Last but not least: Edi.12 - navel-gazing, plagiarism or just brave?

Not everyone seems to be happy with the Edi.12 awards ceremony. Especially not when jurors award advertising, industrial and corporate films in which they themselves are involved.

A TV commercial for the Hyundai i30 has won an award for the "most daring car commercial of the year." The film by Ruf Lanz received a Bronze Edi. One person, however, is not so happy with it: Helmut Glogger, the mailer of Blick am Abend. As he writes, the excellent film was already in 2011 on Youtube to be seen after the Frankfurt Motor Show. Glogger writes in his "Mail" that this "little film without script or direction" was already seen on Youtube in 2011: "VW boss Winterkorn got behind the wheel and raves about the vehicle, saying that neither BMW nor VW could manage something like this. The film, which Edi presents with opening and closing credits, is enriched with a long series of screenplay and director credits:

In this case, a small detail shows that at least the footage was not exactly produced very elaborately: Under camera it says "hidden camera. What the Edi judges now call "the most courageous car commercial of the year", Glogger rather associates with plagiarism. But may what is a prize-winner not have its origin in a simple Youtube film? After all, the film has already been clicked on around 75,000 times. So Ruf Lanz hardly assumed that no one would notice the similarity. (uma)

Publishers want money for news that Google puts online

Google's search engine is used to place articles online for which Google collects advertising money but pays nothing. Swiss publishers no longer want to accept this.

This is what Daniel Hammer, Secretary General of the French-speaking Swiss publishers' association Médias Suisses, said in an interview with the weekly newspaper L'Hebdo on Wednesday, according to SDA. According to him, the advertising revenue of the traditional Swiss press has fallen from 3 to 2 billion within 10 years. Meanwhile, Google is now earning up to CHF 500 million per year in Switzerland.

The publishers are now working towards a revision of the copyright law as a solution. "This is the only way search engines that use our work can pay their debts," said Hammer. According to SDA, publishers are currently involved in a working group at federal level that aims to improve the exploitation of authors' rights and related rights. The aim is not to introduce a "Google tax", said Hammer. Rather, the aim is to achieve exploitation via related rights.

According to him, contacts with Google so far have been disappointing. So far, Swiss-German publishers have been referred to the company's headquarters in the USA. This is despite the fact that the company is based in Zurich.

Salcom launches new church messenger

The member magazine of the Evangelical Regional Church of Thurgau has been redesigned and now features new content priorities. The concept was revised by the agency Salcom.biz.

The Kirchenbote of the Protestant Church of the Canton of Thurgau has been managed for several years by Roman Salzmann, owner of Salcom.biz Public Relations. Now, with the November 2012 issue, the members' magazine comes home to readers with various new features. Most striking are the large-format cover image and the resulting redesigned front page with short introductory texts, the agency said in a statement Thursday. The cover picture with integrated text refers in each case to a focus in the current issue.

The church bulletin will be particularly "rejuvenated" inside the paper with the new children's page. In addition, more attention will be paid in the future to ensuring that the pictures are generously and excitingly placed. A new typeface and slightly different title positioning will also contribute to a moderately modernized appearance.
