Erdmannpeisker stages the city of Biel in four image films

For the City of Biel’s new website, Erdmannpeisker produced four short promotional videos highlighting Biel’s attractions. The videos were edited together from a wide variety of footage and showcase what sets Biel apart in the areas of culture, sports, the economy, and quality of life.

Status and big city glamor play a minor role in Biel. And that is precisely why you can find real opportunities and chances here. The aim of the short films is to highlight what is extraordinary about Biel/Bienne. The films focus on the relaxed yet ambitious attitude of the people of Biel/Bienne, the openness, the cultural mix and the blend of industry and international brands in the midst of a diverse natural environment. In each of the four films, the attitude is staged in the appropriate forms.

Ammarkt implements branding and launch campaign for Bank Avera

With its departure from the Clientis Group, Bank Avera is starting a completely new chapter. The St. Gallen agency Ammarkt is accompanying this step with new branding and a major launch campaign.

AMM_BankAvera_Medienmitteilung_Bild-03_1600x900

The claim "We understand each other" is intended to put the bank's values and competencies into the right context for existing customers and potential new customers. The first wave consists of subjects that address the theme of "proximity" on the one hand, and competence on the other, but without going into specific products and services. The simple campaign tone is intended to quickly anchor the "new" bank in the public's consciousness and clearly differentiate it from its competitors. The introductory campaign is subsequently supplemented with product campaigns that work on the same principle.

The style, which shows the dialog between the customer's wishes and the bank, was also maintained in all other advertising materials. The content of the brochure, for example, differs significantly from comparable bank information material. The content was consistently geared toward comprehensibility. There are many explanatory graphics and the technical jargon has been reduced to the bare essentials.

To round off the campaign, a TV spot was also shot, which aims to bridge the gap between regional roots, long tradition and modern banking for the future. For Marketing Manager Philippe Haller and his team, a challenging phase is coming to an end: "Within just under a year, we not only realized the rebranding, but also a pre-launch campaign that prepared our customers for the change, a major launch campaign, the new website, and all printed materials and appearance elements."

How do Swiss youth tik(tok)t?

TikTok is on everyone's lips - and in the fast lane. The video portal is already used by 1.5 billion people worldwide. But what does user behavior look like in Switzerland? In an online survey, Xeit asked around 630 participants about TikTok.

TikTok-Umfrage-xeit

In Asia, TikTok has already become indispensable, but the app is also gaining ground in Switzerland. Young people spend up to two hours a day on the video portal - sometimes even more than on Instagram, Snapchat or YouTube.

The Chinese app is the winner of all social media platforms: In 2018, the video portal was one of the fastest spreading apps in the world. TikTok now has over 1.5 billion users (as of the end of 2019). In comparison, only WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger have even more users. The app is also heavily used in Switzerland - an estimated 500,000 Swiss people are regular TikTok users. Who are these users? How old are they, how long do they stay on TikTok - and what is their motivation for using the app?

TikTok still ahead of Instagram and Snapchat

  • The survey showed that TikTok is mainly used by 9- to 17-year-olds. From the age of 18, the app is used much less and is not installed at all.
  • TikTok seems to have struck a chord with female users: 78% of TikTok users surveyed are women.
  • Three-quarters (76%) of all TikTok users reported using the app daily - spending about 1 to 2 hours (45%).
  • 39% of participants use TikTok more than Instagram, 43% use the app more than Snapchat, and 45% even use it more than YouTube.
  • Funny, entertaining videos (43%) are clearly in the lead. Music videos (16%) and short tutorials (6%) are far less popular. Challenges are also very popular: 55% of TikTok users have already taken part in challenges.

Conclusion

TikTok should not be underestimated. Generation Z in particular spends hours on the video portal and also takes an active role (challenges). "TikTok seems to be THE entertainment platform for the young generation. Companies should seriously consider being present on this social media platform if TikTok fits the corporate culture and Generation Z is to be addressed," says Andrea Iltgen, Managing Partner of Xeit. The Zurich-based agency already offers TikTok marketing, including content production and community management, and is already looking forward to the time when TikTok ads can also be placed in Switzerland.

Responsible at Xeit: Lejla Bibuljica (survey); Patricia Brkic-Gyger (overall project management); Andrea Iltgen (consulting); Wim Lanz (creation).

To the Xeit online survey

The goal of the TikTok survey was to find out what the user behavior of Swiss TikTok users is like. For this purpose, the Zurich agency set up an online survey with 20 questions and advertised it online using ads. In this way, a number of participants of around 630 people was achieved.

Ogilvy creates a good font

Together we are rewriting the future. Following this motto, Ogilvy has developed a campaign that creates a direct link to the purpose of the donation. Based on the "Futura" typeface, the agency developed the "Better Futura" font. It looks more than good - it does good. The proceeds will be used to provide education for children in India.

Education is a matter of course in Switzerland - but not in India. To ensure that this does not remain the case, the Zewo-certified ASRA Foundation provides disadvantaged children in India with access to education. Ogilvy draws attention to this and collects donations: The agency has developed the typeface "Better Futura" and promoted it with a campaign. Anyone who buys the typeface is giving education, because the proceeds go to ASRA.

The campaign was promoted to a very specific target group, people who could use a typeface, i.e. designers, advertisers and artists. With online banners (display and responsive ads), on social media, and with advertisements and posters. The advertising media were placed in locations relevant to the target group - for example, next to the School of Design.

The campaign was well received and delivered a handsome conversion: three out of five people who clicked on an online ad purchased the font and made a donation.

Ogilvy has also made a statement for ASRA. For once, the agency disregarded its own corporate design and dedicated its own Christmas card to the campaign in Advent 2019. The pop-up card included a code that allowed the agency's clients and friends to download the font for free. The donation was made by Ogilvy. Gladly.

At the heart of the roadshow are decorative flags and figures, a circus ring where artists perform and a circus wagon with LED screens. Barcodes on game tickets and buzzers can be used to take part in competitions that run in animations on the screens. There are small "quick wins" as well as larger prizes such as first-class day tickets or an electric car.

The game vouchers are handed out at the ticket office and a booklet with coupons is distributed to all households in the canton over the course of the year. Each stop is accompanied by a family program with workshops and craft activities as well as advertisements, posters and megaposters on building facades.

SMEs to be exempted from radio and television levy

Only companies with 250 or more employees should be required to pay a radio and television license fee. That is the proposal of the relevant committee of the National Council. However, the decision was passed by a narrow majority.

old-tv-1149416_1280

The Commission for Transport and Telecommunications (KVF) approved a parliamentary initiative by Fabio Regazzi (CVP/TI) by 13 votes to 12, as the parliamentary services announced on Tuesday.

The majority of the commission wants to ease the burden on SMEs, with one exception for companies with fewer than 250 employees. In many cases, these companies have high sales but low margins, it argues. Therefore, they are particularly burdened by the levy, which is based on sales.

Only a few would still have to pay

The minority of the commission does not consider a new system change to be appropriate. With an exception for SMEs, only a small percentage of companies would have to pay a levy, they point out. This would unbalance the tax system.

Regazzi argues that "from a purely factual point of view" only people can consume radio and television, but not companies. It is therefore incomprehensible why companies should pay the tax at all.

Companies also benefit

As recently as December, however, the Council of States rejected the idea of exempting companies from the radio and television tax. It opposed a parliamentary initiative by National Councilor Gregor Rutz (SVP/ZH).

Companies also benefit from a functioning and independent broadcasting system, said the opponents of the proposal. If companies were exempted from the levy, private households would also have to pay more.

Analysis in the current year

The electorate approved the levy system at the ballot box in 2015. This also saw the introduction of the company levy, which brings 170 million Swiss francs per year into the fee pot. The Federal Council has announced an analysis of the tariff system for the current year.

The KVF of the National Council also insists on a change in the law to ensure that companies do not have to pay the radio and television levy twice if they belong to a consortium.

For a second time, it has spoken out in favor of a corresponding parliamentary initiative. The sister commission of the Council of States recently decided to suspend work on a corresponding amendment to the law. The announced package of measures to promote the media will probably provide an opportunity to implement the request more quickly, it noted. (SDA)

The city of Locarno chooses Clear Channel

Locarno-Via-Romagna_f7cf6c6dcfa3d26162ca54872e08b626

In Ticino, Clear Channel previously managed around 680 advertising spaces on the most important traffic routes. With the new contract from the city of Locarno, the offering in the canton of Ticino can be significantly expanded.

Diego Quintarelli, Chief Sales & Marketing Officer, is pleased in a statement: "For national out-of-home campaigns, this logical addition to our inventory in Italian-speaking Switzerland generates real added value. Thus, we are broadly supported in all language areas."

From its Locarno location, Clear Channel serves advertising clients from the region and the city of Locarno directly on site and ensures the quality of the billposting with its technical service.

Marcel Durst hands over the management of Komet to Corinne Hert and Jeff Gerber

Marcel Durst, the 66-year-old founder, is stepping down as managing director of the Bern-based agency Komet and handing over operational management to Client Service Director Corinne Hert and Creative Director Jeff Gerber.

KOMET_0230-t

In 1999, Marcel Durst (pictured above) founded the Cosmic advertising agency in Bern, and in 2011 it was renamed Komet Werbeagentur. After 20 successful years, management is now being placed in younger hands. Corinne Hert, 35, and Jeff Gerber, 40, have taken over operational management at the beginning of January 2020. Client Service Director Hert has already been a member of the executive board at Komet since 2016, Creative Director Gerber since joining the agency in 2018.

This generational change is intended to ensure that Komet can meet the challenges of the future and adapt to new market needs - as in the recent past, when Komet virtually reinvented itself: While the agency was long known for authoritative Swiss graphic design, in recent years it has transformed itself into a creative communications agency. Today, it has over 20 employees and works for numerous regional as well as many, well-known national clients. In 2019, the agency on the Bernese Aare celebrated its 20th birthday. (Werbewoche.ch reported).

In this context, he will continue to be responsible for the Association Spitex privée Suisse ASPS, which he has built up in his mandate over the past 14 years. In this function, Durst will also be found in the Federal Parliament in the future, as outpatient care remains a major concern for him, according to the press release. Durst will also be able to spend more time on the golf course, the statement continues.
