High voltage develops end of year campaign for Rimuss

"Rimuss really is a toast for everyone": Zurich agency Hochspannung has developed an end-of-year campaign for Rimuss that gives a new twist to the tried and tested.

rimuss_01

Rimuss has been relying on the services of Zurich-based advertising agency Hochspannung for its communication and advertising since September 2019.

The first work was seen in the weeks leading up to Christmas/New Year's Eve, with digital and social media channels being used in particular. With the end-of-year campaign, the agency revived the well-known slogan "Everyone toasts with Rimuss" and added a "really" to it.

The new commercials "really" feature all kinds of protagonists toasting with the non-alcoholic sparkling wine - from grandchildren to teenagers to disco ladies to polar bears and many more.

With the claim "For aperitifs and beyond", Rimuss also wants to position itself more strongly and in a more focused way in the aperitif sector. Further measures under this new direction are in progress and will be visible on various channels over the course of the year.

The beer giants also dominate the advertising market

An analysis by Media Focus shows that when beer is advertised in Switzerland, Heineken and Feldschlösschen are almost always behind it.

top-10-Biere-Q1-Q3-2019-website_NEU

The global craft beer hype has definitely reached Switzerland - microbreweries are currently springing up like mushrooms. However, this development leaves the Swiss beer advertising market cold. In the Swiss advertising market, the cool blonde is mainly promoted by the two giants Feldschlösschen (incl. Cardinal) and Heineken (incl. Eichhof, Calanda).

These alone are responsible for over 80 percent of the advertising pressure generated by beer advertising from January to September 2019. The ranking of the most advertised beers shows this impressively. Three of the ten products come from Heineken, while Feldschlösschen is responsible for seven.

At the top of the ranking is Eichhof Urfrisch, which will be launched in 2019. with a broad-based campaign was advertised. Lurking close behind is the classic Feldschlösschen Original, followed by the in-house, cloudy Braufrisch. The "leather medal" goes to the beer Calanda Glatsch, which comes in a hair's breadth behind third place.

The Feldschlösschen Weizen in 5th place was advertised at just under one million gross francs. It is followed by the "strong cyclist" Calanda Tandem and Cardinal Blonde. The Pale Ale, which has been available since August 2019, and the Dunkel from Feldschlösschen also make it into the top 10, with Cardinal Blanche occupying the last place.

Netflix to take controversial Jesus parody off the net

Following fierce protests in Brazil, Netflix is to remove a controversial Jesus parody from its program. "A Primeira Tentação de Cristo" (The First Temptation of Christ) by the satirical group Porta dos Fundos may no longer be shown until further notice.

This was the ruling of a court in Rio de Janeiro on Wednesday (local time). It thus granted a Christian group's application for a temporary injunction.

The chairman of the Brazilian Bar Association criticized the decision. "The Brazilian constitution guarantees free artistic expression," Felipe Santa Cruz told the news portal G1. "Any kind of censorship is a step backwards and cannot be accepted by society." The decision of the court in Rio de Janeiro could be overturned by higher courts.

In the Christmas special, Jesus is portrayed as homosexual, among other things. Politicians and clergymen criticized the film as an attack on the Christian faith. Shortly before Christmas, there was even an arson attack on the offices of Porta dos Fundos. (SDA)

TCS is partner of the ADC Young Creatives Award 2020

Touring Club Switzerland is a partner and briefing provider of the 13th ADC Young Creatives Award, the competition for young creatives under 30 in Switzerland. The theme: electromobility. In addition, the briefing will now take place on January 29, 2020. Participants will then have until February 27, 2020 to submit their work.

The reason for the new timing is the temporary withdrawal of Weischer.Media, which no longer supports the young talent competition in Switzerland. "We would like to express our sincere thanks to the Blick Group and Swiss Post, who have strengthened their commitment to Switzerland's up-and-coming creative talent, thus helping to close the monetary gap," says ADC Managing Director Gioia Bozzato.

Dierk Schehrer, Head of Marketing at TCS, says about his decision to be involved as a briefing provider: "E-mobility is a topic that moves Switzerland: What platform would be more suitable for creative new ideas for the task of communication around electromobility than the ADC Young Creatives Award? A green field that allows for new ways of looking at things and innovative creations. The young creatives can expect a future-oriented theme with plenty of room for creative play in this year's competition. We are looking forward to the variety of interpretations and interesting perspectives within e-mobility, which will also inspire and accompany us in our creative work in the long term."

The ADC Young Creatives Award will kick off at the warm-up event on January 29, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. in the ADC Gallery in Zurich. There are still four ADC Young Creatives Awards to be won. All four winning teams will travel to the Côte d'Azur in June for the Cannes Lions Festival 2020.

In addition to TCS as partner and briefing provider, the organizer receives support from long-time sponsors APG|SGA Out of Home Media, ViewSwiss Post, Swissfilm Association and Keystone SDA. Media support for the important creative young talent competition is provided by the Advertising Week and Personal. The organizer is ADC Switzerland, supported by the LSA Leading Swiss Agencies association.

Swiss Open Gstaad now focuses on dynamic prices

For the next edition of the Swiss Open Gstaad tennis tournament, taking place from July 18 to 26, 2020, ticket prices have been reduced and made more flexible.

Swiss Open Gstaad

The Swiss Open Gstaad was held for the first time 105 years ago, making the tournament one of the most traditional tennis events in the world. The organizers are planning various innovations for the next edition. For example, not only will an additional shade roof be built for spectators, but ticket prices will also be dynamized. Prices will therefore change depending on supply and demand.

In contrast to other dynamic pricing models, the price of a tennis tournament is purely influenced by this - factors such as the weather do not play a role. The time of booking also only has an indirect influence on the ticket price: the later the ticket is purchased, the higher the demand is likely to be under normal circumstances.

With this innovation, the Swiss Open Gstaad is facing up to the same challenge as numerous tourism providers have done in recent years and continue to do so.

The prices have not only been dynamized, but also reduced. Admission is available from as little as 25 francs and is free for children up to the age of nine.

Swisscom's competitors join forces

The Openaxs association is transferring its operations to the Suissedigital association. This move is intended to allow members active in the Swiss fiber-optic market to benefit from broader support. Some have already made the switch.

SuisseDigital_openaxs

Openaxs, the association of Swiss energy providers, has been committed to non-discriminatory fiber construction in Switzerland since 2008 and initiated the establishment of Swiss Fibre Net. Today, fiber construction in the cities is practically complete. Away from the centers, it is difficult to get past Swisscom's quasi-monopoly under the framework conditions of the new Telecommunications Act.

The board of Openaxs has therefore looked around for a partner who can effectively promote good framework conditions in the fiber optic market. "Suissedigital has a much broader base than Openaxs and is therefore the best future solution for Openaxs members," says Franz Stampfli, President of Openaxs. The association has thus ceased operations as of the end of 2019.

With the possibility of integrating Openaxs members, Suissedigital in turn wants to strengthen its position as a support and exchange platform for all communications network operators competing with Swisscom. "Together we can achieve even more - always in the service of the highest possible performance telecom infrastructure in Switzerland," says Simon Osterwalder, Managing Director of Suissedigital.

The first members have already joined, including Azienda Multiservizi Bellinzona (AMB), Romande Energie, Kommunikationsnetz Däniken and Swiss Fibre Net (as a supporting member).

"Quality is essential for the survival of the media".

In an era of media oversupply, quality is becoming vital for survival, according to Pietro Supino, president of the Publishers' Association. The media must become better and more professional than they have been in the past.

supino_dreikönigstagung_2020.jpeg

Photo: Twitter@publishers association

It is necessary to make an even more consistent distinction between reporting and opinion, Supino said on Wednesday at the Epiphany Conference of the Association of Swiss Media (VSM) in Zurich. The media must increase the utility value for the readership by presenting what institutional news actually means for them.

Media must create added value

"We need to select more independently, drill deeper and give more space to different points of view," Supino continued. The focus on real added value, the use of new technologies and the ability to cooperate are prerequisites for paid media to survive, he said.

The digital transformation of the subscription model is the biggest business challenge of the new decade. Prices for digital subscriptions would be half to two-thirds lower than existing print and combined online/print subscriptions. The advertising market will remain under pressure.

Dramatic price collapse

Under the optimistic assumption that the digital transformation will succeed, the revenues of traditional media brands are likely to decline at the same rate as prices over the next decade. That would be dramatic. The balancing act between content work and cost management will be even more challenging in the new decade.

Rising revenues in the digital business are far from being able to compensate for the declines in print. It is remarkable that the media offering in Switzerland remains excellent despite this dramatic development, said the publisher president.

Digital revolution

The breakthrough in technology is still to come. The keywords here are automation in journalism, computer-human interaction, and the broad field of data analysis. Beyond data journalism, user data would help to better tailor offerings to their interests and needs.

The development of digital competence requires high investments. At the same time, the large cost blocks remain, especially in the distribution of printed newspapers. Against this background, Supino believes it is urgently necessary to expand indirect press subsidies, including early delivery.

Increase in funding urgent

"Without expanding indirect promotion over the next three years, one-third of today's newspaper titles could not survive," Supino said. For this reason, he said, the association has been working with Swiss Post and Bakom in recent months to develop the technical basis for including early delivery in the promotion.

The association senses support from DETEC. In the coming months, the VSM will work to ensure that Parliament creates the necessary legal basis. In the short and medium term, this dossier has absolute priority in the publishers' association.

Development of media competence

In the long term, the promotion of media competence remains the most important concern. The next generation's understanding of media quality will determine future media offerings. That is why the importance of media literacy cannot be overestimated. (SDA)
