressions of the award ceremony can be found in the fifth article of the "Noiz" broadcast from November 15 to be seen. In the upcoming print issue of Werbewoche, Philipp Skrabal, Executive Creative Director and co-owner of the Wirz agency, comments on the competition. (hae)

The winners of the Film category:
Jumana Issa, Joelle Hauser

nachgeschmack

The winning film shows that the indulgent aftertaste of chocolate lingers on the tongue for a long time - even beyond death.

The winners of the Outdoor category:
Johannes Dörig, Susanna Gonzàlez

Create_Emotions_Liebe_4

The winning duo convinced the jury with their "Create Emotions" campaign, in which "sentient posters" use a complex technical process to display personalized subjects and chocolate varieties to consumers that match their individual moods. The moods are recorded in advance and later assigned by means of facial recognition.

The winners in the Cyber category:
Niels Schäfer, Pedro Moosmann

schoggi-index

Schäfer and Moosmann created the "Cailler Schoggi Index," which ties the price of chocolate to the SMI. In this way, Cailler is also intended to provide comfort in economically bad times.

The winners of the Alternative Media category:
Nicolas Brivio, Daniel Schmid

olgasmilch

The "Olga's Milk" campaign lets Cailler become a milk producer. Designer bottles bearing the names of the respective cows allude to the fact that the chocolate producer only uses milk from animals from the Gruyére region, where the factory is located.

The winners of the Goldbach Group special "Mobile" award:
Gaël Tran, Jérémie Braun

milkapp

Using a milk can app, consumers transport milk to Cailler sales outlets with the help of GPS and are rewarded there. They are not allowed to spill a drop in the process. The idea, which is intended to emphasize that Cailler is the only chocolate manufacturer to use real milk, was visualized by Tran and Braun in a convincing advertising film.
