Wunderman Thompson and Red Bull lure you into the stratosphere

To promote Red Bull Media World at the Swiss Museum of Transport, Wunderman Thompson created an interactive digital out-of-home billboard featuring mixed reality that transports passersby into the stratosphere.

Wunderman Thompson

Red Bull Media World in the Museum of Transport in Lucerne attracts visitors with technological innovations and experiences. Since May 11, 2020, it has reopened its doors to all those eager to discover.

To inspire passers-by in downtown Lucerne to visit, Wunderman Thompson developed an unaccompanied, interactive digital-out-of-home poster with mixed reality. This was in continuous use for five weeks over Christmas and into the New Year.

A standard advertising screen was extended for this purpose with a prototype attachment in which an iPhone 11 Pro was integrated. The smartphone's camera tracked the face and body of the people in front of the screen and put them in the role of Red Bull Stratos jumper Felix Baumgartner, who had jumped out of a capsule at an altitude of 40,000 meters. His suit was faithfully reproduced as a 3D model. While the suit functioned like an avatar and used body tracking to mirror the movements of the person in front of the screen in real time, the user's own face was mapped and integrated directly into the suit as a face projection. So you could see yourself in Felix Baumgartner's suit.

Enabled by smartphone technology

This was only made possible by the latest generation of smartphones at the end of 2019, which on the one hand have sufficient performance due to new CPUs (processors of the iPhone 11 Pro) and suitable sensors (camera in combo with ARKit3) - and on the other hand do not require a large storage space. The software packages included in the newly released iOS13 (ARKit3) enabled body tracking and face projection directly with iOS. An individualized health check sent the status of the smartphone at regular intervals. In combination with a live database and an individualized cloud messaging provider, it was also possible to remotely influence the application and what was happening on site.

Positive feedback

On average, 120 people slipped into the digital Red Bull Stratos suit every day and interacted with the screen. Those who got a taste for it were invited directly via the screen to visit the Red Bull Media World and experience further interactive stations there.

In the currently adapted offer, visitors can also slip into the Red Bull Stratos suit in search of exciting excursion destinations in the Red Bull Media World at the Museum of Transport in Lucerne, thanks to augmented reality.

Local newspaper Frutigländer will not disappear after all

The Bernese Oberland newspaper Frutigländer will continue to be published. Just two weeks ago, the local paper announced its closure on June 30. According to the publisher, a solution is now on the horizon.

The announcement of the closure has caused great concern among the population and in the communities of Frutigland, writes publisher Richard Müller on the website of the Frutigländer. A meeting was held with representatives of all the municipalities in the valley.

The Frutigländer also gives the Frutiger Anzeiger the official publication of the municipalities of Adelboden, Aeschi, Frutigen, Kandergrund, Kandersteg, Krattigen and Reichenbach im Kandertal. Subscribers to the Frutigländer receive the Anzeiger as a supplement.

According to the publisher's announcement, a working group has been formed with the aim of Frutigländer to receive. It is already clear today that the Frutigländer will also be published after June 30 - with a "slightly different look" and an adapted concept.

The new publisher is Richard Müller from Gstaad, whose publishing house is the Saanen gazette publishes. Müller writes that he is aware that "there are still major challenges to overcome". The publisher is to develop an economically and journalistically viable concept with the partners involved.

Talks will be held with the affected employees in the publishing and editorial departments over the next few days, the statement continued. The employees were initially given notice when the publisher announced the closure of the newspaper at the end of May due to a drastic slump in sales.

The previous publisher Bernhard Egger is no longer on board. He will leave the Board of Directors of Frutigländer Medien in mid-June, according to the press release. Egger had taken over the Frutigländer Co-founded in 2005. (SDA)

Serviceplan lateral thinkers launch World-after-covid.com

Covid-19 is changing the world for good. Where do we go from here? The free platform "World-after-covid.com" by Serviceplan strategists Natalie Kineider and Steve Walls is designed to give companies and brands food for thought and possible scenarios for life after the lockdown.

Serviceplan

The lockdown and government measures are visibly being relaxed. However, the virus has changed a lot in the meantime. Mistakes have been exposed, and we have been confronted with an unprecedented situation for which no one could have been prepared on this scale.

Now the question arises: What will happen after the lockdown? How will the economy, social life and everyday life change? There are no conclusive answers to this question, but it is still worthwhile to think about it early on and plan the next steps as a company or brand.

At World-after-covid.com the two strategists Steve Walls and Natalie Kineider from Serviceplan have collected these thoughts. The "8 Earthquakes" depict various scenarios from all areas of life that outline possible changes after the time of the corona virus. In addition, the website contains 24 thought-provoking ideas that can serve companies and brands as a foundation for future decisions and creative approaches to solutions. With the help of facts and insights on the various areas, the authors have thus created a platform to support companies and brands in their post-crisis decisions.

Jung von Matt/Limmat shows the freshness of Denner

Jung von Matt/Limmat and Denner present the "Hauptsache frisch" campaign, which is currently being displayed throughout Switzerland. With bright colors and reduced design, the posters whet the appetite for the retailer's range of fresh products.

Denner

The main thing is fresh. This is the key message Denner uses to promote its wide range of over 800 fresh products. With this, the discounter wants to underline its expertise in the fresh produce sector, which it demonstrates every day with carefully selected vegetables, a variety of fruits, and crusty bread until closing time.

The campaign is being played out throughout Switzerland at OOH billboards, as digital out-of-home and at POS. In addition to classic juxtapositions of beans in "short or long" and apples in "sweet or sour," there are also plant-related questions, such as whether a strawberry is now a fruit or a nut. Visually, the campaign is to impress with its reduced design and rich colors that make the freshness really noticeable.

Obwalden Tourism wants to satisfy the needs of Swiss guests

Summer vacation planning has never been as emotionally charged as this year. In the current campaign, Obwalden Tourism shows that the center of Switzerland has a good idea of what needs Swiss guests want to satisfy.

Tourismus

After the coronavirus spring brought everything to a standstill, it's now time to make the very best vacation choices for the summer. It seems certain that many Swiss people have their hearts set on their home country. The question remains as to what needs Swiss guests want to satisfy. Breathe deeply and revive - these are just two of the many wishes that Obwalden can fulfill for its population in summer 2020. The desire to let go, the longing for new energy or the proverbial arrival will also be satisfied in Obwalden.

In the tourism campaign launched by Obwalden Tourism on Monday, prominent yellow hiking signposts point the way to fulfilling these and other needs and good intentions that have proven to be elementary for many people in Corona times. One signpost arm even indicates "center" as the destination, leaving it open as to whether this refers to the viewer's social position or the Obwalden Älggialp - the geographical center of Switzerland.

Other procedure

However, the blurred nature of the signposts irritates our visual habits and our gaze automatically searches for the nature behind them. The only thing: its main attractions and geographical features remain hidden as part of the campaign. Quite simply because Obwalden can only be experienced by those who are there.

"The current competitive situation is extraordinary - practically all Swiss destinations are vying for Swiss guests first and foremost," says Daniel Scardino, Managing Director of Obwalden Tourism. "In order to set ourselves apart from our competitors, we are daring to go down the path of concealing nature and blurred signposts. While landscapes and texts can be captured in passing elsewhere, we demand an examination of our motifs and want to establish Obwalden as an insider tip for Swiss guests in the long term."

The current campaign is being advertised on posters for two weeks in the Central Plateau and Northwestern Switzerland, and online in the rest of Switzerland. For inspiration and planning, the whole wealth of Obwalden insider tips can be found at TheSecretTip.ch described.

Double radio and television fee - Serafe error

Twice asked to pay for radio and television fees - this happened to 224,000 households in Switzerland. The alleged rip-off turned out to be a "production error in the billing process" at the Swiss Survey Office for Radio and Television Fees (Serafe).

Serafe

Immediately after the incident became known, the Federal Office of Communications, as the supervisory body, was informed of the incident by Serafe, according to a statement from the radio and television levy office on Monday.

The investigations revealed that 224,000 invoices had been printed a second time in one of the two printing service centers, packaged and handed over to the post office for dispatch. As these were invoices with correct data, the open amounts were correctly recorded in the systems of the collection agency and were only owed once, the report continues.

Accordingly, the affected customers can dispose of the duplicate bill received. Invoice amounts paid twice will be refunded to the customers of the collection agency. (SDA)

CH Media now works with Newscloud

The media house CH Media is now working with the news production system Newscloud for its radio stations. Radio 24, Radio Argovia, Radio Melody, Radio FM1, Virgin Radio Rock and Radio 32 want to use the new system to significantly expand their news output and increase their news quality and efficiency.

CH Media

Newscloud was developed by Regiocast and enables CH Media radio stations to produce radio news in a modular way: Each news item is produced and recorded individually. Shortly before the hour, the appropriate reports are distributed to the individual stations and automatically compiled into the usual news bulletin by Newscloud. The result is an individualized news broadcast for each station.

Expansion of the news offering

With the launch of Newscloud, the news offering is being expanded: all regional stations will now broadcast news on the hour from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. throughout the week. In addition, it will be possible to expand the offering on DAB+ stations: Radio Melody will now also be able to broadcast news throughout the week, while Virgin Radio Rock will also be able to offer its listeners news two and a half years after its launch.

This should also improve the quality of the news: The new capacities gained through the centralized production of national and international news reports will allow radio stations to focus more on regional reports. Newscloud also simplifies the production of news reports and speeds up the work process of the individual radio stations. National and international news will now be produced by a central news team for all stations. The important regional news is produced in the respective editorial offices of the regional stations. The focus can thus be consistently directed towards the region in order to fulfill the performance mandate even better.

Step-by-step introduction

CH Media is gradually introducing the new system. Newscloud has already been in use for the news at Radio Argovia and Radio 24 since mid-May. Radio Melody, Virgin Radio Rock and Radio 32 in Solothurn will follow in June. Radio FM1 will be working with Newscloud in the evening hours from next July.
