Schnyder Advertising wins the Swiss PR Image Award 2019

With the photo "A Perfect Day!" the family-owned company Schnyder Werbung won the Swiss PR Image Award 2019 on Thursday. The award-winning image shows the Matterhorn behind a mountain lake backdrop - taken from the frog's perspective.

PM-PRBA-A-Perfect-Day

The subject was photographed by Marco Schnyder on behalf of the Zermatt mountain railroads and was able to prevail against 600 applications. For the 14th time, the DPA subsidiary News Aktuell presents the PR Picture Award for outstanding photography by companies, organizations and agencies.

Marco Schnyder of Schnyder Werbung accepted the award on Thursday evening at the ceremony in the Resonanzraum St. Pauli in Hamburg: "We are very happy about the award! It proves that sometimes you have to break conventions for the perfect picture. Our team had pitched their tents at over 2,500 meters the night before the shoot so that we would have the perfect lighting conditions first thing in the morning. So when I woke up in my tent and lifted my head, I knew now I had to pull the trigger. So I was able to capture my awakening in front of one of the most impressive mountains in the world."

Eljub Ramic, Managing Director of News Aktuell Switzerland on the winning photo: "The Matterhorn is one of Switzerland's landmarks and has already been photographed many times. With the winning picture, Marco Schnyder has succeeded in taking an unusual perspective and thus telling a new story. One feels transported directly to the mountain lake and immediately wants to climb to the top. If a picture triggers this desire to travel, then the destination marketing has done everything right."

The award ceremony at the Resonanzraum St. Pauli in Hamburg was hosted by TV, radio and event presenter Sabrina Ziegler and presenter Carsten Spengemann. Singer Aneta Sablik, winner of RTL's hit format "Deutschland sucht den Superstar," performed songs by Beyoncé, Whitney Houston and Rita Ora, among others, in front of around 250 invited guests from the media and PR industry.

For Germany, the winner this year was the picture "Elbphilharmonie in the fog", submitted by Hamburg Marketing. The best PR picture of the year from Austria is the photo "Water in motion" by Kärnten Werbung Marketing und Innovationsmanagement.

After an assignment at the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in 2013, the Federal Council appointed him Director of OFCOM as of January 1, 2014. SRF has a new online platform for audio and podcast

The new audio platform brings together all of SRF’s audio content, which can be found organized by topic. Regularly updated editorial highlights and recommendations, as well as a list of the most-listened-to episodes, round out the offering.

srf_plattform_podcast

Srf.ch/audio, a curated platform dedicated specifically to audio content and podcasts, is now online. "The site is the new gateway to the entire SRF audio offering, which can be accessed by audiences in a variety of ways, depending on their needs," says Michael Cyriax, Head of Online Radio.

All SRF radio stations can be listened to live on the platform, the editorial teams provide regularly changing tips and recommendations and draw attention to new shows and contributions, and stand-alone podcasts such as the "Leben am Limit" series are given their own showcase.

In addition, there is now also thematic access to all broadcasts and podcasts. For example, if someone is interested in audios in the area of "crime & true crime," this person will be shown SRF's entire offering on this topic.
The list of the most listened-to posts gives users an overview of the most popular topics and posts of the day and week. The search function can still be used to search specifically for well-known programs or podcasts.
Hansjörg Bolliger, Project Manager SRF Online: "With this new audio platform, we are giving our extensive and interesting SRF audio offerings an attractive home that should entice users to listen and come back."

Twitter faces problems in the advertising business

Twitter is facing an unexpectedly sharp drop in profits in the third quarter due to problems in its advertising business. The U.S. microblogging service expects headwinds to persist in the coming months.

twitter-voegel

In the months of July to September, a net profit of 37 million dollars resulted, as Twitter announced on Thursday. This is significantly less than analysts had expected. In the same period last year, the group still came to a profit of 789 million dollars. At that time, however, it had benefited from a positive tax effect of a good 680 million dollars.

In the past quarter, sales rose by nine percent to 824 million dollars. But even with this, the Americans failed to meet the expectations of the stock exchange. In pre-market trading on Wall Street, Twitter shares subsequently slumped by around 15 percent.

Problems burden

The short messaging service suffered from a number of issues in the third quarter, including program bugs that affected the company's ability to target ads and share data with advertising partners. In addition, certain personalization and data settings did not work as expected.

In addition, Twitter suffered from a seasonal slowdown in its advertising business over the summer. Although measures have been initiated to remedy these problems, they are likely to continue to burden the advertising business in the short term, the group said.

More users

Despite the problems, Twitter was able to increase the number of daily users in the third quarter by 17 percent to 145 million within a year. The company only counts users to whom it can show ads via its website or apps.

This figure does not include users who follow tweets via other sites such as Tweetdeck. Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey attributed the growth to product improvements, such as in the navigation on the Twitter site as well as in its usage options.

In the summer, Dorsey had to admit to problems with data security. Data from users without consent is said to have been "inadvertently" used for personalized advertising. (Werbewoche.ch reported). Twitter and other social media platforms have also come under pressure recently over their ad policies.

Democratic presidential candidates in the U.S., including former Vice President Joe Biden, had recently criticized the platforms for allowing ads from politicians that they believed contained false or misleading claims. (SDA)

Repositioning: 20 Minutes Friday digital only

Because the company plans to shift its focus more toward online content, the print edition of 20 Minuten Friday will be discontinued at the end of the year. Five employees are affected.

20minuten-friday-print-ende

At the end of the year, Tamedia Publishing will discontinue the print edition of the Friday-magazine. This was reported by the publisher on Thursday.
A total of five permanent employees of the publishing house are affected. There will also be isolated reductions in staffing levels. The employees affected will be supported with a social plan.

From next year 20 Minutes Friday then be positioned as a purely digital brand in German-speaking and French-speaking Switzerland. To this end, the digital presence was revised and redesigned as a holistic lifestyle portal. The focus will remain on fashion, beauty, entertainment and social topics.

The publisher cites continuing declining advertising revenues as the reason for discontinuing the print edition. This had led to an increasing loss. (SDA/swi)

OSW radiates autumnal joy in St. Jakob Park

OSW is kicking off the fall season with a campaign positioning the St. Jakob-Park Shopping Center as the premier destination for fall shopping that’s meant to be enjoyable.

RZ_SJP_Herbst_2019_F12_470x224mm-1

From 18 September to 19 October 2019, the St. Jakob-Park shopping center attracted visitors with its wide selection of fashion stores - in line with the current season. The majority of stores in the St. Jakob-Park shopping center specialize in fashion. That's why the shopping center is focusing on an autumnal campaign to match the peak fashion season.

OSW built on last year's key visual when creating the new motif. In 2018, the focus was also on changing colors and surprisingly staged autumn leaves.

The eye-catchers are a smiling autumn leaf, reminiscent of female lips, and a leaf trimmed into a twisted moustache - a kind of "male" counterpart. As in the previous year, the subjects were reduced to the essentials. The two eye-catchers could be seen in and around the St. Jakob-Park shopping center, on posters in the region, on BVB streetcars as well as online and on social media.
