Federal Council sets up media commission
As announced, the Federal Council established a media commission on Wednesday to advise the federal government and the administration on matters related to the media landscape. The 15-member commission, composed of experts, is scheduled to begin its work in mid-2013.
The Federal Media Commission is an extra-parliamentary administrative commission without decision-making powers. Its mandate consists of observing the media landscape in Switzerland, analyzing media topics and making recommendations on selected issues, such as new technologies. Among other things, the commission is to draw up proposals on where the boundaries between SRG, which is financed by fees, and private media should be drawn when it comes to online content. In September, the Federal Council did not allow the SRG to sell online advertising, but did permit the journalistic expansion of its website.
The Federal Council announced the establishment of the commission in mid-September. It will meet four to six times a year. The Federal Council intends to appoint experts from the media and communications sector next spring. The Media Commission will be chaired by Professor Otfried Jarren from Zurich. He has been a full professor of journalism and media research at the University of Zurich since 1997 and has been Vice-Rector for Humanities and Social Sciences and a member of the University of Zurich management since August 1, 2008. Renzen designs TV commercial for Rimuss Secco
Celebrate, toast together, have a second or third glass - and then drive off on a Vespa with your new acquaintance? The TV commercial created by Renzen Communications for Rimuss and Weinkellerei Rahm plays with the taboo situation of "drinking and driving".
Initially, a festive and cheerful outdoor party atmosphere is deliberately created with a fast-paced sequence of scenes, which is intuitively associated with alcohol and champagne. Only after the two protagonists from the mini-love story have sped off on a Vespa does the denouement and the corresponding "aha" moment follow: "No problem, it's alcohol-free Rimuss Secoo".
The 15-second TV commercial is intended to position Rimuss Secco as a stylish, sophisticated aperitif drink for adults that promises "pleasure without remorse" and should not be missed at any party.
Responsible at Rimuss and Weinkellerei Rahm, Hallau: Hans-Peter Bareth (Executive Board), Esther Hauser (Head of Marketing), Peter Masciadri (Delegate of the Board of Directors). Responsible at Renzen Communications, Aarau: Hanno Lietz (CD), Achim Kaufmann (AD), Frédéric Renzen, Luca Pibiri (consulting). Saatchi & Saatchi: Children's laughter for Swisscom Mobile Aid
There are 8 million old cell phones lying around unused in Switzerland. Swisscom, in partnership with Saatchi & Saatchi, is launching a nationwide campaign encouraging people to drop off their old cell phones at a Swisscom store or kiosk, thereby turning them into a valuable donation.
At the heart of the campaign is a positive future for children in need, according to the agency. To this end, recycling artist Jan Reymond from western Switzerland was commissioned to create a smiling child's face from 8'000 old cell phones. The action took place at the Umwelt Arena Spreitenbach.
Accompanying the campaign, SOS Children's Village ambassadors and Swiss celebrities such as Bertrand Piccard, Linda Fäh, Francine Jordi, Stéphane Lambiel and Patrick Rohr, as well as Swiss Ski athletes such as Carlo Janka and Dominique Gisin, are showing their commitment by donating their old cell phones. The campaign will be on air on all channels from November 12 to 30 as part of a media partnership with Ringier.
In Switzerland, the collected old cell phones are processed at the Réalise social enterprise. Defective cell phones are disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner. The serviceable cell phones are then sold on the international secondary market. The proceeds provide 1,000 children at an SOS Children's Village school in Ethiopia with a solid education, according to the agency. If Switzerland collects 100,000 old cell phones, Swisscom will donate an additional half a million francs.
